This is book 1 of the Shadow Unit Operations series. This book is broken up into Parts and each Part contains five chapters with the exception of Part Four which contains seven chapters. The Parts are titled as follows: The Silence, The Architecture, The Network, and The Core.
What do you do when a rogue AI threatens everything you know? You hope you have a crew like the crew of Shadow Unit: Ghost Protocol. Don’t let the fact that there are only 22 chapters fool you. This book is extensive in descriptions of weapons, tactical assessments and applications, mental and physical limitations, and technology. At times, the descriptions are a little intense when reading and I had to go back and reread to make sure I understood what was going on. With that being said, I read through this book and hoped that chapter 20 didn’t happen. And then chapter 20 happened. For all the tactical and technology speak, chapter 20 is so full of emotion that it brought me to tears. Not little tears either. The big ones that roll down your face and come out of your eyes so fast you can’t see. I was literally sobbing into my (multiple) Kleenex’s.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys space, military incursions, AI technology, chain of command diversions. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.
My final thought: May there always be the 5.3%.

Shadow Unit - Ghost
Protocol
As I’ve said before sci-fi is not my favourite read however my curiosity was piqued by the summary.
So is it - A.I. or an Invasion, organic or technological, 48000 people have disappeared and Shadow Team must solve the mystery. For me the actual antagonist was mysterious and I enjoyed the surprise when it was identified.
I found some of the military and computer speak a little hard to follow but perhaps a sci-fi afficiando might have it easier. Either way the book was entertaining and kept me in it until the end.
