I'm still in my wedding dress when his hand slides between my thighs, his mouth at my ear, telling me to forget the man who left me standing at the altar.
Only he's not a stranger; he's my ex-fiancé's older brother.
It was one reckless mistake. One night to forget. Or so I thought.
Dax Blackwell is 6'3" of tailored dominance. Salt-and-pepper hair. Piercing blue eyes. Billionaire media mogul. A man who commands headlines, boardrooms, and entire industries without breaking a sweat.
He doesn't chase—he acquires. And I thought it ended there.
Until he orchestrates my relocation to New York through my firm and requests me personally to handle the PR crisis threatening his empire.
Now I work for him. Now I answer to him. Now the tension between us isn't grief—it's gasoline.
And when he finds out my ex is trying to work things out, Dax doesn't negotiate—he escalates.
But when our secret affair becomes a scandal of its own—splashed across media outlets and dissected by the public—the fallout threatens both our reputations.
The Blackwell brothers stand on opposite ends of the spectrum, and neither of them will let me go.
If love is a losing game—then I'm already down for the count.
Everything Happens for a Reason - When Scarlett’s groom left her at the alter, she never expected to find herself in bed with his brother, so she run the moment she woke up. However fate brought Scarlett back together with Dax a couple of weeks later, where they enjoyed another pleasurable tryst. Dax realised at that point he couldn’t stay away from Scarlett and created a chance to work closely with her when the opportunity presented itself. Spending time together led to Scarlett and Dax embarking on a secret relationship, which they enjoyed for quite a quiet.
However, just as Scarlett and Dax settled into their relationship, their blissful moments were disrupted when his brother found out about their relationship and their secret relationship became a media frenzy. Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding Scarlett and Dax’s relationship not only affected her career, but also affected her personal life, as she had recently received life changing news. Luckily, Scarlett and Dax were able to get back on track towards their future after he managed to convince her to give him a chance.
This was an absolutely fantastic read, where the author did a great job finding the balance between spiciness and a worthwhile storyline with depth and emotion. My eyes were glued to the pages from the first chapter until I read the final word and I can say without a shadow of doubt, that the time I spent reading this book was worth it. This story about a young woman who is abandoned at the altar by one man to then fall in love with his older brother may be a 5 star rating, but I can't rate the book any higher than 4 stars. Dax Blackwell, 48, is portrayed as a dynamic, brilliant businessman. His brother Miles, 39, is portrayed as weak, unable to uncommit to anything and not even faithful. Miles had no interest in the family media company as it was too much pressure and left NY at 18 to pursue journalism. The author makes a big deal about their father's death 10 years prior. At 38, Dax would have stepped into the CEO role effortlessly and at 29, Miles was long distanced from the company. Either the characters should be 10 years younger or the father should have died 20 years ago. The crisis that precipitated Scarlett's relocation to NY hit on a Tuesday night. Yet Dax didn't insist that Scarlett get involved immediately via Zoom if she couldn't physically move until the following Monday. It's a crisis, not a new PR campaign. Admittedly, she is effect once she arrives in NY but not involving her sooner is questionable. The genesis of the final crisis is never explained. Was Miles behind it? A competitor having them investigated? It seemed like a planned attack campaign but it was just glossed over to rush to the HEA ending. This is a good book but it could have been better.
I just finished Claimed by the Other Brother by Bella Chandler, and once again, she delivers exactly what I crave in a romance: emotional intensity, undeniable chemistry, and a hero who knows what he wants.
Scarlett’s world shatters when her fiancé — Dax’s younger brother — doesn’t show up to their wedding. Instead, he sends a last-minute message through a friend saying he’s changed his mind. She’s left humiliated and heartbroken in front of all her guests.
Dax has just met Scarlett at the rehearsal dinner. He already feels that inexplicable “click,” so watching her get destroyed by his brother ignites a protective fury in him. What starts as comfort and a way to numb the pain leads to one unforgettable balcony scene where long-simmering chemistry finally explodes.
The next morning, Scarlett flees — overwhelmed with shame and emotional fallout. But what truly makes this story shine is Dax.
He is mature, steady, and absolutely certain. Once he decides Scarlett is it for him, nothing else matters — not family drama, not complications, not timing. He pursues her with intention and clarity, and I loved that he didn’t waver.
This book is packed with tension, emotion, and a love story that feels almost like fate — nearly love at first sight, but built with depth and conviction.

This steamy age gap romance had me captivated with Scarlett and Dax. When she is left at the altar it leads to a steamy encounter with his older brother that she runs away from thinking that it was only a one and done for her, but Dax has other plans when he works things out for her to come work for him. Working for him brings feelings to the forefront and when her ex tries to make a comeback a scandal breaks out and everything is on the line. Will Dax and Scarlett's endgame lead them to happiness.

-An engaging age-gap romance with emotion, chemistry, and plenty of tension. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing honest thoughts.
Scarlett’s wedding disaster leads to an unexpected and steamy connection with the groom’s older brother, Dax. What begins as a secret fling grows into something deeper as they work together and struggle against scandal and family drama. I recommend.
An excellent read with a good storyline. Scarlett is let down, badly, by her fiancé, at the altar and is rescued by his brother with whom she spends the night. Dax returns to New York and then, because she does not answer her phone or texts, he does everything he can to get her to work for him and bring her to New York. It gets better and better, even though her ex fiancé tries to get her back. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend.
Good storyline. I enjoyed both characters. Mature and smart. The writing threw me off. When the author was typing speech between the characters, it was hard to tell who was talking. I think it was a sentence of speech being a separate line with no context. It happened the entire book. It also ended quickly. There was an HEA but the last quarter of the book moved way fast to wrap everything up.
HOT, HOT, HOT is three little words to not just describe this cover but the entire romance book written by Bella. This a very sexy and phenomenal romance book with the MOST AMAZING characters and romance to have you read this book in a day very easily it's that addictive.
Poor Scarlett-left at the altar by Miles. But Dax stepped in and made her realize that what she had with Miles was not really love. (Doesn’t hurt that brother Dax is a billionaire.)
Engaging read that's way better than expected. It could do with a once over by an editor as there are a few mistakes - mostly naming errors - but was a good real nontheless.
I think if you added an epilogue following Miles we would find out that he collaborated with one of the guys on the Blackwell team that worked with Scarlett. Together they released those photos of Scarlett and Dax to the press.
