From the self-publishing superstar with a quickly growing fanbase comes a rivals-to-lovers romance about a young woman who returns home to run her family’s flower farm and wedding venue, in this first installment of the Hope Harbor series.
They say you can never tame a wildflower...
Tallulah “Tally” Darling never stays in one place for long. When her sister begs her to come home to help with the family daffodil farm, Tally has a spend the spring in Hope Harbor getting her mother through wedding season, then back to her life as an aspiring pastry chef by summer.
But she doesn’t expect to find Jesse Walker, the hottest grump she’s ever met, half-naked in her childhood bedroom. He claims that not only is it his bedroom, but he's also running her late daddy's farm, which means he’s Tally’s new roommate and boss. While everyone in town seems enamored by the man, Tally dislikes Walker immediately and the feeling is completely mutual. So she devises a new prove to everyone that he can’t be trusted.
But like everything in her life, it goes awry. The moment Tally hears him moan over one of her signature caramel honey cupcakes she can barely think, let alone plot his demise. Then she discovers how it feels when they kiss. Can true love blossom this spring? Or will a hidden secret cost Tally not just her heart, but Darling Daffodils Farm?
I really enjoyed this, it was cute, lighthearted and emotional and it had me giggling and laughing!! This was such a great start to the series, can't wait to read more.
Tally is back in her hometown, now that her dad died and her family needs her to help on the farm, but she's only there for a limited time.. But, a surprise in a shape of a hot cowboy is waiting for her at home.. Walker is running the farm now and he doesn't like her. She doesn't trust him, he's keeping secrets, but as they spend more time together, getting to know each other, their chemistry is hard to ignore..
I loved Walker, he's moody and he absolutely hates people and conversations, but there's nothing better than a grumpy man that only smiles for her. He was a hard worker, always there for his family and I loved seeing him open up more and ask for help. He saw the real Tally and I loved how supportive he was of her. Tally was determined and it broke my heart seeing her grief and how she doubted herself, she was always trying to do her best... Seeing her gain more confidence and live her dream was so special. She was a ray of sunshine, I loved how she made Walker happier and lighter, I loved her teasing him. She always stood her ground with him and I really enjoyed seeing her reconnect with everyone. I loved Billie and Quinn, they deserve the world and Penny, Rosie and Tally were such an amazing friend group. I do wish Gail and Penny saw Tally more, but I also wish she was honest with them. I adored Eli and I can't wait to learn more about Fletcher.
I loved their banter, them being vulnerable, the wildflowers and the honey cupcakes, the cabin and the dancing and all that sexual tension that really paid off.. It was so good and so hot!! Them being reluctant roommates to friends to lovers was a great progression, I really enjoyed it. Also "Cowboy Like Me" is totally their song!!
I didn't like the miscommunication at the beginning.. It was frustrating, but I did enjoy their moments after. There was a third-act conflict and I was really afraid it's going to cause a break-up, but fortunately that wasn't the case. They communicated their problems, but I do wish the secret wasn't kept for so long.. With all the miscommunication I was going to lower my rating, but then this book made me cry (happy tears, okay), so I can't do that now. It was such a wonderful and sweet moment.
I absolutely adored the towm, the Liberty Ladies and their book club were my favourite, that was so entertaining. I loved how the town was always ready to help and the group chat was absolutely hilarious, I can't wait to see more of it. The town trying to always include Walker and loving him, even do he only communicated in grunts was the highlight of the story. I died laughing.
This series is going to turn into one of my favourites, I just know it. I love them all so much!! I can't wait to read Penny's and Rosie's stories and of course Eli's.
*Thank you to Netgalley and a huge thank you to Evermore Books UK for providing me with an ARC.*
I think I've found my new addiction: the first book in the Hope Harbor series doesn't just make you feel good—it makes you want to somersault through flower farms while blasting your favorite Taylor Swift song at full volume, grinning like an absolute fool because you've finally, finally found your happy place. This fictional town and its wonderfully vivid residents welcomed me with open arms into what might be the best fictional home I never knew I needed!
