Matty Cruz Adventure #2

Killer in Couper

Rate this book
Matty Cruz, a young retiree, needs an activity to keep her occupied in her new hometown of Couper, Washington, a tree-filled city nestled on the banks of the Columbia River—which also happens to have the highest violent-crime rate in the Pacific Northwest.

In the second book of the completed Matty Cruz Adventure series, Police Detective Phil Bester has just the job for her. His older brother, Sam, is in trouble with the law, and Phil can’t help him. Knowing that she’s a natural when it comes to getting people to talk, he recruits her to question people who live near the crime scene.

Charming Sam Bester talks Matty into letting him tag along as she investigates. Unfortunately, every clue they discover points to him being the murderer, and the closer they get to the truth, the more Matty begins to wonder whether she’s being set up as the next victim on the murder’s hit list.

A great read

This one was as good or better than the first. It's fun reading about the fast transformation of Matty in a place, even though invented, so familiar. I am quite fond of the Pacific North West. The mysteries are great and the thrills exhilarating.

Not exactly a cozy mystery but also not a scary thriller. Good light reading for a lazy summer day.
