I blame the moonshine. AKA, I kissed a Xarc’n warrior and I liked it.
One moment, I’m strolling home, midnight snack in hand, and the next I’m smooshed against a broad, purple chest, tongue tangled with a Xarc’n warrior. “Drunkenly Taste-test an Alien” achievement unlocked!
What follows is a flirty game of cat and mouse that makes me feel young and ready to make questionable life choices again. Ror’k wakes up a part of me I thought I buried right next to my divorce papers. Wanting the horned and fanged silver fox is easy. Trusting again? Not so much.
But New Franklin has bigger problems than my accidental alien make-out session. Supplies are disappearing, people are getting jumpy, and someone in our cozy little settlement is up to no good. We need to get to the bottom of this before the summer swarms or New Franklin’s in serious trouble.

Character Background and Plot Summary
Evie has spent her whole life waiting for a Prince Charming, and she jokes early on that hers just happens to come in purple. She ends up at the Xarc’n compound with her uncle and his friend, two men who never accepted the hunters or the human women who fell for them. When Evie finally pushes back against their bitterness, they retaliate in the worst way possible, stealing weapons and flipping on a beacon that calls the scourge straight to the compound. That betrayal is the gut punch of the book, and it raises the stakes from “will they get together” to “will everyone survive the people who were supposed to be on their side.”
Tarv’k is the oldest hunter in the compound, and it shows in the small details Lee gives him rather than in his looks. He’s fought the scourge across more worlds than any of the others and lost more often than he’s won. That history is why he holds himself back from Evie. He’s convinced he’s too worn down, too marked by failure, to form a mate bond with a human. It isn’t until Evie threatens to look for a bond with another warrior that his composure cracks, and he admits, at least to himself, that he can’t stand the thought of her with anyone else. Watching a battle-hardened alien warrior get undone by jealousy rather than by the scourge is exactly the kind of moment I read this genre for.
Highlights and Limitations
The betrayal arc with Evie’s uncle is the strongest part of the book for me. It gives the story a real threat that has nothing to do with the romance, and it forces Tarv’k’s protective instincts into overdrive at the exact moment he’s already fighting his feelings for Evie. I also loved that Tarv’k’s age and his losing streak actually mattered to the plot instead of being a throwaway detail. It gave him a real reason to hesitate, rather than the generic “I’m dangerous, stay away” excuse a lot of alien heroes lean on.
My one hang-up, and I’ll admit it’s a small one, is the loincloths. The Xarc’n are described as genetically engineered, technologically advanced hunters who’ve been fighting an interstellar war for generations, so I kept waiting for some explanation, even a throwaway line, for why their battle gear stops at a scrap of fabric. It never really comes. I wished the worldbuilding had caught up with the fashion choices here, because everything else about the Xarc’n culture felt thought out.
Narration
Troy Duran and Keira Stevens split the dual POV, and they’re a great match for these characters. Duran’s voice is deep and husky in a way that fits a seven-foot, muscle bound alien perfectly, and he brings a real growl to Tarv’k’s more possessive moments without tipping into cartoonish. Stevens carries Evie’s chapters with a lot of warmth, and she’s especially good at letting Evie’s frustration and hurt come through during the betrayal scenes without overdoing it. Hearing Tarv’k’s quiet, guarded chapters against Evie’s more open, emotional ones made the push and pull between them land harder than I think it would have on the page alone.
Final Opinion
This is a strong entry in the series, mostly because Lee gave both leads real reasons for their hesitation instead of manufacturing drama out of nothing. Tarv'k's age and history of failure, and Evie's family turning on her, both feel like actual obstacles rather than filler. The narration seals the deal, since Duran and Stevens know exactly how to sell these characters' voices. I'd recommend this one to anyone who likes their alien romance with a little more emotional weight behind the "will they, won't they," even if I'm still side eyeing the loincloths.

