Burn is a Dark, Stalker x Stalker, Enemies-to-Lovers romance, featuring a psychopath cop hunting the vigilante who's eliminating criminals from his city.
Knox Being a lieutenant is the perfect profession that sates the never-ending hunger in my soul to hunt. To chase. To destroy. But somebody is stealing my prey. Somebody is cleaning up my streets and having the fun that I am supposed to have. But no more. When I finally come face-to-face with the vigilantes who call themselves the Wildcats, I know I’ll ruin them. Especially the 5’3” little criminal in the panther mask who makes the mistake of saving my life. I am going to hunt her down and show her what happens when she steals from me. And she only adds fuel to the fire when she fights back. It's game on, little criminal.
Tara Code name: Shadow Panther Five years ago, I survived a brutal acid attack that left half my face covered in scars. Day after day, I picked myself up until I became vengeance personified. Until I became a Wildcat. The Wildcats are my ride or die. My partners in crime. My best friends. And if Lieutenant Knox thinks he can catch us, he is wrong. I will destroy him before he can even think about arresting any of the Wildcats. He decided to start this game with me, but I will be the one to end it. He stalks me; I stalk back. He breaks into my apartment; I break into his precinct. He thinks he can intimidate me? Joke’s on him because his games excite me. So what if he's the first man after the attack who looks at me with a burning desire in his eyes? So what if his obsession with me breaks down every wall I’ve erected around my heart? How can I ever love somebody who is destined to be my ruin?

Yeahhhh!! The cover got reveal!!! And I love it!!🫶🏻😍 I am so excited to read this book... And after seeing a little teaser about knox ? It's hard to wait till June...🫣🤭 (It's a little questionable... 😉🫢) ︶ ⏝ ︶ ୨୧ ︶ ⏝ ︶
Highly suggest that you read the first book in the series, Rage, before jumping into this one!
This is Tara and Knox's story. Tara is left with huge self-esteem issues after a run in with an obsessed stalker and Knox is the police chief, this makes the story quite interesting to say the least. ENEMIES TO LOVERS!!
My favorite part is the banter back and forth between the two. They play these little pranks on each other, which tended to be a little unhinged but hilarious, nonetheless. Both of these characters grow so much over the course of the book. Knox learns what love is and how it feels while Tara lets her guard down and realizes that she is fierce and capable of being loved by someone.
The star of the show is Tara's dog Shadow! We get to see more of him in this book, and I adored every minute of it. I am such a sucker for a book with a pet!
The ending wrapped up nicely and I am curious which of the ladies will have a book next?
Please check your triggers! I feel like this book is darker and more graphic than the first.
Oh, I absolutely loved this one. Knox is officially in my favorite red flag boyfriends list. The story, the plot, the characters, everything about this was great and well executed. I was hooked right from the beginning and didn't stop until I was completely finished. I absolutely LOVED the relationship between Tara and Knox and definitely one of my favorite book couples.
Tara was a great fmc and I think she was written so well and portrayed as such a great, bad 🍑 protector. Knox was just, ugh. Love him so much.
A great dark romance and definitely not one you want to miss!
A huge thank you to the author, Nia Myst, for giving me the oppurtunity to read this book.
ARC Review - Burn is the second part of the series(Wildcats) beautifully written by Nia Myst. The series follows a group of women who have survived horrific acts of violence and injustice and were ultimately failed by the legal system, and how they get revenge on the men who harmed them and others like them, becoming vigilantes who deliver their own form of justice.
This book centers on Tara, also known as Shadow Panther, one of the vigilantes, and Lieutenant Knox Steele. As the group continues to clean up "his" streets by targeting criminals who have escaped punishment, Knox becomes determined to track them down.
The story blends themes of justice, revenge, trauma, healing, and romance while exploring the tension between taking the law into one's own hands and upholding it.
What I liked - I loved how the book remained rooted to its moto -"When the law doesn't work.We do." Not letting the romance overshadow it.
Relationship between Knox and Tara - t's been a longggggg time since I've come across a genuinely enjoyable cop × criminal dynamic, and this book delivered exactly that. The determination of Knox to hunt her down created a exciting thrill at the beginning of their relationship. What made their romance stand out was how well they complemented each other. Tara embraced the darker, more aggressive side of Knox instead of fearing it, while Knox found an outlet for those emotions through her. At the same time, Tara gradually let go of the fears and insecurities that had defined much of her life. Through Knox, she was able to reconnect with parts of herself that she had lost after her trauma, and watching her reclaim her confidence and sense of self was incredibly rewarding. Knox's unwavering support and acceptance of her made their relationship feel both emotional and deeply satisfying.
