Court of Anguish

Rate this book
There are many things that go bump in the night, and I am one of them.

I was born to lead my people. As a succubus, sex, power, and revelry are what I trade in… until all that is all taken away from me.

Our home, our sanctuary, is invaded and desecrated by men we trusted, and our people are chained and claimed, including me.

I play their game, swallowing the cost, until they try to kill me. Now, all bets are off, but if I want to reclaim what is rightfully mine and free my people, then I will need help.

I never expected assistance to come in the form of rejected monsters, ones people have turned their backs on for millennia, but I know all about suffering and evil, and I won’t let them deny me the use of their powers. I will claim these monsters as my own and use them to save the people I love, no matter the cost.

Welcome to the Court of Anguish, where pain guides vengeance.

As a court of succubi, they are betrayed by the men they trusted with their bodies They unalive her mother and enslave her court. They’re chained and abused. Elara is left for dead after they all assaulted her in front of her court. She is able to escape and plans to return with help to take her court back. She first meets Frost, a dragon, in the woods outside her court. He immediately knows she’s his mate and offers to to help. He flies her to see the hunter Tate to ask for help. There Corbin, a bear shifter, is enthralled by her and offers to help no questions asked. Tate tells Elara of an incubi in a nearby city and of a powerful mind walker in a black site that could help. They find Bellami but he is reluctant at first and only agrees if she makes him an equal in her court. He won’t be ruled by anyone ever again. They travel to the black site to find the mind walker, Luan. When he realizes Elara is a pure soul he agrees to help. Frost knows of a powerful creature, some call a god, he would be a powerful ally if she can convince him. They travel to the island he’s bound to and Elara is able to free Eversore but in doing so binds him to her. He hates her for it and threatens to kill her any chance he gets. He agrees to help first though. Elara isn’t able to feed on lust after the abuse she suffered and learns she can feed on anguish instead. Elara’s journey is not just about revenge, it’s also about reclaiming herself, her sexuality, and her throne. Elara is kind, loyal, and resilient. Frost, Corbin, Luan, and Eversore are loners who’s people turned on them or betrayed them. They find a home with Elara. Each mmc has a distinct personality and inner dialogue. They each are able to help Elara in their own way. The men recognize Elara’s pure spirit and want to help and remain by her side after. While the plot is fast paced, full of action and super hot spice, there is also healing. She learns she can be vulnerable and powerful.

A Few Favorite Quotes:
“Never. You can take my body, home, and bloodline, but you will never take my strength. Do your worst, false king, and when you are through, I will still be a queen.”

“I find something in that moment, however, as they steal something that isn’t theirs to take. I learn I can feed on pain, on anguish, and I do. I gather that power inside me, and I use it to keep myself alive when my body wants to die. I will not end here tonight. I will survive. I will free our people. Those words follow me into oblivion as I finally pass out.”

“I hate men. I really do. But these men? I can’t explain it. There’s something about them that makes me feel safe for the first time in a week.”

“You have us—the outcasts. We need you. We carry the same anguish. We do not fit anywhere. We are driven by anger and pain. We need you, Elara. Can’t you see that? When this is over, we are not going anywhere.”

“Feeding on anguish makes me stronger than feeding on lust, which is something I will never admit.”

“Next time, I’ll kill you,” he warns, but it sounds more like a flirtatious comment than a threat, so I just smile.”

“What was once a court of anguish for me and my people has become one of hope and loyalty, and I pray they heed my call.”

“It’s not easy being a queen, but my kings make it worthwhile.”

I Give this Book a 4/5 Star Rating.

HEA(?): Yes!
Relationship Type: RH>Reverse Harem: MFMMMM
Romance: 4/5
Heat: 4/5
Pacing: Mid
Drama & Suspense: 2.5-3?/5, there wasn’t as much throughout as I was expecting, but the beginning and end is where the drama was focused but I felt a subtle build up so this hit palate cleanser level, cause I felt so relaxed during & after reading this.
Dark(?): it’s Dark lite for sure and on that scale 3/5, it wasn’t dark to me but it may be for others.

