Loving, Maine is the kind of town that remembers everything—even the love stories that never got their ending.
Carter has spent a decade building a life in the place where he and Dylan once dreamed of being with each other forever. When Dylan returns after his father’s death, older and carrying the weight of the past, the air between them feels charged with everything left unsaid. Dylan once ran to survive the violence in his home. But in saving himself, he broke the only heart that ever truly knew him.
With only weeks before Dylan plans to leave again, the two men are forced to confront the ghosts of who they were and the possibility of who they could be. Some loves fade with time. Others wait patiently, daring you to come home.
All The Things We Left In Loving was a little dark and depressing at times, but overall it was a great story about healing, trauma, and grief. The story was raw and intense and emotional but told in an almost beautiful way.
In this book, Carter and Dylan get a second chance at a love they both thought they had lost. The dynamic of their relationship is complicated but their shared history makes for a love story worth fighting for. I know that with enough time and communication, their lives and relationship together will grow and heal.
Love is so powerful; it can get you threw so many raw hard moments. To have someone walk with you through darkness is truly special. To have that feeling of safety and comfort is truly amazing. A beautiful love story.
What an absolute gem of a story. Winning a copy of this story was a gift to me. This story was so much about the life we sometimes find ourselves in, the ways our head can make life harder, and the gentle healing that comes from love.
Both main characters are struggling with their lives, and the dual POV allows for such insight into loss, trauma, regret, and doubt. What does coming home feel like? How much can life change in 10 years. And how long does love last?
The greatest message from this story is the healing potential of forgiveness- from others, and from ourselves. So often, we are our own worst enemy. And we need someone in our corner to show us the kindness we cannot chow ourselves. Everyone deserves a Carter. And every Carter deserves to be surrounded by people who can love the same way he does.
I’d recommend this story to anyone who needs a reason to believe.
This is a shorter book (just over 200 pages), so it was a quick read. Despite the shorter length, this story has time to tell a beautiful story of friendship and second chances. I enjoyed reading Carter and Dylan’s story as they reunited after a decade apart. There was a lot of healing and character growth from both of them. This book is well worth a read!
What a sweet and heartwarming book! I found myself relating to the characters thoughts and feelings. This was really nice. I stayed up all night reading. This was a Goodreads giveaways win! I loved it! Bravo!
