Saved by the Fae Commander: A Fantasy Monster Romance

Rate this book
He's a vicious fae commander... and I'm his mate.

Years ago, a seer told me I was fated to a highborn fae named Gideon. Since then, I've tried to pretend the prophecy was a lie. As a full-blooded human, surely I'm not destined to belong to a powerful fae male. But the chill of winter has always felt like the sweetest caress, a promise that one day my mate would find me... no matter how hard I tried to stay hidden.

After the Winter Court army conquers my city, the strange sensation grows stronger. Sometimes, I hear his voice. Other times, I sense his presence as though he's standing right beside me.

Terrified of what will happen if he finds me, I flee the city with my father and head south. But it isn't long before I feel the highborn fae male again. Closing in. Hunting me. Somehow Gideon knows I ran... and he's coming for me.

When I'm chased by dangerous fae creatures in the wilderness, I think perhaps all is lost... until a massive, black-winged fae descends from the sky and saves me from certain death.

It's him. Gideon. My fated mate. The fae commander I've tried to stay hidden from.

And now that he's finally found me, there's nowhere left to run.

This book is a quick read, it’s got action, romance with a little spice.

The FMC Isabel is human who is fated to a Fae commander named Gideon. Even though they’ve never met, their bond starts to connect when his Winter Army invaded her city.

When they eventually meet, their bond grows stronger and she eventually falls in love with him even though she has tried to escape.

"... this feels like the sweetest victory of all, to stand here with my mate in my arms while offering her the one thing no one else ever has. Comfort. Understanding. Devotion."

In my last review I said that these books keep getting better with each instalment, and that continues to be the trend in this series! I've been in a bit of a slump after trying to trudge through another book that was not jiving with me, so getting to devour this book was a breath of fresh air!

The highlight for me in this book was definitely Isabel! I loved how she stood her ground, and I think the conversations they had—re: Gideon having to deal with the fact that sometimes he's not going to appreciate her thoughts but he'll just have to suck it up—was an extremely important one given the dynamics set up in these mate pairings!

"I'm allowed to have doubts, Gideon. My own feelings. My own thoughts. You can't command them."

I think Gideon may be my new favourite of the MMCs in this series. While he was still a brooding, possessive, hulking fae commander, he softened and was willing to compromise with Isabel, even when it came to situations that didn't just impact her. The fact that shortly after meeting her his immediate thought was to resign from his position in the army so he could live a quieter life with Isabel was a green flag for me! Not to mention I am a slut for ancient virgin MMC who has been holding out waiting for his mate.

Also loved the little tidbit/on page confirmation that Helena has also tamed the King... at least a little bit. Another great entry in the Fae Overlords universe from Sue Mercury! And as per usual, I will be tuned into the next one.

This is an exciting and engaging story, with sweet romance, spice, tragedy, and a lot of action. Isabel has been hiding from her potential highborn fae mate ever since a seer told her about him 3 years before. Gideon has known about her for about 2,000 years, but it is only recently that he has seen her in dreams. When she starts hearing his voice in her head, she flees with her father, but he is hot on her heels. She wants to avoid the brutal commander who has killed so many of her people.
One thing I don't understand is why no one in any of the books in this series traveled around forewarning the humans against killing faefolk who make new settlements near them. I mean, obviously the humans should not be carrying out unprovoked attacks on innocents, but the fae go to extremes in their revenge. If the humans were just warned to leave those settlements in peace, everyone could live and let live. None of the (non-military) humans ever seem to know why the fae are attacking so cruelly. In this book, we see tragedy on both sides as a result.
I like how Gideon and Isabel get to know each other once they unite, and realize that they have both been lonely. Not only do opposites attract, but Gideon is possessive and protective of Isabel as well as very loving. I also like the effect that the human women have on their highborn fae mates, in terms of curbing their savagery. The book is easy to read and the world building is wonderful.

