Peace at Max's idyllic campsite is disrupted once more, simultaneously by the arrival of his parents and a very odd and gruesome murder-or is it? With the help of Min, Anxious, Demmy and a new Donkey friend the culprit is revealed. Our favorite Ninja Moose gets a little closer to solving his own mystery! Fabulous addition to the series. As ever, there are recipes too.
Reading Max's campsites mysteries leaves me torn in two (hypothetically, not literally).
I would dearly love to drive to set up camp in Max and Min Effort's idyllic campsite. I can picture myself relaxing with a drink in the laziness of a summer afternoon, cooking a sausage or two on the barbie, and slowing down to just live life in the moment. I really would love to go there except... the odds of coming to a grotesque end are higher in their vicinity than most!
This murder is no exception. The crime scene is gruesome, the victims (one man, the other, a goat) well known in the village, and Max and Min are at the centre of it all.
I love reading about Max, Min, Jack, Jill, and Anxious. I suspect they let me dream of other ways to live life. Jack and Jill are moving in, summer is coming to an end, and the Efforts are settling in to life on perpetual holiday. I loved getting to know more about the weird guy at the bottom of the garden. I love the banter between Jack and Jill. Despite the simplicity of the plot, I didn't pick the murderer until the last possible moment. A perfect read for a rainy afternoon.
Max, Min and Anxious are at it again, with help from Jack and Jill of course! What an unusual case, but as usual lots of fun! Loved that In this one we get a deeper understanding of Moose and Weird Bloke as we dive deeper into their individual histories.
Max, Min and the gang are back with another mind-blowing murder case. This one involves two murders (assuming you count the goat) and an almost murder that hit just a bit too close for Moose and the Weird Bloke that lives on the outskirts of the campground. In true style, Jack and Jill step up and turn the murders into an almost festive occasion for the customers (wine and some good cookin turns everything into a party.) Good till the last page (or last drop in Jill's case.)