Well I opened the book and the zone kicked in and I was immediately immersed. I got the traction I needed and I couldn’t leave the book I had to finished it 😆
And yes meals were skipped to read this 🤣, I didn’t realize how badly I needed this book. I Loved every second of it, it’s was a great palate cleanser.

4.3 stars.
I really liked Elara, and all the guys.
I just felt like no one thing ever went all that deep. Even Elara’s suffering and gradual healing, though it was kind of the focus of the book, never went too deep.

Another fantastic read from KA Knight!

She really writes the BEST FMC's out there! This one was a brutal read and Court of Anguish is accurately named! Elara hit me in all the feels. I felt her pain, I felt her anguish, her sorrow but she also put me back together again! What she goes through and how she heals is just amazing. Terrified to let anyone back in, each of her collected me seem to repair a part of her heart piece by piece. Each one amazing it his own right. The give her the time she needs to heal, allowing her to make the decisions and happy to just be by her side. (Having suffered their own fates they uniquely understand how she feels)

Frost is my favorite, I mean who doesn't love a dragon shifter! He gives me golden retriever vibes with a Rottweiler's sense of protection.

Luan is broken, but it's Elara's love that helps piece him back together. He's reserved, afraid to let anyone in at first but feeling her pure heart he allows her behind his walls and what an amazing man he is.

Corbin, I choose the bear! Soft, cuddly, broken and lost Elara shows him trust, love and loyalty. Slowly he let's his long locked down personality to shine and he shines like a brilliant star.

Bellami, he suffered the exact same way she did. Used and abused by his court he is reluctant to get close to another succubus. He finds that she is his mate when his powers and sexual drive begin to react to her. She shows him the same kindness and respect the men show her, allowing him to heal in his own time and finding her way into his heart.

Eversor, He's our grumpy man. Understandably so, after being locked and abandoned on an island in isolation for centuries, he is shocked when he realizes Elara is the key to his freedom. However in freeing him she had also bound him to herself. Understanding the pain of being chained, she agrees to allow him to unalive her for his freedom once her court is safe. They love to hate each other and even though they fight like cats and dogs there's a spark neither of them can ignore.

This is a fast paced, reverse harem that breaks you and rebuilds you! I enjoyed every moment of it! I would have finished it in a day if life didn't life so hard this week!

This was so good! I couldn't put this down...

Our fmc is Elara. She is brave, kind, loyal, intelligent and a queen in every sense of the word.

Our mmc's are Frost, Corbin, Bellami, Luan and Eversor. These men aren't your typical men, they are all loners in their own right but also extremely powerful supernaturals. They are all so different but also the same in various ways. Frost is a dragon, Corbin in a shifter, Bellami is a incubus, Luan is a mind walker and Eversor is a creature, but some call him a god.

The plot was amazing as always. Elara's court has been taken over and with the help of some of Elara's fellow Succubus, she escapes but vows to save them from the pain they are actively experiencing. Under a hunter's guidance, Elara sets off to find 4 men or monsters to help reclaim her court. Little does Elara realise, they all seem to be drawn to her, even Eversor who has little respect for others. Due to the horrific treatment Elara received, she feels lost but over her journey with her monsters, she soon realises that maybe life isn't all bad especially with these men by her side. Her men are everything, i can't decide who i love more. They would do anything for her and truly believe in her.

This story is full of heartbreak, acceptance, kindness, freedom, love and so much more. Elara and her men do get their happy ending but it is quite a journey to get there. This story is really beautiful. Even though Elara thought she was "damaged and broken", through her own strength and determination (and some help from her men) she was able to find a new happiness, broken bits and all.

Court of Anguish is worth the read, I absolutely love this universe.

Shout out to Tate and her fated, iykyk...

Thank you so much Katie and Courtney for the opportunity to read this story and to be a part of your ARC team. I am forever grateful 🖤

🖤 ARC REVIEW 🖤

I swear KA Knight could write anything and I’d eat it up every single time 😩🖤

Court of Anguish??? Yeah… this one HURT.

