Tarot for Life: Reading the Cards for Everyday Guidance and Growth

Rate this book
Paul Quinn transforms the Tarot from fortune-telling into the ultimate self-help tool for intuitive guidance, empowerment, and well-being. Discover how to apply the Tarot, as a lifelong resource, to access inner wisdom and gain deeper insights and practical, inspired guidance in relationships, career, family, and personal growth. With illustrations from the Universal Waite deck, the book offers 78 engaging casebook examples (one for each card) from Quinn's readings for clients. Drawing on Jungian psychology, the Hindu chakras, and other esoteric traditions, he explains how the Tarot can reveal unconscious patterns and offer soul-directed advice leading to positive changes and greater well-being. Quinn also provides guidelines on reading the cards for oneself and others, interpreting reversed cards, handling difficult disclosures, and psychic self-care.

This is an amazingly well-structured book that I’d recommend to everybody studying the Tarot – beginners and more advanced readers alike. The writing is incredibly clear, yet super interesting and fun to read. The personal stories/example readings are a very useful touch, and the tabs about each card make Tarot for Life the perfect reference book. You basically have at your disposal all the information you need about the symbolism in the original RWS deck, well thought out musings on the cards (not too drawn out or tedious), the main numerological and astrological correspondences + some intriguing tidbits on how the numbers of the Major Arcana correlate with each other, upright and reversed meanings, key words, specific practical advice regarding each card (being, doing, shadow), journaling prompts and some well known and not so well known spreads. It’s astounding to me that I haven’t seen this book in more videos with Tarot book recommendations. I’m super thankful to The Tarot Diagnosis for mentioning it fairly often in their Instagram posts. Absolutely loved it!

This is a wise and wonderful introduction to the Tarot. The introductory chapters cover finding your inner tarot teacher, underlying principles of the Tarot, and the structure of the deck. Then follows individual meanings and interpretations for each card. Drawing from his extensive experience as a teacher and intuitive counselor, he adds an story of about each card.

The end chapters include various ways to read for self, others, and some very well-founded advice. This is an excellent book on Tarot, very well written with wisdom, grace and sometimes a sly, wicked sense of humor.

Down-to-earth intro to tarot. Pairs well with Rachel Pollack's 78 Degrees of Wisdom and a glass of sauvignon blanc probably.

I’ve read many books on the tarot over the years but this one gave me some new insights and that is why I’ve given it 5 stars. I love when I study a topic I know a lot about and can still find new and exciting ideas to add to what I already know. This is a book I’m going to return to again and again. Another great thing about this book? It was gifted to me by another Tarot enthusiast and I’m glad she was kind enough to pass it along to me.

Another Tarot book…some good ways to interpret the cards in term of attributes (i.e., key words, being, doing, shadow, reversed, advice), but I don't like the sometimes tedious stories dotting each section.

It was a nice enough book, but nothing really spectacular, nothing really novel about it. Just one more tarot compendium in my shelf, as if I needed anyther book with meanings for all the cards. But fine for those that are looking for just that.

Really loved the practical applications in this book. I've studied tarot for 18 years and this material was refreshing and practical. Enjoyed it so much I emailed the author and received a lovely response. A must read for any tarot student/practitioner.

Very comprehensive book on the tarot and I’ve read a lot of tarot books. Although I did not agree with some of the interpretations, especially the shadow interpretations, the book offered a fresh perspective and covered a lot of ground and a very clear way. Highly recommend it.