As an acid attack survivor, Tara's journey carried significant emotional weight. Beyond the romance and action, her story is one of resilience, healing, and self-acceptance. Seeing her move beyond the limitations imposed on her by both society and her own fears was one of the most powerful aspects of the book.
I also enjoyed the slightly unhinged stalker element woven into their relationship. Surprisingly, it never crossed into uncomfortable territory for me. Instead, it added an entertaining layer to their dynamic and felt more playful and intriguing than genuinely disturbing.
The action sequences were another strong point. They were well-coordinated, easy to follow, and served the story rather than existing solely for excitement.
As for the overall plot, it wasn't overly complex, but it didn't need to be. The pacing was steady and balanced, allowing both the romance and the storyline to develop naturally. Nothing felt rushed, and the story took its time building key moments, which made the reading experience much more enjoyable.
And based on the track of situations, are we getting Sloane's book next?
genuinely don't even know where to begin with Burn by Nia Myst because this book absolutely consumed me.😭🤌
This wasn't just a romance. It was raw, messy, painful, beautiful, and so emotionally intense that I felt every single page in my chest. Emotions just radiating off the pages.. the kind that makes you giggle in the middle of the day just thinking about a specific scene in that book..🥹✨
The depth of the characters, especially Tara, was incredible. She felt so real ,flawed, fierce, vulnerable, and strong all at once. Every emotion she experienced became my emotion, and that's what made this story impossible to put down. The talent of an author who can drive emotions of a reader with her book is just God's gift in it's true form.
And then there's Knox.
God, Knox.😮💨🥵
He's the kind of character who walks onto the page and immediately owns it. Beneath all the possessiveness, intensity, and ruthless determination is a man carrying so much emotion that it almost bleeds through the pages. His love isn't soft or gentle ,it's consuming, relentless, and all encompassing. Every action, every decision, every moment with Tara felt charged with purpose and emotion. The way he loved her, protected her, wanted her, and sometimes completely unraveled because of her had me absolutely hooked. These two got me swooning over each chapter like me reading and giggling at 3 am is normal 😭🤌
What truly blew me away was the execution of the concept. So many books have great ideas, but Burn delivers on every single promise. The storyline unfolds in a way that keeps you completely invested, constantly balancing tension, emotion, heartbreak, and hope. Nothing felt rushed, nothing felt forced. Every scene had a purpose, every interaction carried weight.
And the chemistry? Absolutely unreal 🥹🤌
The connection between Tara and Knox practically crackles off the page. The tension, the obsession, the possessiveness, the emotional vulnerability hidden beneath all that fire 🔥 is just CHEF'S KISS 😭🤌. Every glance felt loaded. Every confrontation felt explosive.
Every spicy scene felt earned because of the emotional depth behind it. Their relationship is messy, complicated, and intense in the best possible way, and I couldn't get enough of them.😮💨🤌
What I loved most was how deeply this book made me feel. It made me ache, made me angry, made me swoon, and at times completely shattered me. The emotional highs were incredible, but the painful moments hit just as hard, making the payoff feel even more rewarding.🥹✨
Burn isn't just a book you simply read. It's a book you experience.
So when I say I'm hooked.. I mean it.. because
Nia Myst created a story full of passion, heartbreak, healing, and unforgettable characters, and I'm still thinking about Tara and Knox long after turning the final page..
Thank you for the e-arc SwipethebookPR and Nia Myst!
Burn is a Stalker X Stalker dark romance in the world of the Wildcats, this book follows, Shadow Panther, one of the main Wildcat members.
As someone who read Rage and immediately was captivated by Tara and her baby boy Shadow getting to know more about Tara is so worth it!
This is a hard to put down whirlwind of a book, and I cannot wait for others to read it. I really liked how Tara's character was portrayed. She's someone who can do no wrong in my eyes and knowing she's got someone so down bad for her made me happy. Tara's flame doesn't get diminished, which I really was glad to experience.
One of my only comments of the book is having to do with Knox's profession, I am someone who does not believe in the justice system or in law enforcement (ACAB). I went into this book knowing that Knox would be a cop and I was curious as to how this would be portrayed and wanted to read because I've read Rage. There is heavy cop involvement throughout the book, and just as someone who is expressing their personal opinions, I didn't enjoy that.
The foundation of the Wildcats, very heavily relies on the existence of failed prosecution and injustices done to women by law enforcement and other systems of power. Knox's profession and cop interactions with the group (teamwork) completely dilutes its existence. One of the main things that drew me to this series was the vigilante "fuck the system" foundation that the Wildcats originate from. So this book disappointed me in that aspect.
