From the self-publishing superstar with a quickly growing fanbase comes a rivals-to-lovers romance about a young woman who returns home to run her family’s flower farm and wedding venue, in this first installment of the Hope Harbor series.
They say you can never tame a wildflower...
Tallulah “Tally” Darling never stays in one place for long. When her sister begs her to come home to help with the family daffodil farm, Tally has a spend the spring in Hope Harbor getting her mother through wedding season, then back to her life as an aspiring pastry chef by summer.
But she doesn’t expect to find Jesse Walker, the hottest grump she’s ever met, half-naked in her childhood bedroom. He claims that not only is it his bedroom, but he's also running her late daddy's farm, which means he’s Tally’s new roommate and boss. While everyone in town seems enamored by the man, Tally dislikes Walker immediately and the feeling is completely mutual. So she devises a new prove to everyone that he can’t be trusted.
But like everything in her life, it goes awry. The moment Tally hears him moan over one of her signature caramel honey cupcakes she can barely think, let alone plot his demise. Then she discovers how it feels when they kiss. Can true love blossom this spring? Or will a hidden secret cost Tally not just her heart, but Darling Daffodils Farm?
I really enjoyed this, it was cute, lighthearted and emotional and it had me giggling and laughing!! This was such a great start to the series, can't wait to read more.
Tally is back in her hometown, now that her dad died and her family needs her to help on the farm, but she's only there for a limited time.. But, a surprise in a shape of a hot cowboy is waiting for her at home.. Walker is running the farm now and he doesn't like her. She doesn't trust him, he's keeping secrets, but as they spend more time together, getting to know each other, their chemistry is hard to ignore..
I loved Walker, he's moody and he absolutely hates people and conversations, but there's nothing better than a grumpy man that only smiles for her. He was a hard worker, always there for his family and I loved seeing him open up more and ask for help. He saw the real Tally and I loved how supportive he was of her. Tally was determined and it broke my heart seeing her grief and how she doubted herself, she was always trying to do her best... Seeing her gain more confidence and live her dream was so special. She was a ray of sunshine, I loved how she made Walker happier and lighter, I loved her teasing him. She always stood her ground with him and I really enjoyed seeing her reconnect with everyone. I loved Billie and Quinn, they deserve the world and Penny, Rosie and Tally were such an amazing friend group. I do wish Gail and Penny saw Tally more, but I also wish she was honest with them. I adored Eli and I can't wait to learn more about Fletcher.
I loved their banter, them being vulnerable, the wildflowers and the honey cupcakes, the cabin and the dancing and all that sexual tension that really paid off.. It was so good and so hot!! Them being reluctant roommates to friends to lovers was a great progression, I really enjoyed it. Also "Cowboy Like Me" is totally their song!!
I didn't like the miscommunication at the beginning.. It was frustrating, but I did enjoy their moments after. There was a third-act conflict and I was really afraid it's going to cause a break-up, but fortunately that wasn't the case. They communicated their problems, but I do wish the secret wasn't kept for so long.. With all the miscommunication I was going to lower my rating, but then this book made me cry (happy tears, okay), so I can't do that now. It was such a wonderful and sweet moment.
I absolutely adored the towm, the Liberty Ladies and their book club were my favourite, that was so entertaining. I loved how the town was always ready to help and the group chat was absolutely hilarious, I can't wait to see more of it. The town trying to always include Walker and loving him, even do he only communicated in grunts was the highlight of the story. I died laughing.
This series is going to turn into one of my favourites, I just know it. I love them all so much!! I can't wait to read Penny's and Rosie's stories and of course Eli's.
*Thank you to Netgalley and a huge thank you to Evermore Books UK for providing me with an ARC.*
I think I've found my new addiction: the first book in the Hope Harbor series doesn't just make you feel good—it makes you want to somersault through flower farms while blasting your favorite Taylor Swift song at full volume, grinning like an absolute fool because you've finally, finally found your happy place. This fictional town and its wonderfully vivid residents welcomed me with open arms into what might be the best fictional home I never knew I needed!
Don't get me wrong—the book already had me hooked with its perfect romance, the delicious steam, and chemistry so palpable you could bottle it and sell it as a controlled substance. But the Hope Harbor Town Chat segments? They deserve their own standalone book! I'm not exaggerating when I say they made me laugh so hard I literally fell off my couch with stomach cramps, gasping for air like I'd inhaled laughing gas. I couldn't stop. They're that hilarious—perfectly timed comedic relief that adds so much heart and humor to the story.
