This is a fast-paced, fast burn dark romance. There is no skimping out on the DARK. The format is easy to follow and the chapters are short. I’m a short chapter girly🤷🏽♀️. In other words, I couldn’t put this dirty little book down. Devoured in less than 24 hours. Loved the mafia vibes. It ends with a HEA and no cliffhanger which is exactly what I needed.
The spice is up there. There are heavy elements of sub/dom and degradation. This may not be for everyone. I for one, am not everyone and thought it was 🔥!!!
Overall, it was a super easy read and I will definitely be checking out more titles by this author. Thank you E.M. Rose for this ARC!!

A solid 4.25 for me. This was a shorter, fast paced, heavily spicy dark romance that deliveredddd.
It starts out in a lot of the text book dark romance ways that most of us love (iykyk), which I didn’t hate. There’s a bit too much use of the name kitten but I’m gonna let it slide because the sadist/masochist, dom/sub dynamic between the FMC and MMC is 🔥. A teeeny miscommunication trope but it was tolerable. It was easy to cruise through this book.

This is not a bad book per se. This isn't great book either.
Let me explain properly. If you are someone who is dipping her toes in dark romance and in the initial phase this is the perfect book recommendation. This book shows elements of BDSM, fear play 🫦, dominance submission, with a story of two people meeting again in between.
It has everything in bite site.
If you are interested in any of these things but don't want full commitment this is perfect book.

Savage Love completely consumed me from the very first chapter. Between the second-chance romance, marriage of convenience, forced proximity, and emotional tension, I was hooked from start to finish and couldn't put it down.
Mia and Killian's story begins with a reunion that is anything but sweet. After Mia disappeared from Killian's life without explanation, she left him heartbroken and furious. Two years later, they're suddenly back in each other's orbit, carrying all the unresolved feelings, hurt, and questions that neither of them has managed to let go of. Their chemistry is immediate, intense, and impossible to ignore.
What I loved most about this book was how layered their relationship felt. Beneath the anger and resentment, it's obvious neither of them ever truly moved on. Every conversation is packed with tension, longing, and the kind of emotional history that makes second-chance romances so addictive. Watching their fake relationship slowly evolve into something real had me smiling, stressed, and swooning all at once.
Killian Savage was everything I wanted in a dark romance hero. He's possessive, dominant, protective, and completely obsessed with Mia, but there's also a softer side beneath all those sharp edges. The moments with his family, especially his younger brother, added depth to his character and made me love him even more. He's the kind of man who would burn the world down for the woman he loves, and honestly, I'm always here for that energy.
Mia was equally compelling. She's strong, resilient, and carrying the weight of a painful past that has shaped every decision she's made. Even when she's scared, she refuses to stop fighting. I loved her determination and how she challenged Killian every step of the way. She wasn't willing to make things easy for him, and that made their dynamic even more entertaining.
The tension between these two was absolutely incredible. The banter, the unresolved feelings, the jealousy, the possessiveness, all of it worked together perfectly. Every interaction felt charged with emotion, and when they finally started letting their walls down, I was completely invested.

First of all, E.M. Rose is not only an incredibly talented author, she is such a genuine and beautiful soul. She has become a dear friend of mine, someone who is always ready to chat, laugh, and hype you up even on the wildest, most chaotic days. Watching her pour her heart into this story and then seeing it come to life like this makes me so proud I could burst.
Now let’s talk about Mia and Killian.
This book delivers everything. Lovers to enemies and then back again in the most tension filled, emotionally charged way. There is revenge energy simmering beneath the surface, second chances that feel hard earned, and that delicious forced proximity that keeps you flipping pages at an unhealthy speed. The mafia adjacent vibes add that edge of danger, and the marriage of convenience element only raises the stakes.
Killian is possessive in that touch her and die way that makes you gasp and swoon at the same time. But what makes him unforgettable is the contrast. Their history together is filled with unresolved feelings and pain, and when circumstances force them back into each other’s lives, neither of them can ignore the emotions that never truly went away. Watching them navigate that tension and slowly rediscover their connection was both heartbreaking and beautiful.
Killian is exactly the kind of character dark romance readers love. Protective, intense, and deeply loyal, he carries a fierce devotion for Mia even when he’s struggling to understand his own feelings. One line in particular perfectly captures his character:

This author is definitely becoming one of my favorite authors cause her books are just everything each book and storyline pulls me into the book like no other, killian and Mia love story was just amazing they were so meant to be I'm so glad everything worked out for my Shaylas cause they deserve it real bad. I love me a good second chance romance and this was no different. Their story is angsty, emotions, messiness and complicated but I still couldn't get enough of these two together cause they definitely belong together, both characters are complicated people but you can still tell they never hated each other and would do anything for one another. I can't wait to see more of the savage family in the future cause they were definitely amazing.
“Killian makes me feel so safe, so loved. I truly never knew before I met him that a person could feel like home, but that’s how I feel when I’m with him. He’s my person. My safety, my security, my everything. I’ve never loved anyone like I love him, and I never will. Killian Savage is it for me. And even though our story started off rocky, and we had so many trials and tribulations we had to face along the way, I wouldn’t change any of it.”

This author is definitely becoming one of my favorite authors cause her books are just everything each book and storyline pulls me into the book like no other, killian and Mia love story was just amazing they were so meant to be I'm so glad everything worked out for my Shaylas cause they deserve it real bad. I love me a good second chance romance and this was no different. Their story is angsty, emotions, messiness and complicated but I still couldn't get enough of these two together cause they definitely belong together, both characters are complicated people but you can still tell they never hated each other and would do anything for one another. I can't wait to see more of the savage family in the future cause they were definitely amazing.

This was a tension filled quick read.
I wouldn't classify this as a dark romance just a slight enemies to lovers.
Mia is on the run from her past and Killian is someone she met while on the run and fell in love with.
When they meet again it is not under great circumstances and Killian never stopped thinking about Mia.
The sparks fly between these two and the both have the same need for one another that they can't fight.
The pacing of the book was great and there were no drag ons to make you want to put the book down. I would have loved to have a little bit more of the danger aspect just to give more length to the story - but that is a personal preference.
I loved reading about how Mia and Killian kept trying to resist one another but they couldn't fight what their hearts wanted.
Overall a great read and it can be read in a few hours.

Ok Besties… I need to revise my energy real quick because while "Savage Love" has its moments of tension, this one leans way more light, fun, and swoony... like dark-ish... and I loved that for us. 😌
From chapter one, I was hooked. Mia and Killian’s reunion? Messy, petty, and giving top-tier “we absolutely still have feelings but refuse to admit it” energy. And Killian? Sir… the attitude was strong at first. I wanted to humble him just a little. But then his backstory crept in, and seeing his softer side... especially with his brother... had me melting. Like okay… I forgive you (a little).😏
The marriage of convenience + forced proximity combo? Enjoyed It. Watching their fake relationship slowly blur into something real gave all the butterflies. And that “I hate you but I still love you” trope? Ate. Every. Time.
What really sealed it for me though was the found family. This Briarwood crew just keeps getting better, and the dynamics feel so warm and addictive.😍

The writing flowed so naturally and made it impossible to put down. I laughed, stressed, swooned, and honestly did not want the story to end. The author did an amazing job creating a world that felt immersive and addictive while still giving the characters depth and heart.
If you love emotional moments, incredible chemistry, and a story that keeps you hooked until the very last page, this is definitely a must read. Easily a 5 star read for me and I will absolutely be reading more from this author.

I loved their back story and getting to see them overcome their issues together. And the spice, so good, as expected.