Don't get me wrong—the book already had me hooked with its perfect romance, the delicious steam, and chemistry so palpable you could bottle it and sell it as a controlled substance. But the Hope Harbor Town Chat segments? They deserve their own standalone book! I'm not exaggerating when I say they made me laugh so hard I literally fell off my couch with stomach cramps, gasping for air like I'd inhaled laughing gas. I couldn't stop. They're that hilarious—perfectly timed comedic relief that adds so much heart and humor to the story.
And that burning chemistry between the hottest cowboy alive, Jesse Walker (who gave me major Jared Padalecki vibes—especially since his name shares the title of Padalecki's canceled CW series!), and Tally, whose last name couldn't be more perfect? Chef's kiss. She's an absolute babe, a real darling who reminded me of Taylor Swift during her early country music days—sweet, ambitious, a little wild, and utterly captivating. The supporting characters are all fantastic, but I have to admit I developed a major soft spot for Eli. I cannot wait to read his book, though I suspect we'll need to be patient and wait for Penny's and Rosie's stories first. Still, the anticipation is killing me!
If I had any talent whatsoever, I'd create special floral bouquets or compose a love song to belt at the top of my lungs just to express how much I adored this book and how desperately I'm looking forward to devouring the next one. I'd do it immediately, without a second thought! This book is pure gold!
The enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, and grumpy-meets-sunshine tropes couldn't have been executed more perfectly. The story follows Tally Darling, who returns to her hometown after her father's sudden death to help run the family's daffodil farm short-term and support her grieving mother. But when she discovers a naked cowboy in her childhood bedroom, she realizes just how much has changed in her absence.
Enter Jesse Walker—the man who's been maintaining the farm's business and already has his life meticulously planned out. He's determined to convince his sister and adorable nephew Quinn to move in with him so he can build a stable life on the farm. Then Tally appears out of nowhere, pushing all his buttons and completely derailing his carefully laid plans. Jesse's harboring secrets he can't share—bound by both a promise and an NDA agreement he made with Tally's mother, Gail. He can keep secrets, sure. But can he keep the promise he made to Tally's late father—that he won't do anything inappropriate with his daughter while they're living under the same roof?
That promise becomes increasingly difficult to keep when Tally is everywhere—baking cupcakes to die for, wearing flirty floral sundresses and curve-hugging spandex that showcase her dreamy figure. Their attraction is too palpable to ignore. But Walker's been burned before, and Tally is a wildflower who can't be contained. He knows you can't keep a wildflower in one place, especially when she has dreams to pursue beyond Hope Harbor.
But as they spend more time together and truly get to know each other, they can't hold back anymore. Could they become more than friends even as the day of Tally's departure looms closer? Can they lower their guards long enough to give happiness a real chance?
Overall: This sweet, scorching-hot romance earns five billion "Cowboy Like Me" stars from me! I wholeheartedly, enthusiastically, with-my-whole-chest recommend it to anyone who loves small-town charm, sizzling chemistry, laugh-out-loud humor, and romance that makes your heart ache in the best possible way.
A huge, heartfelt thanks to NetGalley and Putnam/G.P. Putnam's Sons for sharing this amazing romance ARC with me in exchange for my honest thoughts. This book absolutely delivered, and I'm already counting down the days until the next Hope Harbor installment.

I opened this book expecting something cute and light, and suddenly I’m emotionally attached to a farm full of daffodils, tulips and wildflowers.😭😭 It felt peaceful at first, like returning to a childhood memory, but it didn’t take long before things got complicated. Tally comes home thinking she’s stepping into familiar comfort, only to find a complete stranger living in her space like he belongs there. And the worst part is the way everyone acts like that’s normal… like she’s the only one out of the loop.
Walker is a whole experience. He speaks only when necessary, and even then he looks like he’d rather swallow nails. He’s moody, uninterested in people, and allergic to conversation, yet somehow the town absolutely loves him. 😂😂 Meanwhile, Tally is just trying to reconnect with the farm she thought she knew. She wants to help, she wants to honor her dad’s legacy, but there’s a secret hanging over everything that no one warned her about. The silence around it stings more than the truth itself, and I kept wishing she’d been given the chance to handle it sooner.
