Chuck Black first wrote Kingdom’s Edge to inspire his children to read the Bible with renewed zeal. This captivating expanded parable led him to write the Old Testament allegories, Kingdom’s Dawn, Kingdom’s Hope, Kingdom’s Call, and Kingdom’s Quest. Chuck's currents works include the Knights of Arrethtrae series, Call to Arms, and his series in progress, Wars of the Realm.
Chuck is a former F-16 fighter pilot and currently works as an engineer for a firm designing plastic consumer products and has coinvented eleven patented construction products now being sold internationally. He has a degree in electrical and electronic engineering and served eight years in the United States Air Force. Chuck and his wife have six children and live in North Dakota.
It is Chuck’s desire to serve the Lord through his work and to inspire people of all ages to study the scriptures in order to discover the hope and love of a truly majestic King and His Son.
Chuck Black has done it again. He’s weaved an amazing masterpiece that will enthrall you!
“What is happening?” Zara asked as she and Arn tried to manage all the people clamoring to reach Ledger. “Jeshu is happening,” Ledger replied. (Pg. 159)
Once again, these similar words are uttered. Wow. The power of Ell Yon! 🥹
…
Oh my. This book is so powerful. And amazing. The inspiration, the hope…wow. Chuck Black completely entwines heart wrenching emotions that make you mourn and give you courage. Ack! You will cry, laugh, scream at people to understand what you already know, and you will be inspired to serve our Sovereign with greater vigor. You will not be able to put this book down without wanting more.
Zara was definitely my favorite. I hurt and cry with her and also wished to smack some sense into both Ledger and Zara. Though I knew they had to work it out. But the sorrow. Oh the sorrow. I comfort myself (also trying to constantly remind myself that despite the truth in these stories it is also fiction) with the thought that the Jeshuans, the Navis, who fall…will be reunited with their loved ones someday. An amazing promise to all Christians as well. Each and every character in this story played an integral part in the growing process. I don’t know where the MCs would be without Arn and Ayla…they’re amazing friends!
I highly recommend this series…please go check them out if you haven’t!
And for parting I leave you with my favorite phrase…the rallying cry of this book… “Fly hard and live long!”
*I received the ARC as a part of Chuck Black’s street team. Each and every thought in here is my very own!*
Another epic episode in the Starlore Legacy Series by Chuck Black. Every year I have looked forward to reading the next installment in this series. And every year I can’t wait for the next one to come out. Which is alas, the situation I find myself in again.
The Journey is high level action from page one as you follow along with Ledger and how he fits within the Starlore legacy. This book was a real page turner for me and if you like fantasy or sci fi, this will be for you too! As I finished it I now can’t stop thinking about what is going to happen in future books!
I have also always appreciated the structure and allegories of Chuck Blacks story’s, as you can pick up the Biblical events and people that the books portray, a this book was no different. I highly recommend this book and this series for you, your teens, preteens, and everyone else!
I was given an advanced reader copy of the book by the author, but the review was written of my own volition. All views are my own in the review.
Epic and Inspirational! After being lied too, manipulated, then discarded by the man he’d called father, Ledger mistrusts everyone, including the android who's been with him his whole life, yet is much more than it had seemed. Under the weight of crushing guilt over the innocent people who were hurt or died because of Ledger's actions, he flees to the Outer Rim of the galaxy, trying to escape the ghosts of his bloody past. Despite his plans to isolate himself amongst the rough of humanity, he can't stand by when a person is being bullied. So unintentional friends are made, including the tough resilient pilot Zara Lux. And Ledger discovers there's nowhere in the galaxy where he can hide from Jeshu, the one who's followers Ledger used to hunt. Yet Ledger has been chosen by the immortal sovereign to bring hope to the galaxy. Journey is an allegory of Paul's journey from the road to Damascus to the beginning of his ministry. And it’s packed with amazing action, clean and sweet romance, and a compelling story of redemption! I love Ledger and Zara! They're both tough, yet such wounded souls! And there are so many funny moments between Rivet and Ledger! Just in chapter one I was laughing so hard! 🤣 The adventure is epic! And the message is powerful! I don't often reread book as soon as I finish them. But this book I've read twice already. It's just so good! There's immense depth to the story. So I've found rereading this series brings out even more meaning. The whole series is a SciFi masterpiece! And I don't know of any other books quite like them. Though if you haven't read the rest of the books yet, you'll still understand 80-90% of what happens in Journey. Still, I recommend you read the whole series from the beginning to get the most out of it. Note: If you can't stand cliff hangers, just don't read the last chapter of Journey until the next book comes out. Love this book! Highly recommend! Disclaimer: I received an advanced reader copy from the author, but this review is my honest opinion. I truly love these books! ❤️
And once again Chuck Black has perfected yet another incredible story!!!
