Blurb:
Regan Fielding is tired to death of being set up on blind dates. Why does everyone seem to think she needs a man in her life to be happy? She's perfectly content to snuggle up with a good book and a pile of chocolate. No real guy could ever compare to her romantic heroes, so why even try?

Jesse Connelly is looking for something real in his life - something long-lasting. He's not interested in fast relationships and even faster breakups. When he meets Regan, he senses that she's looking for the same thing, but now he needs to convince her of that.

Regan agrees to go on one date with Jesse - just one - if it means that her friends will finally stop pestering her. But what if one date turns into something so much more?

"Me, my books, and chocolate--we're a match made in heaven." Right away, I knew I was going to connect with and like Regan. She is content to let her roommates find love and to just lose herself in her books, since that's where she feels romance belongs. She has the perfect job (working in a bookstore) and she's perfectly content with life. Until she lets herself get talked into a blind date with one of her roommate's boyfriend's good friends.

Jesse is a great guy--really down-to-earth. He owns an outdoors store and loves nothing more than to be one with nature, which is apparent since he goes camping almost every weekend. He's very kind, caring, and passionate about what he loves.

A camping trip gone wrong really brings out what's important in life, and not just Dutch oven potatoes. I enjoyed the realizations the characters come to, as well as the romance that blossoms, as fast as it was. This series is a lot of fun--full of clean romance, interesting characters, and unique story lines.

Content: Clean romance (kissing, brief mention of an assault); no language, violence, or religion; a few tense moments of peril.

Cute

This is my first book in the Main Street Merchants series, I was glad it could stand on its own. I want to go back and read the other ones now. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. It was well written and I liked both main characters. I loved Regans love of books, I could totally relate to her in that respect. She was a fun character. I also liked Jesse, he really grew on me throughout the book. They had a sweet relationship Overall, it was a fun novella and one I would read again.

Book 5 in the squeaky clean set. Poor Max doesn't have a book yet.

This is about Regan, the fourth in the roommate quartet who has yet to find a mate...and there's a good reason. But the roomies intervene and convince her to go to the art gallery opening with Jesse who owns the outdoors store down the street and he's Brennan's cousin. Both are introverts, but she prefers the indoors and he prefers the outdoors.

After a successful date, they have dinner and then she freaks out. But Cara convinces her to go camping with them where it's disastrous and almost fatal.

And then we learn about Jesse's purity ring and then he proposes AND asks her to wear a purity ring and that just made me cringe. He proposes a WEEK after meeting her and she clearly has issues based on her past. AND, her best friend almost dies while hiking. Why would she want to rush into marriage? Will she still want to camp? And why? I'm still not sure why these people belong together? Didn't feel this at all.

This 5th book I the Main Street Merchants clean romance series is another winner. At only 83 pages I marvel at how much page turning reality went into this story. I really appreciate how Ms. Timothy has taken a core group of characters who participate in each novel in the series. This is definitely a series that should be read in sequence if you seek the best reading experience. My five star rating is based on Between the Lines being part of the series where character development takes place throughout the series, not in a single offering. If read as a stand-alone work it would probably only be awarded about three stars. The reader simply could not appreciate the interplay between Regan, Cara, Laurie, Morgan, Rory, and Brennan without having read the prior books in the series. As stated in some of my prior reviews of books in this series, Ms. Timothy needs to take a hard look at her proof readers. They simply let too many obvious errors pass through to publication.

Regan only needs books and chocolate to be happy, but she's having a hard time convincing her three happily-engaged roommates that she's happy without a fiance. So she agrees to one "not-so-blind" date (because they already know each other, but are too introverted to actually talk to each other) with Jesse. We learn why Regan is against any relationship, and it's sweet to see Jesse win her over. On a double date camping trip with her best friend Cara and her fiance Brennan, tragedy strikes which brings them together.

Another cute novella... This whole series is perfect if you're in the mood for some fun, light reading!

This book was on Amazon yesterday for $.99 so I picked it up. I'm too cheap to pay 2.99 for a novella. ha.

Cute. Clean. Just what I've come to expect from novellas in this series. :) This is a fun series.

This may well be my favorite of the series!

I didn't really get much of a feel for Regan in previous stories and wasn't sure if I liked her, but turns out I loved her and her quirky sense of humor. I also loved how neither she nor Jesse was looking for or expecting to find someone when it happened anyway, despite their relative indifference. Their story is actually fairly similar to mine and my husband's real life story - minus the camping trip, lol.

Good

I love the wit and fun of this story. The quirky character, the nice, honourable guy, the events that take place, and the great friendships. A nice afternoon read, with a good ending.

A new to me author...

And one I would probably read again. A sweet story. Laugh out loud funny at times. The quirkiness of Regan was adorable. Jesse is incredibly handsome in more ways than one.

I LOVE SWEET, CLEAN ROMANCES!
This one really delivers!

Regan has been hurt before and so she has sealed her heart to love...

...desiring instead to spend her nights curled up with a good book.

But all of her roommates are in love and so they are desperately trying to set Regan up with a blind date.

When Brennan, her roommate's boyfriend, suggests she go out with his cousin, Jesse, she says yes...

After all she has know Jesse for a couple of years, she just never really thought about dating him.

Of course, right now she never really thinks about dating anyone.

One date leads to two and possible a third before Regan starts to panic and pulls way back.

Giving it one more try she and her roommate and the two guys head out for a camping trip.

It is here that things get really interesting...

But in a totally different twist than you would think :)

GREAT creativity from the author!
a SUPERB story!

I really loved this book, it's part of the Sweet & Clean Romance Collection. And just like the name says, the romance is sweet and it's clean, I love that while reading these I have never come across anything that has offended me, or that I wouldn't want our daughters reading over my shoulder. I love the characters, Regan is a lot like me. I love books like she does, and I kind of like to keep to myself and do my own thing. I loved that all of the characters from the other books are back in this one, they're Regan's roommates. It's so fun to see characters that I've loved from other stories moving on with their lives and still getting their happy endings. The plot was great too, and I really liked the ending. Can't wait to read more of these and find out what happens to all of my favorite characters! I read this book fast, my little guy didn't sleep the night I read it and I finished it in less than an hour, this book helped make that hour in the middle of the night more bearable!

Wish it was longer

This was a cute story but I wish it was longer because I felt the romance was rushed for no reason. They go on a few dates, have an adventure, and he proposes. Even most BYU relationships aren't that quick. But the heroine was snarky, the hero sincere, and the other characters intriguing enough to make me want to read their stories.

soooo.....I just don't know

Sooo overall the book was ok but it could have been more! I guess it's my fault for not realizing it was a short story but I needed more plot development. If you enjoy quick and to the point stories enjoy! If not, don't read it!!!!!!!

Clean Read

Super quick, clean read. Not a bad read, but there's just a lot crammed into one day. This probably would have been a slightly more enjoyable (and realistic--at least as far as character development goes) story if the author had made it longer.

3.5 stars. Another story in this series about four roommates who live and work in a small town. This was a sweet story, although the relationship seemed to progress pretty quickly.
