From Kindle All-Star John Ellsworth, author of #1 bestseller in thrillers category
Attorney Thaddeus Murfee is skyjacked to Moscow. Next to him on the plane is Angelina Sosa, a brash 20-something with a degree in journalism from the esteemed University of Chicago.
Angelina decides to write a New York Times best-seller based on the skyjacking. She isn’t sure if it will be fiction or non-fiction, but she has her topic once the plane is diverted.
Thaddeus Murfee has just received front-page notoriety in the Tribune for his extraordinary courtroom defense of a World War II death camp survivor. Lately, Thaddeus' name is being mentioned at all the important lawyer gatherings as the lawyer to keep an eye on in the U.S. In fact, there is even talk about him running for public office, maybe even U.S. Senator.
Angelina tells Thaddeus she will base new best-seller on the skyjacking. Surely a Pulitzer Prize isn’t even out of reach. Thaddeus declines all interviews with Angelina and the struggle begins.
What follows is an incredible legal thriller in Moscow, where Thaddeus and Angelina are the unwilling guests of the Russian President.
Thaddeus Murfee is at the top of his game in this book. The The New York Times Best-Seller will delight all Thaddeus Murfee fans who just can’t get enough of this young lawyer.
Formerly a trial lawyer for 30 years, John Ellsworth is now a full-time writer of thrillers and historical fiction, with over millions of copies sold. He holds titles such as USA Today bestseller, an Amazon Bestseller and Featured Author, as well as a Kindle All-Star.
This is the seventh book (or eighth book on some lists) in the Thaddeus Murfee Legal Thriller Series, and each one is about a different subject. Such as - casinos, hospital malpractice, etc. and this book is about Russia, the president, a mafioso, and the legal system. It is also a fast paced thriller that was hard to put down! Exceptional writing for all of the books in this series! And this one is a great read as well! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
John Ellsworth wrote another good story. If you were reading from the first book on, you'll enjoy it more. Katy Murder is very accomplished strong woman, comfortable in her skin but jealous? Didn't understand that part. This world needs more humans like Marvelous Marvin of Madison street. Story line is from today's headlines almost believable. Must read series, many things made me lean back and think.
The latest Thaddeus Murfee series was awesome and very timely. The storyline involves Russia , a Putin like President of Russia, details about the GRU ( Russian Intelligence) and torture. The plot involved Thaddeus s paralegal ( Christine) who was a former soldier who fought in the Gulf War. The CIA wanted her to go back to the Middle-East and kill a leader of a ISIS terrorist group. They also told her they would do everything possible to rescue her, but if they could not save her they would give her family 10 million dollars. She agreed and they had her ask her boss (Thaddeus ) to fly with her to Turkey to make it seem like she was on a legal matter, the plane was hijacked by a group from the Ukraine to Russia where they wanted the Russian Government to release 3 soldiers from prison. Christine gets captured by the GRU and tortured and made to take part in a video showing her trying to kill the Putin like leader, the details about the waterboarding and how they tortured her were very graphic. The ending was awesome and it was a great story.

I’m kind of annoyed because I don’t like Katy at all and the few chapters with her is so irrelevant. I can’t vibe with Katy because she’s selfish, unsympathetic and she shows no empathy towards others. She lost my respect when she set Turquoise up for something she didn’t do. She had this 15 years old child standing trial for killing someone Katy knew she killed, strike 1 and the only 1 I needed. And this book this unfeeling woman got on my everlasting nerves worrying Thaddeus about a doggone baby and he was in Russia fighting for Christine life. Katy didn’t even care about Christine and what was happening to her. She wanted Thad to leave Christine in Russia just to come have sex to get pregnant, unbelievable. And he was telling her, he couldn’t abandon Christine but she really didn’t care. From now on, any chapters with Katy, I’m skipping. I cried so much reading about Christine being tortured. It hurt my soul. Author had me feeling Christine pain, tears and emotions. I was so proud of Thad, Angelina and Jacques for being relentless to bring Christine back to America someway, somehow. Welcome back, Christine.
Here, in this exciting novel, Thaddeus' plane is skyjacked to Moscow. Sitting beside him is a young woman, Angelina Soso, who has a degree in journalism. She has decided to write a story, hopefully a NY Times bestseller about Murfee's experiences in Russia while trying to save a woman who was taken into custody from the plane. Who is she? Why was she arrested? Angelina stays close to Murfee while in Russia. This is a different endeavor for Murfee. This is another winning story for fantastic author John Ellsworth. His novels are definitely thrilling with great characters. It's hard to put down his stories.
Interesting story but seems a bit to light on details
I like the idea of the story but in all the resolutions of the conflict it came too easy. Escape, money, and death - all too easy in the end. More conflict with Karli would have been nice. Also I think winning that much money from Russia would have some ripple effects on the USA’s and Russia’s relationship. Doubtful a judge would take that on without a lot of input. Also unlike the others in this series there were more than a few wrong words, misspellings and grammar that was difficult. All in all I enjoyed the story and will read more in the series.