One of my favorite parts of the story was the group of older women who pop in and out of Tally’s life like they’ve got season tickets to all the drama. 💁🏼♀️💁🏼♀️ They’re hilarious, nosy in the best way, and surprisingly supportive when it matters. They treat spicy book club reads like important town documents, and their commentary adds a whole layer of warmth and comedy that makes the book feel alive. 👏🏼
And somewhere in all that chaos, Tally starts reaching places in Walker no one else has bothered to look. Not through grand declarations, but through quiet persistence, food that tastes like comfort, and the kind of patience that doesn’t ask for anything in return. Watching him soften around her was honestly one of my favorite parts. And when things finally shift between them, it’s sweet and sinful in exactly the way their tension promised. Bold enough to make you blush. Soft enough to make you swoon. (Get ready because it is HOT 🥵) Also…you’re not ready for the sweet side of Walker… read some of the quotes I have that he said throughout the book to Tally 🥹🫶🏼
I kept bracing myself for the big dramatic breakup… you know the one angst-filled blowup that almost every romance forces in just for the trope of it? 🙄 It never came. The conflict felt real, the emotions were complicated, but instead of ruining everything, the characters actually talked. It felt honest and earned.
If this is only book one, I’m already in too deep. ✋🏼😭 I’m completely attached to these characters, these flowers, the sweetness, the spice, and the quiet man who somehow has everyone’s attention without saying much at all. I’m so ready to see what comes next🫶🏼🫶🏼
(it better be a book for Rosie and Fletcher or I’m going to scream)

super excited for this one. i just loveeee the cover!
Darling Daffodils is small town romance perfection! The chemistry from the enemies-to-lovers setup is explosive, and every character is charming and impossible not to love. I fell head first into this world and found myself smiling more and more with every page. Entertaining, romantic, and fun, this is a read I'd recommend to any romance fan!
Holy small town perfection! This was such a sweet and charming romance. Tally and Walker were so cute together. I loved how the man was determined to keep his distance but just kept melting for her instead. The way he was obsessed with Tally was so attractive. While the lighthearted read did explore grief and some deeper topics, I appreciated that the story never got heavy, and it added just the perfect dash of seriousness. I also loved all of the nosy townspeople and how kind everyone was; the way the town came together to support Tally and Walker was so sweet. Not to mention all the spring activities and the imagery with the town and farm. It was such a lovely little place to picture, the setting was so dreamy. Altogether, this cozy romance perfectly balances swoon, softness, and steam to wrap up into the most comforting and addictive read.
~Many thanks to Putnam for an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first Brittanne Nicole book and I absolutely loved it! When I started this book I was expecting it to be cute and light, and suddenly I was emotionally attached to a flower farm and these characters that I adore! The romance between Tally and Walker was everything I wanted. The banter, the sweet moments between them, the tension, the spice... everything was incredible! There was a conflict at the end but they actually communicated their problems and figured it out without the need of a breakup and I absolutely loved this!
One of my favorite part of this book was the group chat and the older ladies who just insert themselves in Tally's life wanting all of the drama, but they are sooo supportive at the end. The spicy book club was so fun!
By the end of the book I fell in love with these characters, the farm, the daffodils and tulips and wildflowers and I can't wait to see what comes next.
Brittanee Nicole has started off this new small town series with a masterpiece. She blended small town charm, a daffodil farm, diverse characters and emotional aspects to perfection.
The rivals to lovers vibe was done well. Walker & Tally were swoony. 💕 “Cowboy” & baker
And it’s a flower farm, how much cuter could the setting be. Tally is from said farm, Walker works for that farm. A little mystery aspect at play.
The way this author writes tough topics with gentle grace always sticks out to me.
The town chats… BN writes group chats like no one else.
So grateful I was able to read this early early. Netgalley arc review ✨
Tally and Walker are everything. Brittanee Nicole can do no wrong in my eyes and this book was everything I ever could have wanted.
This is small town at its best, and I love everything about Hope Harbor and this series. I love the town, I love the group chats and I loved the Relationship between Tally and Walker.
✨ Small Town Romance ✨ “not a cowboy” x baker ✨ Age Gap ✨ Enemies to Lovers ✨Forced Proximity
There is this instant chemistry between Tally and Walker from the moment they meet and that turns into a delicious slow burn where these two really get to know each other and became important to each other.
I loved them so much, and not only was their story beautiful, their chemistry was off the charts.