And that burning chemistry between the hottest cowboy alive, Jesse Walker (who gave me major Jared Padalecki vibes—especially since his name shares the title of Padalecki's canceled CW series!), and Tally, whose last name couldn't be more perfect? Chef's kiss. She's an absolute babe, a real darling who reminded me of Taylor Swift during her early country music days—sweet, ambitious, a little wild, and utterly captivating. The supporting characters are all fantastic, but I have to admit I developed a major soft spot for Eli. I cannot wait to read his book, though I suspect we'll need to be patient and wait for Penny's and Rosie's stories first. Still, the anticipation is killing me!
If I had any talent whatsoever, I'd create special floral bouquets or compose a love song to belt at the top of my lungs just to express how much I adored this book and how desperately I'm looking forward to devouring the next one. I'd do it immediately, without a second thought! This book is pure gold!
The enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, and grumpy-meets-sunshine tropes couldn't have been executed more perfectly. The story follows Tally Darling, who returns to her hometown after her father's sudden death to help run the family's daffodil farm short-term and support her grieving mother. But when she discovers a naked cowboy in her childhood bedroom, she realizes just how much has changed in her absence.
Enter Jesse Walker—the man who's been maintaining the farm's business and already has his life meticulously planned out. He's determined to convince his sister and adorable nephew Quinn to move in with him so he can build a stable life on the farm. Then Tally appears out of nowhere, pushing all his buttons and completely derailing his carefully laid plans. Jesse's harboring secrets he can't share—bound by both a promise and an NDA agreement he made with Tally's mother, Gail. He can keep secrets, sure. But can he keep the promise he made to Tally's late father—that he won't do anything inappropriate with his daughter while they're living under the same roof?
That promise becomes increasingly difficult to keep when Tally is everywhere—baking cupcakes to die for, wearing flirty floral sundresses and curve-hugging spandex that showcase her dreamy figure. Their attraction is too palpable to ignore. But Walker's been burned before, and Tally is a wildflower who can't be contained. He knows you can't keep a wildflower in one place, especially when she has dreams to pursue beyond Hope Harbor.
But as they spend more time together and truly get to know each other, they can't hold back anymore. Could they become more than friends even as the day of Tally's departure looms closer? Can they lower their guards long enough to give happiness a real chance?
Overall: This sweet, scorching-hot romance earns five billion "Cowboy Like Me" stars from me! I wholeheartedly, enthusiastically, with-my-whole-chest recommend it to anyone who loves small-town charm, sizzling chemistry, laugh-out-loud humor, and romance that makes your heart ache in the best possible way.
A huge, heartfelt thanks to NetGalley and Putnam/G.P. Putnam's Sons for sharing this amazing romance ARC with me in exchange for my honest thoughts. This book absolutely delivered, and I'm already counting down the days until the next Hope Harbor installment.

I was so excited to read this because I’ve heard nothing but good things about it, and look at that cover!! It’s so freaking beautiful! 😍🌷✨
But I didn’t like the characters, and the plot/conflict was a bit weird. Tally was annoying because, I’m sorry, but you leave your hometown–which is totally fine, I don’t care what you do with your life–but you come back and are upset that your mom hired someone to do the job your dad wanted you to do and demand it back since it’s your parents farm even though you prove to be unreliable since you left in the first place? That sounds like nepotism to me, lmao 😂 Nah, I’m just kidding, but it did seem utterly ridiculous that she was making a mountain out of a molehill when everything has been working out just fine without her. God forbid they try to keep thriving without you, Tally.
I do think she had reason to be suspicious of–what’s his name–Walker, but she could have done a background check on him with the sheriff’s help or something and not snoop around like a jealous and vengeful teenager. Walker’s annoyance was valid because it’s Tally, but the man should at least try to clear the air so she won’t annoy him or me. Just talk, dude! I’m begging you at this point. 😭🙏🏼
Anyway, I might try to read this again sometime soon because I have the second book in this series, and I should know what happens to Tally and Walker, even though I have a pretty good idea how it’s all going to play out. I’ll just have to shut the little critic in my head up and just read the damn book. 😂 But for now, I’m not going to even think about it.
