For 17 years Jaden, her twin sister Isla and younger sister, Adina home was a small brown building behind the bar that their father owned. The twins worked in the bar and their life was happy. All that changed when their father died a year ago. They now sleep on the floor of the small shed at the back of their Uncles house. Their Uncle now runs the bar, treats them with contempt and pays them barely enough to feed themselves. The girls, along with their friend, Ameranda, decide that if they are ever going to make a better life for 4 year old Adania they must leave.

Skydreamer is a captivating YA fantasy read. The story opens straight into their world which had me a little confused with the Esprits and how they worked. However it doesn’t take long to become acquainted with the different concepts of the Esprits, vegos and travel spheres etc.

The story changes POV between Jaden and Isla which I liked because the sisters, although twins, have their own distinct voice and very different personalities.
I liked that the dragon’s thoughts weren’t completely human. They had strong bonds of love and family but sometimes mating was just that, a means to produce. I would have loved to have seen more of the dragon politics within the council.

Skydreamer is more than a love story and more than a fantasy. It’s a story of courage, family, love and loss. The characters will draw you in and you won’t want to let them go. Recommended for lovers of light fantasy and dragons!

I loved this book adding to my favourites and re-reads lists.. I don't think I can actually express how much I loved this book..
It's simply a fantastic story. An awesome combination of magic, dragons, (dragons are always good)action and adventure. A captivating storyline that held my attention I didn't want to put it down! I enjoyed the shorter chapters and the change in POV's and I loved the way they author described the characters making them realistic and believable even in a fantasy world.

I want more.. I won't go into spoilers or synopsis, but I fell in love with these characters and I want to read more.. more of Dravan and Jaden, more of Isla and Ra'von just MORE MORE MORE!!!

Highly recommend this book to all fans of Fantasy and adventure..
suitable you YA and adult readers alike.. just sit back and let Ms Winters take you on and Amazing thrilling Adventure.. WITH DRAGONS...

Where do I start? The first chapter hooked me and I wasn’t able to put this book down. The story is mostly Jaden’s with a little bit of her sister’s perspective speckled in the beginning. Her sister, Isla, gets a larger part later in the book. This is my first Dragon changer experience. Can I just say that I want one…. A male dragon changer that is. Holly hotness.

All that being said this is a breath of fresh air from the massive amount of other styles of shifter books out there. This book is mostly clean with very few details on relationships inside the bedroom. I can’t decide if that is a good thing or not… I mean I don’t have to have things spelled out, but I do like a good rock hard chest.

My only less than perfect comment on this book, the main reason that kept me from giving it a 5 star, is that I truly there should have been two books, each sister getting her own story. You really wanted to get to know each sister just a bit more.

So onto the great parts.
This book seriously has those qualities that make you want to know what will happen next. The bonus of having two stories running side-by-side is that you don’t have a single dull moment. You can be in love with two men and not have a love triangle. Dravon is handsome and sweet. Ra’ Von is his brother and a hot mess – sort of. Although I love the sisters, the men made this book for me.
The story starts out basically in the lives of three young woman and a toddler being on the verge of desperation heading to a contest that will end up changing their lives forever. The contest that runs is sort of like the maze in Harry Potter crossed with the maze in Maze Runner. Dangerous and perilous. MOVING ON.

When Jaden marries the king of the Dragon Changers you start to get a glimpse at the magic in this world and the feel that Jaden is an idiot because she leaves this man. Don’t worry – she rectifies the situation.

I don’t want to spoil the book for you, but there is a scene that truly shows how much Dravon is a romantic – it involved waterfalls and water is something Jaden isn’t usually accustom. She is a fire talent and can’t touch water without crippling pain.

Towards the end there is a twist that nearly rips out your heart. I almost wasn’t sure this story would have a HEA ending. It does. Thank you author for not doing a cliff hanger!
So what are you waiting for? Go read this book – it’s adventure and romance and magic all rolled into one… you can’t really go wrong.

I received this book from Goddess Fish Promotions in return for a fair and honest review.

This book is a mixture of fantasy and contemporary which threw me a bit at first when they start talking about wearing jeans at the same time as orbs and esprits. This soon just became an aside though as the story took hold and dragged me into their world. I loved how the perspective changed and you could tell who it was 'speaking' without even having to see the heading of the chapter because each person had their own, distinct voice.

