I listened to this book, and the story was not bad, but it was just too many instances of unrealistic happenings. I get using imagination and all, but quite a bit of this book is just unrealistic. Please prepare yourself for the overuse of the word 'lord' to address someone and the phrase 'on lord ' to indicate sincerity 😩😩 it was too much. The male narrators voice didn't match how the characters' voice should've been; it gave high schoolers playing gangster.

This was fun! Loco is a menace lol 4.5 🌟

I enjoyed Loco so much! He was a menace, but he also found love in Diamond! Diamond wasn't the average Girl he was used to, and she let him know he needed to do more than be flashy to get with her. Loco showed Diamond all the ways he could be everything to her, while of course still being true to himself! Diamond had some growing pains, but I'm glad she finally gave in to let Loco love her and her niece. I really love how the family showed up for one another in this book, everyone except Gwen smh. Seeing Jabari, Prynce, and Loco all together was nice to read as well! I just enjoyed this read.
Looking forward to what T’Lyn comes out with next!

✨Book Review✨

Yeah… go ahead and add Loco (Makhai Matthews) to the Book Bae list IMMEDIATELY.

Because we love us an unapologetic, bold, confident, HONEST man who can actually back up what he says — and that’s exactly what Loco is.

Makhai has always been loyal — to his hood, his brothers, and his career. He’s a rising rapper with a reputation for being just as reckless as he is talented, and he has ZERO intentions of slowing down or changing.

But life will humble you real quick…
especially when it sends you exactly what you need.

Enter Diamond Scott.

Diamond is focused, career-driven, and fresh out of a relationship with a cheating man — so yeah, she’s not checking for nobody. Especially not some wild, reckless rapper.

But what she WASN’T ready for?

Loco living up to his name.

Because when I tell you this man applied PRESSURE??
I mean PRESSURE.

Diamond not answering his messages?
That didn’t stop a thing.

This man literally said:
“Diamond still wasn’t responding to a nigga, so I just took that as she wanted to see me in person.”

SIR??? 😂😂

So yeah… when I say he wasn’t taking no for an answer, I mean that man turned silence into a green light and kept it pushing 🤭

Now let’s be very clear about ONE thing…

If you thought you were about to disrespect Diamond or put your hands on her??

Yeah… Loco was NOT playing about his woman.

The way he handled Gwen’s dusty ass boyfriend had me like 😬
but also… 🤷🏾‍♀️ oh well 😂

That man stood TEN TOES behind her at all times.

And what I really loved about Diamond is that she didn’t fold easily. She made it very clear:

“I’m not impressed by money, fame, or none of that. You disrespect me, I’m out.”

And Loco heard her loud and clear.

Because for all his chaos, he was a man of his word. His actions matched EVERYTHING he said, and that’s what made him hit different.

Now… when life took a serious turn with that NICU call??

Yeah… that’s where Loco solidified himself for me.

That man showed UP.

He didn’t hesitate. He didn’t falter. He stood right beside her and made sure she didn’t go through that alone.

And the way he loved on Baby Lord??
Yeah… that was too cute 🥹

Whole time I’m sitting here like…
who knew this unhinged, slightly psychotic man was really a lover boy??

Because he was giving full provider AND protector energy.

And let’s not even get into all the little moments that had me weak…

That Safari scene??
I was HOLLERING 🤣🤣

That man said absolutely not to them animals and honestly??
I’m right there with him 😂

Overall, I had SUCH a good time with this story.

It was funny, chaotic, emotional, and full of moments that just made you sit there like “yeah… he’s crazy… but I like him” 😂

I DNF'd this about 5 chapters in. I listened, and it was unrealistic and very juvenile. I just think I may be to mature to hear people constantly calling each other lord and referring to females as bitches and other derogatory terms without provocation. This was not my kind of writing.

Okay so I started this book, stopped, and deleted it from my library. Then I came across it again while browsing and couldn’t remember why I stopped… so I downloaded it again.

