Words cannot describe how devastated I am that I couldn’t beta read Scream For Me 😭 I’ve been waiting for this ever since I read the teaser, but I had so many ARCs lined up. So I told myself, nooo??? I can’t apply if I can’t commit to the publish date. The author deserves better. Claire and Owen deserve better. And yet ... I still missed the publish date. Like wow, talk about being a failure 🤡🤡🤡 It's me, I'm the clown.
Claire and Owen’s story is still as lovely as I remember. And yes, despite having the memory of a goldfish mid stroke, I still remember those first chapters. I remember sitting on my bed, lights off, phone in hand, just giggling like I was waiting for my Uber Eats to arrive.
Dear Owen, you’re still the same sweet, innocent potato honey bumblebee little pumpkin and everything nice. Rabea Scholz wrote you with so much care that it’s actually dangerous, because for a second, I almost believed a real man could be desirable (absolutely not 🙂🙂 I meant yikes 🥴).
He’s gentle. He’s brave. He’s so eager to please. And he called the FMC the M word without her even asking for it, you guys, in the most unexpected moment. I’M NOT OKAY. I mean, HOW??? TO??? RECOVER??? FROM??? THAT??? *cries into my kitten’s fur* 🥲🐱
What makes Owen stand out to me is how ordinary he is. Not plain, just ordinary. You know those OTT romance books where the MMC is a billionaire at 30? Or a rockstar, mafia heir, or a hacker who can magically find your address as easily as picking his nose? Not saying those MMCs are wrong, but they leave little room for a guy like Owen, someone who’s just a designer. An artist stuck in a artist slump (idk the right word for it bwahaha 😭) Someone who lives in a small apartment with dying plants on his windowsill that he insists on taking care of (spoiler: he can’t, and they need help ASAP 😩)
One might ask, where’s the fun in that? Owen’s life seems so normal.
But normal doesn’t always mean boring.
Owen is FAR from boring. He has so many layers that reading his story feels like peeling a bombay onion while trying to make an omelette with my poor cooking skills. It’s painful. It’s also delicious. He’ll surprise you, I promise 🥺 And then he meets Claire, who, in his own words, is his "domineering therapist".
I almost felt bad for him, y’all 🗿
Claire is clearly on a whole different level. She’s experienced. She eats her dinner while casually thinking about ruining already broken men. And she likes to use pain as part of her method. I mean ... Who doesn’t love a scary mommy who told you to breathe while bruising your ribs at the same time??? And why play with a flogger when you have needles?
They call her The Grey Lady.
I’d like to start a petition to change that to Men’s Tears Collector 😐
At first, I was afraid it would be too taboo because of the patient/therapist relationship. I blame The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins for permanently giving me the ick with this trope (fuck you, tom and Anna, and almost everyone in the book) 🤢 But here? Their relationship grows beautifully. Still taboo, still questionable, but do I support them? Yes, yes, YES. I would absolutely show up to their wedding with a glitter banner if they ever got married 😭
Claire reminds me of a sapphic book I read last month, Bound by Conceit by Heather Nix. Minerva from that book and Claire could definitely sit together, sipping lattes and eating croissants while discussing how to break their subs in the most graceful way. Both are charismatic, mysterious, and utterly terrifying. How can you blame Owen for falling in love with this goddess??? 😳

I really love Claire’s character here. She’s not someone you can easily label as "sunshine" (she’s not, she’s a storm 💀) or "black cat" (nope, she’s a predator, RUN!). Even after finishing the bonus chapter, I still can’t fully place or understand her, and that’s what makes her so fascinating. She’s the kind of complicated that makes you want to figure her out.
But still, I wouldn't hire her as a therapist, bcs she would 100% make me cry in the first session 😬 Sorry, Claire 😩
The BDSM dynamic between them doesn’t feel gross at all! I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it feels .... Healthy? Almost like a safe guidebook? Like,, holy fish!!! How does Scream For Me manage to deliver detailed, intimate scenes without using those two C words???
It’s like:
Erotica, but with tenderness.
Porn, but with depth.
Sex, but make it safe.
Saying I’m blown away is an understatement. And again, I’m not judging other books, but writing like this, focused on emotions and body language, just feels more beautiful. There’s no other word. Claire and Owen are beautiful. Their relationship is beautiful. Rabea’s writing? BEAUTIFUL.
I WANT 10 BOOKS LIKE THIS, PLEASE. Hehehe.
The fact that this is the author’s adult debut is actually insane. I checked her account before, and I still don’t understand how she jumped from YA and sci-fi to this, in just months??? At this point, I’m convinced she’s a witch 😊 Or maybe a vampire who’s secretly lived 120 years and has drafts saved on her immortal laptop. Who knows??? Very possible 🤨
And even though it took me a few days to finish this book, please know that it does not mean it’s bad. It’s purely because my brain and eyes move slower than a sloth with diarrhea :)) I enjoyed Scream For Me so much that I literally delayed doing the dishes just to read the bonus chapter immediately 🙂🙂
My only complaint is Owen’s typing!!! Like, how do you have a teacher as a mom and still not use capital letters in texts??? That’s a crime, baby O. You should be ashamed. But you’re lucky you’re cute and I still want to adopt you 😭