𓍢ִ໋🌷͙֒ Thank you to Putnam | G.P. Putnam’s Sons and NetGalley for providing the arc in exchange for an honest review! All opinions and statements are my own. 𓍢ִ໋🌷͙֒
Felt like a late evening walk through a wildflower field while holding hands with a hot cowboy that adores you 💛🌷🩷 a must SPRING-themed read for a smutty SOULFUL ROMANCE & cozy small town vibes!
Tally aka ’Wildflower’ ✨ aspiring baker that comes alive in the kitchen 🧁 loves dancing with wildflowers in the rain ✨ still grieving her dad 🧁 loves cooking for her cowboy ✨ would do anything for her family!
Walker aka ’Cowboy’ ✨ simple farmer with a strong heart & love for his land 🤠 he’s not above BEGGING ✨ talks in grunts but fully proficient in dirty talk 🤠 virtual internet sensation (against his will!) ✨ obsessed with her scent!
✨🌷 💛🌷🩷 🌷✨
When Tally returns home to help out on the family farm she doesn’t expect to find a NAKES COWBOY in her old bedroom. First, she checks him out….then screams bloody murder 👀 The two are soon forced to work together to save the family farm….even if they drive each other crazy! Unrealized attraction melts in the spring sun to uncover a deep desire to BELONG & be truly seen!
“When she’s in my arms, life isn’t so complicated. Spend my days on the farm; spend my nights with this woman. Smile more.”
I absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED this romance 🩷🩷 These two were the epitome of the grumpy/sunshine trope but with a strong heart, love for their family & desire to chase their dreams! ROMANCE WITH A SOUL! I also didn’t expect it to be as smutty but yeeeehaw for Walker’s dirty mouth!!
The story beautifully captures the excitement of the spring season & strong sense of community 🌷✨ Besides the amazing romance the book has such strong side characters and giggle-worthy predicaments that this an effortlessly entertaining read. You will find a spicy romance book club (dildos included!), cowboy-inspired famers markets & hilariously meddlesome townsfolk.
I will be recommending this to EVERYONE!
grumpy x sunshine forced proximity protective family man age gap secret relationship & sneaking around neck holding pussy slaps DIRTY TALK female friendships grief small town dual pov NO 3rd act breakup! HEA
I opened this book expecting something cute and light, and suddenly I’m emotionally attached to a farm full of daffodils, tulips and wildflowers.😭😭 It felt peaceful at first, like returning to a childhood memory, but it didn’t take long before things got complicated. Tally comes home thinking she’s stepping into familiar comfort, only to find a complete stranger living in her space like he belongs there. And the worst part is the way everyone acts like that’s normal… like she’s the only one out of the loop.
Walker is a whole experience. He speaks only when necessary, and even then he looks like he’d rather swallow nails. He’s moody, uninterested in people, and allergic to conversation, yet somehow the town absolutely loves him. 😂😂 Meanwhile, Tally is just trying to reconnect with the farm she thought she knew. She wants to help, she wants to honor her dad’s legacy, but there’s a secret hanging over everything that no one warned her about. The silence around it stings more than the truth itself, and I kept wishing she’d been given the chance to handle it sooner.
One of my favorite parts of the story was the group of older women who pop in and out of Tally’s life like they’ve got season tickets to all the drama. 💁🏼♀️💁🏼♀️ They’re hilarious, nosy in the best way, and surprisingly supportive when it matters. They treat spicy book club reads like important town documents, and their commentary adds a whole layer of warmth and comedy that makes the book feel alive. 👏🏼
And somewhere in all that chaos, Tally starts reaching places in Walker no one else has bothered to look. Not through grand declarations, but through quiet persistence, food that tastes like comfort, and the kind of patience that doesn’t ask for anything in return. Watching him soften around her was honestly one of my favorite parts. And when things finally shift between them, it’s sweet and sinful in exactly the way their tension promised. Bold enough to make you blush. Soft enough to make you swoon. (Get ready because it is HOT 🥵) Also…you’re not ready for the sweet side of Walker… read some of the quotes I have that he said throughout the book to Tally 🥹🫶🏼
I kept bracing myself for the big dramatic breakup… you know the one angst-filled blowup that almost every romance forces in just for the trope of it? 🙄 It never came. The conflict felt real, the emotions were complicated, but instead of ruining everything, the characters actually talked. It felt honest and earned.
