Did I just get mind fucked? Yes I believe I did.

This is my favorite book in the Dark Erotica series. Nothing ties this slave to the others in Keep me Safe, and Trust in Me. So I would say you can go ahead and read this book as a standalone if you want to BUT be sure to read the others. This book alone will make you want to read the others.

“He didn't use me like an object, because a thing didn't need to be mastered. He didn't use me like a slave, because a slave didn't need to feel wanted. He used me like a woman, hungry and desperate.”

After reading this I had to go back several pages and read it again. I had a hard time telling what the fuck just happened. Yes, actually I am very happy with how this ended. I loved both characters.

This is a dark erotica, and very erotica at that. It was starting to get hot in heavy at some points in the book. But towards the end it starts to get confusing so I would suggest to read it very slowing to finally have it kick in at you what all happened. I am still surprised with the ending how it played it. And now that I think about it, it all makes perfect sense. A perfect ending for this perfect book.

This was so different than the earlier stories in the series. I really liked it but...

It kind of reminded me of The After Hours from the Twilight Zone. But not exactly.

The whole "pretty girl" washed up on the beach theme reminded me of the classic and current story of how Aquaman's parents, Tom Curry and Atlanna, met. But not exactly.

Sam and Brendan actually reminded me Logan and Jake from Master of the Mountain. But not exactly.

"Master, you scared me."

The ending kind of made me think of The Giver because I think it had a happy ever after but I am not sure everyone would agree.

I am sorry is this isn't helpful on actually whether or not you read the book. It was one of those stories where every time you think you have figured out what is going on you find out you don't. And I still had a couple of things in the end I still haven't quite figured out.

My last recommendation is don't try to finish this right before you go to bed. Because if you are like me it will keep you awake for a while.

I'm not sure how to rate this. Have you ever both loved & hated a book? Warren has a gift when it comes to writing dark erotica and placing her readers dead smack in the middle of her mind games. The writing is fantastic, the plot and context superb...so what's my problem? I don't like this subject matter. I don't understand the whole slave/master thing. I do not understand the power exchange in relation to myself so it's hard for me to understand why anyone would do that. I also don't understand the need to receive or administer pain in any situation-especially in a sexual context. I hate non consensual sex (rape), and I REALLY want to go all ninja, cutting off vital body parts, on people who engage in human trafficking. It's hard for me to connect with characters who are part of all this. *sigh* I don't judge those who do enjoy this though, because, hey, to each his own. I'm pretty sure there are tropes I love that others don't.

Hear Me is such a dark, emotionally wrenching story. When I finished, my jaw hit the floor and I was all, "Oh, HELL no!!" A young girl, Melody, escapes from a sex ring. She has been brainwashed and brutalized into a slave mentality-conditioned to accepting anything. She escapes and is found by a reluctant sadist dom. He doesn't want what she is offering, even though it is appeals to his baser nature. They connect and suddenly, Melody begins to remember.

Then the mind games begin.

We learn about her abduction through her memories and suddenly, you're not sure exactly what happened. Was this a kidnapping or did she go willingly? Who is the real villain? Is there even a real villain? You'll be reading and re reading, trying to see exactly where it all began to go wrong. We are never really given a clear answer to any of our questions. There is no traditional HEA in my opinion. It ends in a way that is acceptable to the main characters...if not necessarily for us.

I'll rate this soon...for now I am still thinking.

Edit: I do what to add that this can be read as a stand alone.

May I just state that I’m a huge fan of Skye Warren and her Dark Erotica Series. She is such a talented writer and these series, though short in length, packs quite an emotional punch. They are not for everyone, mind you, so be aware before you decide to pick it up. These stories are filled with dark subject matter that might push one’s comfort level. These series involve non-consent sex, slavery, and psychological torture. However, if you’re like me and are not bothered by the graphic nature that these subject matters often create, then you will find this series just as intriguing.

She paid her keep with obedience.

After reading Trust in Me, book two in the series, which I could not put down, I was anxiously waiting what was next in the series. From what I previously knew about this series, the opening scene where a woman is escaping was not a surprise. She’s running from her captors. She knows she’s on an island and spots a small boat, untied and bobbing on the shore. After climbing in, she passes out. When she awakens, she finds herself in new situation.

