I just started watching the Duck Dynasty show on Netflix this past weekend and I thought these guys were hilarious. When I saw this devotion for children, I thought I would take a look at it and see if kids could really relate to these guys. Well, turns out Willie, Ms. Kay and the rest of the Duck Dynasty clan is able to take stories from their lives and relate them to the Bible, but also relate them to kids. This devotional is good for children between ages 8-11, but it could be used for older or younger depending on where they are at spiritually and how much they love the Duck Dynasty family. I could see an older child loving this devotion because of the wisdom instilled in it, but it seems like it is meant for ages 8-10. That seems to be ideal to me. This devotion has gorgeous illustrations and is written well.

About the Author:

Korie Robertson is a New York Times bestselling author, the wife of Duck Commander® CEO Willie Robertson and star of A&E’s Duck Dynasty. A mother of five, Korie balances family life and her role at Duck Commander with several ventures of her own, including her retail store Duck & Dressing, overseeing licensing for the family’s brands and philanthropic work with a children’s home in the Dominican Republic, Help One Now and adoption and foster care advocacy in Louisiana. Her writing credits include Duck Commander Devotions for Kids, The Women of Duck Commander: Surprising Insights from the Women Behind the Beards About What Makes This Family Work, Faith Commander: Living Five Values from the Parables of Jesus and The Duck Commander Family: How Faith, Family, and Ducks Built a Dynasty.

My Review:

A sweet little devotion for children with over 200 passages completely reliant on Scripture. Korie includes many family stories, events, and situations to make you laugh, smile, and realize that the Lord is taking part of it all. This family lives for God and it shows in every aspect of their lives and we are blessed that they share it all with us. She also gives you points to ponder and think about as well as short and sweet prayers to help your child pray it through. A very touching devotional that should last your child several months. And it is complete with illustrations as well.

Ok, so you have heard of Duck Dynasty by now, unless you’ve had your head in buried in a hole for the last couple of years. Of course, there is controversy over some of their beliefs and… antics.?.? However you feel about them, you must admit that they have done pretty well for themselves. They have turned their little duck call business into an EMPIRE! Si, unsweet tea flavored chapstick? Jase bobble head? Duck Dynasty wine!? Cookies? Sunscreen?! You name it, they’ve stamped it!!

Ok, so they have moved into writing. I suppose if you are good at making duck calls, you are good at writing too…? (; So, with that, Duck Commander Devotions for Kids was born!

Each Page is has a theme and a Scripture verse to go with it.

There are also a lot of cute illustrations and plenty of stories. My son is using it for his devotions that he does on his own. He says I should give it 5 stars (:

I do think it is cute and has plenty of good things and ideas for growing your kids in a Godly way. However, you would need to be a fan of the show for this book to make sense. All of the stories are centered around the individuals in the family, thus making it limited to children that are familiar with and fans of the Robertsons.

Overall, great, cute, and fun little book. So, thanks much, booklookbloggers, for sending this our way! As always, this is my honest review. Here’s to many more!!

This was a really good devotional for my son and I to read through together.
What I loved about the book:
I loved that Korie Robertson & Chrys Howard wrote a little letter to the parents as well as one for the child. It added a personal touch that really made me feel that they wrote the book with other people in mind. They wrote the book inspired. When it was time for bed my son was excited to see what the "Duck Ladies" had to tell him tonight. It was awesome
What my son loved:
My son is 6, and we had to read together but he was able to read some of the devotion himself. It was written in such a way that he was able to actively participate and not just be a bystander. He really seemed to enjoy learning more through this one.
I wish the devotional were longer!

If your family is like ours and many others you've fallen in love with the whole Duck Commander crew. Each week their devotion to God, family and country shine through. They continue to show us that it is okay to be a little crazy, as long as that crazy is directed along the right lines.

Of course if you watch the show you know that Willie is the CEO but his wife Korie is definitely the voice of reason. Korie has teamed up with her momma Chrys to bring you daily devotions that you can share with your kiddos. The target age range is 4-8 but I think your older kids wouldn't mind listening in while you do devotions with the younger set.

Each day's devotion includes a Scripture passage, a fun and relevant story from the Robertson family with an inspirational message, a prayer, and a Duck Commander in Action element. These Duck Commander in Action elements take many forms including jokes that your kiddos will enjoy retelling and outdoor activities that the whole family can participate in.
