Her Objection

Rate this book
The first rule of pupillage?
Don’t want your supervisor.

Chloe Hartley has worked too hard to risk her future at Firth Chambers. But Victoria Shaw KC — brilliant, controlled, and fifteen years her senior — makes restraint feel impossible.
Victoria doesn’t blur lines.
She doesn’t lose control.
And she certainly doesn’t take her pupils to bed.
Then a high-profile murder trial traps them in late nights and closed-door strategy sessions. The accused stands charged with killing her abusive husband — and one mistake in court could destroy everything.
As the pressure mounts, so does the tension.
Chloe is used to proving herself.
Victoria is used to being obeyed.
The shift from authority to desire is slow… and dangerous.
Because once Victoria lets her guard slip, she doesn’t hold back.
In court, they fight for a woman’s freedom.
Behind closed doors, control turns into surrender — and crossing the line could cost them both everything.
Objection is an explicit age-gap, forbidden workplace sapphic romance with intense chemistry, power dynamics, and a guaranteed HEA.

Enjoyable

What an age gap that was beautifully written and told. Victoria has been hurt and not sure on ‘how to get back on the proverbial horse’ for dating. There is instant attraction that Victoria is going not now. Well, attraction doesn’t listen and it was just a matter of time. The romance is hot and how the MC’s figure it out works wonderfully. I loved how quietly Chloe suggested ideas and helped to curate helping their client. The verdict rendered was I felt befitting the circumstances.
The ending was worded quite interesting since it told us that Victoria was becoming accustomed to having Chloe around to have a lived in home.

What a marvelous read! A lonely barrister and her pupil working to win a difficult case.

Clara Beckett is quite a descriptive writer. This is the first book of hers I have read, I am not disappointed! The world she has brought us to is intense, a law practice in London. The difficult case of murder vs self defense in a domestic abuse situation is deep and well written. The relationship that develops between the pupil and the barrister is realistic. Just fine writing all around!

Oh my goodness, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the characters, especially the way Victoria really tried not to develop feelings for Chloe. It highlighted the fact that life takes unsuspected turns sometimes. The characters were depicted so human with their faults and weaknesses.
The storyline captured me the entire time, I could not put this down! I enjoyed the court proceedings and reality of how easily things can go wrong in court.
Thank you for a brilliant book!

If you just want vibes it’s 2.5 stars.
This book starts out ok. But there are so many confusing plotting instances where it gets confused what’s happening who is where and jumps around. And there are dialogues that don’t make sense. Then entire timeline of the relationship is just bad.
Almost seems like AI maybe wrote portions and it confused places and characters.

Good story but…

Overall, well written. I would have given it 5 stars but it had a couple of continuity issues I couldn’t get over… and the dog not being taken out. The sex scenes, while fairly explicit were overall pretty short. It was good enough I’m going to give the next book in this series a try.

Short and good

This book was short but good. The spice wasn't intense so to speak but mild. The Ending was good but might have been a tiny bit better All in all though this book is decent.

Her Objection

I greatly enjoyed this book. Reading about Victoria and Chloe’s experiences was wonderful. I loved the strength of Victoria’s silence and how Chloe brought just enough noise.

Comfortable and absorbing

Like their love making a story that was fascinating to read.
Chloe and Victoria, two real opposites, molded into a couple that benefits from their differences

This was cheeks - instalove/instalust is actually the worst trope and I should've put this book down when it started in the first few pages.

The poetic way the story was written captivated me. The relationship was not rushed it grew. Loved every word I read.

Somewhat on the fence about this! Liked the story. It was almost poetic in some places which is why I actually gave it five stars. BUT seems A.I (ish) to me.
