Still bitter over the loss of his last real chance at bonding, the hybrid Apollo has slowly alienated his friends and colleagues at Luna Lodge. Trying to convince himself that love makes the hybrids weak, he’s decided to dedicate his life to protecting the other hybrids, even if it means he can never find true happiness.
Though he’s convinced the hybrids are ignoring the continuing dangers in their midst, including harbouring the affable but suspicious Rem, his superiors seem more interested in having him babysit a security technician than putting his skills to use helping to secure their compound.
Val Hart pulled a lot of strings and committed more than a few cyber-crimes to get herself a temporary technician job with the suspicious hybrids for a mission that may allow her finally to understand why she’s felt different all her life. When her unexpected and intense attraction to Apollo threatens her focus, she has to do what she can to distance herself from the hybrid. After all, Val knows the truth about love: it’s nothing but a gateway to loss.
As the pair tangle over their emotional wounds, the enemies of Luna Lodge wait in the shadows, preparing to launch their deadliest strike yet.
Madison currently lives with her husband and two children in the Valley of the Sun. Phoenix, Arizona. After leaving the frozen tundra of the north, Madison was more surprised than anyone with how much she has enjoyed living in the desert. Seeing as she had stated on more than one occasion how much she hated the heat, it was an odd move. But it seemed her hatred for sub-zero temps and ice, or really the things that ice could do, won out in the end. When she’s not writing, she’s enjoying time with her family. Madison and her family frequent festivals in the area, as well as local cultural events, and spend time with family in the area. In the summer she is most likely to be found in the pool with the family and in the winter by the fireplace. Since both her children are autistic, days can be a little chaotic but with her husband beside her, there’s nothing she can’t handle. Luckily he is also an author and able to share in all the activities (and chores) special needs kids require. Apollo has been a regular character in this series, but as he moves center stage we get a better understanding of the emotional rollercoaster these hybrids have been on as they've discovered freedom, realized their being hunted by deadly enemies, and have just one chance at true love and happiness.
Val has a theory, but the only place she can prove it is Luna Lodge. Fortunately they need someone with her tech skills, and she has the skills to point them in her direction.
This story continues to move forward the overarching arc, which is composed of several aspects. The Horatius Group, the Government, and the Glycons are all in play as Luna Lodge continues to build and grow.
This so far has been my favourite book, I still have an issue with the ‘bad guy’ characters being ‘super evil bad guys’ with nothing more too them, but I definitely sensed more emotion in this one. I felt some angst and I’m definitely enjoying the series more and the direction it’s going.
Honestly just think at this point it’s the bad guys pulling me back from loving this series. They’re written poorly and basically just a plot device as opposed to actual characters in the story. I don’t really think that’s going to change so I’ll probably never 5 star these but they’re definitely good for a fun quick read
Apollo, who used to be the most cheerful of all the men, is now the most angry. He can't understand the men who have found partners. To him they have lost their edge and he feels as if he has to carry all the responsibility for the settlement. Val is a technical contractor who has worked hard to get the job at the lodge. She is there to check out the security cameras but she has another secret agenda. Strange things are happening in the town too. This series is getting darker with each book. For me it is too dark and I won't be continuing.
The seasons of joy and sorrow seem to be coming faster lately, though hopefully we are working toward more joy after such a large bout of sorrow. It was nice to get into the mind of Apollo after seeing his character go through such a change over the last couple books. Remus next will definitely be interesting. I like that we don't have to wait to learn why he looks like a traitor.
I never suspected Val was a hybrid of that she would be related to even Sol. Brilliant story line and I was soaking it up. I really want to get into what happened with Rem.
Apollo had me from.early in this series and his story only made me love him more! He had a lot of issues to deal with and Val seemed to be what he needed to figure it out. I loved all the heat and suspense!! Oh I'll have the next one please!!
This book seemed a little rushed and there were some huge inconsistencies and dropped storylines.
I was a little disappointed that Apollo stayed so angry and bitter after the last book and it wasn't just a result of the poison that affected everyone.

Overall Rating: 3.25 Rockin’ ★★★ What happened to our happy, easy going Apollo? The Luna Lodge series by Madison Stevens is a favorite paranormal/suspense romance series of mine, that I have really enjoyed reading up until book 5, Apollo. He has become angry at the world and suspects everyone. In previous books, his jokes kept the story fun and enjoyable and it's hard to believe in a year's span that he would become so jaded, that even his fellow hybrids are concerned and worried.
The Horatius Group continues to stay one step ahead of the hybrids, and they have to figure out how this is happening. Tightening security begins and a specialist is hired to help get it up and running. Valentine Hart is self-taught and excels in security, but she has a mission of her own and gaining access to the Lodge brings her one step closer to her target.
Apollo and Val are two of the most unlikely individuals to end up in a pairing, yet at the same time you can feel how they complete one another. Each being served an unfair start in life and searching for something that neither one knew they wanted or needed. Their adventure is exciting and the secrets once revealed explain another piece of the puzzle for the hybrids. The author also gives us insight into the next couple and I really cannot wait for Jenna and Rem's story. Both have been involved in the storylines and yet there is a veil of secrecy and an unknown that intrigues me.
I think Apollo is one of my favorite characters. He starts extremely happy and hopeful, but with each book he loses his shine. The author transforms him into this surly alpha male who is completely misunderstood by everyone. Until he meets his lady that is. The author really did create the perfect match with these two. They are both jaded by life, and yet retain that little slice of hope. Of course, then she throws them directly into danger and adds the perfect edge to their love story. I loved the family connection in this book and all of the underlying threads that are slowly coming together. This book can be read as a stand-alone, but is so much more enjoyable when you let the story build through the series. I can’t wait to read what happens next with the hybrids and the women they love.
Apollo definitely deserved his HEA and I'm glad he finally got it. Now Rem and Jeanna need to find theirs. The sooner the better. The mystery of the Horatious Group and the seriousness of the government is complicated and somewhat t confusing. Losing the good guy and Dean was very hard to take. I just hope we get some answers in the next book and I hope it comes soon. I lose the threads of the story when it takes so long for the next book. Glad I saw that this was out. May go back to reread the series from first to now to make sure I'm understanding the story line.
Loved Apollo. Absolutely great! Can't wait for for the next series Rem. If you have not read this series it is a must read. I fell in love with it from the beginning.
I loved Apollo and Val's story. I was really looking forward to it and along with a few surprises I was not disappointed. I loved their interaction, chemistry and Val's feistiness. It was a really enjoyable read!
This is a series that when I hear a new one has come out I don't even bother reading the summary. I automatically buy it because of my love and faith for this author and her series. Another great installment for the Luna clan.
Well. The story had a lot of holes. I got whiplash from the changes in Apollo and Val feelings. One sentence love and women are weakness and the next he loves her. Huh? Why was Jenna in town? I'm confused.
Another great book. I am completely hooked on these guys and the storyline!! Madison Stevens is a brilliant author with so much creativity. With every book I feel like I am there at the lodge.
It's been a while since I've read books 1-4. However a lot through this book, I'm thinking "this scene is familiar". I didn't go back to look but there were several deja vu moments. Since this is only book 5 of the series, that should not be happening yet.
