A Deadly Drop . . .

Café owner Kylie Berry is cooking breakfast... or at least juggling it until the flipped pancake lands on the floor. The dog Sage batted the dreadful pancake and it flew under the stove. Kylie already had a mess with the eggs-over-easy as they failed the flip test; and the bacon was raw in the center and charred black at the edges. Toast had a similar fate. This disaster was to be Brad Calderos’ farewell breakfast... did they have an argument or something worse? Her friends were all watching to see what she would destroy next. She bravely plated the uh... breakfast. Brad was going to Louisville to work undercover with the Narcotics division of the Louisville Police Department. She put the plate in front of him and he reminded her it was 3 hours to Louisville, alone, and no hospitals en route. Jack bravely volunteered to eat it instead as the crowd of friends watched, told Kylie the coffee was exceptional (which got a laugh since Kylie made excellent coffee).

Now they all began to discuss a million-dollar wedding that would be taking over Kylie's parking lot and kitchen. They flew in 12 internationally acclaimed chefs from four different countries for the wedding of Donovan Sterling and Lila Monroe. Kylie stepped outside and stopped, staring at the transformation of her parking lot. Then she heard an argument, a man was furious that a red Mercedes convertible had been egged. He was arguing with Celeste Vane, the wedding planner whose reputation preceded her. When they dispersed, Brad came out and took Kylie's hand as they walked, trying to say goodbye. Then she heard a distant scream growing louder with each second! Brad looked up, held her tight, and something falling from a hot air balloon slammed into the cobblestones behind her! Someone falling from the sky just turned the venue into a crime scene!

Russell Garrett describes to the police how Grant Elboron, wearing a free fall suit, jumped from the hot air balloon. Russell hadn't stopped him since Grant had obviously prepared for this, but Officer Lyle wanted a clean and easy conviction, so he did not agree and charged Russell with murder! He even threatened to take Kylie in if she didn't back off. Kylie has already been known for her investigative skill and after the officer's insulting treatment, she made it clear that she intends to help Russell. Will she succeed? Or could the killer come after her when she gets too close?

I received this book courtesy of Booksprout for the purpose of a fair and honest review.

Overview: Kylie's diner has been taken over by quite a few chefs for the wedding of a lifetime. Unfortunately, Kylie witnesses a major dust up between the best man and at least five different members of the wedding staff and party. Too bad that he had a fatal fall. What's worse, the hot air balloon pilot has been arrested. Who could have wanted Grant dead? And can Kylie handle Brad moving away? Let's find out.

Dislikes: Grant was a narcissist. That's the best way that I can describe him. He didn't care about anyone whose name wasn't Grant. That made his ego over-inflated, and prone to injury. Heaven help those who landed in his path.

Lyle made a serious rush to judgment. There wasn't enough evidence to arrest anyone at that time.

Likes: Nolan had quite the following. I can't say that I'd egg Grant's car. But, not my goats, not my shepherd.

Kylie and Zoey made a great team for the investigation. I can see how their singlemindedness can get them in trouble.

Agatha has a sense of control and power that I respect.

Shortly after The Berry Home burns, the wedding chefs did a great thing. And they held their boss to do the right thing as well. Feeding the crew is always good for the soul.

Conclusion: This was a fun book. If you like cozy mysteries or Kylie Berry, then this book is for you. Enjoy the read.

I knew within the first few chapters that this wasn't going to be a mystery driven only by clues. It won me over with its personality first. Kylie has the kind of voice that instantly makes you feel welcome, and the people around her bring so much life to every scene that the café begins to feel like a place you'd happily spend an afternoon in. I found myself smiling at the humor, enjoying the effortless conversations, and quietly appreciating how every relationship felt genuine. Then, just when everything seemed wrapped in warmth and familiarity, the story gently reminded me that even the happiest places can hide unexpected shadows. I loved that contrast because it made the mystery feel even more intriguing without ever giving too much away.

A.R. Winters has a wonderful gift for making readers care before asking them to solve anything. The mystery certainly captured my curiosity, but it was the warmth, wit, and heart of the characters that kept me turning the pages. Every chapter feels inviting, every conversation has its own charm, and the story carries an easy confidence that makes reading feel wonderfully natural. If you enjoy cozy mysteries where laughter, friendship, and suspense exist in perfect harmony, I think you'll have a genuinely delightful time with this one.