From the very first chapter you’re thrown straight into Elara’s trauma and there is no easing into it. It’s dark, it’s heavy, and honestly hard to read at times—but that’s what makes her journey hit so much harder.

Because this isn’t just about what she went through… it’s about watching her claw her way back.

Elara is that kind of FMC who is broken but never weak. Watching her relearn herself—her power, her body, even how to feel again—was everything to me 🥺

And the men??? Don’t even get me started.

Frost, Corbin, Luan, Bellami, and Eversore are not just “hot monsters” (even though… yes 🥵). They’re all damaged, rejected, feared—and they see Elara for who she truly is and choose to stand beside her anyway.

Each of them brings something different to her healing and I LOVED that. It’s not just spice for the sake of spice (but trust me…it’s there and it’s GOOD 🔥). It’s connection, protection, and this growing found family that just wraps around you.

And Eversore??? Sir??? The tension??? The anger??? The “I might kill you but also won’t leave you” energy??? I was eating that up 😂🖤

This book is fast-paced, emotional, and honestly just a lot in the best way. It doesn’t shy away from the dark stuff at all, so definitely check your TW/CW ⚠️

BUT if you can handle it, this story gives you:
🖤 healing after trauma
🖤 “touch her & die” energy
🖤 broken men who would burn the world for her
🖤 found family
🖤 and a FMC who learns she can be both soft and powerful

KA Knight will forever be one of my favorite authors because she writes pain, healing, and devotion in a way that just hits different.

Now I’m just sitting here like… okay but I need more immediately??? 😭

(Also went back on a binge and was re-reading this WHOLE series and I happened to read this book a 2ND time if that says anything! I’m in love with this series! 🖤)

Thank you K.A Knight and Courtney Dunham for the opportunity to review this! Congratulations Katie on the new release 🖤

Advanced copy graciously received from the Queen herself! The anguish I felt when I finished the story....
So I have to shout out and say THANK YOU x INFINITY to KA KNIGHT and her people for allowing me the opportunity to read this amazing book.
I'm a big fan of KA Knight, and she is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.
I loved Den of Vipers, but then I picked up the Court and Kings Series and it captured my heart.
She is so talented writing all these fabulous RH/why books, and this one did not disappoint!

It's a fast-paced read, with action starting in the first few chapters, which I loved. I need books like this one to capture my attention right away. I was annoyed every time I had to put this book down and be a responsible adult. If I could, I would've finished this book in one sitting. Elara was a great FMC. The only time she annoyed me really was when she didn't realize all her monsters were her fated mates. I love that this world had all these different monsters and more! Like how cool that you are fated to all these different monsters and their powers?! Frost is this super hot dragon, Corbin is this gruffy bear shifter, Bellami is this seductive incubus, and Eversor?! one of a kind. If I had to pick a favorite, maybe Bellami, but then again, Luan and Frost were hot too, and damn, I guess I need my own RH too....

I would've personally loved more background info on her mother and the other succubi and how they came to be at the court her mother built from scratch. I also would've had more background on each guy/monster and where they came from. I'm one of those nosy readers who needs ALL the tea/info.

Check your triggers if you have any, because this is a dark, paranormal, spicy fantasy, including Grape scenes/SA and death. The spice be spicyyyyyy!

If you love:
-"Who did this to you?"
-Touch her and die
-Multi/1st person POV
-spicy monster/ paranormal romance
-HEA
4.5 stars and chilli peppers
then this book is for you. I hope you love it as much as I did!

This is a dark, paranormal romance. The content, both on and off page, covers topics that are mega heavy. You MUST proceed with caution; your mental health matters.

I was thrilled when I heard Katie was adding another book to this series - I couldn’t wait to get my little grabby hands on it.

This was fast paced, full of delicious spice and a great revenge plot. Special mention for some wicked banter 🙌🏼

I loved the storyline of this one, Katie did an amazing job portraying the intense emotions and really captured the horrendous suffering Elara and the others were experiencing. The story starts off dark but intentionally so, to lay way for the character development. Elara’s rebuilding from the ashes to Queen was great. It was raw, it was heart wrenching and it was empowering. This was a journey of revenge, healing and self re-discovery.

