Off-Map: A Dark MM Romance

Some deaths look like accidents. Some maps are built to lie.

When cartographer Brett North arrives at Sunreach Desert National Monument, his assignment is document the unofficial trails, build a defensible survey, go home. He's done this kind of work before. He knows how to read terrain.

What he doesn't expect is the dry wash that isn't on any map. The dead dog with the cut collar and the SAR file that never mentioned it. The man who's been living illegally inside the monument for four years—who knows about Brett's survey, has been watching his data uploads, and hasn't decided whether Brett is a problem yet.

Rafe Mercer maintains the desert. Not the version the NPS manages but the real one, the operational one, the version where people who use the monument's remoteness to move human cargo through the backcountry end up contributing to the landscape permanently. He works with select park officials. He has a methodology. He has a Saluki named Sirocco who forms her own opinions and is usually right.

He doesn't have anyone who knows the full picture...Until Brett.

Off-Map is a slow-burn dark romance set in the brutal heat of the Sonoran Desert, where the relationship develops through operational trust, mutual complicity, and the particular intimacy of two people who see each other clearly and choose each other anyway. This is not a redemption story. Both men know what they're doing. Neither of them stops.

morally gray MMC duo • murder husbands dynamic • working-dog co-protagonist • desert setting as character • explicit M/M content • corruption arc • and a well-earned happy ever after

A slower burn than the first book and I didn’t like the setting quite as much. But the spice was spicy, the dog was great, and the plot was…thriller-ish? Still, it was a good read!