Then I saw why.

“Lord.”

I could not take it.

He says that word so much I had to actually stop and check how many times it was used… 200 times. For the life of me, I don’t understand why he’s calling everybody “Lord.”
At first I thought it was maybe a cult or gang thing that him and his crew used, but no. He says it to everybody. It just kept throwing me me off.

Lord: a person who has authority, control, or power over others; or a title used to address someone of high status.

So why is he saying it to literally everyone?

UncleDaddy

Oh, Ms. T'Lyn, you have this gift where you make these characters seem so real. I feel like Loco was one of the homies I can call up just to chill. Now, granted, he was a whole celebrity plus a thug. And lived both lives proudly. He was loco in every sense of the word, but he had a heart of gold. Once he laid eyes on Diamond, they sparkled for her from that point on. He was there to help her when everything hit the fan with Gwen, her sister. Diamond tried her hardest to get her sister on the straight and narrow, but she wasn't successful. She did what she had to do, so she pulled up her big girl panties and handled things. I love how she went about it, and of course Loco was right there beside her. He played two important roles as an uncle and father. He grew to love Diamond with all his heart. I have a favorite scene that I read more than once, and it's the safari one. I cracked a rib laughing at Loco. I thought it was hilarious that he was the only one in a frenzy.

Ms. T'Lyn, you did your thing on this one, but you always deliver. You understand the assignment well. I am hoping that a few more books are birthed from this one. Kabria needs to tell her story. In addition, it would be lovely to witness Gwen get her life together. However, ladies and gents, since I strongly recommend this book, please take the time to download and read.

Loco is the one and I love him - he is easily one of my favorite male characters penned by T’Lyn. Yes, he’s a little crazy and impulsive but he is the good kind of possessive and loves hard. Loco is a rapper and gang member but also a great friend, lover, and father figure to “Baby Lord”. When Loco lays eyes on Dime, it was literally love at first sight - the man knew she was his future wife. But Dime isn’t impressed with hood fame or the glitz and glamour. Dime said you will step correctly or step off, and what did Loco do? He STEPPED CORRECTLY! I know that’s right! I live for Dime’s character, she’s ambitious but when she receives an unexpected call from the NICU she did not hesitate to step up and I respect that the most. In a way, Dime’s story hit close to home for me. I love the way she gave grace to her sister Gwen and creates boundaries because at the end of the day - there is an innocent child being impacted. Loco in daddy mode was truly special because he didn’t change who he was, in fact Dime and Baby Lord made him grind harder. Ugh, I love this man! lol! 😆

This book had no business being this funny. I laughed out loud more than a few times. It was genuinely such a good time.

I absolutely loved Loco. He’s a playboy, an asshole, reckless, and just a little unhinged. I loved watching Diamond refuse to entertain his usual antics and how she essentially forced him to grow up just by being herself. The way he course corrected and showed up for Diamond and Baby Lord? I ate that up. Seeing his character development and softer, loverboy side come out was a highlight for me! I also really enjoyed the dynamic he had with his family and his brothers.

Diamond was ambitious and strong-willed, and I admired how she showed up for Keona without hesitation. She did frustrate me at times with how quickly she jumped to conclusions and how she held her ex’s actions against Loco, but it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment. I felt for her with her situation with her sister. This is a book I wouldn’t have minded a 5-10 year epilogue because I’d love to see how things worked out in the long run.

Loco and his Diamond

This was a good time, but T'Lyn always delivers. Loco was a fool and funny as h*ll. He didn't play when it came to Diamond or Baby Lord. Diamond fought him for a bit, but he wasn't letting up once he set his sights on her. The safari scene had me cracking up, and watching them grow as a couple was super sweet to read.

This was just okay to me no real stand out moments or characters. I kept getting distracted and wanting to do other things while reading it. I didn’t really get Diamond needing to be shown so many times that Gwen ain’t give a damn but yeah.