Her training kicked in. It didn’t matter how she had ended up here in this strange, comfortable room at the mercy of this strange, sinister-looking master. She knew what to do. Her limp body slid from the bed and dropped to its knees. The movement awakened a thousand new aches, but it couldn’t be helped. She bowed low, praying she looked properly worshipful.

Who is this man standing in front of her? Is he her new Master? Why is he being so kind? The longer she stays and the more this man shows her kindness, she wants nothing more than to stay with him. However, there’s something her new Master is hiding. Why doesn’t he want her?

Sam found this woman and wants to help her, but there’s one big problem: She’s not speaking. No matter how hard he tries, she won’t make a sound. There’s something about her submissiveness that’s provoking his Dom side. He tries to suppress it, especially after what happened in his past. Plus, he knows what she is, so her behavior towards him is just a result of her training; There’s no way she wants him of her own will, right?

It amazes me that this story packs such an emotional punch in a short amount of time. This story veered off a little from the previous two books. I was waiting for a certain villain from the previous two books to reappear, but nope, nothing. This could certainly be a stand alone, at least in my opinion. The ending also threw me for a loop. I had to read it twice to get it. I wasn’t expecting it and am still left a little confused as to how everything tied up. No worries, though. It didn’t ruin the story and everything turned out the way it should. I can’t wait for the next installment of this dark series.

I don't even know how to begin to review this one! It's a total mindfuck! It turns and twists and never lets you see what's coming around the next corner. It's dark, tortured, and even heartbreaking at times, and I wouldn't trade a single minute of this read. The only thing I wish is that I could go back and read it for the first time all over again.

Sam finds Melody, a slave who has managed to escape a living hell with evil, vile and sadistic Masters, washed up on a beach close by. He takes her in and cares for her. When she wakes up, she remembers nothing, just bits and pieces, and she's lost the ability to speak.

But what Melody does seem to remember is her training, not many specifics, mainly that she's suppose to "please her Master" at all costs... and she believes that Sam is her new Master. She does everything she can to please him, but he rejects her. Not because he doesn't want her, but because Sam has his own dark secrets and a slave girl is the last thing he needs. Has Melody only managed to trade one evil hell for one far worse? Can she escape a second time? Where will she go? Where will she hide?

This is by far my favorite book that I've read recently by Skye Warren. I couldn't put it down! She does know how to spin a dark erotic story!

Skye Warren is my new go to girl for Dark Erotica.

At this point, I have a few. But this story moved me, pushed me, and made me want more. I think there is something disturbing about the fact I found this book ridiculously romantic. Then again, I also found the last chapter of Anne Rice’s Sleeping Beauty Erotica series. This story was no different for me, and it was 200 pages less than that. Perhaps that type of situation moves me. My husband thinks I have a romantic idea of the subby being saved from the bad Dom, by the good Dom, yet he is still brutal and unyielding.

This story sucked me in from the moment I opened it up. I had a hard time stopping and even got grumpy every time someone tried to interrupt me. Skye is a writer. A real writer, that can weave a story with such intensity that you are thinking about months from now and find yourself going, “What ever happened with Melody and Sam?” You care, you connect, and you want to know more.

Just like Sam says, her submission was beautiful. This story was beautiful. It was dark, wicked, and sexy as all hell. I’m a woman with a desire for the dubious consent situation. And just when I thought I had it all figured out, Skye hit me with a sledge hammer and I was going, “What the--!”

I highly recommend this story to all lovers of dark, twisted, well written stories! This goes in my reread collection! I would just like to note that this is the second story I have read by Skye. I read her freebie retelling of Beauty and the Beast and loved it! I have her other books, all of them actually, and will be reading them asap.

This was very unexpected. I did not see the twist at all--and I should have! I've read a book like this before with similar themes but not the same exact circumstances, so I felt like I should have seen it coming, but a teeny, tiny part of me is kind of glad I didn't and that the author was able to blow me away like that.

Again, I have to give props to Skye Warren on her writing in this book, especially. She used some rather lovely language and her analogies were beautiful and disturbing and it all felt so fragile and delicate.