Another 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read!!!
Journey is book 8 in the Starlore Legacy series and it’s been one of my most anticipated reads of this year. After the crazzzy ending of Creed and the cliffhanger that made everyone both hyped up and scared for Journey, I wasn’t sure how to go into this book. Scared cause of what I knew was coming following the timeline of events in the bible, OR excited for the next adventure I was about to go on. In the end turned out I went into the book with both emotions attached very heavily to me 🙈
Journey had many moments where I laughed, gasped, and cried. This was one big emotional rollercoaster of a book and I’m still trying to processes that ending. Why on earth does Chuck Black have to make such crazy cliffhangers??? 😭😭 And now we all have to wait ANOTHER YEAR for the next book 😦
Every scene was written out with careful detail and thought. I loved all the moments between Ledger and Zara. Absolutely going to ship them hardcore 🤭🤫 BUT I legit wanted to SMACK SOME SENSE into those two!!! They sure took long enough to figure out their destiny!!! 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️😂😂 The dance scene was my favourite tho and it lasted way too short!! I needed more!!! And then ENDING???? WHHYYY?????
Arn and Ayla definitely need to become a couple in the next book!!! The teasing between Ledger and Arn had me giggling and laughing. That was such a great bro moment for those two.
The entire story was filled with emotion, great adventures, and epic battles you won’t want to miss out on!!
I would recommend this series to anyone who loves reading sci-fi, fantasy, and epic space themed stories.
Definitely worth the wait for the book and can’t wait for book 9!!!
*I received an ARC for this book by the author. Each thought is my own*
First of all, I'd like to say that I love Chuck Black. He's always been one of my favorite authors and I still love this series! However, I do have some negative sides to this book, so if you continue to read, just know that I'm not bashing anything whatsoever.
Okay, now books 1-5 (and even a lot of book 6) of the Starlore Legacy were AMAZING! Something about them just opened my heart and softened it in such a lovely way. But starting partly in book 6 and reaching until book 8, the writing style has felt rushed and repetitive. Let me explain.
1) Rushed. The two characters grew to love each other and got married way too quick. And I don't mean in the story, I mean to the reader reading it, it happened from the middle of the book to the end. For Brae and Rhett it took more than a whole book, which feels a lot more realistic to the reader. Also, Ledger's healing of his past felt too quick too, and I would have loved to see more of his struggle when first meeting Jeshu and stuff.
2) repetitive. The love story, the hard past, the denial of love, felt like the same story on repeat. All It did to me was make me wish for Raviel, Daeson, Tig, Brae, and Rhett all over again.
Other than those two main things I really loved the book and with definitely be reading the rest of the series! Happy reading!

Well, that was amazing. 🤩 I mean, I was fully expecting it to because... ya know, it's Chuck Black. 😉 But still! Action packed. 👏🏻 Romantic. 👏🏻 Gripping. 👏🏻 Allegorical. 👏🏻 Emotional. 👏🏻 All the things. 🥹
The characters were so amazing. Both filled with such internal conflict but in different ways, which made them a really sweet match with each other. 🤍
I also loved Ledger and Zara's different journeys to faith in their own ways. I kinda thought Ledger had already began to believe in Jeshu but then when I realized it was a Paul allegory, I realized we still needed our Damascus moment. 🤭
The sci-fi elements were very sci-fi-y with robots and spaceships and crazy tech! So fun 😄
Oh, oh, oh, and the found family friendships were precioussss! I loved all of them. 🥰
Overall, such a fun read!! But that ending. 😭 Can't WAIT for the next one!!