I think Knox as a character is really layered, he is a psychopath (diagnosed) therefore he doesn't have a moral compass and connecting with people doesn't come easy to him. Despite this because of the way his mother raised him, he decided to work within law enforcement, knowing how fucked the system is. This is kinda where I lose my interest within Knox as a character. I understand that to him right and wrong does not exist. BUT he is someone who has a relationship to someone that was failed by the system. And rather than it being reprimanded and addressed, it gets swept under the rug.
I am someone who really enjoys complex romances with complex characters, I think this book has it's qualities and is really engaging. Unfortunately, the cop career and mentions just really bittered the experience for me. This might be a different experience for others, but this isn't a position I find myself being able to compromise.
I am open to reading the following book in the series because I believe that the Wildcats have so much potential.
Burn by Nia Myst 🐈⬛ ARC REVIEW ♟️ Rating: 5/5 stars (More like infinite stars, let’s be real) I’m writing this while my chest literally hurts because I don’t think I’m ever going to recover from Knox and Tara. Nia Myst created an absolute masterpiece, and I’m so deeply in love with this story that it actually feels entirely unhealthy. 😭🖤 This isn’t a book you just read and move on from; it wraps its hands around your throat and completely takes over your entire mind. The synopsis alone had me hooked, but the actual execution? Unreal. Knox is a literal psycho cop who uses his badge just to feed his hunger to hunt and destroy, and Tara is a scarred vigilante in a panther mask who is actively stealing his prey and cleaning up his streets. The dynamic between them is purely feral. The sheer chaos of their stalker x stalker game is everything—he breaks into her apartment, so she turns around and literally infiltrates his entire police precinct just to show him she isn't scared. Like, the absolute power dynamic here is so addictive, they are both completely unhinged and matching each other’s pitch-black energy step for step. But what really made me emotional is Tara’s strength. She survived a brutal acid attack years ago that left half her face scarred, and instead of staying down, she became absolute vengeance personified. She is so fiercely protective of her friends, the Wildcats. And Knox? Seeing a man like him look at her scars with pure, unfiltered, burning desire instead of an ounce of pity literally shattered my heart into a million pieces. He doesn't want to fix her; he wants to burn with her. Their connection breaks down every single wall, and watching them navigate a love that feels destined to ruin them both was so intensely beautiful it made me tear up. It’s violent, it's dark, it's painful, and it's the most addictive enemies-to-lovers story I have ever laid my eyes on. Pre-order it right now for July 2nd. It will leave marks on your soul long after the final page. 💜
I picked up Burn expecting chaos, obsession, morally gray characters, and a delicious stalker romance. What I didn't expect was how deeply heartwarming it would be beneath all the darkness.
Yes, Knox and Tara are absolutely unhinged in the best way. Their cat-and-mouse game is intense, addictive, and packed with tension from the very first page. Every interaction feels like a battle for dominance, yet somehow it's also unraveling two people who have spent their lives hiding their wounds behind violence, obsession, and control.
Tara completely stole my heart. Her journey after surviving such a horrific attack is powerful, and despite the darkness surrounding her, she never feels broken. She's fierce, resilient, and refuses to let her scars define her. Watching Knox see her—not based on her scars, but as the incredible woman she is—was unexpectedly emotional.
What makes this story special is that beneath the stalking, vigilantism, and psychological warfare is a love story about acceptance. These are two people who should destroy each other, yet somehow become the first people who truly understand one another. Their relationship is messy, dangerous, and unconventional, but there's an undeniable tenderness buried underneath all the madness.
The Wildcats were another highlight. Their loyalty, friendship, and found-family dynamic added so much warmth to the story. They turned what could have been a purely dark romance into something with genuine heart.
If you're looking for a dark romance with an obsessive devotion, electric chemistry, and a surprisingly touching emotional core, Burn delivers all of it. It is twisted, thrilling, hilarious at times, and far more heartfelt than I ever expected.
A five-star read that somehow made me smile while watching two psychopaths fall in love.
Knox was easily the highlight of this book for me. His devotion to Tara is on another level. He’s so far gone that he’s willing to shield her from the rest of the precinct just to keep her safe. As far as he’s concerned, he’s living out his favorite fairy tale, and he couldn’t be happier about it. Not even Tara’s intimidating black Doberman, Shadow, can scare this unhinged lieutenant away from the woman he’s obsessed with.