"If she made it to water, she could float away. Even if only to drift down to the bottom, entombed in sand castles and chained by seaweed. They would take her prisoner; they would keep her safe."

I really should have paid better attention to the signs because now that I look back I do remember certain little things that should have stood out more to me, that I should have picked up on. But then again, the story itself was just so heart-wrenching... until I got to the ending and then it just wasn't.

Essentially, the protagonist is a woman who was kidnapped and trained to be a submissive slave for her next master. But things go horribly wrong and she gets away. She's weak and at death's door but she manages to make it to safety -or so she thinks- but she'd remembered overhearing that she was being sold and she figures that the man who has helped her is really her new master - when in fact he isn't.

Well, all I can say is keep in mind that the author is all about HEAs. That should make everything better... or not.

Earlier this year I read Trust in Me (I can’t remember who rec’d it to me, but someone did and thank you!) self published by Skye Warren. I liked its really dark erotic content. When she offered me her latest, Hear Me for review, I grabbed it.

However, Hear Me is even more extreme in its dark content and I’m honestly not sure how I feel about it. First let me say Skye Warren has a very intriguing voice and gave me a story that I had to finish, even if I was uncomfortable. As the reader, you are left in the dark about a number of things. It starts with our heroine Melody escaping from some sort of sexual slave prison. Through the heroine’s memories, you realize she has been extremely abused, brainwashed, tortured and humiliated. The kind of torture where she can’t remember her own name or whether she has family or not. The kind of torture where she is starved, beaten, raped, and worse.

She escapes and when she wakes up she is in a man’s house. She doesn’t remember escaping, so she assumes she was sold to a new Master, and that she now must submit and obey his every command. The man’s house she is in is named Sam. He feeds her and clothes her and doesn’t know what to do with her. He actually doesn’t want her. Melody can’t figure out how to speak, so she communicates with him on a very basic level. While he treats her well, he realizes she needs to be dominated, and she needs pain to get off. Melody’s mental condition is extremely fragile and with her brainwashing, all she knows is how to submit and give pleasure. She does what she can to avoid a beating she assumes she is getting. It takes time for her to realize she won’t receive harm from him.

I was on board with this book at this point. And I hesitate to give too much away, but I feel like I have to a little bit, to explain what I didn’t like about this book. So there may be spoilers ahead.

Eventually Melody’s memory comes back and she realizes she had a job and friends in a big city. She leaves (reluctantly) and goes back to her ‘real life,’ where she speaks out the police about her ordeal and gets back to her normal routine, if that exists anymore. This is where things start to get murky. She starts to remember a lot of things, and people who were in her life previous to going to that sexual prison, People who may have also been involved with her disappearance. . The story has some twists and turns, and I could see where the author was giving us some unexpected things, but I personally needed a lot more explanation. I wanted more depth when Melody was away from Sam. I wanted to know exactly what she was doing prior to disappearing, who she was hanging out with, and the extent of those relationships. I wanted more explanation regarding a previous boyfriend and the extent of her BDSM in her life. I also wanted more about who worked at the prison she was in.

Maybe the point of the story was to be vague, since Melody never regained all of her memories. It added a mysterious air to the whole thing. But as a reader, I felt cheated out of the ‘whys’ Or maybe I just didn’t pick up on the clues and they were there just overlooked by me.

I expected this to be erotica, with not a solid HEA ending, but wow. The ending to me felt creepy. I didn’t expect rainbows and sunshine but I didn’t get a good vibe from the ending paragraphs at all. Again, I think it has more to do with the subject matter and how comfortable I was with it, which turned out to be not so much.

I’m rating this one a Grade of C because I really didn’t like the end and felt confused in the second half, yet I think the author takes chances with this story and I can appreciate that. If you want to try this author’s dark style, I recommend Trust In Me. You can read my review of that book here.

