Jeanne finally developes her own powers, meaning she doesn't need Finn's help anymore. Go, Jeanne! :)
Marron and Chiaki grow closer and nearly kiss. Some funny moments result out of this. Those two were my OTP when I was maybe 10 or 11 years old. They are still cute as hell.

Die Charaktere sind allesamt authentisch und tiefgründig. Man kann sie auch leicht auseinanderhalten, was den Lesefluss erfreut. Jedem Charakter kommt eine eigene Geschichte zu mit nachvollziehbaren Beweggründen. Sind die Grenzen zwischen schwarz und weiß und Gut und Böse in den ersten beiden Bänden noch sehr klar, verwischen sie zunehmend ab dem 3. Band. Marron etwa, die in der Schule beliebt ist, gute Noten hat und erfolgreich im Sport ist, kämpft tagtäglich mit ihrer Einsamkeit. Auch die extrovertierte Myjako hat es dank ihrer Art nicht immer leicht. Und auch die Welt hinter den Grundengeln und dem Kampf gegen die Dämonen wird zunehmend offen gelegt und wirft dabei eine Menge Fragen auf, die viele Graunuancen zwischen dem Schwarz und Weiß erscheinen lassen.
Band 3 vermittelt zu Beginn den Eindruck, dass das Leben aller Beteiligten einfach weiter geht. Dann wird Chiaki jedoch entführt, von seinem eigenen Vater. Marron will ihm natürlich helfen und erkennt, dass Chiakis Vater von einem Dämon besessen ist. Als Jeanne dringt sie in sein Haus ein und macht eine makabere Entdeckung. Ein Wachsfigurenkabinett mit lebensgroßen Figuren. Dieses ist jedoch noch nicht der Höhepunkt, sondern ein verstörendes Figurenkabinett im Keller. Dort werden lebendige Menschen in einem Art Wachkoma gehalten und in Schaukästen ausgestellt. Die beiden schönen Menschen Chiaki und Jeanne sollen den Höhepunkt bilden. Jeanne ist geschockt. Es gelingt Chiakis Vater sie gefangen zu nehmen und in ein Verlies zu werfen. Miyako und die Polizei sind auch im Haus, bekommen davon jedoch nichts mit. Im Verlies neben Jeanne befindet sich Chiaki, die Arme über seinen Kopf gefesselt, mit jeder Menge Kratzern, zerrissener Kleidung und blutigem Gesicht. Als Jeanne Chiaki entdeckt, ruft sie seinen Namen und bricht aus Schock in Tränen aus, welche sie nicht mehr schafft zu stoppen. Um ihr Weinen zu verbergen, dreht sie sich weg. Plötzlich umarmt Chiaki sie durch die Gitter hindurch und küsst sie auf die Schulter. Jeanne entreist sich ihm und erklärt ihm bitterböse, dass Sindbad nicht ihr Freund, sondern ihr Feind sei, da sie für Gott und er für den Teufel arbeitet. Zeitgleich sagt sie ihm aber auch, dass sie ihm, Chiaki vertraut, was, wie wir bereits wissen, der größte Zuspruch ist, den Marron tätigen kann. In dieser Szene spielt Arina Tanemura mit den Gefühlen der Leser, die Emotionen wechseln von Bild zu Bild und sie zeigt, welch großes Erzähl- und Zeichentalent in ihr steckt. Spätestens bei dieser Szene ist jeder Leser gefangen von der Kraft, die im Manga „Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne“ steckt. Die beiden können sich befreien, der Dämon wird gebannt und langsam aber sicher gestehen sich die beiden ihre Gefühle für einander ein.
Den zweiten großen Kampf gegen das Böse initiiert in diesem Band Miyako. Sie tritt an Jeanne mit einer Bitte heran. Es ist ihr aufgefallen, dass sie Bestohlenen sich nach dem Verschwinden ihrer Bilder anders, positiver benehmen und bittet Jeanne ihren Bruder zu bestehlen. Miyako glaubt durch den Kauf eines Bildes hat sich die Seele ihres Bruders verdunkelt und bitter nun Jeanne dieses Bild zu stehlen und ihrem Bruder zu helfen. Am Ende dieses Diebstahls erzählt Miyako Jeanne, warum sie sie so erbittet jagt. Der Leser weiß dies bereits aus dem Zusatzkapitel von Band 2. Miyako möchte beweise, dass Jeanne nicht ihre beste Freundin Marron ist, der Jeanne angeblich so ähnlich sieht. Ganz verwirrt über dieses Geständnis achtet Jeanne nicht genügend auf ihre Umgebung und wird bei ihrer Rückverwandlung von einem Mann beobachtet. Völlig panisch darüber läuft Marron weg. Nachdem in den Nachrichten keine Meldung dazu auftaucht, glaubt sie, sich doch geirrt zu haben. Plötzlich steht aber genau dieser Mann, Hijiri, als neuer Lehrer ihrer Schule vor ihr. Etwas später rettet er sie auch noch vor einem Sturz und warnt sie dabei vorsichtiger zu sein. Kurz darauf rettet er sie abermals, als sie beim Versuch einen weiteren Dämon zu bannen, ihr Haarband verliert, welches dafür sorgt, dass sie sich rückverwandelt. Hijiri holt Marron rechtzeitig in sein Auto bevor sie jemand am Tatort entdecke kann. Sindbad kam zu spät, da er von Access eine Antwort auf Jeannes Vorwurf, er arbeite für den Teufel verlangt hatte. Sindband sieht gerade noch, wie Marron ins das Auto steigt, wie er auch bereits sah, dass Hijiri ihr kurz zuvor half.
Als Jeanne das Bild von Miyakos Bruder stehlen möchte, muss sie dies zuerst ohne ihre Kreuz und Verwandlung in Jeanne angehen, da sie dies beim Ausspionieren des Hauses von Miyakos Bruder verloren hatte und dieser es an sich nahm. Marron kommt in einer Verkleidung zum Diebstahl. Durch den Dämon wird Jeanne zusammen mit Miyako fast ertränkt. In diesem Moment wünscht sich Marron nichts mehr, als sich in Jeanne zu verwandeln, um ihre beste Freundin retten zu können. Eine göttliche Stimme oder auch jene Jeanne d’Arcs spricht zu ihr, dass sie Fynn nicht benötige, um sich zu verwandeln, da sie die Kraft in sich hat. Tatsächlich schafft sie es, sich auch ohne das Kreuz und Fynn zu verwandeln. Als sie das später nochmals versucht, gelingt es ihr nicht nochmal.
Der Band lässt viele Fragen offen.