Tara, meanwhile, is caught between feeling flattered by Knox’s relentless attention and staying focused on protecting her girls, the Wildcats. The Wildcats are a vigilante group dedicated to helping women whose abusers escaped legal consequences. Each member has her own reasons for joining, and part of what makes them so compelling is how different they are while still working together toward the same goal.
Overall, the writing was decent, though some of the dialogue and character behavior felt a little juvenile considering the main characters are twenty-eight and thirty-five years old. The storyline kept me interested, but if I’m being honest, Shadow was probably my favorite character in the entire book.
Thank you Swipe the Book PR for sending me this ARC!
Burn is a Dark Romance book and the second in a series (but I think it can be read as a standalone) and Tara and Knox were incredible, I loved their story so much!
Tara is a member of Wildcats, a sisterhood of vigilantes protecting women from abusive men and avenging them. When during one mission she is caught red-handed by Knox, a cop with darkness in him, he gets obsessed with her and they start playing a cat and mouse game with tension between them growing higher every time they see each other.
I loved the first book in this series and was really excited for this one and omg it definitely didn’t disappoint and was amazing, I loved every second I spent reading it. Tara was such a strong FMC, she was badass but also insecure about what happened in her past, she went through a lot and I loved seeing her embrace that part of herself, both on her own and with Knox’s support. Knox was a cop but also a psychopath which made him really interesting and his obsession with Tara was everything. Their cat and mouse game was written perfectly and I loved their dynamics, the way they were teasing each other and driving each other mad was so fun to read about. Their relationship was definitely a slow burn but the tension between them was palpable from the very beginning and I loved these two together, they were incredible and the spicy scenes made me blush at times, they were fire together. And of course Shadow stole my heart, he was amazing and his interactions with Knox made me laugh out loud, especially in the beginning.
Burn is an amazing dark romance book, I loved Knox and Tara’s story and definitely recommend it and book 1 to everyone. I already can’t wait for next books in this series.
Burn is the second book in the series of Wildcats. Let's start with Tara, a vigilante known as Shadow Panther, and Knox, a diagnosed psychopath lieutenant (sounds hot right) determined to hunt her down. What starts as a thrilling cop-versus-criminal chase quickly turns into an intense enemies-to-lovers romance filled with obsession, tension, and healing. (You don't know how obsessed I'm with it, i mean literally the tension)
What I enjoyed most was the dynamic between Knox and Tara. Their relationship felt so engaging from the start, and I loved how they challenged and complemented each other(iykyk). Tara never lost her strength or identity within the romance, and watching her slowly reclaim her confidence after her traumatic past was incredibly rewarding. I was literally in tears and couldn't hold back my tears when I got to know what happened to her in her past, she is such a strong and brave woman, I'm so proud of her.
This book has a great balance between action and romance well, staying in its themes of justice, revenge, trauma, and recovery(i am totally emotional). The stalking added a great tension to the relationship without becoming uncomfortable, and the action scenes kept the pace moving (I'm not kidding).
Knox is a complex character but still i love him so much. I love the way he was supporting tara . His relationship with Tara brought out layers of vulnerability and growth that made their relationship strong.
I was actually sooo excited for burn because of rage, I'm obsessed with each and every single one of the characters and i really can't wait to read more of them.
One of best book I read in 2026. I'm so excited to read book three, and i honestly can't wait.
Some stories don't flirt with darkness, they drag you straight into it and dare you to enjoy the ride. Burn by Nia Myst is exactly that kind of book.
This isn't your typical enemies to lovers romance. It's a dangerous game between two people who are equally obsessed, equally ruthless, and completely incapable of walking away from each other. Knox and Tara are chaos wrapped in chemistry, and every interaction between them feels like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.
Knox is the kind of morally twisted character you know you shouldn't root for, yet somehow you can't stop turning the pages whenever he's on the scene. Tara is just as fierce, carrying both scars and strength with a resilience that made me admire her from the very beginning. Together, they're addictive. The stalking, the cat and mouse chase, the mind games, the tension that practically crackles off the page... it all creates an atmosphere that is impossible to look away from.
What impressed me most was how the story balanced its darkness with emotional depth. Beneath the obsession, the battles, and the danger, there is a wounded heroine learning she is still worthy of being seen and desired, and that made Tara's journey incredibly compelling.
The Wildcat crew continues to steal the spotlight whenever they appear, bringing loyalty, humor, and heart to a story filled with shadows. Their bond feels genuine and adds another layer of emotion to the narrative.
