Sixty meters Under is an entertaining, international mystery. Set in Sweden, its characters run from across Europe and Asia to escape WWIII, just to find themselves in new danger from a killer among them. And now there’s no escape!

Eleonora White pulls no punches, combining a quirky cast with an intriguing locale that never becomes claustrophobic. Kudos to anyone who can guess the murderer’s identity. - Dory Smith

Holding off on rating

The author reached out to me and asked me to ARC read this book, so here it is! Since my rating is a little low, I will wait until later to add my star review. 😅

This short book follows the story of Min-Jun, a young man who quits his frustrating barista job, and finds a new gig as a maid. His new client? A suave and rich private detective called Aidan.

This book has some really fun concepts. You’ll get stuff like:
-age gap (9 years)
-male maid in The Dress (and lingerie)
-wealth gap
-slightly forbidden / secret relationship

The CONCEPT of this story was very over the top, and almost like a silly anime. I was genuinely excited to give it a try because of this. Kudos to the author for trying something fun!

Personally, I found the writing quality very much unedited fanfiction level, unfortunately. I also found the depiction of a Korean character to be poorly done.

Though it wasn’t for me, I do think others will still have fun with it!

I am always down for a employee/employer trope. A Piece of Cake did not miss. I overall enjoyed the plot of the story. There is Min-Jun who moved from Korea to the UK to attend school. He has bounced around from job to job and after his last job he decided he needed something with less people. This is where he comes across an ad for a maid. While this isn't something he would normally consider he couldn't pass up trying for the pay. This is where he runs into our other MC Aidan. A playboy through and through. Afraid of commitment Aidan would never be caught having feelings or being in a relationship...that is until he catches eyes on his new maid.

The angst between these too was top notch and seeing them go from a flirty tease to not being able to keep their hands off each other was done so well. While most of the story they were not in any real commitment to each other (which Aidan had me so frustrated with) you could definitely see Aidan's mindset slowly changing.

Final thoughts, this was a great book, and I was captivated the entire time.

We follow Min-Jin, who starts working as Aiden’s housekeeper and quickly finds himself caught in something more complicated than either of them expected. As they blur the lines between professional and personal, they begin to question whether what’s building between them is real or just a fleeting fling.
With a hint of outside drama and quiet, aching pining, their connection slowly deepens in all the ways they’re trying to resist.

Received updated advanced copy from the Author.

I will submit my rating after doing my second reread which I am going through right now.

I like the boss x employee trope. Lingerie theme was awesome! I also really clicked with a foreign mc since I live in a foreign country as well. You can feel the reluctance, the fact that you know you are different from others and will be treated differently. Your looks are different, you sound different, your opportunities are different, your outlook is different. A completely different culture. That all really resonated with me. Min-Jun is a soft but strong character.

I’ll be adding on more about the other mc after my second reread. So far, I do like the book. Things could have been fleshed out a little more but I really enjoyed it.

UPDATE:
Giving this a solid 4 stars because on the whole, I enjoyed it. I still definitely think could have been fleshed out more throughout the whole story. Would have loved another 100 pages or so just to get more feelings in there. More descriptions and details for sure. I wish Min-Jun would have put up for of a fight when he found out he was going to be wearing a maids outfit. Haha! One character just jumped in the story (Cade) so I had no idea if he was an employee, a friend, a friend w/ benefits. It took his second appearance to know what he was. With other characters, nothing happened like Oscar. I was thinking he would be included in something else by the end. Spicy scenes were good but again, wish it was more fleshed out. A little more umph and pizzazz. I want to be able to picture everything in my head to the T.

As for Aiden, he grew on me through the second read. I had to take into account that he probably never had anyone say no to him before so his actions did follow that. He didn’t have any prelude or romancing when he first offered his time to Min-Jun. So that follows. The part with Elena kind of jumped out of nowhere also but I thought it was a great addition as his biological mom and she’s been there watching over him this whole time. And I couldn’t get over him just looking for a bunch of guys that look like Min-Jun when he thought he couldn’t get him. Lol

Nothing to do with the story, some words were either missing or a different word was used but it doesn’t impact the book at all. You still understand the moments. I’m more into what the book made me feel, and I got that. Min-Jun was cute as hell. I find him so adorable. Aiden in the end was really trying his best. I did feel their connection. They were sweet together. And, I really enjoyed this. It’s short so you can finish it in a day. It’s nothing too deep so you won’t get emotional ally exhausted. Just a feel-good book that will make you smile. Appreciate the ARC Ms White and congrats!

ARC Review:

Min-Jun didn’t come to London chasing anything grand — just a degree and a paycheck. After realizing customer service is not his strongest ability, he applies for a position as a maid. The interview with the house manager goes well and Min-Jun is offered the job. There’s just one catch: the uniform. While working Min-Jun is required to wear a female maids dress. Min-Jun agrees, the job is his, and what was supposed to be a quiet, uncomplicated arrangement promptly becomes anything but.

