Eight survivors of the zombie apocalypse are trapped in safe houses around the world. On Thanksgiving day they hold an online video conference chat to share their hopes, fears, theories, secrets, predicaments and stories.
I was born and raised in Texas and only moved out of state when I joined the Air Force at the age of twenty. Being stationed in Italy, Germany and Hawaii allowed me to see the world and gain new perspectives. After separating from the military I moved to New Zealand for a few years where I studied creative writing. I write about topics that I feel are important and don't get enough attention.
Holed up in their respective safe houses, an assorted collection of survivors log in for a group chat on Thanksgiving day and share their stories of survival and life in the ZA. Nicely written with no editing issues, this was a fun, quick read. I enjoyed the individual stories of each survivor - the rich old woman in her boat cabin, the Muslim abandoned in a stadium, the red neck and his hog cage, urban Detroit and his bitch-slapping shopping cart, the hippy chick - the characters' perspectives were rich and interesting. I'm not sure about the ending though - I'd love to see the next transcript, if there will be one...
I really enjoyed this story as well as the format. It was a bit hard to follow at times but each individual story was fun to read. My only qualm is the way the author wrapped up the ending. If you're a fan of diary style zombie/postapocalyptic stories then you will probably enjoy this one