Dark, intense, obsessive, and wildly entertaining, Burn is the kind of book that keeps your pulse racing long after you've put it down. If you love morally gray characters, high stakes tension, relentless chemistry, and romances where both characters are just a little unhinged, this one deserves a spot on your TBR.
Burn tells a powerful and unique story centered around an acid attack survivor. What makes this book so special is that Tara doesn't just survive the brutality inflicted upon her—she rebuilds herself and becomes part of a team dedicated to delivering justice for women who have suffered (First by the offender and then by law). The concept behind this series is genuinely beautiful. At its core, this is a stalker x stalker romance, but it's also a story about healing, self-worth, and finding a love that sees beyond scars. Tara is the heart of this book. After a life-altering attack, she learns to love herself despite the insecurities and doubts. While she's strong, resilient, and capable of taking down the worst of humanity, she's also just a woman who wants to be loved. Her journey of self-acceptance is inspiring, and when life finally gives her a chance at love, she chooses to take it despite her fears. And then there's Knox.
A completely unhinged, obsessive cop who goes from wanting to arrest Tara to protecting her with everything he has. The way he worships her—through both his actions and his inner monologues—is beautiful to witness. His obsession never feels rooted in pity; instead, he sees Tara exactly as she is and loves every part of her. His devotion, protectiveness, and absolute inability to look away from her make him the perfect match for our girl.
Burn is dark, emotional, empowering, and surprisingly hopeful. More than the romance, it's a story about a survivor reclaiming her life, her confidence, and her right to be loved unapologetically.
While the entire motive and though behind the book is good. There were times when the book felt too dragged. It takes its time to grip reader's interest but overall is a decent read.
-Before I start I just want to say, if you read this book - read the author's note afterwards. It broke my heart and made me love this author even more.
Wow! What a book! I didn't read the first book and now I'm DEFINITELY going back to read the first one. This was incredible!! If I had to sum up this book, I would say it's Charlie's Angels and Beauty and the Beast had a baby. This is action packed, women empowerment, found family and a beautiful love story. I had THE best time reading this! I loved every single page of this. God, Tara is beyond words. The emotional stress that she went through on the daily basis, even after her trauma. Just to be a thriving part of this community of women, and to have to hide half of herself at all times. To have gone through the trauma and still be living it on the other side. It broke my heart and made me love her so much. And the way that Knox loved her?? It was actually so beautiful. His words to her, spoke to the very core of her heart and mine. And then there's Shadow. I love pets in books and this was no exception. There were parts of this that had me laughing. The first time Shadow met Knox? Yes! Their interactions are hilarious. Overall this was an amazing book that I think a massive amount of readers will love. I can see this whole series blowing up. As it should!!
A huge thank you to Swipethebook Pr and to Nia Myst herself for an incredible book that I literally was up till 3:30 reading because I couldn't put it down. The action was intense! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting read this in advance of it's release.
Review of Advancer Reader Copy received from Author
Wow. I got sucked into this book so fast.
Burn is the second book in the Wildcat series, and even though I hadn't read book one yet, I had no trouble following along. In fact, I originally planned to read the first book before starting this one, but once I picked up Burn, I couldn't put it down. I'm reading book one now because I immediately needed more of this world.
Knox and Tara completely had my attention from the start. Knox is an absolute force of nature, and his obsession with Tara made for such a compelling read. Their cat-and-mouse dynamic kept me hooked the entire time, and I was constantly waiting to see who would gain the upper hand next.
Tara is an acid burn survivor turned vigilante who works with the Wildcats to help women who have been wronged, while Knox is a psychopathic cop whose interest in her quickly becomes impossible to ignore. The tension between them was intense, messy, and exactly what I want from a dark romance.
This is definitely a dark romance, so check content warnings before diving in. It tackles some heavy themes and isn't going to be for everyone. Personally, though, this is exactly the kind of dark, obsessive romance I love to read.
The pacing kept me invested from beginning to end, and I found myself flying through the pages because I always needed to know what was going to happen next.
If you're a fan of morally gray characters, obsession, vigilante justice, and dark romance with a strong cat-and-mouse dynamic, I would absolutely recommend giving Burn a try. It completely consumed me from start to finish.
If you’re looking for a romance where the stalking goes both ways, the obsession is mutual, and the chemistry feels like two lit matches thrown into a gasoline-soaked room, this book delivers in every possible way.
Knox is the definition of a morally black, completely unhinged MMC. A psychopath cop hunting the vigilante stealing his kills? Sign me up. But what made this story unforgettable was Tara. She isn’t a victim waiting to be saved. She’s fierce, resilient, and every bit as dangerous as Knox. Watching these two try to outmaneuver, stalk, and destroy each other while falling hopelessly obsessed had me glued to every page.