Well let's start here...
Evie comes off very immature. Too much giggling even in sexy time. I cannot. You giggle if he raises up on the bed forgetting there is a ceiling fan, and it whacks him in the head 15 times before he can accept what is happening to him. THAT makes you giggle or in my case nearly piss yourself. Yes, this was from a personal experience. You're welcome. Sister is giggling while he is getting his groove on. I'm telling you if your lover starts giggling when you are giving it all you got ..... there's a problem.
Secondly, the romantic aspect feels the same as the previous books. Nothing really fresh here. But not a bad read just meh.

Steamy and action packed later in life, post-apocalyptic sci-fi romance between human librarian Dottie and alien warrior and troop trainer Ror’k. Both feel they’re too old to start over, Dottie having lost contact with her adult son during the scourge, and Ror’k feeling responsible for the destruction of the mothership for which he was in charge, but they’re drawn together anyway.
When malevolent mutant scourge creatures begin attacking in unpredictable ways, the humans and alien warriors must work together to determine who’s feeding the horde information and what they can do to stop them.
Amidst a scourge attack and tornadoes, Dottie and Ror’k find themselves sheltered together and their feelings become undeniable.
This was a fast-paced addition to the Xarc’n warriors series by the always must read Lynnea Lee, and I found the fact that procreation wasn’t the driving imperative in the relationship refreshing. I was generously provided an advance reader copy from the author, and I’m sharing my honest review.

Technically this is a 4.5 but I'm rounding up for GR.
I maybe super bias when it comes to Evie but omg I love her. If you are asking why I am bias to her its because she reminds me so much of myself. I am not into cussing unless provoked so I use a lot of "censored" cuss words, so I thoroughly enjoyed this personality trait for Evie. I was laughing at a lot of what she was saying or going "omg yes I say that". It was nice having this small connection to her. I also really appreciated how she did some growing with her fear of bugs but it wasn't completely wiped out, felt like a very realistic approach. She also never once insisted on going fighting with Tarv'k, but instead found the place where she was best suited at the compound.
Tarv'k was such a sweetie, I loved him there was only one scene I did not like with him and that was at the end during a sexy time scene when he was forcing Evie to swear, like bro don't force her out of her comfort zone that's not cool. I liked how him pushing her away was due to his own problems but also how he instantly regretted it. He had a lot of internal fear and self doubt that he slowly worked on through the story by reaching out for help.
The best part about their relationship was that fact that they TALKED about their fears. Specially Tarv'k instead of doing the an annoying miscommunication trope Lee went with communicating! I loved this, Tarv'k not only reached out to Rajiv'k for advice but listened and put that advice into action. He ignored phone calls to have this conversation with Evie and she listened and responded and they were both open and understanding to the others concerns. Also Tarv'k uses a staff with a blade on the end for fighting!! I love this. So far each guy has a different weapon and I love finding out what it is.
There is as usual lots of action and it is all so good and entertaining. The theme of men using women for their own personal use came back up and it's such a scary aspect when you think how if this ever happened in real life the way some of the human are portrayed in this series really would do these things. I'm glad certain characters have been fully dealt with and I wouldn't have had it any other way! Characters from the previous books are present because Lee is building a COMMUNITY with her series and I love it. I love learning fun little tidbits about how life is progressing at the compound. And can we also recognize that Gerald (a human man) is freaking amazing!!!
Also Tooth made many appearances and all of them were absolutely warranted.

This is a fun post-apocalyptic sci-fi romance. It’s the fourth book in the Xarc'n Warriors series of interconnected standalones.
FMC Evie has been pining after MMC alien hunter Tarv’k, who obviously also has feelings for her but claims he’s too old. When new hunters arrive and danger threatens her, he realizes maybe he can’t stand the thought of her with anyone else.
I enjoyed this book. This series is rather formulaic, but the characters and situations are varied enough to keep it interesting. I appreciate this series for being consistently cozy, with some action and a HEA. Evie was a sweetheart who’s been a side character for several books, so it was great seeing her get her prince charming and some growth.
Another fun, quick read. I’m looking forward to some new characters in book 5, Rescued by the Hunter.

