Nightfall: After the Change book two

Rate this book
When the refinery falls, the Guard withdraws from the Texas territory. The re-emergence of the infected bring an unforeseen plague of death and destruction in its wake. New infected variants soon appear up and down the coast, each genetically adapting to their environment to be the perfect hunter. Those few survivors who withdraw to the water watch as everything they've built over the last five years go up in smoke. With the loss of the refinery, crude production plummets, leaving the United Islands in dire straits.

Under new leadership, directives are shifted from defense to offense. As the guard recovers, those survivors who've fought until the very end climb the ranks, filling the void of leadership left by the fallen. After completing a long series of sweep and clear ops along the Louisiana coastline, Corporal Ethan Conover and Team Choctaw receive a new mission. Assigned to the USS Normandy, they embark on a journey to save a potential survivor within the ruins of the Louisiana bayou.

What starts as a simple rescue op develops to include the islands themselves. New threats emerge, leading Choctaw and Normandy crew down a labyrinth of infected beasts to come head-to-head with an enemy once thought gone forever. Follow Ethan and his team as they traverse the horrors that emerge from the ruins of the old world.

Do you fight on, or tap out?

For fans of Arisen and Extinction Cycle, the non-stop thriller blends pulse-pounding suspense with the raw emotion of those who refuse to give up.

Fun Story, Poor Editing

I’m really enjoying the series. That said, what happened to proofreading? OMG, it’s bad in some places, with wrong words such as suffering through a motor attack (visualizing V8s being dropped from the sky on soldiers heads) instead of mortars, and one place where a dead character reappears then in the next sentence is switched back to the correct character. I get the feeling they are using AI for editing which doesn’t catch these mistakes, or worse, enhances the issues.