Kylie has opened up her kitchen to allow famous chefs to create specialty’s for a very expensive wedding venue.
Nothing but the best for the wedding couple.
Renovations sparing no expense outside the cafe to suit the tastes of the soon to be wedding fiasco the soon to be wed couple.
Kylie had just made Brad a farewell breakfast as a send off treat for his new position taking him away from home and Kylie when the shenanigans begin.
Will this keep Brad here a bit longer since he’s now a witness and fighting crime is in his vocabulary and blood?!
A must read to find this out!!
Gregson is still around and so is her best friend Zoe who help solve the mystery behind the latest murder that just fell out of the sky in front of her bakery.
Lively, fun characters fill the pages of this page turning read.
Snooping, sleuthing, sweet treats and some others on the Oops board because Kylie is not the best of cooks, but she tries.
News and gossip moves faster than syrup over pancakes in this delightful read that will have you turning pages as quickly as you can to reach the end of this comical read!.

Should she, or shouldn't she? That is what Kylie keeps saying over and over again after a man falls from a hot air balloon and face plants on the cobble stone walkway set up for a wedding. Tracking the balloons as they land, Kylie, Greg and friends begin to talk with the drivers of the hot air balloons. One man, Russell describes how Grant fell from his balloon. Grant had a free fall suit on and Russell failed to stop him from jumping. Officer Lyle, someone who knows about Kylie and her ways to dive into investigations, to her chagrin, he arrests poor Russell for murder. That is when Kylie announced she should and will help Russell. From this point on the action keeps the pages flying and the shenanigans will keep you laughing. I enjoyed this book very much, especially where they stuck their heads under bushes to observe. All that was visible was four talking heads.

Wonderful!!

It's A. R. Winters, so of course it's a 5 star rating!

In this 16th book in the series, Kylie's cafe is taken over by a lot of amazing chefs for a fancy wedding...but then a body falls from the sky and someone who shouldn't be a suspect is arrested. So Kylie - with help, of course, from Zoey, Brad & Gregson, set out to figure out what happened.

A LOT is happening - and on many fronts, and the suspect list keeps changing.

As always, there are fabulous characters, great descriptions of everything, a wonderful story-line, and lots of humor and twists & turns. Pretty much non-stop action. The ending brought happy tears to my eyes and put a big smile on my face!

The book is an easy, completely enjoyable read, and as always, leaves me wanting more!!

What has Kylie Berry let herself in for? Her cafe is in uproar. There’s a wedding happening in her grounds as well as a busy day with her barista and coffee grounds . When a man drips from the sky, it’s more than a surprise and wonder why, where did he come from and how did he die, and was his demise an accidental one or was he thrown or pushed? Well this certainly is a tricky one.
Not exactly the way you want the day to unfold when you’re already stretched to the limit. But ,well ,she’s a sleuth albeit amateur ,so she’s going to get involved in it for sure .
A perfectly well written immersive cosy mystery that gets you thinking and solving along and of course there is a sidekick to depend on too, Sage the dog is splendidly penned and those funny moments too are vividly described.,

With Kylie juggling between Brad and Grayson and at times both of them working together to protect her, it is reminiscent of Evanovich's Stephanie Plum.

However, they are not the only thing being juggled in this edition, as she is trying to juggle her bakery and cafe with sharing her kitchen with wedding caterers. Add in the death of a groomsmen that many people seem to hate and the bride doing her own juggling, readers are just waiting for the ball to drop.

A.R. Winters is always an automatic yes for me to read. All of her series are amazing and I highly recommend them all of them. Kylie and the crew are back at it again in this book. Kylie has a million dollar wedding going on in her parking lot and she is feeling overwhelmed. People are making fun of her breakfast and high profile chefs are invading her kitchen. Then of course a dead body falls from the sky right in the middle of the parking lot and the wedding. Kylie and Zoe have to jump into it again to solve the murder and save Kylie's business.

Kylie Berry books are the best! She is funny, nosy and has a big heart. Kylie’s café always makes me hungry even if it is something she cooks and lands on the Oops Board. I love reading about the food mishaps. It adds to the charm of these books. Things always become interesting when she pairs with her best friend Zoey to solve a crime. This cozy mystery has plenty of clues you have to sift through to figure out who the killer is. This was a great read and I look forward to what comes next.

The Kylie Berry Series is the best!

This was a great series! I loved Sage’s personality, and Kylie’s clumsiness. I want my own Gregson and Brad.
I truly hope this is not the end, I would love to see more books in the series.

Ok this book is devastating in more ways than one. Brad leaving. A wedding that got trouble all over and evil near by. And the end, so sad and happy.

This is a excellent mystery. A wedding is scheduled for a fairytale couple. Then the Bestman is dead. But who is responsible for his death? He's not a good man. Will they figure all of this out before they pay the ultimate price?.
