Rate this book
"In all my calculations, I never took into account what it would feel like to have a soul."

You may think you know me.
I am the guy who killed Emma's parents.
I am Shad's corrupt brother, the guy who held Ryker captive, and the guy who stole Shad's soul.
But only one of those things is correct about me.
All I want is what is mine—what was stolen from my soul.
Yes, you think I stole my brother's soul.

Well, watch me reveal the truth as I steal his girl.

The Souless is a novella based on Cade’s perspective during the events of The Heir and Shattered Heir. It was quick and captivating read. I hated Cade in The Heir. He was villainous and conniving. However, in Shattered Heir, we saw a different side to Cain. One where he was not quite the conniving villain. Cade became more mortally gray. In the Souless, his perspective was clear and I understood him more. We saw more of his history. His intentions were noble to him, trying to get rid of the corruption. Yet, the way he implemented his goals made him villainous. This novella made wonder me if he is truly the villain. I’m excited for the last book, Heir Restored to see how the riveting series end.

I volunteered to read an ARC copy of the book and all thoughts are my own.

This novella was full of surprises! I was excited to get a glimpse into Cade’s mind and it was so intriguing to see his POV.
Cade is the villain in Emma’s eyes, but he certainly did not see himself that way! He was determined, driven, and confident in his choices. It was so interesting to see his backstory and how he fits into the larger story of Terra. I am still undecided on him and he’s definitely not someone I would want as a friend, but I definitely feel for him. I am hoping that he gets a full redemption moment and some reconciliation!
The story covers mostly the events of the second book and is best read within the series. It shows different sides of the story and really got me excited for the final book in the trilogy!
I received an ARC.
