Taking the Rap

Rate this book
When rapper Terrico James claimed to be “mightier than Jesus,” nobody took him seriously…until someone did. Terrico’s dead body ends up nailed to a cross and Chicago Detective Ryan Doherty is on the case. Was it one of his brothers, envious of his success and bitter he didn’t share the wealth? Or Terrico’s protégé, Mandy Ross, a petulant pop star who sheds hearts like glitter in her path? With the help of his partner, Matt Di Santo, and the spirit of his dead partner, Jon, Ryan fights his way through cultural divides to find the murderer.

Catharine Lulling is ready to venture outside of her estate for her first real date with Ryan. But even her special abilities can’t save her when she reveals a secret she’s been hiding from him—one that could destroy their relationship for good.

Sadly, I finished it. I say sadly because I did not want it to end, but alas, it had to end. Jennifer has continued with her easy reading storyline. She has continued to grow her characters and she really makes you feel like you know them and want to know them. This book has some twists and turns and definitely makes you think. Well done, Jennifer.

Detectives Ryan Doherty and Matt Di Santo are at it again in this murder mystery of a high profile celebrity. Many obstacles block their way, not the least of which was the victim’s claim to be the new messiah. There were many not all that fond of the music icon, and Ryan and Matt have to fight their way through many potential motives to get to the one that counts. Solving the mystery as a reader won’t work. I tried and I was wrong. Twist after twist along with a surprising development or two will keep you hanging and turning pages.

Then there’s agoraphobic Catherine. Ryan’s new love. Will she or won’t she make it when she and Ryan finally go on a real date, leaving the sanctuary she calls her home?
