Lovely Brown was living the good life as Detroit’s top drug dealer, operating under the alias LB. Everything was going smooth until her father Lucifer escaped from prison, ready to return to the throne and destroy anyone in his path, including Lovely. While running for her life, she was also being investigated by the Feds and simultaneously set-up for the murder of her mafia connects' nephew. This resulted in a ONE MILLION DOLLAR bounty being placed on her head. Achieving the impossible, Lovely managed to escape unscathed.
Now, five years after she left all the Dope, Death and Deception behind and she's finally living a normal life, things get complicated. Issues from her past come right to her front door. This book must have had to be rushed. The amount of typos and grammatical errors I found in it had me distracted from the actual story line. It seemed a bit predictable and honestly is not the writing I'm used to from India. Still entertaining though! I really wish Lovely would have finally gotten her happy ending, but oh well I guess not everyone gets a happy ending..

Dang Lovely could never get a break. People she thought she could trust only kept letting her down. Finally she gets to the end (so she thought) and meet her final destiny. Wish the end could have been better but it was a good ending to say the least. I wish I could have seen more of something different.

Looking Over Your Shoulder

"Still Deceiving," the sequel to "Dope, Death and Deception," picks up five years after Lovely Brown barely escaped the high life in her double life as drug lord LB. Lovely has dealt with losing her baby sister in a case of mistaken identity and her mother, older sister and nearly her own life at the hands of her father Lucifer. She has managed to outsmart and evade the fed's investigation of LB's drug empire and avoided death with a million dollar bounty on her head after she was framed for the murder of her mafia connect's nephew. Lovely thinks she has left her past behind, but a chain of events soon shows she should always remember to look over her shoulder. When her world comes crashing down around her, Lovely will learn things are not what they seem and that one can never really escape their past. She is once again racing against time to save all that is near and dear to her.

India's "Still Deceiving" is action packed and carries all the street drama of the first installment of Lovely Brown's life. We are introduced to a few new characters, learn more about some old faces and learn things are not always what they seem. While this is a well written story with a fast paced storyline, I found myself reading this and wondering yet again what world Lovely lives in. Getting fast paper and staying one step ahead of the enemy seems to be the ingredients that make up Lovely Brown and her brand of ghetto fabulous. Readers of the first book will be happy to have some answers to the loose strings.

This is part two and IMHO this one was just NOT as good as the first one.....I know that every book can't have a happy ending but Lovely had been through so much at her young age that I was just hoping aganist all odds that she would have the life that she should have had while growing up. As for the other things in this book that did not sit well with me I really don't want to spoil it for anyone else so let's just say that I saw a lot of this coming......With all those things said this still was a pretty good read.....3.5 star rating.....

Now this one was crazy! So many people, better yet so called friends did a lot of underhanded bs in this. I'm glad Lovely found out Do It was still alive. Now with White Girl, I was trying to give her the benefit of doubt but she definitely proved me wrong . So much for loyalty. I couldn't even feel bad for her. I was mad Lovely put her trust in everybody. Meechie was on some other shit but I guess he did what he felt he had to for what they did to his son. Hopefully the next issue won't take as long.

This was a good sequel with a super crazy ending! Lovely behaves how men do in these types of books. She just demands respect. All of the mess going on around and too her was sometimes crazy, but she handled everything like the boss she was. The twists and turns were crazy. A lot of things that were happening were so unexpected and added a ton of suspence the story. I was really impressed with this book and its predecessor and am looking forward to reading more of India's work.

Lovey returns in "Still Deceiving", wanting to move on with her life but still afraid of her past. This book was full of shocking surprises that almost knocked me off my feet! Lovely learned once again that you can't trust everyone, sometimes those that are the closest to you. Was Lucifer the person out to destroy Lovey or was it the one person she least expected? Once again India writes an amazing book full of lies, deceit and unexpected twist.

Now I know why I keep my circle small! Just when you think you know who the backstabber is, the whole circle jumps in take turns twisting the knife. Lovely had to learn the hard way. This was a enjoyable sequel. Definitely a page turner.

The ending blew me away smh...I left me wondering if a part 3 will be coming out!! I can't believe White Girl & Meechie was with Lovely's father the whole time. The snakes truly came out in this second part. A page-turner!!
