A spicy, grumpy sunshine romance between a workaholic and a bubbly optimist determined to make him smile.
What you’ll find:
Grumpy sunshine Small town She has lucky girl syndrome Strangers to (forcibly) friends to lovers Summer romance Only one bed Workplace romance (she’s his assistant) June Taylor has always believed that the universe pushes her in the right direction, even if, at the time, it felt like the end of the world. The universe works in strange ways, and those strange ways always work in her favor.
But when she gets laid off from the job she always thought was her calling, she leans further into all things luck and fate and vows to take every opportunity that the universe offers her. She’s entering her Lucky Girl Summer, finding four-leaf clovers and wishing at 11:11, and knowing it will all work out in the end. When she stumbles into a new job, she thinks it might be working… until she realizes her grumpy new boss is also the man she had a one-night stand with.
Graham Hawthorne is not a man known for getting distracted: has always been laser-focused on his career and nothing else. When work brings him to the small shore town of Seaside Point, where he’s been tasked with opening a beach resort, he assumes it will be the same as always: get in, make the business profitable, then move on to the next location.
It’s just his luck that he would find himself increasingly obsessed with his new bubbly assistant… and even more obsessed with making all of her whimsical dreams come to life.
But lately, his successes have felt hollow, no longer bringing that satisfaction of a job well done. He hopes that his newest challenge, heading the newest expansion of Daydream Resorts in the form of small-scale luxury clubs, will be the thing to snap him out of it
Morgan is a born and raised Jersey girl, living there with her two boys, toddler daughter, and mechanic husband. She’s addicted to iced espresso, barbecue chips, and Starburst jellybeans. She usually has headphones on, listening to some spicy audiobook or Taylor Swift. There is rarely an in between.
Writing has been her calling for as long as she can remember. There’s a framed ‘page one’ of a book she wrote at seven hanging in her childhood home to prove the point. Her entire life she’s crafted stories in her mind, begging to be released but it wasn’t until recently she finally gave them the reigns.
I’m so grateful you’ve agreed to take this journey with me.
Thank you to House of Hearts Lit and Morgan Elizabeth for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Actual rating 4.25 ⭐️
Morgan Elizabeth is one of my favorite authors and I honestly think there isn't something she writes that I don't love. This was sooo good! The way this man worships and loves her is sooo cute and everything I wanted from an MMC.
Thank you Morgan Elizabeth and House of Hearts for giving me this arc!!!!💗💗
I really liked parts of this book, they were adorable and all but from all the Morgan Elizabeth books I read, graham was just not my favorite. Like the things he did were cute in parts, but when I read his pov where he was talking about everything he did he was borderline giving stalker😭 NO CUZ HES 34!!!! He even said something along the lines of ‘Well I didn’t do this so i’m not really and actual stalker’ I hate to break it to you my dude…
I feel like this just made my rating go down alot, even though I really enjoyed the story and all the other characters. The plotline was also something I don’t read often but it was really good and refreshing, so that does make up for the mmc😬
things to know: - one night stand with SURPRISE! her new boss - he’s down bad - she thinks she’s lucky - he makes the “luck” - dual POV - no 3rd act breakup
A man with dimples? My weakness. Graham.. where do I begin? I simply love him. I love a grump so much. And add in the fact that only June can make him smile? Swoon. Head over heels. 😍 Graham was such a softie under his broody act. He would literally do anything to make June smile. It’s the little things, he always tried to make her happy. So cute Him going into the coffee shop every morning to look for June?! Literally omg 😭😭
June, hilarious, I love her and I need her as my best friend asap. I love her antics so much. She literally had me laughing the entire time.
Giddy the the max the entire time, I’m talking blushing, giggling, kicking my feet, all of it. Banter was top notch. The vibes are perfect for the summer and I can’t wait to do a reread on the beach.
Definitely want to pack my bags and move to seaside point ASAP.
Just such a feel good book and I couldn’t have loved it more. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Huge thanks to Morgan Elizabeth and House of hearts for the arc. These are all of my honest thoughts and opinions.
This book was such a fun read! June is known for her constant luck and charm. Now she’s set on having her luckiest summer ever. Graham is a giant grump who is in town to open a new resort and is only ever focused on work. Now that June is working for Graham this summer, she’s determined for them to be friends.
I love when the grump is only soft and happy for her and that’s 100% the case with Graham and June. Graham does absolutely everything in his power to give June her lucky summer and I was swooning for him so hard the whole time. These two are the cutest together and such a fun couple. The perfect edition to the Seaside Point series and the perfect summer read.
