When Kitty St. Clair signs up for PackPerfect looking to bring a borrowed pack as her dates to her sister’s high-society bonding ceremony, she expects awkward small talk and a couple of weeks of being quietly humiliated by her family. What she doesn’t expect is to find her mates. Between her sister’s spite, her mother’s cutting charm, and an ex who can’t seem to stay buried in the past, Kitty’s return home becomes a minefield of old wounds. Yet with her pack at her side—steady Bram, gentle Seb, and irreverent Calix—she begins to imagine something she’s never had before: a future that feels like hers.
But every family has its secrets, and every bond its breaking point. By the time the two weeks are over, Kitty will have to decide if she’s strong enough to claim the love that found her—or let her old life swallow her whole.
A tender, slow-burn why-choose romance set against the heat and haunt of Louisiana, where healing means defiance and love means finally coming home. 18+ content
1.75 ⭐ Nothing happens. This book felt like reading snippets from a self help quick quote ebook. Every other line from her alphas was a pearl of temu self help meme wisdom. Also the author regularly forgets whose POV it is, suddenly the person talking is talked about in third person while they are taking in 1st person. It was a mess.. tenses and general continuity need work..it was jarring. Changing her brother's name from alesso to romano back to alessso. Did the author get drafts mixed up. There was zero plot. She was praised and adored just got existing.. The mother and sister were cruel but zero backstory. The ex bf that went off the rails at the end? Zero information on afterwards. I learned that she wore his t-shirt that reached her thighs and hung off one shoulder.. and felt safe with her pack. That's it. This felt like a draft published by accident. With a lot of editing and some story arc, it could be good. The blurb was better than the book. Hate to be so critical. For some reason I didn't DNF this. I should have.
If you want sweet, no conflict in the pact and a little outside conflict then this quick read is ok.
I did like how the guys handled her mental health (not patronizing but perfect). Her brother was fantastic and supportive.
But…it was a bit cheesy. And what’s with the random thing at the end with Eric? I was waiting for the epilogue to explain how Bram faired…I’m glad it wasn’t longer or I probably would’ve dnf’d it tbh.
A fun story, with serious issues within. The characters were engaging and entertaining, I love the interactions between the main male characters with each other as well as with Kitty. The story is emotional with fantastic characters who balance each other. Can't wait to read more.
So this book was good, but I don't think I would read this again. There wear just a couple things that drove me crazy. Her name is kitty? WTH There was a confusing name switch from Alessio to Romano. That mom and sister were so horrible.