So I just finished this book. Hear Me is the third installment of Skye Warren's Dark Erotica series. Just like the others it was not a long book; finished it in just a few hours. However, just like all of Skye Warren's books it packs an emotional rollercoaster with a dark subject matter. I had a hard time reading this book. I found it confusing, leaving me with more questions than answers and ultimately left feeling like: “WHAT? No wait, what? So wait, who’s the bad guy?”

 photo vip7_zps8091041d.gif

Hear Me starts off with a woman being chased through the woods. She escaped from being held captive and trained as a sex slave for what feels like an eternity to her. She has no memory of how she got there, when she got there or of her past. She can't speak, but doesn't want to either since she was trained with an iron fist and knows better than to open her mouth. Running as fast and hard as she could, she reaches the shoreline when her body finally gives out and she fades away.

Upon waking she is aware of her surroundings and assumes the position of slave. But this time it's different. Her Master, Sam, is kind and gives her a beautiful place to stay; he's not the typical dom she's use to. Sam sees her for what she is, submissive to the core, but wants no part of it. Sam tries to fight the dom in him but he isn't getting anywhere. He tries to coax whatever he can from this woman, but she refuses to speak. Nothing he does will get her to open her mouth, until his brother shows up.

I kept pushing forward in the book. Not understanding some of the dialogue that was going on, but understanding the general concept of what was taking place. Then I get to Chapter 10 and it got really, really confusing. I was following along and was like “okay. I get it . “ Then I get to Chapter 11 and I’m not sure what happened. Yes the book has a HUGE Twist – great! But

Thankfully after completing the book I read some reviews and found most people had to go back and re-read those 2 chapters. So that is exactly what I did! Thank God too bc I feel a lot of my confusion was cleared up. Not so much the fact about her Does it really matter? I don’t think so, but I’d like some clarity if I could. I’m not a big fan of being confused or having to go back and re-read chapters to understand what the hell just took place. BUT now that I have I can say I enjoyed the book. Was it one of my favs? Nah, but it was enjoyable.

Skye Warren does it again with Hear Me her new release in the Non-consent/Dark Erotica series. She writes some of the most arousing, frightening, thought provoking, disturbing, dark erotica and I love it! When I finish one of Skye Warrens books I think to myself - damn I'm twisted; I loved the torture, the submission/compliance, the dominance/aggression, all of it combined make me crave more and I know it's so bad but I'm so thankful that there are authors out there like her that push my limits. While I have loved some "fluffy vanilla" or standard BDSM reads, Ms. Warren is an author that likes to push boundaries and I am so pleased I found her 'cause I'm a reader who likes being pushed.

This installment of her non-consent series is a story of a Slave and her journey back to normalcy (or something like that). Melody escaped from where she had been being "trained." She couldn't remember her name-where she lived or anything-only that she was a slave to be used, abused, and toyed with however her Masters liked. She had no say; she was a slave and was meant to please them.

Now she was free but when you don't know who you are you tend to need a little help, she finds that in a strange man she knows nothing of. Sam is kind to Melody and immediately sees her broken state and tries to help her. He has knowledge of submissives and tries to coax Melody back to a bit of
her normal self and hoping to teach her to trust him. Trust doesn't come easy to Melody...compliance yes, but not trust... She trusts Sam though.

When Brandon, Sam's brother arrives things begin to change, memories begin to arise and once they are out they can't be locked back up. Melody now has a choice to make... Stay with Sam and never know who she truly is or go and find out who she is, what was done to her, and build herself a new life. The choices she makes will collar her to her decision for good.

I was so caught up in the intense relationship between Sam and Melody. I could feel her need to be subservient to him the whole way through and his struggle to be gentle with her - I loved it. I hope that there will be more to come about Anya, Brandon, and the club 'cause now I'm even more curious.

This is a disturbingly arousing book I couldn't put down until the last page was turned. It may not be for all readers due to the torturesque content including rape, humiliation and mind games, but let me say this... All things that happened in this book made the story progress, built the characters (or broke them), and gave it depth. Without those events it would have been the same story I have read over and over. Skye Warren is a MASTER-ful writer when it comes to Dark Erotica!

Do you know your limits? Push them! See how far you can go... I'm still pushing and I love it when I find books that push back.

Hear Me is by far my FAVORITE book of the Dark Erotica series! The book begins from "her" standpoint. She escaped, she wants freedom, and she wants to live!

She doesn't know who she is frankly she doesn't remember who she is. All she can recall is what she had endured but for how long and she knows for certain she is a "slave".

