This is a collection of short horror stories. There are some cool and very creepy ideas in here but none of the stories wrap up satisfyingly enough for me. There is a story that begins and ends the collection about a girl who sees a face whenever she closes her eyes. The face itself is pretty scary and impressively rendered (images also appear on the cover) but I'm not sure this framing story really ties everything together either. That said, I did moderately enjoy the collection overall and some of the art (which varies in style) was great. Favs include the art in 'Literary Leftovers', both parts of the Japanese horror inspired 'Red Frog', and actually the last 'Int. The Witch's House' story, even though I couldn't quite discern what was going on narratively or visually some of the time. There is an interview with the creator at the end of the book who seems to confirm that some of this is more about the vibe than having a traditional story structure. If that's the case: mission accomplished. The book definitely has a consistent vibe and I may pick this up again sometime and get more out of it. Worth checking it out - I'm sure it will really resonate with some.