I have been bullied over and over again to read Brittanée Nicole’s books and now I’m kicking myself in the ass for waiting this long to pick up a book of hers. I’m also low key mad that y'all didn’t bully me harder. But you know what, now that I have experienced my first Brittanée Nicole book, I fear Brittanée is stuck with me til the end of time 😘
If you are picking up this book thinking it's going to be a sweet little romance, don't let the cover fool you because this one is hot. Now don't get me wrong, you will get a lot of sweet moments but you will also be graced with a lot of spicy moments as well. I mean there are several scenes that will in fact live rent free.
I really loved the plot of this one. It's a small town romance where our FMC, Tally, is returning home to help save her family's daffodil farm after her father passed away. Upon returning home, she quickly realizes that a lot has changed. One of those changes is Walker, who is now in charge of the farm. These two are complete opposites. Walker is so grumpy and Tally is a walking ray of sunshine. And if you guessed that they clashed in every possible way you would be correct. But it makes for an entertaining plot.
Like I said this one was super cute and the spice was a spicing! The banter was top tier. The town group chat had me laughing out loud. At the end of the day, if you love a small town romance, I think you will love this one! I know I did and I can't wait to read the rest of the books that are to come in this series! Brittanée did an amazing job setting the town for what is to come!
You should most definitely read this book if you like: - Small Town Romance - Returning Home - Hate to Love - Roommates to Lovers - Secret Hook Ups - Age Gap - Forced Proximity - Workplace Romance - Grumpy x Sunshine
* I would like to thank Netgalley and Putnam for allowing me the pleasure to read this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, opinions and review.
3.75 ⭐️ This was 50% annoying, 50% swooning romance...
Ok, so you know when you can tell two people have amazing chemistry, but they can't get their head out of their a**es long enough to figure it out for themselves?? Well, that's basically the first 50% of this book.
The misscommunication shtick and the fact that Jesse - our MMC- literally REFUSED to have a conversation with Tally - FMC- to the point where she makes awful, borderline hurtful decisions based on that lack of info... Even when she asked point-blank about it! His response was 'Just do what you're told'. In-fu**ing-furiating!
Then they finally give in and Jesse makes a 180º and all the sudden his conviced she's his everything... Nope. I'm a BIG fan of insta-love and insta-lust, but even for me this was a bit too much. Mostly because I'd already gotten so over both of them being annoying. And yes, Tally had her fair share of unfortunate decisions. Mostly the fact that she also LOVED being secretive even when she's the most obnoxious person around, almost at all times - which I enjoyed but felt like it contradicted the plot.
Overall, it was a great book, but honesty time: I had to take a couple of day's break after the bar scene because I was SO MAD at them both! After that it's kind of smooth sailing tho.
🌶🌶🌶/5 - There's really nothing going on the first half, but oh boy, does the second part pick up the slack... and then some!
Thank you sooooo much Net Galley, publisher and Brittanee Nicole's team for granting me this ARC! I've been the biggest BN's fan for what feels like ages now, and this was kind of a dream come true for me!! Still, the review is very clearly my honest opinion, so no worries there!
3.25. Tally returns to run her family’s flower farm to find Walker has taken over her father’s business and is staying in her house. After losing her father she’s trying to find some peace in the familiar and this put a huge damper on her plans. They decide to see if they can tolerate one another in close proximity to make things work for both of them.
This was definitely cute and I really really enjoyed the story in the beginning. I loved Tally’s sassy confidence and the cast of characters. The flirting and tension was fun but I did not like this man and that will ruin it for me every time. His issue with her was ridiculous and he would benefit from therapy. I just didn’t know anything about him other than he wanted her physically. He didn’t ever really mention anything ABOUT her that he liked or enjoyed. By the time they hooked up, I lost interest because there wasn’t a lot of substance to their relationship. This was great for a palette cleanser and had some fun and hot moments though! I’ll be reading the next book and hoping to connect to the characters more.
