Shams, the new yet fierce fighter of the Land of the Sun, is thrust into an uneasy alliance with the five fighters of the Inner Lands. Bound by necessity rather than trust, they must work together to prevent the looming catastrophe that threatens to consume their world.
But unity proves far more difficult than survival. The Inner Lands' fighters refuse to see Shams as their equal, while Shams herself carries a burning resentment toward one of their realms—the very land she holds responsible for her mother's death.
As tensions rise and old wounds resurface, the group must decide whether their grudges matter more than the fate of the lands they are meant to protect.

I loved it!! I saw this book randomly in my recommendations and it’s been a while since I read fantasy so I went and downloaded it.
It was my first read of 2026 and a 5 star read! What a way to open the year. now I can’t wait for the second book to come out 🫣
In the starts of the book we meet Shams- a female fighter in a word when the job is a male dominated. when Shams was little something happened in her land that helped her decide that she wants to be her father heir and become the fighter of her land. Now 10 years later the same person that was responsible for her tragedy is back and attacking other lands. Which brings us to meet the 5 other fighters, all man’s that Shams need to work with even though the lands don’t have the best relationship with each other.
Shams was a strong female lead and I loved how she didn’t let anyone look down on her. Also she was sooooooo funny. if she had one thing it’s humor to cope with uncomfortable situations. (Or make it worse) either way I loved the outcome 🤣 There’s six characters in total and we got to see the story from the pov of every one of them at least once, which helped to understand the characters better. The fighting scenes were really good and the world building on point. The author didn’t bore me out with unnecessary details (like they do in a lot of fantasy books), and she still drew a very good and clear image of the world, characters and places in the story. The tone of the story had a touch of humor in it and I think it made it better. overall it was a very good read.
Like I said there were five other male characters and we don’t know yet who’s going to be her love interest but I definitely have my favorite and can’t wait and see if I’m right 😅
Go read it guys!!! I need her to continue the series!!
Such a fun fantasy read! The world-building was fast-paced, easy to understand, and never felt like an information dump, which makes this a great entry-level romantasy for anyone who doesn’t usually read fantasy.
And the slow burn is SLOW burning. 😂 Nothing has actually happened yet, but the looks, the protectiveness, the rivalry…you can feel something building, and I’m here for it. 🙈
I spent so much time expecting another twist with the traitor that I had myself suspecting everyone. 😂 There were plenty of surprises and questions that kept me hooked right through the end.
And I still have QUESTIONS. 👀 Good thing I already own book two. 😂
This was amazing! This book was so funny and witty, the banter between all of the characters was chef's kiss!! I felt a deep connection with the characters from the first chapters, Shams was the perfect main character 🥹! The plot was very well explained and pretty fast paced, we had a studying/ learning more arc and even a training arc (my favourite!) and a lot of character development and learning more about each character (multiple POV's) THAT PLOT TWIST Was INSANE!
I can’t wait for the next book! The plot twist was so good, and I really liked the multiple POVs. Also, Shams and Niko’s chemistry?? I’m rooting for them, haha 😆