Best of series so far
The story flowed, had real relationship issues and struggles of communication.
The drama was not intrusive and flowed well. Added to the story and wrapped up some of previous books drama.
Still wish they had the humans that were friendly with them, spread the word of the truth.
The glaring lack of use of the radio show, and possibility of the internet being used to show podcasts is glaring. As well communicate how to kill, etc the bugs with other communities, countries. Via the main ships.
Last issue I see is the way they go after the “bugs”. They basically hibernate in winter? So why do the not go after them in tunnels? Why hasn’t a scientist and bug specialist found a way to kill fungus and sterilize the bugs, queens?
We have things that-destroy hard shells of bugs, which end up killing them.
So many logical things that the author can add to story to show the humans and the hunters are turning the tide and will eventually not only win, but stop bugs from leaving to destroy another planet.
They can spread word to other warriors that follow the other ships.

It's Evie and Tarv'k's turn to explore this mate bond thing and...Tarv'k doesn't make things easy. Mostly because he worries he's too old (compared to the other hunters) to trigger the bond at all. Because of this he sends mixed signals to Evie and throws her for a loop.
That said, for all Tarv'k's noble intentions toward letting Evie find someone who (he thinks) can give her what she needs, he's not AT ALL happy with the idea of her being with anyone else. Tarv'k's head might be telling him to do one thing, but Xarc'n instincts aren't easily pushed back and yeah. YEAH. The big guy found his special someone and there's no walking away from that.
As for Evie, she's living life on her terms now after having freed herself of her gross uncle and his friend. Well, she's living life as best one can when space bugs are trying to turn the world into a buggy wasteland. Let's just say she's reaching for the things she wants. As it turns out the thing she wants is a big, purple hunk who treats her like the treasure she is.
A little danger, a few unwanted visitors, bugs, bugs, and more bugs, a warrior trying to be strong, and a woman who likes everything about the hunter who's caught her eye and heart. *thumbs up*

Really enjoyed this sci-fi book. It is very believable that I could see it happen in real life.well written and I highly recommend it as a must read.

Okay read, the story lagged in places. I was glad that the 2 creeps got what they had coming to them. I would have liked the bugs to get them...

Oh-ho! A silver fox warrior finds his special someone and YESSS! I am here for it!
Ror'k is in a weird headspace when we first meet him. He's one of the older warriors who spent most of his time aboard one of the Xarc'n motherships after being injured. While he was overseer (which is both important and fancy!) of his ship, he sees himself as less than the warriors out there fighting the scourge since he's, you know, not fighting beside them. Just to make this a double whammy for the poor guy, his mothership was the one that was lost previously so now he's also an overseer without a ship.
Yeah, he's dealing with a few things.
BUT...then Dottie runs into him (literally) after sampling some homemade hooch and plants a big ole kiss on the big guy and now he has something besides his "failures" to occupy his mind. Yep, one sassy librarian who always seems to be one step ahead is all he can think about.
On Dottie's end, she's not looking for romance. Or so she thinks. I mean, whenever these two get close to one another they seem to find themselves kissing so there mayyyyybe there could be a little romance. For all she keeps telling herself she isn't looking for anything long term (been there, done that, she says), Ror'k makes her feel safe and seen. Yup, she likes the big guy with his rippling muscles and silvered hair and determined focus.
A little thievery, a slight case of kidnapping (adultnapping?), KITTENS!, a little danger, a warrior who doesn't see in himself what others see, and a lady who can hold her own against the sexy male who keeps chasing her. *thumbs up*