Enter Aidan Wilton — wealthy, magnetic, and carrying the kind of baggage that gets buried under charm and casual encounters. Bisexual and impressed with his new employees behavior, Aidan finds himself increasingly fixated on Min-Jun in ways that blur every professional line in the book. What begins as a power imbalance wrapped in silk and house rules slowly unravels into something neither of them anticipated.

A Piece of Cake leans hard into the boss/employee trope and it delivers. But beneath the undeniable chemistry and the spicy tension that builds between these two men lies a story with more emotional weight than the setup suggests. Aidan’s use of intimacy as armor, and Min-Jun’s quiet adaptability give the narrative surprising texture. The twists land with genuine impact — the kind that make you flip back a few pages just to see what you missed.

Frosting and all, this book is easy to devour in a single sitting.

This book has some of my favorite tropes: age gap, boss/employee, and wealth gap. This had a very promising start with introducing the characters; Minjun used to work at a cafe, but because of bad customers, he was forced to quit due to an altercation. He was an interesting character. As for Aidan, it is shown that he is a playboy and does not shy away from it; he is carrying a lot in his personal life, and it is mentioned throughout the book.

I really wish I could enjoy this story more, but the way once the characters meet and engage in a more intimate way, it's clear that they don’t share much in common, and the fast development in their feelings doesn’t feel very genuine; it really doesn’t feel like they can be in a relationship at all. There is also so much happening at once, and that also prevents other aspects of the book from shining. Their characters lack depth and exploration in certain aspects, and some plot twists lack the impact that they were intended to convey.

If any of the tropes really caught your attention, I suggest still giving it a try, and maybe you can find yourself liking it.

A piece of cake by Elenora White is an MM romance that follows our MC, Min-Jun, and ML Adian. This was a cute and short drama-filled story. It was full of twists and turns that had me guessing for a bit. Unfortunately, there were quite a few problems with grammar and sentence structure throughout the story that brought down my reading experience. Even so, this was still a fun read.

I loved Min-Jun; he was such a sweetheart, who knew his worth and didn't let people walk all over him, which I enjoyed. Adian had his moments that annoyed me, but overall, he was still a fun character. Their relationship was very back and forth, but I still enjoyed reading about them.

As I said, there were a lot of issues with the grammar and sentence structure throughout the book. A few more rounds of editing would have made this story shine a lot more. The ending also felt a bit rushed, unfortunately.

Even though there are flaws, I still enjoyed reading this, and I'm so grateful for receiving an ARC copy of this work!

The story had a lot of interesting tropes that I enjoy.
I feel like it had great potential but just fell a little short of the mark overall for me.

It was an interesting read and I quite liked Min-Jun throughout the story.
Aidan I was not a fan of, honestly.
I get that he has trauma stemming from his childhood but I feel like a lot of his stuff was just unresolved. It didn’t seem like he got the character development he really needed. Just jumped from a to b.

Much of the story felt unfinished or confusing to me. The mother reveal….I enjoyed the twist but it felt a bit awkward. And then not really fully explained why or how etc.
And not telling Min-Jun he loved him until after the wedding even though he knew he felt it earlier felt off for me.

The spicy scenes were good. The tension was there. I enjoyed the instant attraction. I also enjoyed the reunion. The frustration and fighting then making up felt realistic to me.

Overall I would say a 3.5/5 for me.

A Piece of Cake - Eleonora White
4/5✨🌟

* SPOILERS *

I really liked the concept of this story. Min-Jun and Aidan are the two MC’s in this lovely story and I knew from the moment I saw that it was a male maid that I needed more.

I really loved the storyline but I just felt like something was missing. I wasn’t sure if it was the cultural background or just how things were happening too fast.

I did devour the story as I love me a good boss/employee and I love the little bit of angst that we did get in this lovely story. I love how Aidan was able to protect Min-Jun when that same guy wouldn’t leave him alone.

I laughed when Min-Jun lied about having a boyfriend. Too cute. There are a few cute and funny moments that make you want more from these two.

There was a lot to unpack in this story and I felt like as a new author for me, it was pretty good. I can’t help but wonder if there will be more stories from other characters.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Arc Review

Min-Jun Han has just quit his job as a barista, and now needs a new job. He sees an advert for a maid in a large house, he applies and is successful.

Aiden Walton is too busy and rich to look after his own house. He has maids to keep his life in order.

Min-Jun accepts the job, but finds he has to wear a maids uniform. Aiden likes watching him.

I was asked by Eleonora White to arc read this book.
While I liked the idea of the story and it has substance. I personally found it difficult to connect with Aiden. I liked Min-Jun and his vulnerability, but felt he could do so much better than Aiden.