It follows the relentlessly positive June, who is on a mission to manifest her luckiest summer yet, and her grumpy new boss, Graham. Watching this ray of sunshine try to break through his serious, work-focused exterior was pure magic. The banter was incredible, and I found myself grinning and kicking my feet through the entire thing.
Their chemistry was truly top tier, but the real highlight was how they balanced each other out. Seeing Graham slowly soften and realize there is more to life than just business was so satisfying. I was absolutely swooning over how "down bad" he was for her; the lengths he went to just to keep her happy and support her dreams were incredibly romantic. It was the perfect blend of spice and genuine, heartwarming sweetness.
I didn't want the story to end because I enjoyed being in the world of Seaside Point so much. It felt like a warm, sunny hug in book form, and the way the characters from other stories popped in made it feel so special.
This is the ultimate beach read, and I already know I’ll be rereading it as soon as I can.

Huge thank you to Morgan Elizabeth & House of Hearts Lit for the ARC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨
THIS MAN 🫨🫨🫨 this man is actually maybe the most perfect specimen to ever walk this fictional worlds 😍📖✨ the things he does, ooooh the acts of service are just BURSTING 🤩
- grumpy x sunshine - small (beach) town - friends to lovers - boss x assistant - one night stand - age gap (26/34) - one bed trope
I am such a lover of all things Morgan Elizabeth and I was so excited for this book! The first in the series stole my heart & this was no different!!
I was obsessed with Graham & June!! Just the best and most lovable characters. He is the grumpy, down bad MMC who will have you absolutely swooning!! June is pure sunshine & positive energy! Together the tension, the chemistry, and the heat!! Just top notch!
I loved the fun beachy vibes of this book & the way these two had me giggling and laughing through the story just made it one I didn’t want to put down! I love the little town of seaside point & I never wanna leave!!
You’re absolutely gonna want to add this for one of your summer reads! Grab a copy & hit the beach for the perfect summer vibes! 🤭
Went ahead and read the last chapter (which I rarely do) and found out this ends in HFN (weeks out and in a relationship). Not in the mood for something like that, so I'm going to pause the book for now. I may or may not pick it up again some other time.
I loved almost every aspect of this!!! I had no issue with him setting everything up to go in her favor but it’s kinda icky that he slept with her knowing she was gonna be his assistant the next day when she had no idea 🥴
Graham… oh I LOVE a grumpy man 😭🖤 and the fact that June is basically the only person who can make him smile?? immediate obsession.
This man was such a softie underneath all the broody energy. The little things he did for June had me fully giggling and kicking my feet the entire book 🥹 Him stopping by the coffee shop every morning hoping to see her??? YEAH I was gone.
And June?? absolutely hilarious. She brought so much energy and chaos in the best way possible and honestly felt like the kind of character you wish was your real-life best friend.
The banter was EVERYTHING. The chemistry, the tension, the beach town vibes… this book was just pure serotonin from beginning to end 😭☀️
✨ tropes ✨ 🌊 Grumpy x sunshine ☀️ Workplace romance 🏖️ Beach town summer vibes 🖤 Down bad MMC 😂 Top-tier banter 🔥 Chemistry + tension 💞 Feel-good romance
This is exactly the kind of romance you want to read on the beach with a cold drink in your hand
At first, I was annoyed by June's obsession with luck but as the story developed and with Graham's sweet gestures, it became a cute part of the story. Graham was a thoughtful, considerate, and loving man and I love to see that. I was nervous of what the conflict might have been but it never materialized into a big conflict, only a tiny one that was immediately dealt with and I loved that.
I’m convinced Morgan Elizabeth could write literally anything and I’d eat it up every single time. I was SO excited for this one because the first book in the series was one of my favorite reads from last year and this one blew my expectations away.
Graham and June had me obsessed from page one. Graham is the grumpy, secretly soft, down horrendous MMC of my dreams and the way that man was gone for June??? I was kicking my feet the entire time. I just love him so much. And June is just sunshine in human form. She’s fun, positive, chaotic in the best way, and balances Graham perfectly. The chemistry between them was INSANE. The tension, the banter, the heat…Morgan really said “here damn” and delivered.