Xarc’n Warriors is an 8-book post apocalypse series written by Lynnea Lee. The books are set on Earth, after an alien invasion from space bugs, where the few human survivors are still fighting for survival daily. The invasive species, controlled by a “queen,” have built hives inside major cities, and killed (and ate) most humans. The space bugs (aka scourge) carry an infectious and deadly bacteria. Any human that became desperate enough (from starvation) to capture and eat a scourge, turned into a heavily contagious zombie that must be avoided at all cost. The scourge will stop at nothing to return the bacteria to its hive. The remaining humans have taken refuge outside the major cities. Some forming survivalist groups and cults that stand against the Xarc’n Warriors. The Xarc’n Warriors are aliens that have come to help Earth by ridding it of their scourge infestation. The Xarc’ns, being perfect clones specifically designed to fight the bugs, reside in territories around the world. This series follows the Xarc’n Warrior group that created a safe compound inside Franklin. Xarc’n Hunter’s are over 7 feet tall, purple skin, ram-like horns sprouting from their temples, sharp teeth with fangs, and retractable claws. We first met Evie in the 2nd book when she came to the settlement with her uncle, who was against mixing with the Xarc’ns. Her uncle controlled her until she finally told him off in book 3 and her uncle left, but not before leaving the doors open and drawing the scourge in. Evie was the youngest human, who took interest in the oldest Xarc’n warrior Tarv’k. Tarv’k kept his desires for Evie in check because he thought she deserved happiness with one of the younger warriors who could initiate a mate bond. Unfortunately, whenever another male came near Evie, Tarv’k saw red, so her moving on wasn’t really an option. Eventually, Tarv’k came around and realized that he didn’t want her with anyone accept him and allowed nature to take it’s course.
Honestly, this book had so much potential and just fell flat for me. It was hinted that Evie was an inexperienced virgin, but when it came time to take a giant alien cock, she experienced no discomfort? I feel like her innocence probably should have been addressed beforehand and not had it written like she took cocks for a living. Even a woman that’s a pro at taking average human cocks would struggle to adjust to the size of a Xarc’n. Yet here’s this virgin that’s like “Please fuck me, Tarv’k!” That was a quote from the book. And to be fair, he did make the eager little human say it before he continued. My problem was the lack of addressing her walking funny the next day. 😅 This book also managed to completely ruin the whole “older guy, younger girl” kink fantasy. Meh, whatever. I had higher expectations, I guess.
Admittedly, I am 100% on board with the Xarc’n species. Their protective, aggressive, possessive, dominant, controlling need of need of their mate is my kind of flavor. The way they unintentionally purr, growl and roar is kinda cute too. When a mating band takes place, neither party can physically stop touching each other for a certain period of time. Which is different and quite endearing. Each section of a Xarc’n cock is shaped like a sex toy; a head with a thick ridge around the widest part and it dipped in before the next part started. Picture a butt-plug with 3 round balls, each one bigger than the last.
The book doesn’t suck; it’s filled with adventure and a little romance. I just prefer found myself a little bored with the redundant story. I recommend reading, at least once. Onto the next book in the series…

This is book 4 and hopefully not the last of this series because there are still a few Xarc’n Hunters looking for mates. Evie has had a major crush on Tarv’k even before he saved her from the bugs the humans call them to us warriors they are the Scourge and we travel to different worlds killing them and saving to planet but not all can be saved these bugs come in and kill and consume every living thing in the area and then move on. Evie and her friends have a well established compound that have many Hunters with human mates living happily together and Evie wants that with Tarv’k but he tells her that he is too old for her and that the mating bond might not work and to find someone younger after her attempt being naked with him in the decontamination shower to say she is angry is an understatement but she decides to teach him a lesson by ignoring him and talking to the new males to have come to help out with the bugs nest. Tarv’k is growling at all the single males that go near Evie and her plan has worked and he tells her he wants her and nobody else once they are alone in his shuttle even if they don’t bond. On an outing the whole compound are out collecting fruit when they are attacked and kept busy while Evie and Lena are kidnapped by her uncle Shawn and his offsider Benson who wanted to claim Evie for himself and taken back to so called home. What happens next, and can they be saved before anything bad happens to them and does Evie and Tarv’k have a future together. Get this amazing book to find out.

This book is part of a series and reads best as such. The backstory and character development in the previous books greatly enhance this book. It can be read as a stand-alone, but some of the great tidbits and details may be less appreciated if not recognized.
This story follows Evie & Tarv’k. They clearly have a special bond, but Tarv’k tries to keep everything platonic since he feels like Evie deserves a better warrior than he. However, he is already very attentive and protective of her, so it is clearly him deluding himself. Which is sweet and funny.
Evie has to fight for what she wants and draw boundaries, which is good for her and her own new confidence. In the previous books she struggles with feeling useful, but in this book she is finally finding her niche. She still doesn’t fully recognize her value, but the others see it.
I love how we get to revisit previous characters, both human and Xarc’n. We also meet new characters from another hunter group, the Southern human nuisances, and escapees. It definitely leaves new opportunities for future books, but does not leave any cliffhangers. You will get your HEA and no cheating.
This new compound community of Xarc’n and humans is quickly becoming an ever growing, tight knit family. And the influences of each are improving the way of life for all parties. There is also more detail on future ventures, which lends a wonderful sense of hope for them all.
I highly recommend this series.