In diesem Band lernt man Miyako und Chiaki besser kennen. Man bekommt Einblick in ihre Beweggründe. Bei Chiaki erfährt man einiges aus seiner Kindheit. Das ist das Schöne an dem Mangas von Arina Tanemura. Ihre Charaktere werden von allen Seiten beleuchtet, sie erhalten Tiefe und jeder seine Eigenheiten.

Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne ist mit eine meiner schönsten Kindheitserinnerungen. Ich habe den Anime geliebt und nachdem ich jetzt doch mein Bücherregal um Mangas erweitern wollte, war Jeanne unbedingt Pflicht.
Im zweiten Band habe ich ja schon festgestellt, dass sich die Handlung des Manga eher zusammenquetscht und vieles aus dem Anime weglässt. Es war nicht leicht für mich über diesen Punkt hinwegzukommen, aber es ist Jeanne und ich liebe die Geschichte. Also wage ich den Schritt auch weiterhin nach vorne.
Gut, dass mich Band zwei auf Abweichungen vorbereitet hat, denn im dritten Band gibt es noch viel mehr neue Eindrücke. Tanemura schafft es aber irgendwie nicht so ganz die Geschichte bei mir ankommen zu lassen. Die üblichen Bewegungsabläufe, die es benötigt, damit Jeanne die Dämonen fangen kann, sind nur sehr grob gezeichnet. Auch die Tatsache, dass sich ein neues Bild formt, wenn Jeanne das alte stiehlt, passt nicht so ganz in die Geschichte. Oder bin ich einfach zu streng?
Was mich auch gestört hat war das ständige Hin und Her zwischen Maron und Chiaki. Sindbad ist ihr Feind, aber wenn sie ihn sieht, sieht sie auch Chiaki und das sorgt für mächtig Gefühlschaos.
Auch wenn die Autorin wunderschöne Zeichnungen für sich sprechen lässt, war mir das ewige hin und her einfach zu viel. Sie kommen sich näher, aber alles ist so abrupt dargestellt, was den Dialogen einen leicht nervigen Touch verleihen.