Diamond worked my nerves! I was with her at first, run that strict program sis. But damn, at some point you’re blocking your blessings. She and Baby Lord brought the patient, gentle side out of Makhai. Makhai/Loco was so casually crazy! Diamond’s sister needs her ass whooped!

The Couple Carried It, But the Plot Couldn’t Keep Up

The characters were the best part of this one, and honestly they almost saved it.

Loco was a lot, but that was the point. He really did live up to his name. Rough, funny, extra, and completely locked in on Diamond from jump. I appreciated how sure he was about her and how relentlessly he pursued her without it feeling creepy. That balance is hard to pull off and the author did it well.

Diamond was easy to root for too. She had been through it, but she still knew her worth and never let Loco swallow her whole. Watching her hold her own against his big personality was one of the more entertaining parts of the book. Their dynamic was fun and there were a few scenes that genuinely had me smiling.

Where the book lost me was the plot. There were storylines that felt like they were building toward something and then just kind of… fizzled. The ending especially felt rushed, like the author was ready to wrap up before I was ready to leave. A few threads that got introduced early never really got the resolution they deserved. By the time I finished, the couple had made me smile but the story itself didn’t stick.

Not a bad read at all. The friend group was a great bonus (and great see some favorite older characters) and the humor landed more often than not. I just wanted the plot to show up the way the characters did.

Makhai a.k.a. Loco 🤪❤️

Ok so I am going to say this while holding y’all’s hand, “I will take anybody to the trail rides who wanna claim that Loco is their man.” 😂🤷🏾‍♀️ Loco a.k.a. Makhai was not playing when it came to Diamond. I loved their dynamic and their relationship. My girl Diamond was not the one for Makhai to play with. She made him work to get her attention. The lengths that Makhai went through to get to Diamond had me swooning because he just didn’t have the sense that god gave him.

Makhai was entertaining to say the least. He was also outspoken and just plainly said whatever was on his mind and he didn’t care who he said it to or how they felt about it. I loved Makhai real bad because he is rough around the edges, but soft with the people he loved. Makhai was a good wholesome blend of toxic, unhinged, thug, and lover all in one fine @ss man. I loved the way Ms. Author Lady balanced Makhai out with his street game and his music career. That was dope and different. We all love a balanced man just as much as we loved a balanced diet…Am I right ladies🤔? I know I am right.

Penny for my thoughts to the Author, “There needs to be a part 2 somehow because one book is not enough.” Love and Thank Ya!!!

Anywho, please go buy, download, and read expeditiously to get your fix on my man my man my man Loco a.k.a. Makhai.

This story was so cute and easy to get into. We follow Malachi, also known as Loco, who we met through Prince and Jabari’s circle. Loco is a rapper who ends up falling for Diamond, a preschool teacher whose life gets flipped upside down when she has to step in and raise her niece while her sister can’t.

Watching Loco and Diamond try to merge their two very different worlds felt real and grounded. I really enjoyed how their relationship developed, especially with everything they both had going on. The friendship between Loco, Prince, and Jabari is still one of my favorite parts of this series. It feels genuine, loyal, and full of history. And if you’ve been reading along, the pop-out from King was a nice touch.

Diamond and her best friend had a bond I loved seeing. That kind of “I got you no matter what” friendship always adds something special to the story. At the same time, I appreciated how Loco moved. He did things his way, stood on who he was, and didn’t let anyone sway him.

I also understood Diamond’s hesitation and insecurities. Given her past, her reactions made sense and didn’t feel forced. The only thing I wanted more of was Tristan. It felt like he was going to play a bigger role, so I was a little surprised when that didn’t fully happen.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. This author is quickly becoming one of my favorites, and I love getting lost in Crescent Falls and Diamond Falls. Those worlds just feel like home at this point. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book and seeing more from these characters.

Phew 😮‍💨 Lord is something else!!!!

