It is so encouraging to read all these questions and ponderings about Christianity and faith and life, in Augustine’s diary style prayer to God.

Most of these questions and trouble we have faced have been already experienced and thought deeply about by the generations before us.

Many of the things discussed in these books I have thought about before, even basic things that seem to have no clear answer. It was such a blessing to hear these discussed more in depth and more informed than I could do on my own.

The testimony and life story of Augustine was also greatly encouraging to read. 100% would recommend!

I do not really think I can review Confessions itself, except to say that it is one of the most important Christian classics and best devotional and self-reflecting work in existence.

But, this translation was a new one to me. I have read several others, and this one is good. Probably just second to Henry Chadwick's translation.

Really good book. Kept me engaged except for the last few books. I think I understand where he was going with them, but it did become rather repetitive and esoteric. Otherwise I highly recommend this.