The series continues with Tarv’k and Evie’s story. After deciding to stay in the compound after her uncle and his friend left, causing chaos and terror as they went, Evie cannot stop thinking steamy thoughts about Tarv’k. Tarv’k being an older hunter wants Evie just as much but believes they could never have a mating bond due to his age, as much as he detests the thought of it, he believes she would be better off with a younger hunter and he tells her as much when she finally makes a pass at him. She is furious and everyone in the compound knows he’s done something wrong, when Evie offers to share her room with two male newcomers he declares Evie will stay in his shuttle with him. Maybe so but she’s decided she will be sleeping on her own mattress until he gets it into his head that she wants him mating bond or not. That’s exactly what he tells her and they decide to have a relationship even without any sign of the mating bond. When Evie and Lena are taken by Shawn and benson to the place they are staying, Tarv’k realises he doesn’t care about the bond, she’s his mate and he loves her, when they have rescued them and are back at the compound all tucked up after getting hot and heavy Evie goes to make the meal for everyone, however Tarv’k tells her it’s not possible yet as he cannot move, the mating bond has activated and the couple can’t be any happier. This book has lots of action, very steamy scenes and a happily ever after ending guaranteed.

It is very easy to get immersed in the fantastical Xarc’n universe Lynnea Lee has created in this series. It is detailed and colorful and injected with humor to keep things light. The women are strong and level-headed. The Xarc’n are swoon-worthy superheroes sporting purple skin and horns.
The series is set in a post-apocalyptic Earth. Giant bugs from space have decimated the world population and most of the food supply on the planet. Xarc’n Warriors have come to Earth to help us fight off the giant bugs. There are no female Xarc’ns, so these warrior hunters live a lonely existence until they come to Earth and realize they are compatible with human females.
Book 4 presents Tarv’k and Evie’s story. Evie is like sunshine to Tarv’k. He loves her sweet nature and her inner strength and knows he wants her to be his forever but stays away because he thinks he’s too old for her. Evie, on the other hand, knows that he is the one for her and does all she can to get the big guy to just give in. I really liked how Evie handled getting her warrior to see things her way with a little help from her friends.
The bug-pocalypse arc is advanced further in this story. Earth is far from saved but we start to see positive signs of things to come.
This story was so much fun to read. Great addition to the series. Purple is definitely my favorite color these days.

Afte her only remaining family member betrayed her and the other people of the compound, she is longing to have someone to love. She has her eye on Tarv"k who is an older hunter. Evie has noticed that he likes spending time with her and helping her out but he hasn't made any move to get intimate. No Evie is working up her courage to make the first move. When she finally gets the nerve up to make her move she is embarassed when he tells her she should find another hunter. Angry she is thinking about doing just that.

I really liked this story of love between an unlikely couple. It was entertaining and enjoyable although it touched on abuse and captivity. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. I wanted the group from the South to get their comeuppance but I was satisfied (for the most part) with the comeuppance that a couple of characters received. Evie (Evelyn) was the youngest woman at the human and hunter compound. Tarv’k was the oldest warrior at the same compound. Evie had her heart set on Tarv’k as the hunter for her. After she made a move that was rejected she was upset but trying to decide what to do next. Evie had already confronted her Uncle Shawn and his friend Benson about them trying to make decisions for her so she wasn’t going to let Tarv’k get away with it either. Little did she know but Tarv’k was fighting himself and his feelings for her. Everyone around them seemed to think that they were meant for each other. Once Tarv’k got onboard, things developed nicely. I loved their happily ever after although I would have liked an epilogue further out. I recommend reading this book.

