Potions, Pirates & Pie, 4th story in the Tales from the Tavern series
This is such a fun and cozy read. Turning all her pirate fantasies into reality, FMC Cali agrees to help Bonnie-One-Eye, notorious pirate captain of The Cruel Mistress, in finding her Jolly boat that has been stolen. While Cali is a little nervous, as pantheri aren't super fond of water, she agrees, as she is a little lost since settling in Wayside, and feels the call of adventure. With her dwarf friend Thrain, and an unexpected stowaway coming along, this trip should prove to be one of a kind.
I think Cali is brave for agreeing to go on this quest, but also it does sound fun, I mean how often are you given the chance to go sail on a pirate ship!? Not only that, but Cali gets to sail with a notorious pirate captain, an all female crew, and one of the most beautiful ships she has ever seen. As the crew make their way to find the stolen jolly boat, Cali learns more about the reasoning behind this quest, more about herself, and becomes just as passionate about recovering the jolly boat as the crew.
All the characters in this story are just perfect! I especially love Bramble the raccoon, who fits right in with Marvella the chef. Thrain is hilarious, being the only male on the ship, has to do his best to make sure he is not thrown overboard. The adventure for Cali begins the second she steps on deck, with tales of the sea creatures, and mysterious secret islands, she is not sure what she signed up for. There are of course mermaids, and sirens, each part of the voyage to find the jolly boat. Cali proves to be quite an asset on the journey, and enjoys doing her part as crow's nest lookout. Even I felt like I was experiencing my own pirate adventure alongside Cali, with the descriptions of the food, and each chapter bringing a new experience.
Not only does Cali assist Bonnie in this voyage, but she also finally finds what she has been looking for, in more ways than one. With a very slow burn romance, along with so much excitement at every turn, you won't be able to put this one down!

July 24, 2026Cali has been reading pirate romance's ever since she got to Wayside, and now she has a chance to explore the pirate lifestyle herself. Our favorite Pantheri has been a bit restless in the village, so when One-Eyed Bonnie bursts into town looking for information on the Hellkins that had been sent to Eldu, she's more than happy to join the crew when volunteered. What she doesn't know is that the Cruel Mistress has secrets of her own that Cali had never expected from her reading.
It feels so good to be back at the Tusk and Tails tavern exploring the life of another of our wonderful crew. Not only do we get a larger look into Cali, we also get to see Thrain and Bramble get some time in the spotlight. And as only T L Stone can do, we expand the crew from the confines of the village to the wide open sea, and find more family. Exploring threads of lost love, new adventure, and a few secrets known only to mermaids and sirens, join us for a new tale that will be sure to keep you captivated until the end.

This is another lovely cosy fantasy, and although it wasn’t quite like the others I still enjoyed reading it.
One thing I wasn’t expecting was how much I’d miss Wayside. Leaving the village and most of the characters I’d grown attached to, gave me a genuine sense of homesickness.
The book takes the story in a new direction, right onboard a sentient pirate ship with an all female crew. I enjoyed getting to go on a little adventure with Cali, even if I found myself wishing we could spend just a little longer back in Wayside.
Overall, this was a fun, heartwarming story with all the cosy vibes of the previous books. It’s definitely worth reading, I just have a soft spot for Wayside, it feels like home.

I absolutely loved Potions, Pirates and Pie by TL Stone! I am a big fan of this series and this latest story is another winner! The cozy vibes and wonderful characters we have come to love were all present. The author also introduced a new hero, a pirate captain called Bonnie One-Eye.
Bonnie and her all female crew lead two of the tavern regulars, and Wayside residents, on an unforgettable journey. While this is a bit of a twist in the tavern series the charm of the village, the love of baked goods and the treasure that is home is all there.
This continues to be my favorite cozy fantasy series. I highly recommend!

I received an ARC for Potions, Pirates & Pie, and I am leaving my honest review. Thank you, T.L. Stone for sending me the ARC for your wonderfully whimsical story. I thrive off cozy fantasy like you wouldn’t believe. There is something about the call of a low-stakes adventure in a world of magic that draws me in every time, like sirens calling sailors to the shore (but make it fun and cosy). This tale was no different. There were pirates sailing the high seas in an all-female crew, an adorable racoon that helps bake the most delicious sweet treats that I am desperate to try, and a collection of loveable characters to take your hand and guide you through this story.