The plot moves along at a fair pace and will keep your interest all the way through. I liked that there were new challenges for Jaden and Isla to meet, not just the same ones rehashed over. I also thought it was building up to a cliffhanger ending and I was faced with the paradox of wanting to read even quicker so I could find out what happened, together with wanting to read slower as I didn't want the story to end. The ending is NOT a cliffhanger thankfully but it is bittersweet. There was a twist at the end that I just didn't see coming and it quite simply took my breath away.

I am hoping that there is another book in this world as one just simply wasn't enough. Absolutely brilliant and highly recommended.

Skydreamer is a wonderful fantasy with dragons, spirits, conjuring and magic, that kept me on the edge of my seat hoping all will end with a happy ever after.

This is a heartfelt story of three sisters, who are poor and struggling to survive. Ever since their parents died, they have lived in the shed, while their uncle lounges in the home they should be in. He holds their inheritance over their heads, forcing them to work as slaves in the bar they think they will inherit, but Jaden believes he has other plans.

Jaden, her twin, Isla and Adania have all the ups and downs, and trials and tribulations of a normal family, then add dragons and magic and a greedy uncle who cares naught for them. All the girls have talents.

Jaden needs alcohol to fuel her conjuring of fire.

Isla needs water to conjure ice.

Their four year old sister, Adania has an Esprit, Mr Dirty. Imagine a four year old believing dirt is her friend and you will kill her friends if you wash them or her. Adania is easy to visualize. I smile at her all the time. An enchanting imp who loves her dirt, trusting in her sisters.

Two young women and a child struggling to survive. They try to do the right thing by her.

Jaden feels the contest is their only way out. Women from the age of twenty one to thirty compete and the winner gets a one year marriage to Draven Winterbourn, King of the Dragon-Changers and a pot of gold. Someone will die, but she feels the risk is worth the reward.

Jaden denigrates herself, always feeling unworthy. She is not a warrior princess, but she is strong enough to endure all the heartache life throws at her and come out on top.

Of course, we know Jaden wins. She then proceeds to faint in his arms. It is love at first site, but she needs Isla, her twin. Jaden is painfully shy and easily frightened like…a deer caught in the glare of headlights. When her sisters are sent away, she panics and runs.

With no one to trust and nowhere to go, Jaden ends up VERY far from home.

Sheryl’s writing style is full of love and humor.

The questioning banter between Draven and Jaden is touching and hints at what is to come. He is the perfect dragon husband, soft and cuddly, patient and happy, with good looks, smiles and a generous nature, but Jaden has trouble trusting his love for her.

Draven and Ra’von are twins too. I think I know what that means and I hope it does come true.

A lot is predictable but Sheryl throws a curve ball or two in there, making me wonder. I kept saying, please don’t leave me hanging.

When Sheryl sent Jaden into an alternate universe, she kept me on the edge of my seat, so afraid I would not find my answer now. I have to know if this will be a wonderful romance with a happy ever after. Thank you, Sheryl for not leaving me with a cliffhanger. :-)

A feel good fantasy that had me soaring with the dragons and I will grab any book I see written by Sheryl Winters.

I received this book in return for an honest review.

Dragons. I’m in love with them. Seriously, I love dragons more than any other fantasy creature. And Skydreamer offers dragons, so to say I was hooked from the start is quite an understatement.

Jaden Zarie’s life is anything but a fairytale. She’s a fire talent, so whenever she gets in contact with water, it hurts her. On top of that, she and her sister are in dire financial need, and working in the bar run by her uncle who is a greedy, selfish man and barely pays them enough money for food. Jaden and her twin decide that if they want to give their kid sister a better life, they’ll have to run away.

Jaden and her twin sister, Isla, are very similar yet they do have different personalities, and that shows because each of them has a different perspective that they share throughout the book, and after a while, you kind of know when you’re in Jaden’s head and when you’re in Isla’s head without being told so.