Thank you so much to Netgalley, Brittanée Nicole, and Putnam for providing this free E-ARC. HAPPY PUB DAY! This is my honest review.
this was the PERFECT spring romance, full of love, giddiness, a cowboy 🤠, and lightness. i haven't read a romance that i've really enjoyed in a while and this hit the spot. it felt as though it'd make a great netflix show, i saw everything so clearly in my mind, and i can't wait for the next one in the series! 💐
I know it's part of country life or some such thing, but adults who call their father "daddy" is so cringe to me, and I feel like I never hear men do this. (?) I really enjoyed the story overall, when she took the covers off the daffodils I was dying!
i just saw a tiktok of this author’s bestfriend going to the bookstore and show this book. it was such a cute moment but unfortunately the book is not very cute.
i am so tired of romance books with insta-lust. i am putting it down at 40% and it has been a week since the characters met and they are already very emotionally attached and attracted to each other. i know attraction is important for romantic love but why is it portrayed in this manner all the time? its instant and its so physical. both the main characters povs are just them talking about how much they want to fuck each other. he talks about the outfits she is wearing in every other chapter. sick of this dynamic where the guy hasn’t been with anyone for years but suddenly this random woman has him thinking differently because she is not like his ex. she would never make him choose between his family and her. stop✋🏽 kudos to the this guy’s ex for leaving his sorry ass.
also, are houses in america made of cardboard? why can he hear her masturbate from the other end of the hallway? besides why is my girl masturbating to the man she met a week ago and with whom she has some serious issues? and his name is jesse walker and the townspeople call him walker. as far as i can remember she calls him walker too or i dont think she has called him by his name. but she does moan his name during her little session i just want to know what is she calling him. i had a little laugh thinking how this girl is just moaning the guy’s surname while getting herself off. like that is also the name of his father who was abusive💀
lastly, reading all these small town romances made me realise that if i were to live in such a closed knit community i would be hated by the people. and i am a woman so no one consider me to be grumpy and hot i would just be a bitch.
I’ll admit the beginning felt a little rocky, but it ended up being a quick, fun read.
A big part of the early tension revolves around the secrecy surrounding the flower fields, and at first I struggled a bit with that. I understand the idea behind not wanting to burden your children with family problems, but the level of secrecy and hiding things, especially from their own mother, felt a little unnecessary to me. It almost came across more like deception than protection. I was glad, though, that this didn’t drag into a very long dramatic conflict and the story moved forward fairly quickly. (it's still mentioned through out the book and the "big" reveal at the end, but I am glad we didn't had a long, looong drama over it)
Once things settled, the book really worked.
We get enemies to lovers, forced proximity, baker × grumpy cowboy energy (Walker insists he is definitely not a cowboy, but oh well :D). There is also a bit of an age gap and a slow burn that eventually turns pretty spicy.
Tally was a fun FMC. She has a lively personality and brings a lot of energy to the story. Like some heroines in similar setups, I did wish she believed in herself at times, but overall I really enjoyed her.
Walker starts off as a proper grumpy grouch, but I loved seeing him slowly open up as the story progressed. And yes, he definitely gives strong “he falls first” vibes (he tries not to but he did not stand a chance).
The small town setting was also great. Hope Harbor is full of meddling townspeople, but they felt more supportive and well intentioned than annoying, which made the community aspect really enjoyable.
The pacing worked well for me too. A few small hiccups here and there, but overall it was a fast and very bingeable read. I finished it in one night.
Also, I am now very curious about the mayor. I feel like there is definitely a story there and I’m hoping we get it in a future book.
⭐ 4 stars
Thank you NetGalley and G.P. Putnam’s Sons for the ARC.
Tally is a restless baker who comes home to her family’s flower farm after her father passes away. She finds Walker, a surly and silent farmer (definitely not a cowboy tho) has taken over her old bedroom and family business!
This is a cute beginning to a series about a charming little New England town that has plenty of off beat and zany residents. I really enjoyed the unhinged group chat and I loved how many different couples were set up as well.
Tally and Walker have an interesting journey that has some mystery and some wild spice. Walker saves his words for the bedroom for sure. Overall this was a funny and easy, low angst book that’s perfect for anyone who enjoys annoyance to lovers with a bit of forced proximity! Thank you to NetGalley and Putnam for this eARC in exchange for my honest opinions!
the only reason this gets a 5 even tho i DNF-ed it is because it's not the books fault. I read SO many small town romances and this felt exactly like every other one I've read. I don't mind a formula; if it ain't broke don't fix it, but it just wasn't working for me at this point in time.
the conflict and the reasons for disliking each other were also so stupid. I'm sure it gets better and is a good book, as it really wasn't bad, but I don't plan on returning to it.