This was such a cute reprieve from juggling life around and throughout this whole book, the only thing I kept on thinking was that I wish I was there instead of here where chaos lives in our country.
Anyway let me stop because I am digressing…. Well let’s start with my lord, Locco, who by the way have me singing “what a man, what a man, what a mighty fine man…. Yes he is”. Well the saying stands with him that when you find the one or the it thing that can and will make you change, you go full blown on lord! (Only thing was there was just a little bit too much of mission impossible and no law enforcement around but then again MyKing was there, I guess that explains it all)…
Diamond on the other hand was cute at the beginning but this insecurity that she kept on showing was such a turn off and childish. I ended up not liking her at all. Kabria was ok and it was so nice to read the others but still a little bit disappointed not knowing what’s happening in their lives, a little bit, but it was still fire 🔥.
Few authors have me always drop everything to read them and and MS. T’Lyn is definitely one of them… until next time, but go have some fun now with Locco!

Diamond and Makhai, The Family We Created

An unhinged man with a heart!!!…This was a wonderful start to my weekend!!!…I laughed more than I like to admit and clutched my pearls just as much!!!…
This book was written so well and the story unfolded so beautifully!!!…
Makhai(Loco) showed that the right woman will make you wanna change, not try and change you!!!…
I love how Diamond made him work for her!!!…Showed him she knew her value and she was worth being chased, now showing she knew how to chase a man!!!…
My heart broke with every effort Diamond made to try and help Gwen, but I was glad that she listened and started to understand that Gwen will have to make that decision!!!…Diamond’s heart was so pure and I was happy she was not selfish with Baby Girl when Lanced was properly vetted!!!…Them being part of his circle will give Baby Girl the village she deserves!!!…
Lance story was a beautiful one too!!!…He worked on getting himself together and knew his daughter was a reason to stay on the road of being clean and healthy!!!…
I’m sad this book ended, but their story appeared to have been completed with no questions unanswered!!!…

I’ve gotten to 64% and I’m struggling find the purpose/plot for this book. It started out pretty good, but now that I’ve gotten so far and nothing has really happened I mean except the MMC killed a couple ppl (not surprising), the female character is working my nerves about her sister. I mean your grown so I’m not sure atp 2026 or whenever this book was written we know what drugs do to a person. So to keep acting shocked and appalled by the sister’s actions is annoying. At the very least let’s give her credit for at least leaving the baby at the hospital and not somewhere more dangerous. And why are the social workers looking for her? With her being addicted to drugs did she really think it was wise for her to take the baby with her? I can see her selling the baby if so, so why act surprised? I did like the MMC but at the same time I didn’t get chemistry btw the two. And like so many others have said the use of “Lord” was quite irritating, I almost stopped reading way before i actually.

Overall I wasn’t excited with the read, it was borderline boring to me. I eventually had to start skipping to make it as far as I did before I decided to DNF.

Makhai and Diamond were just too damn cute 😩. You had the whole bad guy, rapper, gang leader energy mixed with a daycare teacher vibe… and somehow it WORKED. Diamond was not here for the nonsense, sis had trust issues for a reason and definitely wasn’t checking for a known hoe. But life started life-ing, and she found herself stepping into a whole new role… whether she planned to or not. Meanwhile, Makhai (Loco)? That man was LOCKED IN. His determination had me hooked from start to finish. When he sees something, he wants, it’s a wrap by any means necessary. And the way he demanded respect while still showing up for Diamond? Whew. When he checked people about his respect...my type of energy! Now let’s talk about this audiobook 🎧… because BABY, it took the story to a whole other level. The narrators did their thing, and I swear I cannot get the word “Lord” out of my head 😂 I’m one step away from calling my kids “Lord”. The pacing was on point, the side characters added so much dept to the story, and Loco’s family? Loved his parents' energy. They knew who they raised.

I love me some T’Lyn!

This story follows Loco & Diamond. Loco is just what his name means. If “FAFO” was a person, it would be him and he stood on business. He is a famous rapper and street boy who is known for running through women until he meets our girl Diamond.

