Amusing! Bewitching!! Captivating!!! Beatrice Ashcroft is the librarian in the town of Warm River, and every librarian is an enigma. Beatrice is a Dragon, pretending to be human, concealing her blazing golden Hearthfire. She playfully puffs on a pipe to disguise her plumes of swirling, cinnamon, and molten-marshmallow scented smoke. Baking chocolate chip cookies by the dozen, she folds in fairy dust, amplifying their buttery, cocoa sweetness, making them taste always fresh-baked. Beatrice loves drinking tea, organizing the shelves, and admiring her silent and soothing library. Hosting a field day for seventh-grade hooligans was not on her day's list. One boisterous brat, Marcus, tips over bookshelves, bellows Spiderboy songs, and eventually melts her dark draconic heart! "Catrick," the talking "cat" speaks his mind in a feisty French accent! Will Marcus be sent away from Warm River by his churlish caseworker? Who is sending the ghostly golden-scripted letters to her home? This piquant prequel novel by Maggie O'Connor was enchanting! I'm reading book 1 NOW!! 5 Fetching stars!