Review based on the DRC, thanks to G.P. Putnam & Sons. This book releases on March 17, 2026.
THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERMORE for the physical ARC of this book! It was everything a romance girly could ever wish to read and want for herself (well for me anyway 😉)
Holy moly! The way I am swooning hard for the one and only sexiest ass man that is Jesse Walker! This man had me giggling and kicking my feet, crying, smiling so damn hard (yes I know he’s fictional, let a girl live). Jesse Walker an agricultural lover and a farm, a poet of words, he is a man of few simple words but they hit you square in the chest! He grew up not feeling loved or wanted by his parents and then in any relationships he had but finally found a place he felt he belonged which is no other the Hope Harbour! He’s known for being grump and not talking to anyone, just wanting to get on with his day with no interruptions, but the town loves to meddle, always saying hi, always trying to get home to go and do things with the neighbours and members of said town.. he doesn’t until one day a bright wildflower comes his way.. her name is no other than Tally Darling, his now deceased boss’s daughter who he was told to stay away from.
Tally Darling… pursuing her dreams of becoming a culinary chef, came with one down fall, she was away from home for 8 years but coming home whenever she could only for a short period of time. Called by her sister Penny to come home after such a long time away.. because her father passed and Penny needs help with their mother and the farm. Being back in her home town was not on her list of things to go. Driving through the town, reliving memories she wishes to forget because she’s never felt like she belonged, like there was no space for her there actually broke my heart. What she didn’t expect was to find a sexy cowboy in her childhood bedroom.. to find out he LIVED there?! What will happen when walker and tally finally talk.. you should pick up this book to find out.
So many moments in this book genuinely broke my heart, griefing is such a hard topic but It was written so well in this that I felt it in my heart! The slow burn… slooooow burned in the best possible way! There was the FUCK IT moment and it was EVERYTHING!
If you do not have this book on your 2026 reading goal, what are you doing?!
If you love Grumpy x sunshine, found family, slooooow burn, forced proximity, rivals to lovers, workplace romance, spicy romance, and FOUND FAMILY! Y’all need to pick this up IMMEDIATELY!
If you’re fans of Gilmore girls and Lucy score, you’ll love this book, I couldn’t stop laughing when some references brought me back to Gilmore girls and is making me want to rewatch it!
This comes out on September 26th 2026! Perfect for valentines month!

✦Thoughts✦ So dang cute!!
This was such a cute & sweet small town romance!!! Brittanee of course crusheddddddd it and delivered a hot new fav book boyfriend for use to obsess over!
Literally this town and its cast of characters, the town chat, and how close everyone was (and in your business) had me giggling. Also can I go visit this town?! It sounds like the cutest place!!
WALKER, sirrrrrrr. The mouth on this man😮💨😮💨! This man was hotttt!!! Also his relationship with his sister and her son 🥹 so sweet! I love a grumpy mannnnnnn!!
Tally! Now I wanna go bake because of her!
These two had me giggling and squealing!
I am sooooo excited for the next book in this series!! I love the friendship group so much!!
Jaw dropped!! I honestly have no words what am I going to read next?! This book had everything the chemistry the tension and it was so emotional it touched my heart! We all know I love a book where there’s emotion and this didn’t disappoint the emotion from these two characters an their back stories oh my it was like I was on the edge just to find out more about them from the very first page I was hooked and I had no idea what to except when reading this but now it’s finished and it’s 5 STARS!! Tally she’s such a sweet girl and she’s pure sunshine 🤭 Tally reminds me a bit of myself she never wants to stay in one place she’s always on the move but when she returns home and helps out on her family farm her feelings start to change because she meets Jesses Walker also known as “Walker” when she returns to town and goes to her family home she had no idea there would be a stranger in her room 😫 but when Walker meets Tally you can just see the tension stat to build Walker has a sweet side to him and a very dirty side 🥵 the spice in this book was just wow! Walker has secrets and when I found out about his ex Gina (I hate her) however Tally is different and he knows that he couldn’t hide his feelings towards Tally and I loved the chemistry between these two you could really feel their love Walker is a sweet man who would do anything for Tally he is her cheerleader 🥰 the small town was perfect every one is nosy in the best way it made me laugh!! I’m so excited for you all to read this in February because it’s worth the read trust me!! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for her sister Penny & Jack
Quotes I loved: “I’ve never wanted a woman the way I want Tally Darling.”