After the sisters run away, Jaden ends up getting maried to Draven Winterbourne, King of the Dragon-changers, and it’s this that turns their entire lives upside down. But the contest beforehand was pretty exciting too. Really, this book is like a gift that keeps on living, a rollercoaster that never stops. The pacing is fast, and at times so many things were going on that I wanted to urge myself to read faster!

The romantic interests are engaging in their own way, but my favorite had to be Draven. The book offers a lot of original elements, and solid world building. Basically, if you like fantasy and paranormal romance, I’d highly recommend this book.

OMGosh, what can I say about this book? I LOVED it! Every. Blasted. Second of it. I can't believe it sat on my Kindle for this long.

What did I love about it? It has dragons. I love dragons, but these dragons are heart-warming and loving and desirable. They love deeply and will traverse the universe for the ones they love. Draven and Ra'von are swoon-worthy, whether in human or dragon form.

The story is told from two POVs of twin sisters. I was surprised since each one speaks in 1st person, that I wasn't mixed up, but I wasn't. Each character, Isla and Jaden are so unique and their voices are so individual that it is easy to keep them separated. And little Adania stole my heart, especially seeing the interaction between her and Draven. Ah, my heart be still.

I also loved the beautiful love stories and that the story focused more on that love than sex. Yes there was heat, but it was beautiful and not in my face. It was romantic but left all the 'goodies' for my imagination. It was refreshing to find a fantasy novel that didn't focus on the sex every other page. This story reminded me that wonderful, beautiful stories of love and romance can still be had without all the exposition.

I absolutely adored this book and recommend it to anyone who adores love stories, dragons, and seeing good win over bad. Well done, Sheryl Winters. I will definitely read more of your works if you keep writing like this.

A great YA Fantasy Read!
I love a good fantasy and this book does not disappoint! It is filled with adventure, action, romance, humor, magic, and dragon shifters! It is so well written that you become part if this fantastical world, rich with characters you come to know and care about. The story is told from the point of view of two different characters, which makes it even more interesting because if the distinct personalities of each character. This story will drag you in and hold you tight until the very end. I would recommend this book to young and old. Prepare to be captured in this exciting adventure!

This is a very yes book!

I picked this up on ku on the off chance that it might be worth a read and boy howdy was it ever! I was confused at first when the narrator changed, but once I got into the groove, it was easy to distinguish the narrators voices from each other. I'd say this is by far the best "twins" book I've ever read. Every character was fully developed and unique and that alone made this a five star read for me. Well done.

This book earns 3.5 out of five stars from me. I have a feeling my hangup with the point of view shifts is what kept me from becoming completely immersed in this world of dragon changers and magical Esprits.
The magical system, while not totally clarified, really interested me. I would love to ask twenty questions about it so I can have a better grip on what it's capable of and how it manifests itself. The use of the four elements wasn't new, but the idea of each wielder designing their own magical avatar really lit my imagination on fire.
The men in this book were not the type I would have expected since they were dragons who could change into human form. The sense of humor displayed by them trumped their protective natures. Not like any dragons I could have imagined, and I would have liked a more awe-filled reaction to them in their dragon forms from the women who came to love them.
My issues:
-Shifting between the twin sisters but using first person narrative really twisted my brain. In fact, I held myself aloof from the characters because I didn't want to want Jaden's story only to be stuck with Isla's. It would have been a better story if told only from Jaden's perspective (and then the author could have written another book to tell Isla's tale).
-The characters didn't react with befitting emotional turmoil to all the conflict they faced. Or I didn't find myself experiencing it with them. It felt like I was reading a story rather than being pulled along for an adventure.
-The resolution seemed to come too quickly.
Jaden acted like she'd experienced so much horror in the alternate realm but everything we experienced with her seemed foreign to her experience but in no way more difficult than homelessness and extreme pain endured on her own planet in the first half of the story. Thus, her character change didn't ring true for me. I think the fact that she had to be self-reliant should have been played up more, and then I could have accepted the ending.
I enjoyed this story. It's a fantasy-romance with no bad language or graphic scenes, which can be difficult to find.

3.75 out of 5 stars

Skydreamer by Sheryl Winters follows the adventures of twins, one of whom is Jadelentha (Jaden) Zarie, a rare Fire Talent, who somehow manages to snare the attention of Draven Winterbourn, King of the Dragon-Changers. Her association with him is fraught with dangers and discoveries, but there may be too many forces trying to keep them apart for them to ever have a future together.