I really loved the variety of MMC’s in this read, there was something for everyone. Each one brought something different to the table and helped our Queen on her journey in only a way they could. Not forgetting the sizzling chemistry and spicy moments that left me feeling hot under the collar.

Fated mates, rejected monsters and found family - what more could you want?

As this was so heavy on suffering and emotions, I expected a bit more depth and story. I felt it needed more on the succubi court and more time exploring the MMC’s and their relationships with Elara. It was very fast paced, which I love, but it seemed too fast and too short. I would have loved more pages.

✖️Enemies to lovers◾️Fated mates✖️Everyone else fears them◾️Damaged love interests ✖️Touch her and 💀◾️K!ll for her✖️Rejected monsters◾️Found Family

If you’re looking for a read that’s full of spicy variety, this is the book for you!

Fast paced and smutty af!

Now now, I know what my reactions while reading were, and while it’s true, the pacing was fast as fuck boiii I truly enjoyed the direction it took and the plot as a whole.

Katie never disappoints when writing strong FMC’s. Eldara’s pain was hard and awful, but her story needed to be told. She was brave and resilient, so loyal and good. Her wrath was warranted and she deserved to have her revenge. I loved seeing her soft side and how she could be pure but still wish death upon the people who hurt her.

The boys…the instalust/love was fast on this one. I felt like the second they met, they were already halfway in love, but I guess that’s the magic bond for you.

Frost was such a cutie. I loved his little soft heart and helping spirit. I felt he needed more one-on-one moments at the beginning but it made up with the end.

Corbin my big man. I truly would choose the bear, even if he didn’t speak. He was so loyal and caring. I couldn’t get over how giving and understanding he was.

Luan truly felt neglected. He was so good, powerful and his story so heartbreaking…he deserved all the light and love he could find. My heart was happy when he felt that with Eldara.

Bellami had me confused when we met but down bad by the end. His past was as raw as Eldara’s and it gave them a common bond, their relationship as succubus and incubus a level of understanding that was unmatched.

And the last…Ever(whatever the fuck is his name I forgot) I liked him at the end…but he was a rude little fucker. His god-like ass needed humbling and I wanted to push him off a cliff more often than not. Also, couldn’t for the life of me picture his pincers (wtf) or his black cum(wtf x2). But his moody ass got me at the end tho.

I truly enjoyed the plot even if it was racing through everything. I’m so glad I got to read this early, thank you Katie!!

Courts and Kings is a series that I really enjoy, but it took me a (micro) beat to get into this one. I didn’t like the MFC at first. Elara seemed very much the spoiled princess, and she was, but I also quickly realized how fiercely she loved her people. It was admirable. Everything was taken from her in one night: her family, her home, and her people. But she refused to give up; she was determined to get back what she had lost, collecting a group of monsters along the way. All of them are outcasts. They didn't fit with their people or the world in general, which was fitting because after what happened, Elara doesn't feel like she fits either. They could relate. The guys may have been monsters, but they were considerate and respected her boundaries. They were exactly what Elara needed, even Eversor. The guy was one big question mark. His motives, his feelings, his responses—heck, I still don't even know what he is; they never clarified. One thing is clear: Eversor has big villain energy, but it worked.

This book is dark AF. Darker than I realized. I didn't have a problem, but others might, so I highly suggest checking out the TWs before reading. This story is about recovery and Elara taking back her power. On the way to reclaim her court, she had her struggles to work through. Elara did the work, confronted the trauma, and learned to cope. The guys helped where they could. Their support was everything. I love a good revenge story. Combine that with the feminine rage trope, and you get a powder keg ready to explode. This book was brutal. Everything really started coming together in the last quarter of the book; revenge was taken, but it felt like it was missing something. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed this one. Court of Anguish is especially good if you like your dark paranormal romance with extra bite and a lot of spice.

ARC Review:

What happens when a strong woman has her entire world turned upside down in every horrible way imagined? She gets revenge.