You definitely want to add this to the top of your list for summer reads. overall: 5 spice: 3
tropes: grumpy x sunshine one night stand boss x assistant age gap one bed summer romance beach town
Listen — i am a sucker for a summer romance in the summer months. And this one checked all of my boxes 😩 it’s cute but fun and flirty, fluffy but still handles heavy topics well ANNNDDD she says my and my best friend’s good luck mantra?!? Gtfo. It was meant to be.
June is the cutesy, happy go lucky girl who not only hooks up with a hot stranger but then finds out the next day that he’s her boss in her new job!!!! And of course, he’s super grumpy. But that doesn’t deter her in the slightest 😇
Morgan did it again. I love every single book she puts out so if you’re ready for summer romance, this is a great choice!
-ONS > workplace -she’s lucky (and believes in it) -grumpy x sunshine -forced friends to lovers -opposites attract -he spends hours finding lucky things for her -summer romance
*this is my honest review. I received an eARC in return for my thoughts!
The Morganverse is so fun and cute, I swear I could live there. If there’s one thing you should know about a Morgan Elizabeth novel is it will make you feel like pure sunshine.
Lucky Girl Summer follows June- who after getting fired from her teaching job, decides to let fate decide her next move. Well fate takes her all the way over to Graham, where she finds herself working as his assistant. Graham is buttoned up, broody and a total workaholic and June makes it her goal to show him there’s more to life than work.
Morgan tortured me with this one. I swear I was desperate for more of Graham’s point of view, I needed to know this man’s thoughts. I was not disappointed.
June was so sunshine and rainbows and positive, it was so sweet and I loved how Graham encouraged her to reach for her dreams.
If you are looking for a small town, summer romance that embodies the most delicious grumpy sunshine. This is for you.
June Taylor oozes positivity and is luck personified. As she enters her Lucky Girl Summer, June is on a mission to take every opportunity life throws her way.
As per usual with Morgan’s books, the story starts off with a bang! June walks into the first day of her new job and finds that her boss is none other than the man she had a one-night-stand with.
The female friendships and found family made this such a joy to read! I loved how Seaside Point welcomed Graham into their community without missing a beat 🫶
And speaking of Graham… that man was down BAD. He might have been the grump to June’s sunshine, but Graham stopped at nothing to make her happy 🥹
The tropes — 🩵 small town romance 🩵 grumpy / sunshine 🩵 workplace romance 🩵 only one bed
It’s getting to the point where I almost have a whole shelf dedicated to Morgan Elizabeth books… and I’m not mad about it 😂
Oh my WORD! Every time I think I have a favorite Morgan Elizabeth book, she knocks it out of the park once again! This was such a perfect, fun, summery read! I absolutely adored June and all of her superstitious luck related quirks. She and I are one and the same, because I also live my life by Lady Luck's whims! I loved watching her and Graham fall for each other, especially watching him yearn for her. I'm manifesting my own Lucky Girl Summer and a Graham of my own!!
Has Morgan written such a MMC before?! Ugh I don't want to give too much away but this guy! You think he's one thing. For awhile. But then we get blindsided with how sweet he is. Maybe (ok probably) its just for her. But I wanted to squee with every revelation about what he's done for her.
June Taylor thinks she's just got some good luck. Except when she obviously obviously doesnt because now she doesn't have a job at the school for next year. Or is it really luck pushing her into a new direction she'd never take?
A friend gets her a job working under Graham Hawthorne. Grump extraordinaire. Whos also someone she's met before. And who definitely doesn't want this ray of sunshine who is determined to make him a friend.
This is some back and forth work here! June trys to build a bond with Graham. Graham trying to keep a respectful distance.
June, is so persistent. Like she's not taking no for an answer. Graham just can't say no. She brings him into her world and its just so sweet. Like a baby Fawn learning to walk.
As they get closer, Graham wants the best for June. Can he give her the courage she needs to keep going or does she have it all along?
I just can't get over how sweet it was. I'm sending Morgan my dentist bill.
All the stars!! I always know going in to a Morgan Elizabeth book that I'm going to have a great time, but this one really went beyond what I expected and I'm obsessed.
June is the most adorable, sunny person there is. She dresses so colorful and is constantly trying to find the good in everything. Graham was the ultimate grump and lived his life for progressing at his job and nothing else. But lucky for him and June they meet a couple of random times while he's in town and he ends up being her boss and she's determined to bring him out of his grumpy stupor.
I adored both of these characters! I really related to June in trying to find positives in everything and I loved that she was unapologetically herself. It was so adorable how Graham was secretly so down bad for her and how determined he was to make sure all of her luck came to be. The friend group was such a fun addition, they all welcomed Graham in effortlessly and they all gave me so many laughs. The banter between everyone was so much fun. This one will have you swooning and giggling the whole time. It is the perfect summer read, I may just have to re read it soon because it was so much fun.