I liked Eleonora’s writing style, but my preference is always duel points of view in the first person.
I will happily read more from this author.

[ARC review]

"I would be just another toy for him. I kind of hoped—wished—he's better than this. ut I'm only deceiving myself with such thoughts."

Formalia

"A Piece of Cake" is a short novel written by Eleonora White in English.

On roughly 220 pages we follow Min-Jun who is a Korean exchange student. After encountering not only impolite customers but also being harassed by one, he decides a barista job is not for him. Needing the money he applies for a maid position, even though he had to wear a maid-dress uniform for the time being.
Upon meeting his employer Aidan, Min-Jun feels an instant attraction towards the slightly older private investigator. Their mutual attraction is faced with complicated feelings on both sides, though.

The dominant tropes are boss/employee, age gap and maid-uniform/lingerie. It also has a bit of a secrecy/taboo trope as both hide their relationship at first. Also, Aidan is quite a bit of a player. Thus, we have a rather classical set of tropes combined with a sexy twist.

With a rather direct writing style the author tells their story from a dual third-person perspective that gives limited insight to the characters thoughts. While the language is appropriate, the story telling is rather rushed. More details, e.g. feelings and thought processes, would have made it much smoother and easier to become fully immersed in this story.

Story development

The plot itself was very interesting to me as I saw great potential for this particular mix of different tropes and problems. However, the story's fast pace felt like reading in staccato. This became most evident when the erotic scenes transitioned to the actual story and vice versa. It quite disrupted the reading flow at first because the plot mainly consists little scenes with their own dramatic moment that reminded me a bit of the style of web novels or theater plays.
Nevertheless, the erotic scenes are hot, although short, and I loved all the twists and ideas.

Main characters

Min-Jun is quite lovely as he is vulnerable and strong. Yet, he has a rather flat character. Hence, it would have been great, had the impact I would have also l loved a more in-depth perspective of his struggle to decipher Aidan's feelings (before and after starting to hook up)—Min-Jun would appeare less like he easily gives in to pleasure this way.

Aidan, however, did not get into my good graces because of his actions.
At first, he just seems lustful as he
While it is fair to present Aidan's unresolved feelings about his childhood as a reason for his abandonment issues, that does not allow him to act this offensive and hurtful—an issue that goes completely unmentioned as if it is acceptable to act this way since Min-Jun does not even take offense in it. This condescending behavior is quite infuriating, Therapy really should have been included here, most of all because .
Furthermore, the transition from just wanting sex to loving Min-Jun is too abrupt.

Side-characters

The side-characters are rather flat but that is fine concerning this novel's short length. The added surprising revelations regarding two of the side-characters were a great idea .

Rating

Overall, there is quite a bit of unused potential in my opinion and the main characters lack depth with one of them being dislikable. In my opinion, it would have been better to turn this into a full-length novel in favor of building tension, making the character developments more seamless, and turning these classical tropes into something really unique. Still, once I was a few pages in and got used to the rather scene-by-scene writing style, I was quite into it and enjoyed reading their story although it did not really feel that much like a love story.
Thus, I rate this novel with three stars.

This one really intrigued me as I like a boss employee romance, and I haven't read one with a male maid before, so colour me interested.
It has a secret relationship, age gap, lots of angst and pining, some miscommunication, and a pretty instant attraction on both sides, which acts out as a messy slow burn with spicy encounters.

Aiden is definitely a playboy, and he comes off very arrogant and used to getting his way, so having Min Jun challenge him and deny him (initially) was fun to see, although it soon switches to Aiden acting out and using alcohol as a coping mechanism.

Min Jun comes off as very sweet and hardworking, and he does stick up for himself even if he does attract red flag people. The male maid outfit and lingerie was a fun angle to explore, although it didn't really address the necessity for his work outfit.

For me the story had great potential with the themes it covered, the conflicts, and the cultural aspects, but it came off as rushed in areas, and I didn't feel the characters develop or connect.
It was frustrating seeing Aiden deal with his anger and rejection by seeing other people too while he pined for Min Jun, and his childhood trauma while it was addressed wasn't really resolved.
There were quite a few dramatic moments which were fun and surprising, but everything seemed to happen too fast for the emotions to really sink in or to connect with the characters.

Overall this was a fast paced mm romance novella exploring some fun tropes, but it would benefit from being longer to add more depth and suspense.

🍰 A Piece of Cake by Eleonora White 🍰

“You have such a delicious cake.”

oh the DRAMAAAAAA! some of the twists that occurred in this book were wild lol but entertaining for sure!

when we first meet Min-Jun, he’s a barista at a little coffee shop and is just trying to better his life after moving from Korea to England. he, unfortunately, is driven to quit due to some asswipe harassing him and has to find a job. while searching, he comes across a ‘MAID WANTED’ ad online and the pay is too good to pass up.