The FMC, Elara, is an inspiring character due to her strength, perseverance, and kind soul. Even though she is emotionally and psychologically broken after having her home and body desecrated, she manages to rally herself into finding powerful allies to assist her cause in rescuing her people. In her search for allies, she comes across five powerful males; some of whom are willing and others who are reluctant to join her cause. And yet, despite their voluntary solitude, they agree to assist because they find in her a kindred spirit.

Even though I feel that the pacing and timeline of the story could use some polishing, the storytelling overall was enjoyable and easy to follow. As a fan of K.A. Knight's work I was pleased to see the expected themes of found family and allies/enemies to lovers tropes. There were beautiful elements of trauma bonding and instant love. Lastly, I love it when the FMC is a strong woman is offered unconditional support by their MMCs; especially when the MMCs say something to the effect of "it's ok not to be strong all the time because I will be strong for the both of us".

📍ARC Review

Hello hello, my girly girls! It’s review day again—yay!

It’s no secret that K.A. Knight is one of my favorite authors, so you can imagine how excited I was to start reading this book. 🤭

Our FMC is a strong woman going through a situation I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Often, the person you least expect can turn against you; but our main character shows us that underestimating a woman’s courage and strength is the worst thing you can do.

Each of our MMCs is a dangerous monster with a past that haunts them in one way or another, but when fate gives you another chance at life through your soulmate, nothing can stop those who are destined to be together.

I loved seeing the vulnerability of each character. Especially seeing the FMC’s gradual growth in overcoming her trauma; showing that despite everything that happened, with a mission in mind and alongside her guys, nothing is impossible.

📍Do I Recommend It?

Yes, yes, yes! I mean, girl, what are you waiting for? Why haven’t you added it to your TBR yet? 👀🤭

This book was a fast-paced read, the kind that hooks you and you can’t put down until you’ve finished it, but, like most of the books I read, it deals with sensitive topics. For that reason, I always recommend checking the content warnings so you know what you’re getting into.

So if you’re looking for a dark paranormal fantasy with a strong female lead determined to sacrifice herself for those she loves and male leads willing to fight for their girl, this is the book for you!

I will not end here tonight. I will survive. I will free our people.

A throne robbed.
A title without the crown.
A broken queen with her court relying on her.

A woman feeding off vengeance and anguish…

“Elara, we will make them pay for what they have done.”

The next installment to this Court and King series!!!

I loved the storyline in this one, the emotions came through really well with the pain that Elara experiences and now having to rebuild herself before she attempts to take back her court of succubus. She is a strong female character that was born to wear the crown of her people and now she needs to reclaim her throne.

Elara is weak and knows that she can’t take back her home on her own, seeking those who are willing to help her. Finding discarded monsters becomes a journey of self discovery, found family and forming bonds that will last a lifetime. The males are all unique, opening up different storylines…not to mention those sizzling spicy moments that wrap you up. For the first time Elara is able to really open herself up to these monsters and they heal her soul more each day.

Some souls are just meant to be together, like us.

Revenge comes swiftly and cleverly, with the story as a whole wrapping up nicely, staying true to the characters.

With a tiny seek peek to the following story…what monsters are lying in wait next?

I wasn’t expecting a continuation of this series. I thought it ended with Court of Evil, but Court of Anguish is a completely new series. Please make sure you check the trigger warnings for this book, it has darker themes than I was expecting.

I loved the idea of the FMC Elara, a succubus, being a stuck-up princess in the beginning and having to change to help get revenge and get her court back to be their queen. I enjoyed the journey she made of finding males who turned out to be her mates as well. The main male characters are Frost a dragon shifter, Corbin a bear shifter, Bellami an incubus, Luan the mind controller and Eversor the destroyer. I loved how unconditionally supportive the MMCs were but I wish that we got more time with them to fully understand them individually.

I felt that Court of Anguish was a bit too short for me. Some parts felt underdeveloped such as the time we had with Elara’s mother in the beginning and Elara’s suffering and healing ended too quickly. I wish that it had more time and emotional feel to it. It made it feel like I missed out on more heartfelt moments.