☾ What a charming and lovely book this was. There is so much joy and hope that oozes from these pages that acts as gentle waves rocking you back and forth to the cosiest slumber of your life. This book makes me so sad that I get seasick because I would join this all-female crew so fast. Bonnie captivated me from the start. I cannot blame Cali for being drawn to her, because put me in front of a commanding and alluring ship captain, with a sick eyepatch, and I would also be a goner. I won’t spoil it, but Bonnie’s story is full of legacy and love for her crew and family. What started as a love for the high seas falls into a quiet longing for something different, something more. This story speaks to the fact that just because you may be good at something, doesn’t mean that something is good for you. I think a lot of us can relate to that, and I think a lot of us will feel seen in Potions, Pirates & Pie.
☾ Cali’s story was so so cute! The way Cali yearns is enough to make my heart hurt for how soft, gentle but everlasting her love is. You would consider yourself very lucky indeed to be at the end of Cali’s affections. I love her journey through this story. She travels away from the adorable village of Wayside, and embarks not only on an expedition to help Bonnie retrieve her stolen boat, but back to herself as well. She learns a lot about who she truly is and what she has always longed for. Marvella was one of my personal favourite characters, and I imagine I could have spent hours helping her make delicious treats. All the characters in Potions, Pirates & Pie were heart achingly lovely. Well, maybe not ALL, but we all need villains. The word “villain” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here, as the antagonists are more of a slight nuisance, but this in of itself was entertaining and fun. There is a lot of heart to be found in these characters and these pages.
☾ My enjoyment was only inhibited slightly by the fact I didn’t know who some of these characters were. This is my issue and has nothing to do with Potions, Pirates & Pie itself. I will endeavour to go back and read the previous instalments, as I did love the warm and cosy themes. This book does work as a standalone as we do venture away from Wayside and its inhabitants, but whilst we were there I felt slightly lost, as I wasn’t familiar with the characters. I view this as a positive overall, as the book was sweet enough that I want to dive deeper into the lore. Potions, Pirates & Pie is a book that will be enjoyed by lovers of cosy fantasy all around. Its themes of found family and finding what makes your heart sing are beautiful. Prepare yourself though, make sure you have a delicious snack in hand whilst you read this, as all the wonderful descriptions of tasty treats will make you SO hungry!

Thank you to T.L. Stone for sending me this ARC. I really enjoyed the other books in the Tales from the Tavern series and was very excited to read the next installment.
Overall I really enjoyed reading Potions, Pirates and Pie. I loved being able to learn more about Cali and get to see more sides of the pantheri archer and her interactions with Thrain as they both searched to find their purpose as well as look for redemption. Add an adorable baking raccoon to the mix and you can't really complain about this cozy adventure story.
The book was a bit slower for me in the beginning but managed to find its pacing more about halfway through the book. Then I was thoroughly invested in the world of pirates that was unfolding while seeing how Cali and Thrain grew as characters. Plus I really enjoyed the diverse crew of The Cruel Mistress and how it helped Cali to think beyond the romance books she loved so much and instead see that not everything was as she expected and instead needed to learn to trust and have an open mind to really see others for who the are really.
The change in setting also felt right for her journey, not only because of her love of pirates and adventure but also to help her be able to actually understand what she had gained in Wayside and finally be able to come to terms with not only the restlessness she had been feeling for so long but also her past that had been keeping her from being able to move on and really start living her life.
Definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys cozy fantasies and loves a story about friendship, loyalty and personal growth. Plus getting more interactions with Bramble was a great bonus.

I came across this series not long ago and read all the previous books in 3 days. I love the small village setting, diverse characters, touches of magic and fantasy, found family, and, of course, the baking. I enjoyed the books with my own cup of iced chai or Bengal Spice tea (like chai without the black tea) while sitting on the back porch under the umbrella. I felt like part of the Wayside family and wasn’t quite sure how I’d like the story stepping out of the village.
Turns out I was going on a fantastical adventure, too! I enjoyed getting to know Cali more. She is such a genuine character and I love that she is open to possibilities and goodness in the world. My unexpected favorite was The Cruel Mistress and I loved how they communicated together. I spent a lot of time in my garden this summer and it made me feel the way I feel when I talk to my plants and puppy. :) It’s too hot to bake right now, but look forward to trying out the recipes included in the book.
I was looking for a feel good escape from the real world. I found a fantasy world full of friendship, characters who embraced each other’s diversity and gifts, and just enough fantasy adventure to fuel my imagination. I definitely recommend this book…and all others in this series. I’m a big Hobbit and LOTR fan, so this cozy take was right up my alley.

Every story also includes a mouth-watering recipe to make at home! 𝘗𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴, 𝘗𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 & 𝘗𝘪𝘦 had all of these elements, along with something entirely new: a journey outside of Wayside.

Let's start with what brought me here: a baking raccoon. I mean...seriously, a baking raccoon!
Toss in a vibrant, sentient ship, baking with a pirate crew, and a quest for a jolly boat (plus self discovery, most importantly), and you have Potions, Pirates & Pie. I am primarily a horror reader but I absolutely adore cozy fantasy as a palate cleanser, and this did not disappoint.
Although this is book 4 in a series, I found that the author did a great job bringing me up to speed just enough with the characters in this world. This book follows Cali, Thrain, and Bramble (the freaking baking raccoon) on their journey with Bonnie One Eye and her crew aboard the Cruel Mistress. I loved getting to know everyone and watch as their relationships unfolded.
While this book was mostly cozy and low stakes, I did love the different dangers encountered at sea with the mermaids and sirens. It balanced out the many calmer character interactions and food-related scenes in a way that made this book offer a bit of adventure and comfort combined. If you enjoyed Legends & Lattes and Can't Spell Treason Without Tea, you cannot go wrong with this series. 5/5, and I cannot wait to read the other 3 books (plus, there's a 5th in the works - yay!).