Was zur Hölle soll das werden wenn's fertig ist? ._.
Ich liebe es, wenn Maron und Chiaki zusammen sind oder Jeanne auf Sindbad trifft. Da entfleucht mir automatisch ein "ooooh", deshalb finde ich es einfach schade, wie anders diese Beziehung sich im Manga entwickelt. Bleibt zu hoffen, dass ich meine alte Liebe zu den beiden wieder im nächsten Manga herstellen kann.
Irgendwie ist die Geschichte dadurch sehr holprig erzählt, viel zu schwungvoll und weniger auf die emotionalen Dinge ausgerichtet. Alles wirkt so verändert und "dahingeklatscht", dabei gibt es wirklich wundervolle und stellenweise lustige Szenen. Am besten haben mir Fynn und Accsess gefallen. Diese kleinen Miniausgaben von Engeln treffen genau meinen Humor.
Ich glaube wenn ich den Anime nicht kennen würde, würde ich trotzdem das selbe sagen, weil ich viel auf die Entwicklung der Charaktere wert lege. In diesen Mangas bekomme ich das Gefühl, dass alte Empfindungen weniger wichtig sind und dass das Geschehen nur von Tag zu Tag zählt.

Der dritte Band in dieser Reihe umfasst im Gegensatz zu den ersten zwei Bänden fünf anstatt vier Kapitel.
In diesem Band geht es viel um Chiaki, seine Familie und seine Vergangenheit. Es war schön noch mehr über ihn zu erfahren.
Miyako spielt in diesem Band auch eine ganz besondere Rolle.
Und die neu eingeführte Figur, die am Ende des vorletzten Kapitels eingeführt wird. Ugh... Was für ein arroganter Schmierlappen... -.- Da ich die Serie schon gefühlte 100x gelesen habe, weiß ich natürlich was kommt, dennoch sind mir die Kapitel mit dieser etwas zuwider... :D
Die Geschichte wird immer komplexer und spannender und man möchte einfach so gerne wissen, was mit den ganzen Charakteren passiert. Arina Tanemura hat eine super Geschichte mit ganz tollen Charakteren geschaffen.
Ganz besonders gefallen haben mir auch die Kapitelbilder. Kapitalbild Nummer 10 ist eines meiner Lieblinge. Sehr sexy, aber einfach toll.