⏩ fast forward a bit, Min-Jun gets the job, but is told he must wear the typical maid dress until they can get him his own attire in. he’s hesitant, but basically is like, ‘okay. it’s only temporary.’

IN COMES AIDEN. the somewhat mysterious boss who takes a special interest in his new male maid. after a few failed attempts of trying to get Min-Jun to bang, he finally succeeds and it’s onnnn like donkey konnng. 😏

listen, i had such mixed feelings about Aiden, mainly because i wanted to protect Min-Jun with all of my heart and soul. liiiiike, Aiden def thought with his 🍆 throughout most of the book, though Min-Jun didn’t mind when that 🍆 was in his 🍑. SORRY 🤭

Min-Jun was precious and didn’t deserve what happened to him but HE’S OKAY thats all that matters 😅

some tidbits:
🍰 boss/employee
🍰 age gap
🍰 food play (cake) 🎂
🍰 male lingerie
🍰 from playboy to ‘i only want you’
🍰 lots of spice
🍰 ANGST‼️

A Piece of Cake had a story and concept that genuinely liked and I found myself interested from the beginning. Despite a few elements that didn’t fully land for me, I stayed engaged throughout and read the book all the way through.

I liked the idea behind the story, but the execution didn’t always match its potential. I would have liked a bit more polish and depth. The writing felt uneven at times, some areas could have been more fully developed, and there were moments where the characters’ reactions didn’t really make complete sense.

The writing style has a fan-fiction influenced feel, which may appeal to readers who enjoy emotionally driven, informal storytelling.

Overall, I’m glad I gave this book a chance and appreciated the opportunity to read it. While it didn’t completely click for me, I did enjoy the story itself and stayed invested until the end. I feel like this could be an author I will really enjoy as her writing continues to grow and develop.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a good short, spicy, and surprisingly chaotic (in a good way) story. I quite literally ate this book up like a piece of cake!!!! (pun intended 🍰).

The story follows Min-Jun who happens upon a job opening for a maid position at a private residence. Desperate for money, he applies for the job. Little did Min-Jun know that his employer, Mr. Aidan Wilton, is a sinfully handsome as hell detective. However, Aidan doesn't seem interested in anything serious. But as secret looks and words are exchanged, the line between boss and employee starts to blurr.

I was honestly surprised with the amount of spice and plot that was packed into this book. Let me tell you, the last couple of chapters had my heart racing 💓 🏁 The character and plot development was great....... and I just want to note that I freakin LOVE my baby boy, Min-Jun🫰🏼

This book was very promising, and had some elements I thoroughly enjoyed, but it was a little bit lacking in parts where I thought the story could have been developed a bit more. Towards the end it felt like there were several major moments happening which we didn’t quite get to explore as much as I’d have liked. That being said, the progression of the story was good.

The maid/employee trope was interesting, and I liked how Min-Jun’s relationship with Aidan started. But I ping ponged between liking Min-Jun and finding him a tad annoying, and Aidan’s character lacked a bit of substance.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I would definitely them again.

Brilliant build up of the characters, leaving you in the correct amount of suspence and not lingering too long on the flowery info. This was a pre-publication issue and had a few typos so I hope some proof readers are on the case.
It was an easy read, with some low/mild angst. Very hot steamy sexy times which I found to be very well scripted. I read in 3 sittings about 4 hours in total.

Both MC's are of age but one is older. Seen as an authority figure (employee/employer). Enemies to lovers. With a nice little plot twist and a HEA for all main characters.

I will definitely be looking out for more of E, White in the future!

This short story features Min Jun, who works as a barista but quits his job. While looking for a new one, she comes across a job posting for a maid. His boss, Aiden, is a grumpy guy with a lot of unresolved issues.

It's interesting because of the lingerie and the maid's dress that Min Jun has to wear. Aiden's character is well-developed psychologically, though he could use a bit more depth.

I would definitely like to keep reading the author's future books to see how her writing evolves.

First off, thank you to the author for the arc copy 🫶🏻

A Piece of Cake is a short spicy romance that follows Min-Jun, who takes a job as a male maid for Aiden, a wealthier, older private investigator.

Overall, it wasn’t a bad read. I really loved the concept and tropes, but the story felt a tad underdeveloped.

A piece of cake is about a man (Min-Jun)who got a job as a maid working for a private investigator named Aiden. I really liked the concept of this book, it’s an age gap, he is my boss trope. I will say I had a hard time reading it at certain points just cause I felt like it fell short on some details and would move fast/ skip over spots that could use something more. Overall it’s was a cute read and I can see a lot of people enjoying it.