"You make me think of nothing but you. Damn distracting is what you are."
"I could drown in this woman without even realizing it because I'd rather keep my lips on hers than ever breathe again."
Tropes: 🌼 Grumpy x sunshine 🌷 Workplace 🌼 Rivals to lovers 🌷 Found family 🌼 Slow burn
Did enjoy this book, would read it again - was fun to imagine it being set in Stars Hollow with the equivalent of Patty and Babette running around causing mayhem 🤣 The spelling and punctuation errors littered throughout the book were a bit of a letdown though 😅
Thank you to Evermore, Netgalley and Nicole for this arc in exchange for an honest review. Honestly, I was drawn in by the cover, but what was inside did not disappoint!
I love a dual pov! it just makes a book well rounded!
Jesse x Tally were both freaking adorable, and so swoony. He talks when he needs to. He needs to make sure the future of the farm is secure and profitable. He was so cold, hard and grumpy, but when he started to open himself up, when you see him fall first, he just changes for the better. How he wants to be there for his sister and nephew, his rough childhood, becoming a young guardian, just makes me want to wrap him in a hug.
I loved Tally.. while she did have some scenes where I was like DON'T DO IT! Her overall character was so sweet and relatable. She wanted more for herself, and even felt guilty for it. How Nicole write about grief, the loss of a parent is delicately done. How her career just soared, how she could see herself settling back in her hometown.. it's growth.

I can see potential where other character's storylines will go and their potential love interests and I AM INVESTED!
Reason for rating - I wish there was better communication between Tally and her mother and Jesse. If there were upfront about the situation of the farm, a lot of chaos would be saved and Jesse would not have come across extremely rude. While I love Tally being a baker and Walker being a farmer, the idea of an FMC and her sister being book readers/ owning a book store.. it's a bit of a niche amongst authors lately... this theme/ trope is become over used and it's slowly becoming a bit predicable and boring.
This was a solid 3.5 stars for me! The first book in a series always seems to have a *lower* rating for me than the other ones. The author is establishing the world we will be in for a minute and slowly introducing the characters. I enjoyed Jesse and Tally, but I felt like the pacing was just a tad bit off for me. I am all for a slow burn, but these two seemed to go from zero to 100mph at the 50% mark. Maybe that was partly because they were both resisting each other so much. I do love a good grimp that is all cinnamon roll under the grumpiness and that was Jesse. He had been hurt and didn't feel like getting hurt again. And then in comes Tally Darling, a literal wildflower. A walking embodiment of sunshine and yet they fight from the jump. Their bicker banter was pretty awesome! But once they acknowledged that they couldn't fight this thing between them anymore, that was when the story became more enjoyable for me. I liked watching these two realize that they had comfort blankets in the most unsuspecting places. I liked watching them both peel back their layers and let the other in. I liked watching them love each other. This book did make me want to go outside in the rain more LOL.
Tally has found herself coming home before her last seasonal job. Her last seasonal job that will lead her to her goal of culinary school. After which she can finally chase her dream of being a baker with a degree. But she has to be home for a little bit beforehand. Being home is harder than she thought with her dad no longer among them. There are reminders of him everywhere, and then of course there is this unknown hot cowboy, Jesse, who is living in her room in her family's house. And there is no explanation from her mom on what is going on. Why is he here? What is his motive? Tally decides to get to the bottom of it. He's hot but he sure does have a bad attitude. And yet when Tally thinks she has uncovered a secret motive she realizes quickly that Jesse truly wants the farm to be successful. She sees a different side of him that perks her interest. She finds herself looking at him longer and him looking at her longer. There is a spark between them, and she doesn't know if she should acknowledge it. But then it becomes clear that they can't ignore it. And when they finally decide to shed their clothes together, it's unlike anything she has experienced. And yet it terrifies her. She can't get attached. She is leaving. She can't pursue her dream here right? But then things align out of her control and she realizes that her dreams may have shifted. She realizes she feels more at home here in Hope Harbor than anywhere else. She feels more at home with Jesse than anywhere else. She can't wait to show him what their future will look like.