Diamond is an Educator at a daycare hoping to one day be the Director. She has one hell of a story…from grief to addictions to in her family. Well something transpires and she ends up having to take on a responsibility. She is not looking for anything especially from Loco’s kind seeing that she just got out of a negative situation.

If you love a story where a man pursuits a woman to the fullest extent, this is it for you! Loco was the definition of “when you find a good thing, keep her!” He was not coming up off Diamond at all. But in all of Loco’s craziness, he was extremely thoughtful and romantic.

And their spice scenes? …just nasty…in a good way! 😅

Loco motto was stick and run, and maybe circle back sometimes lol 😂, but he was not in a committed relationship with these women, so he kept doing him until the right one came along.

Meet Diamond where she has dealt with an ex cheating and dealing with the mess with her sister (take a breath), that she was not trusting someone like Loco with his track record.

Loco once he realized Diamond was the one, he treated her like a queen, and he gave all the feels and good vibes. He was crazy AF, but he was there for Diamond! Like he said, “he’s growing, not grown”.

With mistrust from Diamond, she’s waiting for the other shoe to drop with Loco and she will FAFO, and she will lose a good man.

There were so many good feels, and how Loco went all out for his Queen.

I wanted to see how things panned out with Baby Lord though in the epilogue! I can use my imagination!!!

Just my thoughts...

Loco is intentional from the start and makes it clear he’s serious about Diamond, which was refreshing to see. His character stood out, especially with his supportive family and close-knit circle of friends who modeled healthy, loving relationships. Watching him step up not just for Diamond but also for her niece added another layer to his growth.

Diamond, on the other hand, struggled with trust and communication, which created some frustrating moments. Her dynamic with her sister, particularly around addiction and denial, felt heavy but realistic, even if it seemed like she ignored clear warning signs. While Loco’s “playboy turned serious” arc worked, the repeated use of “Lord” in reference to his gang became a bit tiring. Overall, it’s a solid read with a mix of romance, growth, and real-life complications.

Match Made in heaven!

I really enjoyed Loco & Dime because she was just as funny and crazy as he was. They were truly a good match for one another. I love the parental trope and roles that they took on but I was rooting for Gwen to get it together. I love a T’Lyn story because you can always find funny moments mixed with street things. Loco had no problem going city to city being about that action, i dont know what was funnier- the gas station scene or the scene with Tristan. Dime was a boss, i loved how she was so nurturing and loved her job along with her crazy bestie. This was a good wrap to the Lords crew & we can’t forget baby Lord and the way she had Loco wrapped around her finger too!

TLYN GOT ANOTHER HIT 🔥🔥🔥

I am completely convinced something is wrong with T’Lyn and something must be wrong with me cause I’m here for her nonsense!! Loco might definitely be my new favorite of her MMCs with the most reckless ass mouth and say whatever but yet make that shit sound sexy as hell!! Man I def need to go back and reread the Masters cause I forgot why they said Lord so much but Diamond laid out her rules and expectations and while she expected Loco to come and break her heart she got Makhai!! And Makhai wasn’t playing!! Diamond had her issues especially dealing with her sister and taking on her niece and communication issues but once she was in she ain’t play about Makhai!! Oh man I loved it!! Def one of my faves of 2026 so far!!

Loco and Diamond

Loco definitely lived up to his name. He was hood, rough around the edges, and had manners when it counted. Grew up in a two parent household, but he was exactly who he knew he was. Diamond having a rough upbringing losing both parents at a young and really having to fend for herself because her oldest sister got strung out on drugs. Loco met Diamond and he didn’t let up off her AT ALL. He was not playing about Dime and he had no issue with dating and courting her. What her sister did was unforgivable and Diamond did what needed to be done and Loco went above and beyond. They were so cute together I just love when the FMC let the MMC spend a bag on her no talk back.