Thank you Katie and Courtney for this opportunitiy for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I have loved this entire series. I own all the pretty paperbacks. Naturally, I was thrilled when Katie announced this book. Make no mistake, it’s a great book. (*Please* make sure you take care of yourself if you’re thinking of picking this one up.). I loved Elara’s journey of underdog to Queen. Her first meeting with each of the guys was incredible, and I thought it was so cool how wide an array they are. The spice was signature KA Knight, and I loved the cameos from past faves. What drops this down to a 4-star read for me is that it is way too short. I’m talking hundreds of pages too short (I actually did a double take when I first opened the book and saw the page count). For how much is going on, I think this book could have easily (and should have, IMO) been at least 150 more pages. I felt like there was so much left to explore on Elara’s journey to free her people, more time spent with each new monster she freed, more time rebuilding, more relationship development, etc. I will say, that epilogue has me very curious for whatever is next from Katie!
*******Spoiler ahead*******

I also really hated how Eversor just disappears for so much time near the end. His return but promise that he’s not really staying grated on me so bad. Great character, weird take. Again, IMO.

Succubus, dragons, and bears.. oh my!

I need to start this review off by saying check the warnings at the beginning of the book! The horrors that Elara goes through in this story, and the weight of all of it throughout her journey are a lot to handle and will not be suitable for everyone!

ARC Review!!!

🌶️🌶️

Elara and this story had me in a chokehold. I absolutely love the fact that she showed fear and vulnerability, while also dripping with confidence and power. She demanded respect, but when faced with horrors she never imagined, she was not afraid to beg and do anything possible to save her people.

Through the horrors and tragedy came the mixed bag of supernatural beings who ended up by her side. They were all so powerful and different, yet came together to help her help her people. The way they cared for her was a breath of fresh air. They made sure she knew they were there for support, but didn’t push her and respected all of her boundaries. Their silent comfort was a very loud declaration of how much she meant to them. Just like the way she helped them heal their inner demons was a testament to how pure her soul was and how much she cared for them despite trying to tell herself she couldn’t.

Elara showed strength, power, vulnerability, and empathy, and had me constantly saying “just one more chapter” until the very last page.

Each and every single time Author K.A Knight brings us back into this world I am immediately in a chokehold.
When I tell you that this author writes hands down the fiercest FMCs with the most incredible feminine rage.
These baddies kneel for no one and literally wear their crowns bloody and all. They wield their bodies as weapons of mass destruction and desire.
This FMC immediately had me in all my feels… she’s strong and fierce…. all of her grief… all of her rage.
She’s a queen on a mission and will give her own life to save her people.
Insert these MMCs all so different… all deemed “monsters” or “broken”… all that see this Queen and want nothing more than to kneel at her alter… and boy do they ever!
These characters have this push and pull… and it’s so delicious.
Their chemistry is off the charts… and so is their devotion.
They grow together and heal together and it’s amazing!
And I always enjoy when familiar characters pop in and lend a hand.
If you enjoy your romance to have some fantasy, fierce FMCs, multiple MMCs that are obsessed, and all the spice this series is a must read!

Court of Anguish lives up to its name in every sense. Each character, especially our FMC has experienced anguish, betrayal, and loss.

Bound by loyalty, duty, or revenge, this story explores their emotional and physical connection in a way that’s empowering and reverent. Frost, Corbin, Bellami, Laun, and Eversor help Elara reclaim her power, her body, and help mend her spirit. I loved seeing the trust, acceptance, and devotion that unfurls between them.

Court of Anguish is a dark, emotional, and steamy story of outcasts and antiheroes fighting for freedom, acceptance, and redemption.

Huge thanks to the author and @cdunhampa530 for the review copy opportunity. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I have been waitinggg for this book ever since K.A. Knight announced it. The Courts and Kings series has been one of my favorites ever since Court of Nightmares. AND Courts of Anguish is definitely my new favorite! This story was so good. The plot had me invested. The characters had me obsessed. The spice had me wishing I were a part of the story. I hope Katie continues writing these stories!