If this is only book one, I’m already in too deep. ✋🏼😭 I’m completely attached to these characters, these flowers, the sweetness, the spice, and the quiet man who somehow has everyone’s attention without saying much at all. I’m so ready to see what comes next🫶🏼🫶🏼
(it better be a book for Rosie and Fletcher or I’m going to scream)

“Tally has the kind of smile that should be permanently on display.”

super excited for this one. i just loveeee the cover!
Darling Daffodils is small town romance perfection! The chemistry from the enemies-to-lovers setup is explosive, and every character is charming and impossible not to love. I fell head first into this world and found myself smiling more and more with every page. Entertaining, romantic, and fun, this is a read I'd recommend to any romance fan!
Holy small town perfection! This was such a sweet and charming romance. Tally and Walker were so cute together. I loved how the man was determined to keep his distance but just kept melting for her instead. The way he was obsessed with Tally was so attractive. While the lighthearted read did explore grief and some deeper topics, I appreciated that the story never got heavy, and it added just the perfect dash of seriousness. I also loved all of the nosy townspeople and how kind everyone was; the way the town came together to support Tally and Walker was so sweet. Not to mention all the spring activities and the imagery with the town and farm. It was such a lovely little place to picture, the setting was so dreamy. Altogether, this cozy romance perfectly balances swoon, softness, and steam to wrap up into the most comforting and addictive read.
~Many thanks to Putnam for an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Actual rating 4.25 ⭐️
This was my first Brittanne Nicole book and I absolutely loved it! When I started this book I was expecting it to be cute and light, and suddenly I was emotionally attached to a flower farm and these characters that I adore! The romance between Tally and Walker was everything I wanted. The banter, the sweet moments between them, the tension, the spice... everything was incredible! There was a conflict at the end but they actually communicated their problems and figured it out without the need of a breakup and I absolutely loved this!
One of my favorite part of this book was the group chat and the older ladies who just insert themselves in Tally's life wanting all of the drama, but they are sooo supportive at the end. The spicy book club was so fun!
By the end of the book I fell in love with these characters, the farm, the daffodils and tulips and wildflowers and I can't wait to see what comes next.
Brittanee Nicole has started off this new small town series with a masterpiece. She blended small town charm, a daffodil farm, diverse characters and emotional aspects to perfection.
The rivals to lovers vibe was done well. Walker & Tally were swoony. 💕 “Cowboy” & baker
And it’s a flower farm, how much cuter could the setting be. Tally is from said farm, Walker works for that farm. A little mystery aspect at play.
The way this author writes tough topics with gentle grace always sticks out to me.
The town chats… BN writes group chats like no one else.
So grateful I was able to read this early early. Netgalley arc review ✨
Fires off, I loved this and I’m so excited about this small town era I love HOPE HARBOR so much. I also loved the narration. This book was already a five star read, but the narration was fantastic. So easy to listen to and get lost in.
Tally and Walker are everything. Brittanee Nicole can do no wrong in my eyes and this book was everything I ever could have wanted.
This is small town at its best, and I love everything about Hope Harbor and this series. I love the town, I love the group chats and I loved the Relationship between Tally and Walker.
✨ Small Town Romance ✨ “not a cowboy” x baker ✨ Age Gap ✨ Enemies to Lovers ✨Forced Proximity
There is this instant chemistry between Tally and Walker from the moment they meet and that turns into a delicious slow burn where these two really get to know each other and became important to each other.
I loved them so much, and not only was their story beautiful, their chemistry was off the charts.
I have been bullied over and over again to read Brittanée Nicole’s books and now I’m kicking myself in the ass for waiting this long to pick up a book of hers. I’m also low key mad that y'all didn’t bully me harder. But you know what, now that I have experienced my first Brittanée Nicole book, I fear Brittanée is stuck with me til the end of time 😘
If you are picking up this book thinking it's going to be a sweet little romance, don't let the cover fool you because this one is hot. Now don't get me wrong, you will get a lot of sweet moments but you will also be graced with a lot of spicy moments as well. I mean there are several scenes that will in fact live rent free.