The enemies-to-lovers tension was immaculate. The banter was sharp, the cat-and-mouse game addictive, and the spice? Absolutely scorching. Yet beneath all the chaos and obsession was a surprisingly emotional story about healing, acceptance, and finding someone who sees every scar and loves you anyway.
The Wildcats continue to be one of my favorite found families, and I loved seeing Tara finally get her story. Add in a protective Doberman, dual POVs, vigilante justice, and enough dark romance goodness to keep me up way past bedtime, and this was an easy five-star read.
🔥 Stalker x Stalker 🖤 Psycho Cop vs Vigilante FMC 🔥 Obsession & Possession 🐾 Protective Doberman ⚔️ Enemies to Lovers 🌶️ Spicy & Addictive
Burn isn’t just a dark romance. It’s a full-blown obsession, and I loved every chaotic second of it
I loved Rage so I was looking forward to reading Burn which features Tara and Knox. The premise sounded intriguing. I was interested in learning more about Tara’s backstory. Shadow, Tara’s dog, stole the show and was easily my favorite character in the book! The story is told through both Tara’s and Knox’s perspectives. I enjoyed Tara’s character and appreciated learning more about her, though I would have preferred flashbacks to her past rather than having much of it relayed through retelling. Unfortunately, I wasn’t a fan of Knox. I understand that he’s written with psychopathic tendencies, but I never found a redeeming quality that made me connect with him. Instead, I found him more off-putting than compelling. Some aspects of the writing were repetitive. The dialogue between Tara and Knox didn’t reflect their ages which came across as immature at times. As for Knox’s role as a lieutenant, we’re told he’s one of the good cops, but this wasn’t consistently demonstrated through his actions. Additionally, some of the dialogue between the police officers was stilted and didn’t sound like a natural way they would speak to one another. I also loved that we still get the friendship and connection of the Wildcats like we did for the first book. There were a few twists I didn’t anticipate which made me emotionally invested and kept me turning the pages. Overall, I’m looking forward to continuing the series and am curious to see which Wildcat’s story will be next!
The second book of Wildcats, Burn by Nia Myst upgrades the operations of the vigilante after the events of Rage. Burn is Tara and Knox’s story and my little dark romance loving heart was all over Knox’s obsession for Tara. The plot, romance, chemistry and the slowly expanding family of the Wildcats is absolutely enthralling. I enjoyed every turn of the page as I continued reading.
Burn is a dark romance where violence against women is being avenged. It’s personal and yet not personal. Each Wildcat is going to grab her story by the horns, and Tara does it most magnificently. The book is fabulous with two crazies going at each other in the most depraved manner, and yet making the readers love it.
If you ask me to choose between the spice and the plot, I would choose the plot. I am not discounting anything, but the plot hits every woman hard due to the reflection of our society, it shows. At the same time, I will definitely say that the spice elevates the book. It calls to the courage that Tara has overcome a battle and yet has not lost herself to it, even if she is hesitant about embracing her desires, however dark they may be. The balance between plot and the developing relationship between Knox and Tara kept me going till the end. It was fast-paced, engaging and delicious.
Going on the events of Burn, I think or at least I hope, that the next book will be based on Sloane who has been the biggest cheerleader for not only Knox, but also Dominic from Rage. Can’t wait for the author’s next.
The Wildcats are a fierce group of women who will do whatever it takes to protect and avenge women and girls who have been harmed. When the law fails, they step up. Each of these women knows intimately how the law can fail, and that’s how they became a Wildcat.
Knox is a sociopath with a badge. He can usually rein in his darker impulses by working his cases, but he meets his match in one of the Wildcats, Tara. These two are deeply unhinged - who brings an axe to bed and uses it against the man she actually wants to have sex with? Tara does. She makes Knox earn the privilege to be with her. They both love the fight and the chase.
And while you might be thinking the spice and the romance is all there is to this book, you'd be mistaken. Alongside the probably extremely unhealthy relationship, Tara and Knox are working together to discover the men behind a Russian kidnapping ring.
There's tense action interwoven seamlessly with tender *and* spicy moments. You'll be rooting for Tara and Knox to end the scumbags before they take Shadow on a lovely walk through New York City together.
This is a book two, but I can assure you that it can be read as a standalone. That said, I'm definitely going back to read book one, as well as keeping my eye out for more.
No matter what and how I say it, words won’t do justice to HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS BOOK.