Elara was born to lead her people. Until one day, everything is taken from her. Men invade their home and take everything. Now Elara will stop at nothing to get everything back and she needs help to do so. She assembles an army with rejected monsters. Will she be able to get revenge and take back what was rightfully hers?

Elara is put through the wringer when her home is invaded. She experiences the worst. But her character is so strong. Her fight and need to get back and help her people is incredible. She is truly so beautiful. The monsters are my weakness. They all have different personalities but they will stop at nothing to help Elara get her revenge. I love all of these characters

If you loved the Courts and Kings series, you will hands down love this one. This story was so good.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

This is the story of Elara and her merry band of men. She is a succubus and the daughter of the queen. One night they are betrayed by the men they trusted with their bodies and her mother is killed. The court is enslaved and she is abused horribly and left for dead in front of her court. But, she is able to escape and vows vengeance. She meets Frost in the woods outside her court. From the second he sees her he knows that they are mates. Since he is a dragon he flies her to a hunter, Tate to ask him for help. And so the journey begins for help and she picks up a whole crew on her journey. Many are immediately taken with her or agree for reasons of their own. I don't know that I can tell you much about this book and not give something away. I can say that this is a case of characters that you won't soon forget. A story of revenge but also of healing and learning to live as the person you have now become. It's about finding home in the most unexpected place. Go and get this book!!! You are going to love every second of it.

I was immediately immersed into the story, I loved seeing her determination, she was ready to face it all to get her revenge and save her court and she laid everything down for the men and showed exactly what she needed and wanted from all of them. And they were there for her, ready to let go of their own past and traumas to follow her forever. Court of Anguish was a delicious paranormal fantasy romance, filled with spice, angst and love. I enjoyed every single moment of this book! As always, KA Knight writes amazing FMCs and Elara was no different.

Another absolutely amazing book in the Courts and Kings series. I’ve loved every single one of these books and I’m already looking forward to reading the next one.

I love this author so much, but this book really did not work for me.

My main problem was the fact that one of the main characters is honestly kind of a dick the whole entire book
I get the whole-you trapped me/caged me to you so I need to kill you-thing, but it goes on the entire book and I mean the entire book

My other problem was the fact that this book had no romance at all
It is dark - possibly one of her darkest books that she has written— and I respect and really liked the growth that the FMC goes through
I liked the court and the family that she had created

I enjoyed her compassion and she made the book a solid three stars by herself

I just wish we had more connection with any of the men

Frost had some of the best internal monologue and random one liners-almost like he was out of touch with certain things-because he’s older or a dragon-I really wish we could’ve expanded onto that and maybe had the men create more of a bond or a found family vibe

This book was OK.
My thing is that I love this author so much that she can’t write a bad book in my eyes 🤷🏻‍♀️

I LOVED this book. Like… completely obsessed.

This story is dark, brutal, and powerful, and from the very beginning you know it’s not going to hold back. The pain, the betrayal, the loss — it all hits HARD.

Elara??? Absolutely incredible. The way she endures everything thrown at her and still finds a way not just to survive, but to fight back and protect her people was so powerful to read. She doesn’t break — she transforms. And watching her reclaim her power?? I ate that UP.

And her monsters???
Luan. Bellami. Eversor. Corbin. Frost.
PERFECTION. Every single one of them brought something unique, dangerous, and addictive to the story. The way they stand with her, for her, and become something unstoppable together?? I was OBSESSED.

This isn’t a soft story — it’s intense, emotional, and filled with that “burn it all down and rebuild stronger” energy.

If you love dark fantasy romance with a fierce, resilient FMC and a crew of powerful, morally grey monsters at her side, this book will have you HOOKED.

I love Katies Courts series. I love that they are all FMC focused and deal with a lot of trauma and revenge. It makes me happy that men and women get what is coming to them for how they treat the FMC and others. There are heavy triggers and themes in this series and in this book including SA please make sure to check those trigger warnings.