Thank you so much House of Heart Lit for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!
“I’m so lucky and everything works out for me.” -June (and now also me)
Taking a page out of June’s book because everything about her mentality and approach to life is incredible. She is sunny and optimistic, colorful and full of such joie de vivre.
And let’s be honest, her entire meet cute with Graham just proves how lucky she truly is because …THAT MAN. Oh my.
Let us all find someone who will search for a four leaf clover and then replant it so we can find it. And truly, that’s the tip of the iceberg with him. He is grumpy and reserved and lives a life that is lacking color and joy until he meets June and together, they are perfect. She makes him want to make all of her dreams come true. The dedication and devotion?! *swoon*
I had the absolute best time reading this book and if you’ve read some of Morgan Elizabeth’s other books, you may see some fun nods. And if you’ve read Maneater, (you’re missing out if you haven’t) there’s a really fun tie-in to the Mavens.
Thank you so much to House of Hearts Lit for the early copy! This is a perfect summer read!
This book was really cute. It was a fun summer beach read. And it just seemed a little too perfect for me. Like there was no real conflict til like 90% and it was resolved in half a chapter. After reading Tourist Trap, which I absolutely devoured, I was super excited to hop into this one but it fell slightly flat for me. I just wanted something that was not as polished if you know what I mean. Like yeah our FMC was having a lucky girl summer, but to have everything just magically work out for her made the plot drag at moments. I needed some conflict and tension to keep me interested.
This was so good!! I loved how Graham believed in june and supported her throughout the book and I also loved how he fell first and also believed in her superstitions and kind of helped her believe that she was lucky and I loved their banter so much and theyre so cute together!! Graham is also a green flag if I've ever seen one!
Read if you love…grumpy x sunshine. Believing everything will work out. Trusting the universe. Art lover. One night stand. He’s her boss. Friends ish to lovers. One bed. He calls her ‘Lady luck’
“I must be the luckiest girl in the world to have a man in my life who gets me the way he does.”
So happy to be back in Seaside point (especially during a UK heatwave) 🌊🐚
I ARC read Tourist trap last year and oh my goodness I was so obsessed with the two main characters, summery vibes, and yet another wonderful world Morgan created. And of course the hermit crabs. So I couldn’t wait to dive into book two in this interconnected series
This is set in the same universe as Tourist trap and follows June, who we met a bit in the last book as she’s Claire’s best friend.
The book cover? Stunning. Characters? Stunning yet again. As a girl who has always wished on shooting stars, favourite time of the day is 11:11 and still knocks on wood the relatable whimsical parts of this book were a joy to read about and I felt very seen. Sometimes when life is so up and down and you feel like anything could happen you have to trust the universe and believe it’ll be okay, eventually and what’s meant to be, will be.
Graham does everything he can to make June’s life better and more lucky and he enjoys every second. Love the yearning and tension between these two. One of my favourite parts that had me grinning like a idiot was when Graham found a four leaf clover and planted it in a field so when June went on her daily clover hunt she’d find it and feel like the luckiest person alive 🥹 freaking adorable. Also three words…Chapter twenty one. One of my favourite endings too!
Lucky Girl Summer was everything I wanted in a summer romance and more. If you're a fan of small-town charm, swoony romance, and all the butterflies that come with a great love story, this book absolutely delivers.
One of my favorite things about this story was the playful "lucky" theme woven throughout the book. I loved following June as she collected all of her lucky finds and put so much faith in the signs she discovered along the way. It added such a fun, unique touch to the story and made June feel even more endearing.
This book also had so many of my favorite tropes, which made it nearly impossible to put down. The chemistry between June and Graham was fantastic from the start, and their relationship felt both sweet and genuine. And can we talk about Graham? He is the ultimate MMC. Supportive, charming, patient, and completely swoon-worthy—he's the kind of book boyfriend that will have readers smiling every time he shows up on the page.
Morgan Elizabeth did a wonderful job balancing romance, humor, heart, and character growth. The story flowed effortlessly, the side characters added so much depth, and the emotional moments hit exactly where they needed to.
If you're looking for a feel-good summer romance filled with charm, luck, and a hero you'll fall head over heels for, Lucky Girl Summer is definitely worth picking up. I loved every minute of it! 💚☘️📚