I loved reading Tarv’k and Evie’s story. I love all of these stories, but theirs had a wonderful underlying messsge. In the middle of a creepy bugpocalypse, finding happiness seems like a dream that will never come true, especially for Evie, because the alien warrior that she wants doesn’t seem to want her as a mate. Tarv’k does want Evie though, but he’s worried that he may not be young enough to trigger the mating bond. He wants Evie to be happy, but it takes him a while to realize that neither he, nor she, will be happy with anyone else but each other. Life is too short for what if’s, especially when living in the middle of such dangerous circumstances, but will Tarv’k come to that conclusion on his own? Or will dangerous people from Evie’s past show up unexpectedly, and show them all just how quickly life can change??? Ya’ll gotta read this book to find out! If you haven’t read the other books in this series, things won’t make as much sense in certain places, but you’ll still enjoy the story, and want to read the others asap lol.

I have to say that I love this series. There is ample action with the fighting of the scourge and the groups who hate the Hunters. I have always preferred the alternate POV as I am nosy and like to feel like I know more than the characters do and what characters they are. Stoic Xarc'n, honourable and achingly lonely after all that their race and they themselves have been put through. The glimmer of hope in the Bond with humans is a blessing. One that Tarv'k doesn't think he is deserving of, being too old and having seen more death than most. Evie is his sunshine but she is one of the youngest and he wants the best life for her, not having to put up with an old codger like himself. Evie, on the other hand, knows exactly what she wants and is determined to get. Given her past and how she has been hurt by her family you can't help but want her to have the one who wants nothing but the best for her.

Evie and Tarv’k met when the saved her from the awful bugs. Tarv’k is a Xarc’n hunter which means he was cloned and modified to fight against the bugs that are plaguing Earth. He and Evie are very attracted to each other, but Tarv’k believes he is probably too old for this young woman and it might be better for her to find a younger warrior to bond with. (He doesn’t know about stubborn Earth women, I guess.)
Evie is not satisfied to be treated as if she were only a friend. She decides to show him how she feels about him and pushes herself at him, only to be rejected! If he doesn’t get the message soon, she may give up (not likely) and find someone else who can appreciate her. Will that change his mind? Is that enough to convince him to at least see what the lady wants from him? Can Tarv’k accept his mate?
People, and apparently aliens, can be so hard on themselves. A fit, loyal, fantastic alien thinks he’s too old, not worthy, of the woman who obviously is attracted to him? I think Evie can readjust his thinking. Can they find their HEA?

Bugapocalypse?!?!?!..........
I totally love this series!! Bugapocalypse!?! I swear I haven't read anything else with the combination of this series. Since most humans r "afraid" of bugs, having huge alien bugs, & huge alien male warriors to fight them is a great idea. This...... could actually happen, in my mind & my world, anyway..... Lol.
This book can be read alone, but it's so much better read in the series. Each book is a full story for the main couple, but there's so much more going on in this series. Best read in order in series. I just can't really explain it, but if u like Shawn of the Dead, you'll love this series, cause it's way, way, way better than that zombie story!! We got giant alien bugs with fungus & hot purple warriors! No, the stories are NOT cheesy!! It's fun, but also savage. A group mixed with alien hunters & human females & males living & working together, but racisms still exist, & almost kills them all. AND so much more!! Sorry, No Spoilers.

4th book which means everything is coming together in this new soon to be bug free earth. Avie and the rest of the females were welcome to the compound by the hunters. Most of the hunters have found their mate in the females except TARV’Kand Evie. Evie she feels a connection with TARV’K & she was not afraid to show it to him BUT because TARV’K is the oldest of the group ( & think is really really old) he feels that he is not in his prime to feel or create a "mate bond" so he rejects her. So I think this might be the reason I was not really that into this story. I like when the man is positive about their mate bond and the female being that they are human doesn't feel that way. Well they took that huge part out of this story and I felt I missed it. I skipped a lot so maybe at the very end he feels it but I just lost interest and called it a day. I want to be mindful that somebody put work into creating this world and characters all to tell a story. That is an accomplishment all by itself. However this story was not good if you ask me. When I rate a book I think about whether the characters actions are believable or not. For example, would the character actually say that phrase or do that action. If believability is important to you I would say do not read this book. There were many stupid phrases the characters used and the synopsis alone was a red flag. You’re telling me a grown woman talks like this? 😭 I don’t think so. Also the way things were described in this book just weren’t working for me. It was a description but it wasn’t telling a story and that just did not work for me. I’m an avid reader and I’ve also had to take many English classes in my life. I can’t enjoy a book that isn’t well written and this is not it 😭 I know that some books we just read for enjoyment and that’s completely valid but how can I enjoy a story when it’s not told very well? Anyways I hope this was helpful to someone.