This combination of young adult paranormal and science fiction story has quite a few inventive aspects that change one’s perspective on dealing with an affinity for the elements or coping with shapeshifters.

Throughout the story there is a shift in voice and point of view between the twins, Jaden and Isla, which sometimes is disconcerting, and, sadly, there is never any in-depth exploration of the males who figure prominently in the sisters’ lives. The very visual description of the challenges of staying clean when one is so sensitive to water that it will cause blisters was thought-provoking, and an intriguing twist.

For me, the shift from a magical world with Esprits and dragon shapeshifters to another world was too abrupt and made the story a bit choppy, and the subsequent events seemed out of sync with the rest of the tale. I liked the individual aspects of this story but I almost had the sense that too many different things were crowded in, so there wasn’t enough background to tie together the rapidly changing situations. Hopefully, there will be additional stories set in this imaginative universe that will allow us to get to know all of these characters in greater depth.

For fire talent, Jaden Zarie, life is far from a fairy tale. Blisters from any contact with water, check. Sleeping in a shed behind your greedy Uncle's house, check. Ex-boyfriend scouting the bar where you work for one-night stands every night, double check.

When Jaden sets off to secure a new life with her two sisters, winning a contest with a huge pile of gold on the line seems like a quick fix. Getting hitched to Draven Winterbourne, King of the Dragon-changers, and finding true love was beyond anything she could have hoped for.

But a friend turned enemy threatens to take it all away. When Jaden is thrust into an alternate universe and separated from her new husband and her sisters, she must summon up the courage to start over, alone, knowing she may never see any of them again

This was a different kind of book for me, but I absolutely loved it. I wanted to cheer for the characters as well as kill a few along the way. It's an amazing book. This is the first book I've read by this author but I hope to read more.

I rate this book 4 1/2 stars

Jaden is a rare fire talent, born with twin sister garnishing an ice talent. Together, they are raising their baby sister following the deaths of their parents. They are destitute and forced to succumb to the wants and needs of their uncle. Everyone has a breaking point ant the twins finally reach theirs, making the decision to leave and make a life with their little sister.
This book was very complex in that it was clear the author put a lot of thought into this alternate "universe/planet" right down to the smallest of details. There are sexy dragon shifters, romance and a whole lot of suspense. For me it was a slower start and there were a couple of times I had to go back and re-read because of all the players, but overall this is a five fanger. I would suggest though, if you are a binge reader, to start this early in the morning so you are not up late as you might get overwhelmed with all the players when you have a drowsy mind.

I was transported into a different time and place in this fantastical journey from Sheryl Winters. The characters came to life and I found myself enjoying them and the world she created. One filled with Dragons, and magic. Where all sorts of beings coincide. After Jaden and her sisters lose their parents they are stuck living with their horrible uncle. When they learn of a contest they leave him and everything they know and set off on a journey to see if they can create a better life for their littlest sister. I don't want to get too much into the story and ruin it for you, but there is a sneaky little twist that left me saying... "What just happened...???" It was well written and left me with goosebumps at the end. Any lover of fantasy would love this read and it flows at such a good pace I could NOT put it down. I can't wait to see more from this author.

I love, love, love this book. What a great combination of magic, dragons, romance, action, and adventure. A whole new take on dragon shifters, I love to read about dragons.

This is a story about a fire talent, Jaden Zarie, who wants a better life for herself and her two sisters. She set out to win a contest of gold and may marry Draven Winterbourne, King of the Dragon-changers. It's not everyday readers get the POV of Jaden and her twin sister Isla. They may be twins, by each had their very own distinct voice and too very different personalities

What a great find.

I love dragon stories and this one has magic and dragons. Yay! It is also the strangest and sweetest love story, and a twist on the Cinderella or rags to riches story. I loved it.

The story drew me in with beautiful imagery. It was a true pleasure to read.

I give this story 5 out of 5 clouds.

