The first time I tried to read this book, I was a teenager and I DNF'ed it. I didn't understand it, and I hit the point where Tori was a Muse for Traci writing the books and I saw it as ultimate author hubris inserting herself into her own story and it annoyed me to the point that I stopped reading.
Fast forward 12 years. My life has changed. I've matured and started a process of re-discovering myself after a very chaotic decade and decide to re-read both the Ancient future (not for the first time) and this series (then continued on to read everything else she's written.)
I realised, while reading this series in particular, that Traci artfully takes the open-minded, spiritually orientated, fantasy reader by the hand and leads them on a journey through her own spiritual awakening and the possibilities of the greater powers of the universe that we don't yet understand. It was like she was channeling information to us that was ahead of her time, disguised as fantasy. The first time I had tried to read it I hadn't been ready to hear what she had to say. The second time, I was, and this book had a profound impact on my life.
If you made it this far through her work, I highly recommend you continue on through the Triad of Being and the Time keepers series. The links and messages aren't always clear, but they are there for those that need to hear it.
After reading about 9 Traci Harding books in the row, I found this last book of the trilogy too slow moving for my liking. The expansive break I had from her books also left me befuddled with what had even been going on throughout the course of this book. Tori and Maelgwn's twin's were also not what I expected them to be; turning out to be even more cliche then their parents had been. Seriously? So powerful? I understand their the great-grandkids of a phenomenal wizard but let's never forget that there's also a mortal bloodline clinging to them. The Cosmic Logos tested my patience with all the characters. Nothing seemed logical anymore and nothing made any more sense. It just made it even more difficult for me to readjust and delve into the contents of the pages.
I was cynical that she would be able to wrap up the previous two trilogies in a way that would satisfy me. I am glad to report that - by way of an ending - this book was everything I never thought it could be.
By the end of the book, one after another, things came together until the very last word. Interesting and clever as always and refreshing for me, given my general dislike of book endings, after finishing this book, I was so drawn in that I felt - for a moment - that I knew all of the answers in the Universe.
tying up the Chosen series - the war is at it's peak, the Chosen are on the run adn the rebellion is in danger of failing the slaved species of the universe (and not just this universe) Tori must learn the truth about the Chosen and the Nephelim.
It's a little airy-fairy new-agey, but it's still worth a read
This is by far the most mind-bending of Traci Hardings books that I have read. The idea of including herself in the tory was a bizarre twist, but provided some great moments. I found the esoteric stuff a bit bewildering at times, but the adventure aspect was right up there. I thought it was a great conclusion to the saga.
The book was hard to get into, but started to get interesting after about 60-70 pages. It was a very interesting read. It has been a few months since it was read.
