When Melinda comes to Loid for counseling, he lucks into a great opportunity to gather intel. During their session, even Loid is shocked by what he learns about Donovan Desmond. Meanwhile, it’s a new term at Eden Academy, and Anya’s found herself in the middle of an international dispute!
Thanks to Edelweiss and Viz for providing me with this book.
So fun to be back with these characters! As the volumes have gone on, there has been an increasing focus on the plot and the politics of the world, which I really enjoy. This is also coming on the back of some very serious volumes, so this one is a bit more lighthearted.
Definitely some new intriguing plot points in this volume. I like how integrated all the families are becoming. Everyone is interacting with everyone else now and I like seeing the different dynamics that arise from that. There's definitely a tightrope to walk in making sure that the reader doesn't get frustrated from all the secret-keeping that is happening. I think that has been well done so far but I do hope that these characters start learning a bit more about each other soon, even if it isn't the full truth.
Maybe at some point I'll switch over to reading these chapters as they come out but until I decide to do that, I will look forward to the next volume.

EN This is mainly a character development volume, without any major active story arcs.
Anya continues to be the true star of the series thanks to her ability to read minds. Donovan Desmond’s second son is finally beginning to realize that he has feelings for her, even if he refuses to admit it.
Yor’s brother remains such a ridiculous and pathetic character. I constantly find myself rolling my eyes at everything he says and does. Even so, in the end, he managed to show a genuinely touching side of himself.
The beginning of this volume dragged a bit for me, and I ended up picking it back up a couple of months later and rereading those and the newer chapters, but I still think the first bit of this volume drags a bit compared to the rest. Other than that, I really enjoyed the rest of the chapters and am always glad to have Yor focused chapters. We got to meet some new characters, which is always fun, and it seems like some major things are going to happen in the next couple of volumes.
This manga makes me fall in love a little bit mroe with each new addition. They're so perfect to me, I can't even put it into words. I feel like they have every single thing I ever want in a story: - compelling characters - compelling relationships - excellent friendships - EXQUISIT HUMOR - 10/10 dialogue - intriguing, insightful, beautiful commentary about aspects of humanity. - super accurate representation of being all kinds of ages (from children to elderly). - cry potential (both sad and happy crying) - the slowest, slow, slowy burn EVER. People only talk about the keeper of the lost cities but this is truly excruciating (just how I like it). - cuteness (and this is the only thing people seem to talk about)
it has literally been FIFTEEN VOLUMES since the introduction of a new character it feels like😭 mb it's just cuz i've reread all the first 14 volumes too many times but ALL THAT CHANGE IS FREAKING ME OUT A LITTLE
There's finally that reveal that changes everything… I'm so excited for what's to come.
MY MELINDAAAA!!! I love her so much. Also, I am desperate to know how her conversation with Demetrius about Donovan went down. Overall, I need more of her and Demetrius anyway.
We also get a much-needed glimpse into Anya's backstory. That was short but already so impactful. I can't wait to dive more into it at some point. Hopefully soon.
Still, a very funny volume. The Anya school arc was delightful, and Becky's mischief lead to a really fun (and interesting character-wise) Damian mini-arc, so I'm very happy about it.
Last but not least, I'm always glad to read more about Yor. There are also subtle hints at some Yuri development, so we're sat because he does need it baaad. Chloe has the patience of a saint.
It's great that we finally learn more about Garden too (its members AND politics)!! It adds more depth to the worldbulding.
Overall, a great volume as expected, with a cover I absolutely adore!! Especially the hidden cover… my Shaylas…!! My Desmonds!!