Allgemein: Jeanne ist einer meiner liebsten Manga. Er besticht durch eine wunderbare Geschichte, Charaktere zum Einfühlen, Geschehnisse aus dem Alltag als auch fantastische Begebenheiten. Jeanne beinhaltet alles, was ich liebe: Humor, Überraschungen, Gefühle, Tiefgang, Freundschaft, Liebe, Verantwortung und Fantasie.
Band 3: In diesem Band erfährt man mehr über Chaikis Hintergründe und Marron fängt an, sich ihrer Gefühle klar zu werden. Zudem gibt es etliche Menschen, die von Dämonen besessen sind, und man erfährt in Ansätzen, warum Miyako immer bei den Diebstählen mit der Polizeit vor Ort ist. Nach und nach werden Details preisgegeben, die das Bild verdeutlichen, doch noch gibt es viele Geheimnisse.
Band 3: In diesem Band erfährt man mehr über Chaikis Hintergründe und Marron fängt an, sich ihrer Gefühle klar zu werden. Review for complete series
Although seemingly an ordinary girl, Maron lives a double life in which she goes out at night disguised as thief Jeanne to steal paintings. But Jeanne doesn't steal just any paintings - as the reincarnation of Joan of Arc, she only has her eyes set on paintings concealing demons sent by the devil. But it isn't long before the devil sends more than just demons to get in Jeanne's way - the thief Sinbad isn't far behind to try and steal the paintings from right under her nose.
Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne was my first manga and therefore holds an unshakeable place in my heart. I remember the times I watched it on TV, not really knowing what manga or anime was, and just utterly falling in love with Jeanne's violet eyes. It was only by chance that I came across the manga in a bookstore - that was the beginning of my manga collection which now, a decade later, would put most libraries to shame.
Of course, the biased and nostalgic me would say this is the greatest manga out there and it is absolutely flawless. Yet I also believe that there is no such thing as a flawless work. Reading it now is different from reading it years ago, but it is no less enjoyable. It stands out from other magical girl series in many ways!
For one thing, Maron and Jeanne look completely different - it always irks me how most magical girls are never recognized by other characters despite the obvious. Unfortunately, Sinbad can't boast the same, but at least he's got a mask and is found out quite early in the story. The concept of Joan of Arc's reincarnation, the demon-infested paintings, and the character's motivations strike me as much more plausible.
Tanemura's art style has always been a major point in her works - provided you like typical shoujo style. Fortunately, I've always liked the shoujo style and I think Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne is showing the author at her best. Although it isn't as refined as her later works, it has the most heart. The characters are adorable, believable and they feel. You can easily see Tanemura pouring her heart into this series while, in more recent ones, I always feel like she is just trying too hard.
The same holds true for the comedy. The humour in her older works has always been a major plus point for me. It is often very simple - just in the expressions characters make. I could never decide what I liked most about this series; the humour, the art, the characters, the emotion. Not to mention that this series also draws a heavy focus on friendship and family. Even side characters get their moments to shine.
Like any other serires, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne has its weak points and it won't be everyone's cup of tea. Yet I can't find it in my heart to point them out as I hold this series so dear, whatever flaws it holds now come to me as adorable absurdities.

Jeanne macht sich auf den Weg, das Bild zu stehlen, das den Dämonen beherbergt und natürlich, um Chiaki zu helfen.
Gleichzeitig versucht Marron wieder Vertrauen zu Chiaki zu fassen, nachdem dieser sie belogen hat und ihre Gefühle für ihn werden immer stärker.
Im dritten Band der Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne Reihe von Arina Tanemura steigert sich das Tempo der Handlung merklich.

Marron hat erkannt, dass sie in Chiaki verliebt ist, aber er hat sie belogen und ihr Vertrauen missbraucht. Auf der anderen Seite entwickelt auch Chiaki langsam echte Gefühle für Marron.
Doch ihre geheimen Identitäten stehen zwischen ihnen, denn wenn sie als Jeanne und Sindbad unterwegs sind, sind sie Gegner.
Ich mag es, dass die Geschichte immer spannender wird und man auch Stück für Stück mehr über die Charaktere erfährt! Es wird allmählich komplexer und ich mag die Entwicklung der Handlung insgesamt sehr gerne.
Nach dem Ende des dreizehnten Kapitels bin ich sehr gespannt, wie Marrons Geschichte im nächsten Band weitergeht!

Jeanne macht sich auf den Weg, das Bild zu stehlen, das den Dämonen beherbergt und natürlich, um Chiaki zu helfen.
Gleichzeitig versucht Marron wieder Vertrauen zu Chiaki zu fassen, nachdem dieser sie belogen hat und ihre Gefühle für ihn werden immer stärker.

On with my Jeanne Marathon!
Volume 3 starts with a bang! Chiaki get kidnapped by his demon-possessed dad and it’s on Maron to save him. Oh the drama!
I really enjoyed this volume. I‘ll be honest, I barely remembered it this time, except the kidnapped Chiaki plot. I totally forgot Miyako had a brother and for some reason I though Shikaido-sensei or rather Noin (spoiler alert?) would be introduced in the next one, but whatever.
This is definitely the sexiest volume so far, as things between Maron and Chiaki heat up. There is the dungeon scene and all the cute little flirting now and it’s the best. I‘m a preteen again, falling in love with them all over again. This volume also contains THAT chapter cover. You know which one I mean.
We get more Access and Finn which is always a plus point, because Access is the best character in the whole series.
Miyako gets more to do and I‘m still at conflict. Like I get her character and her intentions and I still find her somewhat grating and annoying. Maybe that still comes from watching the anime first all those years ago. She was such a pain there and the first time I read the series I went into it with not liking her and it’s hard to change that.
In other news however, Chiaki’s Dad is still a likeable idiot.
As mentioned before this volume introduces Noin, the most controversial character in the series. He is interesting with one hell of a backstory, but he is also a totally out of line creep.
The art is beautiful as always and the volume has few of my favorite chapter covers, however my least favorite Manga cover of the series. That doesn’t say much though since Arina sets such a high standard when it comes to this.