I love dragons, but what I enjoyed most about this book was the relationships between the characters. Yes, I loved Jaden and Draven together, and I really liked Isla and Ra'von, but there is a fierce sense of loyalty between sisters that I appreciated, too. Combining all that with a vivid fantasy world made for a great read.

Dragon shifters!! Need I say more?? Jaden has had a rough life and ends up falling head over heels into a brand new world she was not expecting. Enter Draven and she is suddenly married. Until a strange incident leaves her alone, possibly forever. I was unable to put this book down and read it in one sitting. This is going into my favorites category!!

SPOILER-FREE

This tale is imaginative and constantly moving. It took me a few pages to get into this world but overall, I liked it, especially the dragon-changers (because I love dragons) and it's what sold me to read this story. I liked all the main characters, although I liked the youngest sister, I wasn't quite sure of her role in the story and feel like she could have played a larger role in the story. The story seemed to center around Jaden and Isla. We get the viewpoints from both girls so I think they are both the protagonists in this story, not just Jaden. I had no problems liking either of the girls, I like how opposite they are despite being twins. It happens a few times in this story which I don't mind.

I think the pace is decent, I never found myself bored but I did find myself a little confused at times. Sometimes I felt like the scenes didn't quite make sense or felt a little random to me. I'm not quite sure why. I think it may have to do with the world building. I felt details were left out a little, such as the rules of the dragons and hierarchy. However, once I really got into the story I didn't have a problem filling in those details but I felt like that would have helped immerse me in the story better and quicker.

The flow and rhythm of the story seemed a little more choppy which will probably be fixed by now since I believe I'm reading an ARC. A lot happens in this story which is great but like I said earlier, slightly random, but it all adds up in the end. Things happened so quickly that I wasn't able to enjoy myself in the character for too long before it skimmed to the next event. I wanted to feel more of the characters struggles in the story to build a deeper connection to them.

The conclusion is satisfying and warm, even a little bittersweet, but not necessarily memorable. I could see a sequel happening but the way it ended makes it seem like it's a standalone novel. The story is good but I did have questions throughout the story that had not been answered but they weren't too important.

While the book has a good concept and overall story, I feel like the execution of the writing could have been stronger to make it a more memorable story. The impact the story made on me felt lackluster and I feel like it could have been better. I wanted to like the story more than I did when I finished. Still, if you like animal shifters, fantasy/scifi tech, twins, and the idea of family, then you'll like this book.

3.2 out of 5 rating for me!

Welcome to the fantasy world of dragons and elementals . Welcome to Jaden and Isla's story . Twin sisters that also have a magical power using the elements . Water . fire and their little sister Adaina has the power of the dirt . They are sent on a journey to win a contest that will set them up for life. When Jaden wins she is the one to marry the dragon prince . Their adventure is one wrought with misunderstandings and people thwarting the royal marriage . Will they find their way to each other and make a life for themselves
This fantasy read is full of twists an turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat . There are just a few things that kind of confused me when she mixed modern day clothing like jeans and that with clothes that you would wear in a fantasy story . Other then that the story was good and the characters were well written . Jaden and Isla's characters are polar opposites of each other even though they are twins . Isla is a mother hen and Jaden seems to get into trouble a lot . But you see them both grow up as the book progress . Being with the dragon princes make them grow up .
I truly enjoyed the book and had a great time reading it . So if you want a good ya read that will have you hooked by the 2 page this is the book for you

Jaden, Isla, and Adania are sisters but are living like slaves at their uncles hands. Jaden and Isla are twins but they are like day and night. Jaden knows they need to make a better like for their younger sister so she enters a contest to help better themselves.
This story has magic, dragons, and also a young woman trying to find her inner strength. She fights for her family, love, and a way back home!!!
Great start to this series, I will definitely be reading the next one!

An okay fantasy story that follows two sisters as they grow up. It was a little slow moving and there wasn't much action to hold my interest but it was okay.
I wasn't too into the characters I did like Jaden but I would've loved to see more depth and growth to her and the other characters as well.
Overall it wasn't bad but it wasn't great.

All but one hope gone. When life throws us a series of major struggles from birth hope do we continue. Then to have each small comfort stripped away. Taking the last hope as a leap of faith is a given. These things build character a hone survival skills. Usually we will need it. Great story.