This book follows Cali, Thrain, and Bramble (the freaking baking raccoon) on their journey with Bonnie One Eye and her crew aboard the Cruel Mistress. I loved getting to know everyone and watch as their relationships unfolded.
While this book was mostly cozy and low stakes, I did love the different dangers encountered at sea with the mermaids and sirens. It balanced out the many calmer character interactions and food-related scenes in a way that made this book offer a bit of adventure and comfort combined. If you enjoyed Legends & Lattes and Can't Spell Treason Without Tea, you cannot go wrong with this series. 5/5, and I cannot wait to read the other 3 books (plus, there's a 5th in the works - yay!).

All in all, this was a cute, fun read, but I would definitely NOT recommend reading it as a standalone. Read the rest of the series first.

I absolutely loved this book! Give me a cozy fantasy with pirates, adorable critters, and an unforgettable adventure, and I'm completely sold. From the very first chapter, I couldn't put it down because I had to see where the journey would take the crew next.
One of my favorite parts was the incredible cast of characters. An all-woman pirate crew? Yes, please! A sentient boat with plenty of sass? Even better! Potions, Pirates, & Pies in book 4 in this series and it is just as amazing as the rest. Each book is about a different inhabitant of the Village of Wayside. With the story continuing from book to book.
This book follows Cali who is happy for the love and happiness her friends and family have found in Wayside however she is still looking for something.
I have loved Cali in all the books so I was so excited to get a book with her story. I admire her character dor taking on the task of hunting down a hellin that had tricked her while braving the seas on a pirate ship when she isn't a fan of water. Add a food happy dwaft, a racoon with a penchant for baking, and an all female crew full of all sorts of creatures along with a One Eye Pirate captain, and this book is a hallmark movie meets a rom-com meets girls night giggles.
While I have loved all of these books, Cali's story may just be my favorite.

Potions, Pirates & Pie is my favorite of Stone's books yet! I've loved this series from the beginning, but this book especially stood out. Stone's writing just keeps getting better and better, and this book is a true testament to her storytelling ability. Cali's been one of my favorite characters from the start of the series, and I was so excited to get her book. Her character hits home, as she's also such an avid reader. Honestly, all of the characters in this series are wonderful, even the side characters! I loved getting to know the crew of the Cruel Mistress, especially Bonnie and Gert. I want Gert's story!!!
My only real caviat is that I wish we would have gotten more romance between Cali & Bonnie. I get that the book is a slow burn, and it's a fantastic slow burn, but I wished for more on that end. This aside, Potions, Pirates & Pie is a wonderful cozy fantasy and I loved every minute of it. Thank you T.L. Potions, Pirates & Pie was a fun addition to the Tales from the Tavern series. I liked getting Cali’s story and seeing her wrestle with wanting adventure while also having a home and people who matter to her. The mix of pirates, pastries, found family, and magical creatures worked well together and fit the feel of the series.
The tavern setting is still a big part of what makes these books enjoyable, and I liked the focus on relationships and figuring out where you belong. The romance was a good addition, and the pirate storyline brought some extra interest while still keeping the story focused on the characters. A good pick for anyone looking for a lighter fantasy read with friendship, baked goods, and a little adventure.

Love this cozy romantic fantasy series that follows the unique crew of the Tusk & Tail Tavern. This is the story of Cali, a pantheri (unique panther/humanoid creature) archer and Bonnie One-Eye, a pirate and how a very low stakes adventure to find a jolly boat leads to Cali finding her place. Wayside is such a lovely small town with fascinating people and quintessential found family. I love ever story that takes place here.

Thank you so much to the author for an eARC! I have been waiting for this installment in the series. I definitely missed the cozy vibes and this was a perfect cozy, summer adventure. I like that the characters got out of Wayside a bit and there were some new places and characters introduced. I definitely think the series needed that.
I’m glad we got to learn more about Cali and her past as she’s definitely been the character we know the least about. I also really enjoyed her friendship evolution with Thrain, and I always love an animal companion so the inclusion of Bramble on this adventure was great. I’m excited for the next adventure!

Four and a Half Stars - I think this book would be more appreciated having read at least one other book in this series to be able to easily follow the characters and their past experiences. However, this story is a bit different than the others at it takes place away from the quaint village of Wayside. Cali, who is enamoured of pirate romance novels, embarks on her own pirate adventure and comes away with more than she bargained for. The angst in this story is relatively low, but the entertainment value is high.

The tales from this series is around Cali & Thrain. A stranger arrives at the Tusk & Tails and this now starts what is to become an adventure that takes both Cali and Thrain away from wayside for a short while for adventures on the high seas hunting for a stolen item and the Helikins. Really enjoyable cozy mystery read. It’s a great addition to the series.