A wonderful love story with Gideon and Isobel and the wonderful relationship they have had together
I had been fated as a highborn fae named Gideon and he has tried to pretend that the prophecy was a tie and the full-blooded human that he is to meet but he has never believed for one minute that this dream could in fact come true.
He then has a epiphany when the winter court conquers the city and she finds himself experiencing the strongest sensation she has never expected and this has led to her hearing a voice. At times it has also even had the sensation that he has been standing alongside her and that they are extremely important in her life so Isabel decides that she is going to run as far and as fast as she possibly can.
Gideon is determined that he is going to find his mate and Isabel is determined that she is going to do what ever to stay out of her highborn mate’s radar but he is determined and will use every trick in the book to track Isabel down.
This is a real heartwarming read that I guarantee readers will enjoy every moment of and I thought that it was a great addition to the series.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

We pick up where we left off with King Theron sending Commander Ashvale out to find Helena’s friends Isabel and her father. With these two missing from Tribute Day, Gideon takes to the air to search them out. He also is looking for his mate. He has dreamed of her repeatedly for a while since coming to Braemar. Isabel knows who her mate will be from a prophecy she received from a seer, Gideon. But she knows that the Fae are cruel. She decides to run but it doesn’t go as planned. Once Gideon and Isabel come together, there bond is instant. She keeps fighting her feeling for him though. Gideon doesn’t want to push her. He wants her to feel true emotion. I do love that he can hear her thoughts and it helps to open her mind more. Her feeling his emotion and affection is a plus for him. Things start to take a positive turn then people from his home town are killed. I have to say the King and Gideon start to feel empathy and understanding for their mates. They learn that there are innocence out in the world. We still have Lord Blackthorne still looking for Gwen. Looking forward to Bought by the Fae Savage.

Saved by the Fae Commander is a spicy book five in the Fae Overlords series.
This newest follows FMC Isabel who after the Fae Winter Court army conquered her city of Braemar has decided its time for her to leave.
At a moment in her past an Orc seeress had prophesied she was fated to a highborn Fae and she has lived in fear ever since.
With Tribute day arriving there was no way she wanted to enter the Fae occupied Braemar castle.
With her senses heightened due to his nearness and the sound of his voice and name, Gideon, entering her thoughts it was definitely time to flee.
Enjoyed the good writing, and the sweetness that was Isabel’s character.
Commander Gideon has also been sensing his fated mate and was also the object of a prophecy when younger of finding his fated mate during war, and that time had now arrived.
When Isabel flees Gideon follows, and their adventure begins filled with drama, family dynamics, danger, emotion, passion, and the bonding of fated mates.

Shes known for 3 years he would come

I thoroughly am enjoying this series I will admit this wasnt my favourite. Did find it a little challenging to read. Chapter 21 was the reward and the epilogue was great.

Personally found the FMC a little challenging, through its part of the journey just found it a little trying.

Look forward to carrying on the series.

She was told of her fated mate 3 years ago during a harrowing experience. She didnt believe it till the winter court arrives to attack her city. She flees with her father. He knew his mate would be human for 2,000 years and now he will stop at nothing to find her. He will need to learn patience and how to win her over.

The MMC is the mix bag that you can't help but love, with a sourcy mouth.

Book quote:
Her soul is revealed to me, just as mine is revealed to her, a promise of a bond deeper than desire. A bond that’s inevitable. A bond neither of us can outrun.

Foreseen And Foretold
A high priestess from the temple told Gideon that he would live more than two thousand years before meeting his mate and an Orc Seeress told Isabel her mate would be a high ranking Fae male called Gideon. When the Fae army occupies Braemar, she hears his voice in her head and realizes the truth. But she doesn’t want this bond with the enemy and flees. Gideon goes after her.
Follows the story of a fast developing relationship between the two, alongside with the story of the invading Fae being hunted and killed by human soldiers, causing a vicious circle of war.
Highly recommended, all the books in this series!

Saved by the Fae Commander is a spicy fifth installment in the Fae Overlords series.
After the Fae Winter Court conquers her city, Isabel is desperate to escape—especially with Tribute Day approaching. A childhood prophecy foretold she’d be mated to a highborn Fae, and she’s lived in fear ever since. When she senses Commander Gideon’s presence and hears his name, she flees.
Gideon, who was also prophesied to find his fated mate during war, has been sensing her too. He follows, and their journey explodes with danger, family drama, emotion, passion, and powerful fated-mate bonding.
Loved Isabel’s sweetness and the strong writing. A thrilling, steamy addition to the series!.

