Kira of Eshara has spent twenty-three years being the one her family loves but doesn't need. Not the heir. Not the prodigy. The middle child, steady and quiet and forgettable. So when her planet needs a treaty bride for the most feared warlord in contested space, she's the one who volunteers. She is the one they can afford to lose. Morak is prepared for a political match. A name on a treaty. Someone who would fulfill the terms and nothing more. But when Kira steps onto his ship, something in his careful plans comes undone, and the bond that takes hold between them is as old as his species and just as permanent. Because when Morak looks at her, he doesn't see someone replaceable. He sees someone he would give up everything to keep.
the FMC Kira was BOLD, okay? I mean, if I volunteered to be the political bride for an alien warlord, might as well do what I want with him. I mean, he’s mine & I’m his, right? I love the elements of deep, telepathic connection & unwavering possessiveness that I find in many of Blue’s stories. ugh, swoon
Kira is not unloved or forgotten by her family, but she feels like the disappointing child/sibling who doesn't quite fit. She's not brilliant or needed. She's not flashy and she doesn't make waves when she enters a room. She supports her family in every way she can, but she doesn't feel like anything she does is quite enough. She also doesn't feel like anything is hers.
Until Morak. He might be a powerful warlord who is physically intimidating and VERY unlike a human, but she chose this path that led to him and she's determined to stick with it.
Morak is gobsmacked by Kira. You know, as much as a feared warlord can be gobsmacked. He was expecting nothing more than a political match, but he gets hit in the feels the first time he lays eyes on his treaty bride. She's soft and gentle and his and he likes that. A lot.
A sex-ay alien encounter, a warlord who wants his little human to want him, and a lady who didn't know what she was looking for until she laid eyes on the big warlord. *thumbs up*
Short sweet with just a enough spice. Two beings from two different worlds that find acceptance, belonging and love. Well worth the read and a perfect t bedtime story🌟💖🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥🔥🌟💖🌟💖🌶
I went back and forth on this rating, but you know what? This deserves the 4★.
For a 50-page novella, this is ridiculously well done.
You get character history, a bit of development (small, but still meaningful), and actual emotional weight — all in such a short space. Nothing felt sloppy or underdeveloped for what it was. It was just… tight, intentional, and well executed.
And the biggest thing for me? Zero cringe.
This is my second book by this author, and I’m genuinely impressed with her writing style. She manages to create tension, connection, and real feels without tipping into anything over-the-top or awkward — which is rare, and even more impressive in a novella.
Did I want more? Yes. But not because anything was missing — only because I didn’t want it to end.
And honestly, the fact that a 50-page story made me feel that way? That alone kind of proves the point.
This book in porn... er... and erotica novel. That must be said up front. The writing is good, first person writing. The storyline is interesting and the heroine, Kira, is a person one feels good about from the start. The details of Kira's wedding night are... detailed... but not "over the top" graphic. Overall this book is not a bad read. The 3 star rating is only because it would be nice - not mandated but still, nice - if somewhere there was notice that the book is a erotica novel. I would not have borrowed it and read it if there had been such a notification. Not prude-ish; just... ... not interested in the bedroom gymnastics of reptiles and girls. If notice was given and I missed it somehow - 5 stars!
It was refreshing to have a very loved FMC for once. I feel like all alien books are abused foster children or orphans with no friends. It was lovely to see how loved she is by her family and the connection she feels with the MMC. I liked how monstrous he looked and I like that he took the time to prep her. The only thing I didn’t like was that it ended a bit abruptly and felt more like a HFN.
Alien. Monstrous alien. Self sarcastic. Political marriage. Arranged marriage. Soul bond. Obsessed MMC. I’d give you up for love. Virgin FMC. huge cock. Stuffing/stretching. Prep. HFN. No epilogue.

I have read several of Adrian Blue's short works, this is the first I've written a review for. All of Blue's shorts are structured about the same, female thrust upon monster (or alien as is the case here) and a moment happens. The moment between Kira and Morak was so beautifully written and sweet and gave more than a snippit of monster smut. Its hard to have such a short story feel complete but Starbound managed to do that.
A beautiful story of what the L word truly represents.
A beautiful story of what the L word truly represents. I did not expect this. It was well written and not overdone. I will read and reread this story and dream of such acceptance, caring, and deep understanding that can only take shape in books, of fairytales and fantasies. Maybe one day it will escape into reality. Thank you ❤️
How are all these books so incredible? Literally every single one is like the best book I’ve ever read and I have to keep buying them so I can have them forever. The only negative about them is that they are short! (Also a positive I love short stories) I want more of every single book. I want them to be a 10 novel series that goes through the character’s entire lives. Thank you Adrian Blue for writing such gold and I am excited to gobble down the next one.
fmc was interesting, back story would have been so good for the mmc if the book was a bit longer and it wasn't fated mate stuff, also I can't stand virgin fmc's and for the most avoid all books with them, of course she was one but it didn't give me the ick, it was plausible given she was royalty or whatever. anyways, i skimmed over the spicy scene and was left actually wanting more story.. but these short novellas.
Princess Kira volunteered to be the bride of the Kethari warlord Morak, living on his warship the Vashkara. A treaty between their two species with their marriage. They both expected a political union but when they meet, they both feel the connection between them. Very quick bond between them. Book ends with their completed bond HEA.
A literal work of art. Such mastery in such a short novel, it’s quite incredible. Who knew so much could be told in so few pages. I love every story I’ve ever read by Adrian Blue and I’ll continue to read and enjoy every single one as well.
This is such a sweet read. Love the characters and the spicy scenes. Love even more the sweet interactions our leads have with each other. Would have loved to read more, but the short read was well worth it. Would definitely recommend!
I loved this story..... he's obviously terrifying.... but she stays the course and meets him on the bridge of his ship in a wedding dress..... he's speechless and they obviously have an "instant connection". From there its dinner and insta love!
What an amazing epitome of personal sacrifice from someone who thought that they were something that was just that just something not something special and found out that she was so wrong
This book just made itself onto my list of top books by this author. I’m so sad it’s a short one because it was perfect and I’m desperately craving more.
I didn’t get past the first few chapters; I wasn't intrigued enough to continue reading this book. Nothing unique or interesting, same plot as many other books.
This is honestly more romantic than sexy so if what you’re looking for is a quick instalove/mate-for-life monster romance with an alien alligator, this will certainly scratch that itch, so to speak.