To me this series is a love language to Femme Rage and I am here for it. The FMCs endure horrible things and come out stronger and healed on the other side. They also show that healing is not linear and looks different for everyone. I enjoy that most of the MMC have trauma and rough pasts as well and they are all deemed to be irredeemable monsters in everyone’s eyes but the FMC. This was a great addition to the series and I loved the ending and sanctuary they created to help others like them. The epilogue was attention grabbing and I cant wait for more, I NEED to know what happens.

ARC REVIEW
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4.75/5 Stars
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ 4/5 Spice

You can always expect a banger when reading a KA Knight book! This is a fast paced book with the action starting from chapter 1 and progressively gets you hooked! This books is part of the Courts & Kings series and you get to see characters from the last book of the series (Court of Evil)

This book follows Elara a powerful succubus who goes on the run to find the most powerful monsters she can find to help gain her kingdom back. Enter Frost who is a giant hot Dragon shifter, Corbin a grumpy Bear shifter, Bellami a sad seductive incubus, Luan a powerful mind walker and lastly Eversor a creature that was one of a kind. 😏

All of them were hot and sexy monsters that would do anything for Elara!

This was an easy 5-star read for me.
First and foremost—please check the trigger warnings before diving in. This story does deal with SA, and while it’s handled with care, it can be heavy.
That said, this book really stayed with me. As someone who considers myself a survivor, Elara’s journey hit on a deeply personal level. She felt like a kindred spirit in so many ways. I especially appreciated how the story explored healing and empowerment without forcing a “one size fits all” version of recovery. It shows that the path forward can look different for everyone—and that’s okay.
And of course… her men? Absolutely loved them. Frost, Bellami, Luan, Corbin, and Eversor each brought something unique to the story. But Frost was definitely my favorite—I’m a sucker for a dragon, and let’s be real… riding one would be a dream.
If you’re okay with darker themes and want a story that balances pain, strength, and connection, this one is worth the read.

3.5-4 stars. Do not take the trigger warnings lightly with this one. Some of it would be way too much for a person who has experienced these in real life.

Decent book, wasn’t aware that’s this series was unfinished when I read the last book so pleasantly surprised there was a new book, and the epilogue suggested there’s more to come. Decent book, kickass female MC as per usual, this one had much heavier themes in my opinion, and whilst it was good I felt the men didn’t really get enough time for me to properly understand them. This was a shorter book in comparison to some others in this series but I think it would have benefited from a bit more substance as, although Elaras story was very much the focus as it should be, it at times felt a bit rushed. And unfortunately the lack of world building of the male stories made it hard to care about the. Bellami though was my fave. I honestly could go without the others

I can’t tell you how excited I was for K.A. Knight to continue in the Courts and Kings series. It’s by far one of my favorites and Court of Anguish did not disappoint. No one does why choose monster goodness like Katie and I was here for it. Elara (FMC) is subjected to the worst of the worst from evil men who wanted power and control. The Monsters she found that offered to help her were all consent kings, they knew what she endured and were happy to have her however they could. Green flag hunky monsters. Frost (Dragon), Corbin ( Bear Shifter), Bellami (Incubus), Luan ( Mind Walker) and Eversor ( God/Devil) all had something that drew them to help Elara. The strength and sacrifice that Elara had to save her people from the evil that took over her court was just inspiring. I loved this book. With that epilogue, I’m dying to see what comes next. Knowing KA Knight, it’s going to be freaking phenomenal.

First off, I love this series, and this book adds to that. When I read the blurb for this book and saw that it was about a succubus, I thought it would be a book all about sex with little plot. However, this book has both plot and sex, but it has a great balance of both. I love the FMC and how her personality changes with each problem she faces. In the beginning, she acted like a stuck-up princess, but that quickly changes which I am glad because that would have brought the story down for me. I love her men, except I had a little bit of a problem with Luan. Not to give too much away, but in the beginning, he tries to kill everyone, and then in the next chapter, he is completely devoted to Elara. I just feel like a switch that was a little too quick for me. Overall, this is a good read, and I would suggest it for anyone who likes monsters, reverse harems, and/or dark romance. (Please check trigger warnings, as this book gets dark in a few areas.)
