I left the man I loved eight years ago, without even saying goodbye.

But now I'm back and standing in his firehouse with a press badge.

Trying to pretend that my heart isn't beating through my chest.

My firefighter ex looks different.
Harder.
Quieter.
More scars than I remember…

But he still ordered my coffee with oat milk and one sugar before I even sat down.

He still remembered everything.

Now we’re assigned a case together to find a serial arsonist, while someone is actively trying to shut the firehouse down.

His captain assigned him as my liaison, and I watched his fingers tighten around his mug.

Say no, I thought…

Give it to someone else.

Tell them you can't.

But instead, he looked straight at me and growled,

"I'll do it."

(5/5) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you love second-chance romance with tension, history, and a little danger, Forever by Hannah Sparks is a book you shouldn’t miss.

The story follows a woman who returns after leaving the man she loved eight years earlier—without even saying goodbye. Now she’s back as a reporter, walking straight into his firehouse and into a past neither of them has fully moved on from. The emotional tension between them is immediate and intense. Her ex, now a hardened firefighter with more scars and a quieter demeanor, clearly hasn’t forgotten her… even if he tries to act like he has.

One of the strongest parts of the book is the chemistry between the main characters. Their shared history creates a mix of longing, regret, and unresolved feelings that makes every interaction feel meaningful. Small moments—like him remembering exactly how she takes her coffee—show that despite the years apart, the connection between them never truly faded.

The story also includes a suspenseful plot involving a serial arsonist and threats to shut down the firehouse. This adds a layer of mystery and urgency that keeps the pacing exciting while the romance slowly rekindles.

Hannah Sparks does a great job balancing emotional depth with tension and action. The characters feel real, flawed, and vulnerable, which makes their journey back to each other even more satisfying.

Overall, Forever is a compelling mix of second-chance romance, emotional healing, and suspense. If you enjoy stories about past love finding its way back—especially with a protective firefighter hero—this book is definitely worth adding to your reading list.

Could have been great if not for the typos

I really don't understand why there is so much repetition of the exact same sentence in this book and in this series overall.

Their story was actually really nice and had it not been for that and the history of that, it may have even been a five-star review. But I don't understand why there's so much repetition. And I get that authors do that sometimes and will emphasize the next paragraph or the next sentence with italics on a word to stress its importance and whatnot, but that's not the case in this book. It's just bad typing and no Editor to catch it. I'm glad I'm at the end of the series though if that's the case because I don't know that I could take any more of that over and over and over again as it has been.

This book has had many emotional ups and downs with it, but it really wasn't bad overall as a conclusion to the firefighters.

Best One of the series

Not saying the other two were not great stories, but there was something about Garrett that spoke to me from the very beginning. His quiet but observant manner pulled me in…. His passion and dedication to things- pulled me in. Then he and Sloane’s interaction- I knew there was a story there but when I read the true nature of just how deep and heartbroken it was- made this one by far the best of the series. What these two went through (both effected in completely different ways) no one should ever have to go through that pain- but them coming back together with the twists and pulls- suspense and banter- made this by far one of my most favorites stories to read.

Series review - these were an enjoyable read! The characters were layered with some complexity and interwoven stories that played through the books. No spiciness which was lovely and the themes within touched on a variety of issues. I appreciated the strong characters with good morals who use their skills and powers for good. At times, the plot was totally predictable but it didn’t detract from the enjoyment. I especially appreciated the male friendship that was described between the male characters - they were tight!

This was a quick series read in between books.
These books all had great storylines but whoever was editing these books didn’t do a very good job because sentences were repeated & even whole paragraphs were repeated!!
Also two of the books had 3rd break ups which I am absolutely not a fan of so they always lose an automatic star rating from me.
These books need to be read in order as well to understand the storyline’s.

Read all 3 books in the series in 2 days. Liked the story lines and connected characters. Level 2 spice. But the editing was so bad and obviously rushed - copy/pasted sentences and paragraphs, inconsistencies in description and character POV. It was very distracting and made the story less enjoyable.

With a little fine tuning….

Good story. Good series. With better editing, it would have been five stars, but that’s me being a nitpicky nag.

The best series

I can’t recommend this series enough. Well written, gritty but with a wonderful back story and a happy ever after.
