It's remarkable & sad how so many people blindly hate the Musk family. For example, Netgalley allows anyone to vote on a book's cover. Maye Musk's book got 8 thumbs up and 44 thumbs down. I doubt it's because they dislike the font or layout selection. They just hate Maye's son, Elon, so they conclude his mom must also be the devil.

If blind, close-minded hatred for any Musk consumes you, then nothing I say will change your mind. However, if you have an open mind and would like to learn if this is a book worth reading, then continue.

Ironically, most people who hate Elon would love Maye if they just gave her a chance.

Most Musk haters are progressives who stand up for strong women who fight the violent patriarchy.
Liberals fight for poor single mothers, who must struggle against the odds.
Those on the left favor immigrants and celebrate women who don't conform to society's pressure to dye their hair as they age.

Maye Musk is all these things.
Maye also modeled nearly naked to pretend to be pregnant in her 60s to celebrate women over 40 who decide to have children (e.g., geriatric pregnancy).

In "Timeless," you'll learn about Elon's younger brother, Kimbal, who is the opposite of Elon: easy-going, charming, funny, and a chef. Kimbal co-founded Elon's first company and was the face of the company because Elon was so socially awkward and abrasive, as his mom explains.

Tosca is Elon's youngest daughter. She's created a small female-focused movie studio.

Maye pugnaciously raised these 3 remarkable children while struggling against extreme odds.
It's a tale about valiant feminism, grit, and love.
It's also a story about a woman who found that life after 50 took off.
In a youth-obsessed culture (especially for women), this is a powerful, hopeful message.

I read it in one night.

And no, it's not all about Elon. Perhaps 15% of the book is about Elon.
Naturally, Elon's mom defends her son, but she also critiques him. She knows his flaws and shares them. It's an honest book.

I received an advance copy of Timeless: The Art of Reinvention and Resilience at Any Age by Maye Musk through a Goodreads giveaway sponsored by the author and publisher.

What I enjoyed most about this book was its message that there really isn't an age limit on starting over or trying something new. Maye Musk looks back on the many different chapters of her life, including raising three children, building careers in both nutrition and modeling, moving between countries, and finding greater success later in life.

I especially liked reading about how her modeling career continued to grow as she got older. In a world that puts so much emphasis on youth, it was refreshing to read about someone embracing her age rather than treating it as something that needed to hold her back.

There are difficult parts of her story as well, including an unhealthy marriage and times when she had to rebuild her life. But the book never felt overly heavy to me. Her experiences are shared with a sense of looking forward rather than dwelling on the past.

This was a quick, encouraging read about resilience, confidence, and being willing to take chances on yourself. You certainly don't have to be in your seventies to appreciate the reminder that a new chapter can begin at just about any point in life.