Das wird Menschen vielleicht überraschen, das zu hören, was gab eine Zeit vor dem Internet und leider habe ich dieses Manga zu einem Zeitpunkt gelesen, wo ich noch nicht so richtig von der Existenz von Seiten im Internet wusste, wo ich Mangas bestellen konnte - deswegen habe ich damals in Thalia in Hamburg, wo ich auch nur zwei oder dreimal im Jahr mir einen großen Stapel von Büchern und Mangas gekauft habe, mir zuerst 1,2 und vier gekauft, damals war drei nicht auf Lager und so habe ich erst einmal dieses Manga ausgelassen. Dementsprechend hat es jetzt nicht so einen großen Platz in meinem Herzen wie die anderen Teile. Ich hab irgendwie dadurch, dass ich dieses Manga erst ausgelassen habe und festgestellt habe, dass man das auch irgendwie auslassen kann, auch wenn man ein paar Sachen nicht so richtig versteht,  Aber es ist tatsächlich für mich ein Manga, zu dem ich tatsächlich dadurch, dass ich zuerst drum rum gelesen habe, nicht so richtig den Weg gefunden habe und auf der anderen Seite eben auch finde, das ist sehr heraussticht durch seine Comedie, die noch mal viel viel stärker ist als in jedem anderen Band. Versteht mich nicht falsch, das Manga ist großartig und es gibt sehr schöne Kapitel in diesem Manga, aber es ist für mich persönlich das schwächste in der Reihe, aber auch nur, weil alle anderen Wände so unglaublich stark sind.

So, di volume sebelumnya diceritakan bahwa Chiaki sebenarnya adalah anak dari pemilik rumah sakit ternama. Ayahnya keliatan muda banget! Sampe pas dia ngaku sebagai kakaknya Chiaki pun Maron percaya. Nah, Chiaki ini ternyata kabur dari rumah demi menjalankan misi sebagai Sinbad, juga sebagai wujud protes gara-gara ayahnya nikah terus. Chiaki mengira ayahnya sudah melupakan ibunya yang telah almarhum.
Di volume ini, ayah Chiaki kemasukan setan sehingga dia menjemput paksa Chiaki dan memasukkannya ke penjara. Maron pun harus menghadapi iblis kuat yang merasuki ayah Chiaki. Setelah berhasil menang, hubungan Maron dengan Chiaki pun jadi semakin intim.
Di volume ini juga, tiba-tiba Miyako minta tolong Maron untuk mencuri lukisan milik kakaknya yang seorang ilmuwan. Sejak membeli lukisan, kakaknya yang tadinya baik jadi aneh. Dia bahkan bikin alat untuk menciptakan gempa bumi. Setelah berhasil menghadapi iblis yang merasuki kakak Miyako, akhirnya Jeanne tahu bahwa Miyako berusaha menangkap dirinya untuk membuktikan pada orang-orang bahwa Jeanne dan Maron bukan orang yang sama.
Dengan keadaan terpukul, Jeanne pun lalu berubah kembali menjadi Maron, tapi ternyata proses transformasinya disaksikan oleh seorang pria yang kebetulan lewat! Kejutannya lagi, pria itu ternyata adalah Hijiri, guru sejarah baru di sekolah Maron. Waduh!

The story is really spicing up! Between the romance that makes my heart quicken, the friendships that are too precious I almost want to cry, and the edge of your seat kind of action sequences every now and then, I have literally no chance to be bored.
I'm not kidding about the romance either, Chiaki and Maron really put me right in my feels, I haven't been this invested in a couple pairing in a while. The way they would do anything for each other, it's just too sweet for words.
I can't forget about the comedic moments though, because they shine so bright. Where else would you see a girl give a boy a chocolate sculpture of herself for Valentine's Day, and say "Eat me up"?? I belly laughed so hard at that lmao.
I've heard people say that this volume, and everything after, differ from the anime. So I'm curious if I'd even like the direction it went in.