Nia SMASHED it (again). She said we weren’t ready for Knox and Tara, and IT WAS TRUE. It exceeded ALL MY EXPECTATIONS AND THEN SOME MORE. I DEVOURED THIS BOOK LIKE A MANIAC, and IT WAS SO FUCKING DELICIOUS that I already crave more!!
The WRITING WAS FAN-fucking-TASTIC. All the characters were so well outlined ... their personalities, their dynamics with others, and even their battles within themselves... TOO GOOD. They all felt so real and so close that I couldn’t help but laugh when they laughed, cry when they hurt, and feel every ounce of anticipation, nervousness, and thrill whenever they were in action. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL.
Now about Tara and Knox’s relationship — AAAAAAAH IT WAS UNHINGED IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY!! The stalking game, the chase, the passion, the obsession, the push and pull, the constant fight to outdo the other, the sheer feralness of them... MINDBLOWING!! But what got me the most was the way they bought quiet and calm to each other 🙌🏽 Beneath all that chaos was this softness, tenderness, and vulnerability that felt so raw and consuming. GOD. IT WAS EVERYTHING.
Thank you, Nia Myst and Swipethebookpr for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC.
Before reading, make sure to read TW before getting into this book.
I don't know where to begin, I've been wanting to read the Wildcats series, and i got the chance to read book 2. It was the most intense, heartbreaking rage I've felt while reading this.
The way the women of Wildcats went through so many things. They are the strongest, most amazing people. Also, the work they do to protect and save and to give them better lives. In a world where law doesn't work, the Wildcats will do everything that will give justice.
As for Tara, who is an acid attack survivor, her story made me feel a lot. She lives with her Doberman shadow and the wildcats who are like a family. Knox is a cop and works his way to solve cases until his life gets intertwined with Tara. Their chemistry feels like burning fire, and they match together so well.
I really enjoyed the funny scenes, the banter, everything about this book is just so good. Their badass personalities, their relationship, chemistry, the way they collectively solve cases, everything about it is so well written.
Sometimes as a reader, you’re so involved in a story that you want to get to its end as soon as possible. At the same time, you enjoy your time in the world of the book so much that you want it to keep going without an end. Burn has been that book for me so far this year. And I’m not just saying that either. After Rage introduced me to the world of the Wildcats, the pressure was higher than ever for its next instalment. And the way it has delivered is just *ohmygodicantevenbelievethis*
While I was most looking forward to returning to the friendship of the Wildcats, I think I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the budding ✨potential✨ friendship between Knox and Dominic. Interesting as their dynamic is, it sure was entertaining to watch them clash 😉 I think I’m definitely looking forward to more of that!!
“Your name, my little criminal. Give me your name.”
Honestly, I think Knox Steele is why we continue to enjoy dark romance as a genre. Who wouldn’t appreciate a man who is devoted to burn the whole world in revenge, after all?! And the way Knox and his little criminal have a hold on each other has just made my whole entire day!!
Okay, I was hooked and waiting for this book ever since I first saw the teaser and the tropes, and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT.
Tara deserves all the love. Everything she went through absolutely broke my heart, but despite it all, she stayed incredibly strong and found a new place for her in the world. I just wanted to reach through the pages and give her the biggest hug.
Knox, my obsessed psycho cop and complete goner for Tara… he literally went to arrest her and ended up becoming completely obsessed with her. We love this shit!!!
The way he saw Tara, made her love herself, and showed her in his own way how beautiful she is was honestly so beautiful. Their relationship was unhinged, but in the best possible way. They were a perfect match for each other.
I’m giving it 4.5 stars because the spice writing pulled me out of the story a couple of times and I had to skip some scenes. Even though I love spicy books, it just didn’t personally work for me this time.
Also, the Wildcats idea feels TV-worthy. It would be so fun to get a TV show about vigilante killers!
Vigilantes for the people, when the system fails them. So what's not to love when strong kick ass women pick up the slack. The first encounter with Knox and Tara was hilarious, the frustration, obsession and desire was there from the get go. Both taunting each other playing cat and mouse then there was plenty of stalking on both sides, it was seriously beautifully unhinged. This made me laugh at both their antics.
I loved the character's development and the strength each of these wildcat women had. And Knox he's in a league of his own.
Then there's shadow, omg, i Iove this bloody unhinged dog too he's just as crazy as his mom haha
I really enjoyed this book so much, I'm looking forward to more of the wildcats stories. I am also hoping to see more of the cops that worked with Knox those guys especially Brandon seem like he could just be unhinged as Knox haha.