I am so happy I got to beta read for this talented author.
Wow. Phew. That was intense! I have to admit I was expecting something completely different but I really liked it. I was expecting some romance type story with a clear HEA. What I got was a powerful journey of self-expression and closure.
Owen’s journey to stop feeling as if he is living behind a wall of glass and to feel heard felt cathartic. In one of his late night internet searches to try to feel something he stumbles upon a lead. While it might be scandalous, it could be what he needs to finally feel again.
Claire's specialty isn't for the mainstream. Infact, some might say it's wrong. But what if what she does helps break through years of repressing your own feelings and helps you actually live in all areas of your life?
Owen and Claire both journey towards acceptance of themselves and their current circumstances, confidence was cathartic.
Not for the faint of heart but highly recommend.

Such a beautifully written book. Rabae writes so passionately and you can tell she puts her heart and soul into her books.
The full novel, Scream For Me, follows Owen and Claire through a journey of finding their hearts and breaking down their barriers after years of hurt.
Tasteful BDSM journey that isnt about the stereotypes, done in a way that is wholesome and real. Going on a journey of two strangers, who never thought they could be happy, learning to trust themselves and each other.
With funny as well as raw moments, I challenge you not to fall in love with this book as much as I have!

I had the absolute pleasure to receive an ARC from the author of the book and I am leaving an honest review.
This book has been a super intense, raw and beautiful experience for me. I’ve never read anything like this and I’m sure this story will stay with me for a long time.
Written in dual POV, this story follows Owen Reid and Claire Stirling. Owen is a graphic designer, who is lonely and yearning to feel something real. During a long night trying to find that, he stumbles upon Claire’s website.
Claire is a somatic therapist specializing in therapeutic surrender. She’s controlled, analytical and methodical. There’s something about Owen that keeps him in her mind after their first meeting. Between sessions these two souls connect deeply with each other. Owen through bravery and vulnerability, and Claire through hope. Seeing them open up to each other is magnificent. They are messy and raw and felt real to me. I understand his silence and her control and grief.
This book is not what I expected, is written beautifully and builds you up with them to the climax of the story. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for an emotional read, one that resonates with each one of us. It left me with some thoughts about voicing what we want and need and having a relationship in which we are allowed to be ourselves…and isn’t that what all of us are looking for in our partners, friends and family??

It’s an intense read emotionally, but not in the way I was expecting... it’s quieter, deeper, and something that really stays with you.

I was a beta reader for this book and I was blown away! I finished the book in a single day because I simply couldn’t put it down. Claire and Owen’s story is written magnificently.
Owen’s vulnerability and pain felt incredibly real. I felt every moment of his struggle, breakthroughs, and growth had me celebrating right along with him. Claire’s strength and power shine through the pages—she’s strong and commanding, but also deeply human and relatable.
One thing that really stood out to me was how authentic the story felt. The dynamics, the emotions, and especially the emphasis on consent were handled with so much care and realism. It made the relationship feel genuine and grounded, which only made the story more powerful.

This book is incredibly difficult to describe. Simply put, it was the most beautiful book I've ever read. It was not at all what I was expecting based on the title or even the blurb. This book deals with deep, emotional, almost existential themes. It's a discussion on human nature and human connection at its most raw vulnerable roots. I've never felt more seen in my life. Owen's story resonated with me in a way no other book has as of yet. It was touching, intense and had me on the edge with Owen the entire time. It was truly a unique experience. I'm so glad I read it. I'm going to be thinking about this one for a long long time.

Claire and Owen's emotional journeys in this book were beautiful too read. this book was not overly spicy for the whole book being about a dom/sub relationship, but was more focused on the emotional impact this kind of play has on people both mentally and physically.
for this being a debut novel it was extremely well written, with both mindfulness and depth, you can tell it was well researched, planned, and executed with the utmost care.
I'm very intrigued to see where Claire and Owen go from here.

