Read this book at the recommendation of the instructor at my birth class, and really enjoyed it. She gives her perspective as a doctor, mother and breastfeeding advocate. The book is encouraging, with tips for overcoming common hurdles (especially related to breastfeeding, but also other topics), and she bases her most of her recommendations on research findings, and experience. I also appreciated that she has a sense of humor and told lots of stories, which made it easy to read as well.

Of all the you-must-read-this books I've received from mama friends during my pregnancy, this one has easily been my favorite. A straight-forward style and plenty of sound (cited) information make it an easy read, and I know I'll return to it for advice over my first year as a mom, too.

This book is basically a promotion of breast feeding. They barely cover any other topics, and when they do, it ultimately comes back to breast feeding.