Prophecy, Fated mates, magical beasts and danger abound to turn Isabe!'s life upside down when the Winter Court Comes to her town seeking retribution for killing other fae. She'd been told by a seer tears ago that he'd be a high born fae. Gideon , however, just knew that she was human. They have so many obstacles to overcome for him to be able to claim her. Isabel wonders if she can reconcile the ruthless commander with the wonderful, sweet attentive mate he is she he's with her. What a sweet steamy, romantic story. I loved the storyline and the characters as wee as the worldbuilding. What a wonderful afternoon read!.

Saved by the Fae Commander is a captivating story and definitely one of my favourites in the series! I was excited to read Isabel’s story and find out what happened to explain why she and her father risked fleeing Braemar.
Gideon, the Commander of King Theron’s army, is tasked with locating the two runners and his suspicion that Isabel is the woman in his dreams, and his fated mate, is proven true the moment he finds her.
In this story we better understand and see the effects that the movement of ussha is having on the fae and perhaps also a move towards the tempering of their brutality and the seeds of peace. An exciting, intense, unputdownable read!

Saved by the Fae Commader by Sue Mercury tells the story of Isabel, the human female who escaped from Braemar with her dad to avoid Tribute Day to the fae. She'd been told by a seer that she'd be mated to an fae lord and had begun to hear his voice in her head, so she'd braved death to escape to a near by town, but there's no escaping a determined Gideon who successfully protects her and her dad and manages to woo his mate, too. Lots more action and thrills and great spice, too!.

I have always enjoyed this series and this latest story doesn’t disappoint. Isabel and Gideon are fated mates, she’s human, he’s a FAE Commander. He is aware that his mate is a human, just as Isabel is aware that her mate is a FAE. She tries to run away but he finds her, albeit, that he’s not looking for her but circumstances throw them into each others circle. This is a lovely, well written story, that delights.

She ran from the bond. He crossed the realm to claim her.

The Elevator Pitch: After a conquered human city falls under Winter Court rule, a guarded young woman flees the prophecy tying her to a ruthless fae commander. When he saves her from the wilderness and refuses to let her go, fear and fate become tangled with desire, protection, and a bond neither of them fully understands. As war, grief, and loyalty close in around them, they must decide whether destiny is a cage or the beginning of something chosen.

This is the fifth story in this series and it was just as good as the others, each of the stories are different. Life has been very lonely for Isabel, she is brave and sweet. Gideon took me some time to warm up to just like Isobel. I loved their relationship. When they finally bonded the sparks flew with lots of hot sexy erotic scenes. There are plenty of different elements in this very well written and well described story. I received an advanced reader copy of this book and am leaving an honest review. I hope that there will be many more stories in this series.

I enjoyed the story and great addition to the series. Isabel was told by a seer that she is the mate to the Fae Commander and she is terrified of him. She runs when he comes to her town. Gideon is looking for his mate and can't find her. When he finally tracks her down, she is being chased by beasts. Can he show her his softer side and convince her to be his?.

“Saved by the Fae Commander” by Sue Mercury and Sue Lyndon
-A tender yet intense fated mates romance set against war and mistrust between humans and fae. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.
Gideon’s patience and growing warmth balance beautifully with Isabel’s fear and resilience. With magic, prophecy, and a satisfying emotional slow burn, this story delivers both heart and heat.

a good read

I liked how she eventually grew to love him. How their thoughts and emotions were felt, heard and worked on during their relationship. I also liked knowing there were other couples and story from this world, and I’m eager to read their stories too. Overall it was good, the spicey scene at the end was good too.

Having read the first four books in this series, I knew what to expect in this story. I liked how the story unfolded. Gideon is sent to look for Isabel and her father by the Winter Court King. Gideon finds Isabel surrounded by direwolves ready to attack. He saves her, and the story continues from there.