I really loved the plot of this one. It's a small town romance where our FMC, Tally, is returning home to help save her family's daffodil farm after her father passed away. Upon returning home, she quickly realizes that a lot has changed. One of those changes is Walker, who is now in charge of the farm. These two are complete opposites. Walker is so grumpy and Tally is a walking ray of sunshine. And if you guessed that they clashed in every possible way you would be correct. But it makes for an entertaining plot.
Like I said this one was super cute and the spice was a spicing! The banter was top tier. The town group chat had me laughing out loud. At the end of the day, if you love a small town romance, I think you will love this one! I know I did and I can't wait to read the rest of the books that are to come in this series! Brittanée did an amazing job setting the town for what is to come!
You should most definitely read this book if you like: - Small Town Romance - Returning Home - Hate to Love - Roommates to Lovers - Secret Hook Ups - Age Gap - Forced Proximity - Workplace Romance - Grumpy x Sunshine
* I would like to thank Netgalley and Putnam for allowing me the pleasure to read this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, opinions and review.
3.75 ⭐️ This was 50% annoying, 50% swooning romance...
Ok, so you know when you can tell two people have amazing chemistry, but they can't get their head out of their a**es long enough to figure it out for themselves?? Well, that's basically the first 50% of this book.
The misscommunication shtick and the fact that Jesse - our MMC- literally REFUSED to have a conversation with Tally - FMC- to the point where she makes awful, borderline hurtful decisions based on that lack of info... Even when she asked point-blank about it! His response was 'Just do what you're told'. In-fu**ing-furiating!
Then they finally give in and Jesse makes a 180º and all the sudden his conviced she's his everything... Nope. I'm a BIG fan of insta-love and insta-lust, but even for me this was a bit too much. Mostly because I'd already gotten so over both of them being annoying. And yes, Tally had her fair share of unfortunate decisions. Mostly the fact that she also LOVED being secretive even when she's the most obnoxious person around, almost at all times - which I enjoyed but felt like it contradicted the plot.
Overall, it was a great book, but honesty time: I had to take a couple of day's break after the bar scene because I was SO MAD at them both! After that it's kind of smooth sailing tho.
🌶🌶🌶/5 - There's really nothing going on the first half, but oh boy, does the second part pick up the slack... and then some!
Thank you sooooo much Net Galley, publisher and Brittanee Nicole's team for granting me this ARC! I've been the biggest BN's fan for what feels like ages now, and this was kind of a dream come true for me!! Still, the review is very clearly my honest opinion, so no worries there!
i just saw a tiktok of this author’s bestfriend going to the bookstore and show this book. it was such a cute moment but unfortunately the book is not very cute.
i am so tired of romance books with insta-lust. i am putting it down at 40% and it has been a week since the characters met and they are already very emotionally attached and attracted to each other. i know attraction is important for romantic love but why is it portrayed in this manner all the time? its instant and its so physical. both the main characters povs are just them talking about how much they want to fuck each other. he talks about the outfits she is wearing in every other chapter. also sick of this dynamic where the guy hasn’t been with anyone for years but suddenly this random woman has him thinking differently because she is not like his ex. she would never make him choose between his family and her. stop✋🏽 kudos to the this guy’s ex for leaving his sorry ass.
also, are houses in america made of cardboard? why can he hear her masturbate from the other end of the hallway? besides why is my girl masturbating to the man she met a week ago and with whom she has some serious issues? and his name is jesse walker and the townspeople call him walker. as far as i can remember she calls him walker too or i dont think she has called him by his first name till i have read. but she does moan his name during her little session i just want to know what is she calling him. i had a little laugh thinking how this girl is just moaning the guy’s surname while getting herself off. like that is also the name of his father who was abusive💀
lastly, reading all these small town romances made me realise that if i were to live in such a closed knit community i would be hated by the people. and i am a woman so no one consider me to be grumpy and hot i would just be a bitch.
Darling Daffodils Farm was the perfect spring romance and honestly had me smiling the entire time. From the very beginning, the chemistry between the FMC and MMC was impossible to ignore. Even when they were getting under each other’s skin, you could tell the attraction was already there.
His grumpy personality mixed with her sunshine energy was absolute perfection. I loved watching him slowly open up to her throughout the story, and their relationship felt so natural and fun to read.