So, yeah, I finished this reread and I liked it.
It wasn't perfect, Marron is still a Mary Sue, the relationship with Chiaki is too hasty,
but I like the side character pair and Hijiri, so, I guess, I have at least this going for me.
As it is the last volume I had at home, I don't if and when I'll continue this reread.
We'll see!

El tercer tomo me ha parecido más emocionante e interesante que el primero. Me ha gustado el desarrollo de los personajes y la introducción de nuevos elementos que han renovado mi interés en la trama. Tengo ganas de leerme ya el siguiente volumen.

Arina Tanemura versteht es ihre Leser in den Bann zu ziehen und zu verzaubern. Bereus nicht diese Reihe gekauft und gelesen zu haben. Gehörte auch zu dem Anime, den ich mir als Kind damals angesehen habe. Der Zeichenstil ist ganz besonders und ein Merkmal für Arina Tanemura. Mit dieser Reihe hat man definitiv nichts zu bereuen.

When Chiaki reveals to Maron that everything he ever did or ever said in front of her was a lie, she takes it pretty harshly and tells him she hates him! Now if everything he ever made her think was a lie, why are her tears and her spiteful words making the urge to hold her in his arms swell in his heart...? And is Access and Finn all that they really seem to be, or are they upholding lies in secret from Chiaki and Maron as well?
Ooo, it's getting really good from the first volume! Ariiinaaa-chiiii, you were my favorite author when I was a little dorky thirteen year old, and you're starting to make your way up to my favorite author again! Poor, poor Maron though. I never really understood her before, but quotes from this manga (only the first half of volume three and the first two, since I actually didn't read past the half of this volume until /today/) have kind of stuck in the back of my head for the three or so years since I first started reading it. Now I can finally understand Maron and it only took me three years! Ahahahah!... ==;;a But yeah, I guess my father or mother or whoever actually said it was right when they said that I "have the mind of a twelve or thirteen year old" especially if I can only understand a series like /Jeanne/ when I am sixteen... It's kind of a series more suited for eleven, twelve, thirteen, and fourteen year olds...

Volume three kicks the magical painting-stealing up to a whole new level: Sinbad and Jeanne battle it out with Chiaki's father, Miyako's brother, and a teacher at school. A new teacher named Hijiri sees Jeanne return to Maron, further complicating her identity. The action makes this volume move quickly, though not too much character development seems to happen: the romance between Chiaki and Maron has basically reached its apex; they both have feelings for each other and know the other reciprocates it, yet Maron insists they're enemies and can't (even though she wants to).
The story is still stereotypical and full of tropes. The art is gorgeous, though, and that makes up for the lackluster bits of plot.

This is a good series, even if it has a push-and-go relationship; it is nice to see the character's growth and how their relationship develops. There are a lot of obstacles the characters have to go through in the fantasy that is this story. A lot of it is intertwined with religious figures and beliefs, but at its core, it is a story of friendship and relationships and how one tries to push through, and sometime's it's okay to need help.

I didn't know what to read today so I thought I might as well continue reading KKJ (I bought 4 volumes so far) and...... surprise surprise... I really enjoyed this volume!!! Really really enjoyed! The romantic stuff is really cute and besides, there are the cutiest policemen ever! Hehe, I don't know why, I feel like I'm in a basic school again and reading manga under my desk.. only I had no manga when I was in school, basic or high.. what a shame.. so I must read all the manga I couldn't before. And I'm glad I'm not old enough not to enjoy such cute series as Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne!

This book is sort of romantic, but I still like it a lot. Chiaki is sort of wierd in this book though. And I never knew about Access and Finn! The teacher is strange, though. I also wonder what happens when Chiaki goes home. (If you never read this book I don't think you understand anything I'm saying. So don't bother trying to make sense out of this.) Lol! Well, anyways, it's a great book!

Read on OneManga. I wanted to say "relationship-heavy magical girl fare," but isn't most of it relationship-heavy, now that I think on it? I have to say, I think I am enjoying Chiaki/Kaitou Sinbad more than the Moonlight Knight, hahah.