I was very impressed with the concept of this book as it is not a traditional BDSM-inspired book. It really focuses on the emotional connection between two people and how that plays into the role Claire plays. Owen has a lot of held-in emotional buildup, and Claire seems to be the exact person he needs to open up his mind and body. This story was written beautifully, and although it may not be everyone's cup of tea, I am looking forward to the rest of their story. I recommend anyone who would like to see a more clinical spin on giving up control in order to gain emotional well-being to read this.

This was SO SO good. I'm just gutted that the author doesn't have more books like this!
The whole dynamic is irresistible, both characters are equally fucked up and imperfect, which in turn means they're perfect for each other.
I loved the clear dialogue and that there was so much talking, alot of these books its all world building and descriptive text which can drag on a bit. 10/10!

It's one of a kind, unlike any book I have ever read. Owen is not like men in books I read about. He is so much more real, much more true, and his pain is so raw. This book is perfect for those who love tortured men and are looking for something real like Owen. Elegantly written safe BDSM. A light read but will make you scream.

Thank you so much to Rabea Scholz for the advanced reader copy! This admittedly isn't really my usual cup of tea, but I can appreciate that it's very well-written and will strike a cord with many people out there who feel like there's something missing in their relationships.
The story follows Owen, who, in his search for something to fill the void in his life, comes across "therapeutic surrender" with a woman named Claire, who does this professionally. It consists of physical pain and emotional surrender to someone else as a way of opening up other aspects of your life.
This is definitely still a BDSM story, but for those who might be wary of it, but it really didn't make me uncomfortable. There are very obvious measures of safety taken to keep it consensual and therapeutic. I was admittedly hesitant about stepping out of my comfort zone and reading this book, but the amount of depth and heart it had really impressed me.
Owen is a relatable character and I can understand his plight - I have closed myself off for long period of time before and not really known how to open back up. His search for something meaningful and emotionally stimulating is also something I think a lot of people will identify with.
Claire is an interesting character because she's extremely professional and knowledgeable. Her connection to Owen is intriguing and it makes you happy to see the way they complement each other.
Overall, this isn't my typical kind of book, but I definitely respect and appreciate the author's talent and the book's heart. This is, at its core, a story about finding someone you can trust and opening up all aspects of yourself to them. Thought it was going to be like 50 Shades of Grey and man I was wrong! This book was a very tasteful intro to soft BDSM. The slower pace keeps the BDSM from ramping up too fast and each session is its own story of learning how to open up and trust!
I wish I would have gotten to know more of each characters background. You get snippets throughout the story. I just didn’t fully understand why each character needed the BDSM.
Owen is someone who feels like he can’t open up to people, stuck at a job that is mundane. He takes to porn as a getaway and hasn’t been able to make his art, which he used to love. He has always been taught to be rocky. Owen finds a website for Claire. Claire has the touch that people don’t know they want. Claire uses pain in a therapeutic way to help her clients. She also has a past, a reason she does this!
This BDSM is not all about sexual desires, it’s about needing to trust and give up control. Consent is of upmost importance!
Owen was a very believable character, one down and stuck in a slump, looking for something to help him claw his way out. Now people don’t always look to BDSM, but the symbolism can be exchanged for other vices for everyday life.
Claire’s character was fun to see. A woman in charge and written in a different perspective than normal. The power dynamic is 🔥🔥🔥.

Owen is the MMC who seems a bit stuck in life— a little depressed, lonely, and very anxious. Owen books sessions with Claire, the FMC. She is a doctor who uses pain (in a safe and consenting way) to help someone break out of themselves and discover new things about who they are.
Owen and Claire develop a relationship together over the course of these sessions, and it becomes more than a doctor/patient relationship. Owen and Claire are absolutely adorable together. I loved those chapters where these two were together and bonding. Their chemistry was so great.

This book was SO deep! I read it in less than 24 hours. I just couldn't put it down. I loved the main characters and how we got minor glimpses into their pasts. I loved their interactions with eachother and with their respective best friends. I have so much I could say about this book, but I'm afraid to take away the "going into it blind" feeling that I think it deserves. Pick this one up. You won't be disappointed.

Their journey isn’t over so excited to see how it progresses!

I absolutely adore this book, it is a safe consensual hug in a book! Yes it is obviously BDSM but so utterly safe and guided absolutely nothing like any other book with even the slightest BDSM hint. I love that she is the 'dom' and he the 'sub' the story would never work or be the slightest bit believable the other way around.
The book is amazingly written, no glitches in the story, no spelling or grammar mistakes that I noticed and flows perfectly.

Just finished reading and I really have an emotional hangover...this is soo good. So touching. So deep. All while being soft on the BDSM side and absolutely respecting consent.
The two main characters are awesomely developed. I feel like I have been growing alongside them.
And I so love for them to experience more, more love, more hope, more joy, more tears...more everything.
