As is traditional for this run, we begin with a puzzle, but once the SOS hidden in the cosmic background radiation is decoded, that turns out to be the beginning of a five-part story, as against the usual ones and twos. And given how uninspiring most of Marvel has been lately, anything bringing one of its few good books closer to the rest of the line must be regarded warily. Lo and behold, the threat turns out to be a dramatisation of that old staple, 'surely Sue could take down the rest of the FF'. And the rest of the planet, and oh, let's dress her as Malice while we're about it, why not? Obviously it's executed with more spark than most of the House of Worn-Out Ideas' recent reworks and rejigs, because it's by Ryan North, but it's still far from a highlight of his tenure. And while I was excited when Ramos joined on art, the visuals having sometimes lacked the character of the writing, some of the bigger scraps here are tricky to follow, though that may be down to the colouring.