✨ 4.5 Stars ✨
FTC Disclosure: I received a eARC copy of this book from Chuck Black and Perfect Praise Publishing but I was not required to leave an positive reviews. All thoughts and opinions here are my own!
Out of the hundreds of books I read and review, it has been quite some time that a story gripped me as much as Journey, the eighth episode in the Starlore Legacy by Chuck Black. I read the book entirely within one day, trying to convince myself to move on to other subjects… but unable to put it down.
With a riveting plot, intergalactic setting, themes that span time and space to be relevant to modern-day Christians, and characters whose charm and humor made me laugh out loud at numerous points throughout the story, Journey is one of a few select tales that leaves me longing for more, and eagerly awaiting the next book in this series.
Chuck Black’s stories never cease to thrill me. Journey should be the next title on your shelf.
This was an amazing book and definitely a wonderful addition to the series! I had to reread Creed to understand all of the different things, but once I knew what the context was, I could not put the book down - literally! The characters are all lovable and relatable and the story had me sobbing both tears of joy and sorrow as I followed Ledger and his group of friends through their journey as followers of Jeshu. I could not recommend this book more highly! Thank you Mr. Black for another wonderful addition to the series.
Chuck has done it again! This book grabbed me from page one and yet again I find myself having to wait for the next one. This Book, like the others was written beautifully and I loved how he told this particular allegory regarding Paul. I will always highly recommend this series for teens, or anyone who enjoys a good sci-fi with biblical events woven in!
Review of an advanced copy received from Author, review written is of my own violation. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Journey is an amazing tale of forgiveness and conflict, making it a great addition to Chuck Black’s Starlore Legacy series. Filled with adventure and mystery, readers will follow the main character through dangerous situations that test his newfound faith in the Merchant. This book is a fun read for anyone who likes a suspenseful science-fiction novel with biblical values and allegorical truths.
This whole series has been amazing, and with Journey, we see the development of Ledger (Paul), and his "Journey" to a right understanding of El Yon and the "Merchant". The supporting charactera and storyline is so well done. I received an advanced readers copy from the Perfect Praise Street Team and have really enjoyed the discussions with other readers about the book and series.

As a kid Chuck Black's books were one of my favorites to read and When I read the Starlore Legacy They are really Good!!!!! and since Creed Chuck Blacks Books have BEEN TOP NOTCH!!!!!!!!!! Highly recommend reading this if you like Christian Fiction, and the bible stories rapped in space!
Another great book by Chuck Black; definitely a family favorite novel/series! I highly recommend Journey for a family-friendly reading option. Once you start reading Journey, it may be challenging to put the book down.
Action-packed, fast-paced, loose allegory of Paul the apostle's conversion and beginning of his ministry. Book 8 of a planned 12-book series. Recommend for teens and up. Content considerations: hi-tech sci-fi terminology, some violence & evil, mild romance.
I always look forward to the release of a new Starlore book, and Journey did not disappoint!
It's always a little bittersweet for me to start following a new generation of characters and leave behind the old ones we've grown to love, but I loved following Ledger's story and can't wait to see where it goes next. (Also, I loved the overlap with Brae and Rhett in this book--even though Ledger was the main character, it was so special to see both generations overlap for a significant part of the story.) This book featured a fun new cast of characters, and some unique settings I enjoyed seeing fleshed out.
The biggest reason I love Chuck's books is for the way they make me think, for how they reframe the familiar stories and truths of Scripture in a new format that lets me see them in a fresh way. I think it can be easy to skim over the story of Paul without pausing to think too deeply, because we're so familiar with it. But following Ledger's journey and seeing him process and come to know Ell Yon puts the story in a new perspective and highlights aspects of the true story I might not notice otherwise.
All in all, Journey is a powerful, entertaining adventure I'd highly recommend. My only complaint is that now I have to wait until next year to read book 9...