The book is told from "her" POV, which follows the first two books in this series. She awakes and wonders where she is when she encounters her "Master". Her "Master" is not identified by name but from his actions he doesn't want a slave.

She is confused with the way he treats her and she doesn't want to leave her "Master". He is kind, considerate and doesn't dish out the pain she endured when she recalled she was at a camp that trained women to become "slaves". She had escaped prior to being shipped to her new "Master".

She cannot speak and "Master" knows this and they are able to communicate. It isn't until approximately half way into the book when "Masters" brother comes to visit that the names of "Master" and "her" are revealed.

She begins to recall some aspects of her prior life but there is still a BIG piece of her memory missing. The book reads like a romance between her and "Master" and when the brother arrives the pieces start to fall in place and then BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then TWIST the story starts to take a turn and I thought okay that makes sense but what is "she" going to do since it appears she wants to be a slave to "Master".

There is a point in this story that I stopped and said to myself Oh Hell No I did not just read that and I literally went back and read the passage again. This book has the most AWESOME twist that I NEVER saw coming in it and left me speechless, shocked, awed, and saying to myself WTF..............

I highly encourage those with a passion for dark erotic reads to read this one! There is bonus story afterwards that left me wanting more but that didn't involve the two main characters in this book. Who is "she"? Who can she "trust"? How did this happen to her? Does she want to go back to "Master"? and more importantly can she LIVE WITHOUT him?

Skye I love, love, love this series and cannot wait for the fourth book - Carlos story!! I have to see if there is anyway whatsoever he can be redeemed, so to speak, given his past and involvement in the first two stories!!!

I don't even know how to say what I feel about this. I liked the premise. Kidnapped/Captured girl, trained and damaged(She doesn't remember anything, not even her name, and cannot speak), struggles to escape. Alright, I'm with you so far.

Then, she finds herself in a strange new situation with a new Master. Good stuff. The new Master is mostly kind and nice...Wait, isn't this Dark Erotica? How'd we go off the rails?

Then, she leaves and goes back to her normal life, which she's remembered, and there is a weird "The Game" scenario where she's apparently asked to be sent off to this non-con scenario to be made a better slave, but she's now no longer interested?

And then she goes back to Mr. Nice Guy.

Wait, what?

Anyway, I liked the setup, but the execution was not to my liking!

I didn't get my dark erotica itch scratched with my last read, so I tried this one and had a little better luck. In general, this is a BDSM fetish read about a woman who escapes from a training facility (or did she!?!) and ends up on an island with a hot, dark Dom who has a conscience (or does he!?!).

It had more holes than a sieve and was more than a little unbelievable in some areas (I mean that literally. Some of the events and pyschological presentation couldn't happen in real time. Hey, it's called creative license, right?), but it was good enough for what it was. If you like these types of reads (and you know who you are ;D), this one should at least scratch that itch.

This is the first book that I have read of Skye Warren and it was definitely different than other BDSM stories I've read. There were so many twists and turns in this story that I couldn't put it down. In fact, I had to re-read the past 1/4 of the book just to make sure I got the ending right. This is a great read - and I do recommend the book - the story was just a bit outside of my comfort zone; probably because it was so believable! I would certainly read Skye Warren's other stories.

I found this book through Maryse's Book Blog and it sounded interesting. I read Comfort Food and liked it, so I thought I'd try this out. I liked it, but it was too short for me. I just never felt a connection to the characters, but it did leave me feeling totally confused and conflicted. Honestly not sure how I feel about this book....

Didn't think much of this one.

Though it did have a twist at the end of the book!!

It was in the females point of view, with snippets of the males.

I was all set to take that trip down the road to the dark side again with Skye Warren, but I must say I was surprised. This one was a little lighter than the previous books I've read by this author, but still just as gripping and with the darkness of slavery and a little BDSM around the edges.

Since this is the third installment of the Dark Erotica series, I was prepared for Carlos and his sadistic means of torture to invade my dreams and turn them into nightmares. But, Carlos isn't in this book...but not to worry; he will make an appearance in Don't Let Go, due for release in 2013. Who I did meet was a new villain...a very different type of villain. This villain has the type of name I associate with a hero in a sweet romance novel....WRONG! Oh, boy was I wrong! I won't give away his name because that would spoil it for you, but I will say that I was misled...in a good way...to believe this villain was actually going to be her savior. This book has a few shocking twists in it that had me catching flies with my mouth hanging open in a couple of chapters. In fact, it is really hard to do this review and keep it free of spoilers.