Jesse has been pouring his blood and tears into this farm to make sure this season is a success. He has everything planned out. That is until Tally Darling comes home and tilts his world on its axis. He knows who she is. He has heard all about her from her dad, and yet meeting her is a completely different experience. She is a rogue force. One he needs to avoid at all costs. He doesn't know if he would survive an interaction with her. So he gets snippy with her. Keeps his grumpy pants on. And tries to avoid her. But he can't because she seems to be everywhere. He thought he could scare her off but then she wrecks his plans without even realizing it. He sees her regret and decides to give her a bone. He gives her odds and ends to do around the farm. He tries to give her some purpose while she is here and in the process realizes he LIKES her. He wants more with her. But she is leaving. All of this is temporary for her while permanent for him. Also he is hiding secrets from her. Secrets that aren't hit place to tell. But he can't stay away. She is his undoing. He wants her everywhere and all the time. He wants to scream from the mountains that he is hers and she is his. But he has to go slow. He can't scare her away. Because Jesse has decided that he will do anything he can to prove to Tally that they are the real deal. She can go follow her dream as long as she comes back. He just can't scare her away with his secrets before then.
This was a very easy and entertaining read. I liked being able to see all of the couples we will be reading about and am looking forward to all of their stories unfolding. I would recommend this for a steamy, loathe-to-lovers, small town romance with a grump that has a DIRTY mouth!

💛 Grumpy x Sunshine 🩵 Forced Proximity 💛 Rivals to Lovers 🩵 “Cowboy” 💛 Slow Burn 🩵 He Falls First 💛 Small Town Shenanigans 🩵 Found Family
This is my first book by Brittanée Nicole and it sure as “Walker loves Tally’s sweet floral shampoo” it won’t be my last!! (IYKYK)
If you love charming small town romance books with HIGH heat, glorious toe to toe banter, a quirky community of side characters, a story full of heart and swoon worthy moments, along with a grump that is soft only for her, then this book should be at the top of your TBR!
The chemistry and yearning between Walker & Tally is top tier! The slow burn is so worth savouring, because when these two get together that “not a cowboy” has a deliciously dirty mouth!
I loved Tally and all of her sass and teasing of Walker. She comes across to most as wild and care free, but Walker can see deeper than surface level, and although she is most definitely a wildflower, she realises she can stand tall and grow right where she is!
Walker is the epitome of grumpy and down bad in equal measures! Even though he likes to communicate in grunts and is used to relying solely on himself, Tally gets him to ease up on the stoicism and shows him that family and friends are a blessing!
I really hope we get to visit Hope Harbour again soon, I’d love to see Penny, Rosie & Billie get to tell their stories and I can’t wait for more book club shenanigans and Liberty Ladies being all kinds of inappropriate in the towns group chat!
Thank you to Brittanée and Evermore for an eARC of Darling Daffoldils Farm, it was absolutely my pleasure to read this book early!
I thought this was such a cute book. Did I need a little more character development at the beginning? Yes, but that’s the only other thing I really needed. I love love love the small town aspect and would have loved even more interaction with the town. I want the town to get involved and to mess with them even more.
Tally Darling comes home to help her mom with the farm after her dad unexpectedly passes away with the full intentions of heading back to her seasonal jobs that she has been busy with so that she can afford to go to culinary school. She meets Walker, and they HATE each other. Like hate hate. She wants to help with the farm more and Walker is like don’t freaking touch my daffodils. Apparently Walker is a soil whisperer who was brought to the farm to help since it was going down. Tally faces some challenges in missing her dad whose presence lingers all over the farm everywhere she looks. It takes her time to come to love that.
Tally and Walker…oh boy…when the sparks start flying, they REALLY start flying. They even start flying out of the blue when Walker claims to hate her then all of a sudden has thoughts of her in his bed at the same time 🤣. The progression of the hatred to the sparks through me off a little but it was still good! Spice is a 4🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. Good lord they did it everywhere 🤣.
All in all I DO recommend this book! If you want a cute small town story with a lot of spice, please read this book. It’s fast, it’s easy and you will laugh and love it.
Favorite parts:
When Tally realizes she’s not going crazy form thinking she’s using too much shampoo. 😂😂😂 When Eli goads Walker. When Walker says I love you for the first time.