The small town vibes were also everything I wanted. The town was nosy in the best way possible, but also so connected and full of people who truly cared about each other.
If you’re looking for a cute romance with cozy small town charm, a little spice, and all the springtime feels, this is definitely one to pick up. 🌼
I’ll admit the beginning felt a little rocky, but it ended up being a quick, fun read.
A big part of the early tension revolves around the secrecy surrounding the flower fields, and at first I struggled a bit with that. I understand the idea behind not wanting to burden your children with family problems, but the level of secrecy and hiding things, especially from their own mother, felt a little unnecessary to me. It almost came across more like deception than protection. I was glad, though, that this didn’t drag into a very long dramatic conflict and the story moved forward fairly quickly. (it's still mentioned through out the book and the "big" reveal at the end, but I am glad we didn't had a long, looong drama over it)
Once things settled, the book really worked.
We get enemies to lovers, forced proximity, baker × grumpy cowboy energy (Walker insists he is definitely not a cowboy, but oh well :D). There is also a bit of an age gap and a slow burn that eventually turns pretty spicy.
Tally was a fun FMC. She has a lively personality and brings a lot of energy to the story. Like some heroines in similar setups, I did wish she believed in herself at times, but overall I really enjoyed her.
Walker starts off as a proper grumpy grouch, but I loved seeing him slowly open up as the story progressed. And yes, he definitely gives strong “he falls first” vibes (he tries not to but he did not stand a chance).
The small town setting was also great. Hope Harbor is full of meddling townspeople, but they felt more supportive and well intentioned than annoying, which made the community aspect really enjoyable.
The pacing worked well for me too. A few small hiccups here and there, but overall it was a fast and very bingeable read. I finished it in one night.
Also, I am now very curious about the mayor. I feel like there is definitely a story there and I’m hoping we get it in a future book.
⭐ 4 stars
Thank you NetGalley and G.P. Putnam’s Sons for the ARC.
I know it's part of country life or some such thing, but adults who call their father "daddy" is so cringe to me, and I feel like I never hear men do this. (?) I really enjoyed the story overall, when she took the covers off the daffodils I was dying!
3.25. Tally returns to run her family’s flower farm to find Walker has taken over her father’s business and is staying in her house. After losing her father she’s trying to find some peace in the familiar and this put a huge damper on her plans. They decide to see if they can tolerate one another in close proximity to make things work for both of them.
This was definitely cute and I really really enjoyed the story in the beginning. I loved Tally’s sassy confidence and the cast of characters. The flirting and tension was fun but I did not like this man and that will ruin it for me every time. His issue with her was ridiculous and he would benefit from therapy. I just didn’t know anything about him other than he wanted her physically. He didn’t ever really mention anything ABOUT her that he liked or enjoyed. By the time they hooked up, I lost interest because there wasn’t a lot of substance to their relationship. This was great for a palette cleanser and had some fun and hot moments though! I’ll be reading the next book and hoping to connect to the characters more.
Thank you so much to Netgalley, Brittanée Nicole, and Putnam for providing this free E-ARC. HAPPY PUB DAY! This is my honest review.
this was the PERFECT spring romance, full of love, giddiness, a cowboy 🤠, and lightness. i haven't read a romance that i've really enjoyed in a while and this hit the spot. it felt as though it'd make a great netflix show, i saw everything so clearly in my mind, and i can't wait for the next one in the series! 💐
he did what to what and what happened?? this book should be 200 pages shorter and Sarah Adams babes pls know someone is trying to rip off your masterpiece
Enemies to Lovers Small Town Romance Secret Romance
So obsessed with this story!!!!! Tally’s back in her hometown and finds her childhood room has been taken over by Walker. I loved how they had to live together, and share a bathroom 🤭 Taking care of the Daffodil farm together. Walker was my absolute favorite!!!!!! Swoon worthy to the max! I really enjoyed the story and secrets being uncovered. Tally and Walker were so great together. This was my first from this Author and I look forward to MORE!!
“You make me think of nothing but you. Damn distracting is what you are”
“But I thought you don’t dance?” 🤭😋
Tropes: Small town romance Forced proximity Grumpy and sunshine Rivals to lovers Found family Slow burn
This book was so fun to read. It had that perfect mix of sweet, funny, and emotional moments, and I genuinely found myself smiling (and yes, giggling) way more than I expected. It’s such a strong start to the series, and I already know I’m going to be continuing, consider me officially hooked.
