Levy's written an interesting book of short pieces about food, restaurants, and the history and craft of food writing. It's British/European-centric, which I found different, as his focus moves outward from the UK to include many pieces about Asian food, mainly Chinese, with some Japanese and Indian pieces. He's not as laugh-out-loud funny as some of the other food writers I've read, but very informative and highly readable.
A collection of essays on food and restaurants. Levy notes in his introduction that many of the included essays appeared before in magazines in shorter form, and occasionally I think the editor's pen was for quality as well as simply for length, as a few drag on. Obviously the book is dated, and some of his predictions (such as his belief that the new trend of treating chefs as famous celebrities to be followed would soon collapse) are amusingly wrong in hindsight, but overall a quite entertaining and varied collection.