The heroine in this story of deceit and betrayal is one screwed up woman. Maybe a little PTSD? This heroine is so broken mentally and physically, I can't help but feel her pleas of wanting to be taken care of, and of being cared for.
Take me. Use me. Want me. Oh God, somebody want me. I don't want to be worthless anymore.
I love how the author doesn't divulge any names of the characters until mid-way through the book. It seemed to make the story so much more personal and the reveal so much more gripping...so I won't spoil your fun by revealing character names, either. I was really saddened by her experiences as a slave, and the nightmares that haunted her were horrifying. Now, we all know that a woman should never leave her drink unattended...apparently she didn't get that memo. But that's not the worst of it. She is caught in a web of lies, deceit, betrayal, and all she knows - or remembers - is how to be a slave. Even when freedom is at her doorstep, she can't shake her training.
"You won't make me stay?" I said, knowing the answer, fearing it. His expression was opaque as he said, "I won't make you leave."
"Freedom's an illusion. We all live in prisons of our making. You picked this one...."
I was really caught up in her story and the author had me smiling for most of the way through. I thought Skye Warren was finally showing me the light at the end of the dark tunnel I've gone through this week in my reading....only to smack that smile right off my face and dim that light with shocker...after shocker...after shocker!

Now, most stories have an alpha male that we love or hate. Well, this one has two! Yes, I loved him #1 and thought I would love him #2...I guess I'm either not a good judge of character, or the author is just that good. I believe the author is really that good, because she managed to make me question my own judgement of BOTH him #1 and him #2. I was back and forth on many of the characters in this story, but especially these two men. I didn't know whether to like them, hate them, trust them, or run from them screaming for my sanity.

Skye Warren has delivered another great book in the erotic genre that will take you on a journey of depravity laced with pain. The HEA in this installment is once again determined by the reader. In my eyes....not so much a HEA, but I loved the way the story ended. In her eyes, she received the HEA she had longed for. I give this book 4 stars and commend Skye Warren for the angsty twists, shocking mystery, and wonderful surprises I never expected to find.

A dark erotic read that had me at the edge of my seat anticipating what would come next. It will have you wanting to yell out loud at the top of your lungs and wanting to slap around a character or two. Such vivid imagination and originality that you’ll feel as if you are right there watching it all unfold. A great read for all and any BDSM/erotic readers that accept a dark touch to the lifestyle. This was my first Skye Warren read and WILL NOT be my last!

Slave (aka Melody) is hurt lost and confused. Not knowing her own name, unable to speak and only knowing and recognizing pain and loneliness, a slave is all that she is. Always ready to please her master just from a look from him, but it’s never enough. Not remembering how she gets out of the dark damp dungeon and finding herself in an unknown place, stuck in a nightmare that she’s unsure of what is a dream and what is reality she finds that she is saved by a man, her new master, Sam. She finds safety and comfort, things that she’s not known existed or experienced. What can she do if she’s not wanted by her new master? No voice to speak and voice her thoughts, all she can do is try to please.

Twists and turns ups and downs. A serious roller coaster ride of feelings and emotions that the reader will feel through and through. BDSM and serious alpha males that give the reader chills and thrills. A warning for those that are sensitive, there is a scene of rape and some telling of mistreatment of a female. All in all a very good read :)

This was a quick read, 100 pages or so. Despite its short length, the pace was kinda slow and I didn't feel the chemistry between the characters as much as books with similar story lines, like Comfort Food or Captive in the Dark. This book fell short of reaching either of those books' level.

The female character awakens in a stranger's house. She immediately feels at home, or at least safer than where she has been as she has just escaped from being held as a sex slave for reasons she can't remember, by people she does not know. She has blocked all memories of her past, including her name, to survive her time in captivity. She has also stopped speaking and refers to herself as 'she', even in her head. She has become the 'ultimate' sub and craves dominance from her new master. The story skips backwards and forwards slowly unravelling why and how she came to be held captive in the first place.