Late To The Party But... This is the first of this series I've read (book 7), so admittedly, I may not have the best point of reference in evaluating this story, but I'll pose three observations. 1.) The "bestseller excerpts did NOT add to the story IMHO, 2.) Some of the situations were outlandish, and others bordered on being completely ridiculous. 3.) Is Thaddeus a lawyer or a secret agent? I'm not sure I'm willing to suspend disbelief quite THAT much. Not exactly my cup of tea, but I'll give it a 3 based on the positive reviews of his other books. I'm willing to try another...
I love Thaddeus and I have enjoyed all the series thus far. I was a bit unsure as to why he got involved with the Russians...this followed your other series of Michael Gresham. The biggest issue that I have with this book is the number of typos. Either the editor didn't proof well enough, or the printer really screwed up. But all-in-all, I enjoyed the book. I am hoping for better in the next one though.
And have read several of his books and enjoy the read.. This one was was not really a novel....it's a movie script.. At times I felt like I had seen it or read it before.. It was pretty predictable . Works only because author knows his reader's tastes.. I'm taking a rest from continuing character stories for awhile....they get like a visit from a boring neighbor.
Took a little to get er going but it has plenty of interest when underway. Can’t believe how cowardly he makes the Russians out to be, picking on a woman like that. It seems they are real low life’s that take pleasure in human suffering. Does Ellsworth put Christine thru hell or what, she should be dead already, I know I would be. What a story though, all the way to the end. Too much Ellsworth! 5
As usual, Ellsworth has produced a fresh setting for this book. I love Thad and am reading the entire series, but feel this was not his best. I admit that Russia is not my favorite subject. The book is written with Ellsworth's usual surprising and convoluted plot, and I read the whole book, but find it hard to believe that Christine could survive all they did to her. Maybe I'm saying that foreign intrigue just doesn't fit in this series.
I liked all the other Ellsworth's books so far, but this one I could not finish. It is not sci-fi but all the Russian details are so cartoonish and off as it could be on Mars. You expect at least some research to go into a good novel. Also the torture scenes to me are excessive, luckily not what you find in his other books.
This book was disappointing when compared to all previous books in the Thaddeus Murphy series. Lots of grammatical errors. The previous book, which took place during the Holocaust, was my all time favorite! Can't remember the title, something about Prayer. John Ellsworth is a phenomenal writer. I like his style of writing.
I have to say, it was the least favorite of his books by a long shot. Just too much. Page after page of torture. The ridiculous law suit of the president of Russia. Super hero Murder to the rescue! Please! When is Murder going to be knighted?! President, maybe?!
A confused and abrupt legal mystery by John Ellsworth
Up to now I have enjoyed all of the books I have read by John Ellsworth. This book is the exception for this reader as I felt the ending of the novel was abrupt and unfinished. The legal aspects of the novel basically occurred in the last few pages of the book. Read if you must.
It’s 5:26 in the morning and I just finished this awesome novel. My wife and I have been unable to disengage from these novels which we have read in order. We just can’t get enough of Thaddeus Murfee. John Ellsworth , you are the best. Thank you,Dr. C & Bobbie
The tension got to be too much, and the graphic descriptions of Christine's torture were so awful. Having read all the Christine Susmann books before I read this story, I am glad to be finally "in the know" about her backstory. Again, I learned much about the law, and also foreign policy.
I really enjoy the author but did not like reading a kind of crappy "NYT Bestseller" - a book within a book - written by a throw away character. Don't know what Ellsworth was thinking here because a significant portion of the book was the italicized rendition of a made up story. Ellsworth did a good job with his main characters and made me feel the pain of torture poor Christine went through.

This is a great book. Thaddeus gets hijacked to Russia, along with two beautiful women. What happens to the two women? How does Thaddeus survive without speaking Russian? what role does the Russian President play? For or against them? Thaddeus always wins, but can he get these two women out of Russia alive?
This book was a great read if your eye could get past the typos! It really is irresponsible to publish something without taking the time to proof it for errors.
You are entirely tooooooo good to be true, But you are true .... even if only for the duration of this book, and the next one, and..... It is a lot to happen in only a few years, but Thaddeus learns well and performs even better.
I gave this 3 stars, not because it was bad, but it just wasn't what I was expecting. If I wanted a CIA book I would look for that. I was hoping for more of a legal book. Please get ole Thad back to practicing more law.
If any part of this book about the Russians is true, I would not like to visit the country. The terrible torture Christine was subject to and what it did to her mentally. Another good read by this author.
As I read through the Thaddeus Murfee series, I am more and more amazed at John Ellsworth's imagination. This series has totally been worth my time. I look forward to the next book and will be sad when I'm finished. Highly recommend.
Do not care for the books he writes that involve Russia and spies. Find his other books far more interesting. Do not care for spy thrillers. Much prefer the ins and outs of the U.S. Criminal court system.
I really enjoyed this book. The story is well laid out. I don't personally like the violence to Christine. I didn't read all of that. Enough to get the idea.
Couldn’t put it down. I adore the title character, having read many of the books in the series. I feel like I know him and his family, especially his assistant. A true thriller.
Of the nine books in the Thaddeus Murder Series up to now this is the most suspenseful book. Most of the story takes place in Russia. This is the kind of book that is hard to put down.
I wasn't sure I would finish reading this book because anything concerning mistreatment of others is hard to read. I am happy Money never makes up for abuse but the abusers did become less wealthy.