This was my first time reading from this author so I will go back and read the first book but this was amazing thank you for the chance to ARC for this.
Burn completely consumed me from the very first chapter. The story delivers everything I love in a dark romance that is obsession, tension, danger and characters who are unapologetically chaotic but beneath all the darkness is a story about healing and acceptance.
The novel centers on Tara, a vigilante known as Shadow panther and Knox, a morally twisted police lieutenant determined to hunt her down, creating an addictive enemies to lovers and cat & mouse game.
Tara and Knox are absolutely magnetic together. Their stalker versus stalker dynamic is thrilling, their banter is sharp and every interaction feels like a battle neither of them wants to let go of. The chemistry between them was practically crackles off the page. Oh my god and those pranks ?? Don’t even ask me if I liked it. I absolutely loved those scenesss!!!! And shadow? The best dog ever and his bond with Tara. Now I want a dog so badly.
What made this a five star read for me was definitely the wildcats journeys. After surviving a horrific acid attack, Tara has built herself into someone fierce and unbreakable yet her vulnerability still shines through. Watching Knox see her scraps without any judgement and love every part of her was incredibly powerful. Their relationship is messy, obsessive and completely unconventional but somehow it works because they understand each others darkness better than anyone else. The family bond between the wildcats was so touching.
I’m a sucker for dark romance with a strong FMC and a psychopath MMC, and Nia absolutely delivers in this series. That said, please check the trigger warnings before diving in. This is a series centered on a group of women who are both vigilantes and survivors of horrific acts of violence against women, and part of their mission is holding accountable the people who harmed them and others like them.
Tara is a burn survivor, and watching her grow in self-confidence through her relationship with Knox is one of my favorite things about this book. That growth feels earned, especially layered on top of the strength she already carries as a Wildcat.
Knox was a complicated MMC for me at first. He was genuinely hard to like in the beginning. He’s a cop with a missing moral compass, and that’s a lot to sit with early on. But once you start to see the depth of his obsession with Tara and how fiercely protective he is of her, he won me over completely. He’s now solidly in my top 10 favorite psychopath MMCs.
Burn is the second book in the Wildcats series by Nia Myst, and I absolutely loved it!
Our FMC, Tara, is an acid attack survivor strong, brave, and beautiful. Along with the other four incredible women of the Wildcats, she takes justice into her own hands, punishing the criminals who escaped the consequences of their actions. They're fighting for women the system failed, and I loved seeing these women stand up for each other 🥹🫶🏻 Lieutenant Knox, our MMC a brilliant, slightly unhinged police officer. Their cat-and-mouse game and banter were everything! And Shadow? He completely stole the show 💕
One of my favorite things about this book was watching Samira, Lena, Tara, Naomi, and Sloane find peace and a home within themselves and with each other. I adore the found family trope, and this book delivered it beautifully. If you love Touch Her & D!e, Obsessive MMC, Enemies-to-Lovers, Stalker × Stalker, Found Family then you definitely need to pick up Burn!
After the Wildcats interaction with the Russians in the last book, Tara is on a mission to take down their entire operation. Add to that the cop who is trying to figure out who is cleaning up his streets and it’s obvious she has a lot on her plate. When the cop and her finally cross paths, obsession is only the beginning.
This was a ride. Tara’s growth and acceptance was a delight to see. The stalker v stalker was one of the best I’ve read. The chemistry was off the charts and their constant back and forth was fun. They are both unhinged but it doesn’t stop from the adoration. Once again I left this series wanting to be as strong as these badass women and having the desire to up my workout regimen.
What I liked: Banter, Entertaining, Side characters, Strong characters, Villain Would I recommend? Yes Who it’s for: Those who love strong, badass women, who love a morally gray cast and who enjoy a stalker…or two.
So few days back I was able to get my hands on the ARC of 'BURN' of Nia.myst.author and I was happy and excited would be an understatement 🫣 . . Tara and Knox my gosh are so chaotic together that I couldn't help but giggle at their moments. I loved them soo much and only after finishing the book I understood why the book was name Burn (so tubelight of me, I know) . . Shadow and Knox's bond is probably one of my favourites It is something like a bond between a son and a father (desi people, please raise your hand if you understand what I mean). Their first meet 😂😂😂😂, I died laughing. . . . My muscle mommy and Billionaire daddy appearances gave me life. They are so good together. I have missed them soo much.
Lastly, thank you so much for the opportunity for the ARC, I will never not take it lightly how author trusted me to give an ARC. It means more than I will ever be able to tell you. THANK YOU SOO MUCH.