The ending left me... confused and unsatisfied? I got it, but I wasn't invested in her life enough to care whether she got a HEA. In fact I'm not really sure whether she did or not.

After reflecting on this story for a day or two I realised that I really struggled to understand the main character's mindset throughout this story. I don't understand her desire to be dominated so I didn't empathise with her at all. My feelings for this one are quite conflicted.

I devoured this book in a matter of hours! I literally couldn’t put it down, I kinda felt like Melody, I couldn’t escape from the reality I was living in and, even if I wanted to, everything was too good for me to leave.

Hear Me is sexy, exciting and it has an unusual veil of romanticism (so to speak) that totally seduces you . . . You soon fall for someone, it’s practically impossible not to, and fantasize about this character so much to the point you really want to be with him and badly. Right or wrong, you don’t have much of a choice, and perhaps you wouldn’t fight it even if you had. This is the main peculiarity of Skye Warren, she writes about twisted characters you can only be fascinated by and every time they really arouse you . . . That and her amazing plots!

The finale was spectacularly surprising and I can’t express well enough how much I love this author and her talent to create a dark world so unique that it’s very difficult to keep the distance from. I’m totally craving for the next instalment!

I received a free copy of this book from the Author for an honest review. This does not affect in any way my opinion of the book nor the content of my revieworiginally posted on Darkest Sins.

My main concern with the book is that there isn't enough of it. And I don't mean that in the "I want to read more of this, it's so great" sense. I literally mean the book would be better if there was more of it -- more explanation of the back stories; more insight into the relationships, existing & developing; more time spent by the hero & the heroine together so that their feelings make sense; better explanation of the logistics of everything, especially the deus ex machina coincidences. I *get* what happened, I'm not sure why people are confused about what the ending means. I would just *get* get it better if there was more of the "it" to get.

Oh, and it might be set in the same universe as Trust In Me and Keep Me Safe, but not so you can tell. The "business" is a completely different "business" from the business of the first two books and none of the "old" characters appear here, as far as I can tell.

Shocked! Yet disappointed!

Skye is one of my favorite authors, I have loved every book so far, and I was really loving this story. Then she finds the collar and I started to think surely not, And then it all goes to hell in a hand basket! I did not see it coming! Truly disappointed! I like a little dark romance but this was uncomfortable, I wanted justice, I wanted tenderness and real caring and thought this was leading to what could have been an amazing story of healing and possibly retribution. But it fell flat, then nose dived right off into crazy town! I think it bothers me most because I really love this author! Her Chicago series and the pretty when you cry series (sorry can't think of the actual series names in my agitated state) were so AMAZING! It really was powerful, well written and I was completely surprised, I just didn't like the direction it went. I like to stay out of crazy town thank you!

Hear Me was a strange read for me. I enjoyed it. It kept me on the edge of my seat. But it kind of fell apart at the end. I don't necessarily need a perfect, neat ending with all the loose ends tied up for me in a pretty ribbon. But I like at least some things to be clear. This was as clear as mud. Did Melody know Sam before or not?
Was she kidnapped or did she go willingly? Who is the real villain, Brandon or Sam? Is there a real villain? The HEA comes rather quickly in what felt like three sentences.

Hear Me by Skye Warren is a dark erotic romance. A young woman Melody escapes from a sex trafficking ring brutalized and with gaps in her memory. As she struggles to return to her life and fragments of memory come back, it becomes less and less clear what actually happened to her. The uncertainty of her recollection and whether or not her memory can be trusted is an interesting plot twist. The ending was not what I would have liked but perhaps it would work for some.

She´s got no memory of her past life other than the time as a slave and she can´t utter a word when she finds herself taken in by a man, her saviour, and the one thing she finds comfort in. Will she ever find out where she´s from and what happened?
Dark Erotica, smexy smut and twists all through the book. You won´t know what is up or down until the last pages.

I'm confused. Like I have no idea what the hell happened. I hate that I got mindfucked. I mean I get it but I don't. Who's the bad guy or is melody just really good at making bad decisions and has Stockholm syndrome?
