Check In, Check Out, Checkmate is an interesting, twisted, cozy mystery. The library is hosting what Meg assumes will be a boring chess tournament. When one of the players turns up dead and others become ill, Meg and her gang investigate. It is fun to catch up with the recurring characters and to learn a little more about them. I like seeing Meg and Brian together. Dirk is a hoot and Birdie makes me hungry for her creations! This new murder will test their deductive skills. I could not put it down!

A boring old chess tournament gets too exciting when a contestant is murdered and most of the others get sick. With so many people having access and the gang not having much trust in the local police, they take up the investigation.
I really liked this one. We see a bit more from some of the background characters and we get a surprise or two about Meg.
