Savage Oaths #12

His Forbidden Bride

She was sent to kill him.

Vivienne of Valdris has been a weapon since she was nine years old. Trained by her father's spymaster in poisons, seduction, and the art of the perfect kill, she has never failed a mission. Now she's been given her most important assignment yet: marry the orc ambassador and end his life on their wedding night. One drop of poison. One dead diplomat. One kingdom saved.

Simple. Clean. Exactly what she was built for.

But Ambassador Torvak is nothing she was trained to expect.

He doesn't leer. Doesn't posture. Doesn't treat her like a prize or a pawn. He gives her books instead of jewels. Replaces the foods she can't eat without being asked. Argues trade policy with her like she's his equal and listens—actually listens—when she speaks. He looks at her with those golden eyes and sees something no one else has ever bothered to look for: the woman underneath the weapon.

And he sleeps beside her every night knowing exactly what she is.

Because Torvak has a secret of his own. He knew what she was before the wedding. Before the courtship. Before she ever descended that staircase in green silk with a vial of poison hidden against her ribs. He married her anyway—gambling his life on the belief that a woman sharpened into a blade could still choose not to cut.

Now the spymaster is demanding results. A second assassin is already in position. And Viv is running out of time to decide what she is: the weapon her father made, or the woman Torvak sees when no one else is watching.

His Forbidden Bride is a monster fantasy romance featuring a morally grey heroine, a devastatingly patient orc hero, an "he knew all along" reveal, blood-bonding rituals, and explicit scenes. This is Book Twelve in the Savage Oaths series and can be read as a standalone.

Overall, good book

The story itself is definitely 4 stars, but there's a few glaring issues that are hard to overlook. Not going to spoil it, it's worth reading. Enjoy