In book 4 we meet Evie and Tarv'k. Evie had been a timid little human in a previous book. She screamed when the bugs came anywhere near and was helpless when any other aliens came anywhere near her. But she was drawn to Tarv'k. He was older than the other clan members who had settled with the humans and figured he was beyond the mating bond. Evie wasn't going to take no for an answer though, and she spent every moment she could with Tarv'k. Even comments made by other humans and clansmen couldn't get him to change his mind, until they are faced with unexpected danger and Tarv'k is forced to admit to himself that Evie is a little more than just a friend.
This series has been riveting since book 1 and it's wonderful to see how the author weaves each individual story into the most beautiful romantic tale.
Highly recommended read.

This story is a great addition to the series. Can be read alone, but is so much better together - it continues to build on characters and the story from previous books.
I enjoyed the alternate view of the first big attack at the compound from Evie's perspective at the beginning of the story. It helps establish the relationship between Evie and Tarv'k.
There is something there but Tarv'k is hesitant to take it any further. As danger descends, he is forced to decide if he really wants to drive Evie away or pull her close and never let go.
The world of the survivors is getting bigger. Xarc'n are hopeful at the chance of finding their own mates.
A very satisfying read that had me riding a roller coaster of emotions. Ending was beautiful and I look forward to the next warrior's story.

There’s just something about older man/alien 💛
I very impatiently waited for this release. I hurried through all my errands and real life nonsense so I could have an uninterrupted peaceful time to read about Evie and Tarv’k. I loved seeing how Evie has taken control of her life and her fears too. She hates the bugs but I would too lol she pitches in and makes their little community a happy well fed place to be during this bugpocalypse.
I also love seeing the older characters in books like Tarv’k. I mean just because we have passed forty or later doesn’t mean we are done with life. We are just getting to the fun parts. Evie is young but the girl has been through a lot and has experienced things that have made her the strong and determined woman we see in this book. I hope we have more books coming because I love all these characters! I definitely recommend this book and the entire series too!

even though I tagged this as older mmc and younger fmc it's really only because it was kind of shoved in your face but I do love me some consenting age gap romance hehe. Even better when it's the younger one pursuing the older because then it's like less creepy imo compared to the alternate situation.
I did get mildly annoyed at Evie being kind of anti-swear but then her swearing in frustration made it more impactful tbh. I also was annoyed as hell more at the MMC Tarv'k because of his insane waffling but still being possessive like either shit or get off the bucket yknow??? But as always with these books it had a satisfying story and progression of the overarching world plot happening (raider gangs being the main antagonists other than the bugs ofc, more people at the compound, etc).
Overall I probably won't end up picking this series up to keep forever but I am enjoying blasting through them with my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

I loved this book! So far, Evie and Tarv’k have been my favorite spicy scene couple. I absolutely adored the back-and-forth tension between the characters, and when their first spicy scene happened, I blushed for the entire scene! Tarv’k love for Evie and his dirty talk was addicting, and I wished the book was longer simply because of it!
On a side note, I was glad the author included Shawn and Benson. I wanted to know what would happen to those two pieces of filth the minute they left, so I was super excited when the author brought them back. That semi-plot hole was filled, and I couldn’t have been happier with how it happened.
I’d like to think I’d be as fierce and resourceful as the other women in this series if an apocalypse did happen, but I think I would be more like Evie. Her quiet strength and determination drew me in and kept me hooked right until the very end. I’m making my way through this series right now, but I will definitely revisit it in the future.