There’s just something about this story that feels so warm and comforting. The small-town setting, the wholesome vibes, the characters, it all came together in a way that made it ridiculously easy to get lost in. I had so much fun reading this, and honestly, I didn’t want it to end.
Walker… wow. He’s the definition of grumpy and closed-off, barely speaks, avoids people like the plague, and always looks like he’s one inconvenience away from losing it. And yet somehow, everyone in town adores him?? I don’t get it, but I love it. Also, I was not prepared for that man’s mouth… sir?? Where did THAT come from?? 🥵
Tally was really endearing overall. I loved her caring nature and how she always wanted to help and fix things. That said, there were a few moments where I was a little confused by her decisions, especially around her future plans. It felt unnecessarily secretive at times, and I kept thinking things could’ve been simpler if she’d just been a bit more open. Still, she was easy to like, and I enjoyed following her journey.
The dynamic between Tally and Walker was definitely a highlight. The transition from reluctant housemates to something more was done really well. Their banter at the beginning was fun, and once that tension started shifting… wow. The slow build made everything feel more meaningful, and their chemistry was so good, plenty of tension, plenty of swoony moments.
And the town itself?? Obsessed. The sense of community added so much charm, especially with the group chat (which I loved). But the real stars were the Liberty Ladies, they completely stole the show for me. Every scene with them was a win 😂.
3.5/5 This book was okay. I don’t know if I just didn’t connect to the story or the characters but I lost interest about 75% of the way. Walker is cool he’s probably my favorite character. He seemed like the most reasonable despite all the restrictions set against him. Tally was okay. I feel like in 2026 it is a very widely understood notion that not everyone goes to culinary school and you don’t need to go to culinary school to own a bakery? It just seemed like a silly point of contention. The story was okay. The plot was fine. A lot more spicy than I thought and I honestly think it hindered the book just a bit. It didn’t help keep my interest and I honestly skipped a few spicy scenes because I felt like I had just read one. Cute moments but maybe could have been more…entertaining idk less sex scenes more communication and romance 🫶🏽
the only reason this gets a 5 even tho i DNF-ed it is because it's not the books fault. I read SO many small town romances and this felt exactly like every other one I've read. I don't mind a formula; if it ain't broke don't fix it, but it just wasn't working for me at this point in time.
the conflict and the reasons for disliking each other were also so stupid. I'm sure it gets better and is a good book, as it really wasn't bad, but I don't plan on returning to it.

Thank you so much for the gifted audiobook, PRHaudio!
“My life was so dark before I met you. But I think I needed to weather all of that, so that I could come out on the other side to this beautiful life you helped me create.”
Holy Smokes, y’all! This book had the most perfect blend of grumpy x sunshine + sweet & spicy!
The narrators for the audiobook, Liam Cortright & Savannah Peachwood, were perfect together. I am a big fan of Savannah Peachwood. She always captures the voice of whoever she is narrating for. Liam Cortright was new to me but I loved his voice!
“It’s okay to take your dreams by inches and not by miles.”
It was great getting to see our FMC, Tally Darling, heal throughout the story. She’s someone that has been misunderstood by her town and family for a long time. She has a lot of self doubt when it comes to her dream of being a baker but getting to see Jesse and the town make that dream come true was so special!
“She tastes like salted caramel and sugar. Like honey cupcakes and all my dreams coming true.”
Jesse was someone that constantly put his sister and nephew’s happiness and care above his own. At his heart he is such a great man and I loved the journey he went on internally to finding his happiness, and letting himself reach for it.
“You don’t have to be strong anymore.”
The spice and banter in this book was so well done! Omg, when I say it hit, I mean it really HIT! ❤️🔥 These two were truly FERAL for each other. All the sneaking around was so HOT. 🤭🥵
“Undo my belt, Wildflower. Show me what a good girl you can be.”
Cowboy & his Wildflower, FOREVER!
“Who said we have to wait until tonight? Be more creative, Cowboy.” 😉
I can’t wait for the next book in this series because this town and all its’ kooky, meddlesome inhabitants, have a special place in my heart!
