About the author

Tom, and his older brother Jerry,were born in St. Paul, Minnesota. He graduated from St. Andrew's Grade School, Cretin High (an all-boys Christian Brothers and Army ROTC school) and attended the University of Minnesota. After a successful 38-year career in the newspaper industry (at metro dailies in St. Paul, MN., Birmingham, AL. and Omaha, NE.) he took an early retirment and moved to the Nashville area (Franklin, TN.). He now devotes much of his time to volunteering. He has three grown sons and eight (soon to be nine) grandchildren.
