That’s the nickname for Elysium City, a city defined by clashes between powerful villains and celebrity superheroes. It’s a place Ryan, like many small-time villains, avoided. All that changed when chilling visions of the apocalypse drove him to Elysium City and straight into a war zone.
A powerful syndicate alliance is murdering rookie superheroes from Pelion Academy, and Ryan finds himself in the middle of it. The past, present, and future collide as he tries to understand the strange visions and the connection they have with a rookie from the Academy and his future.
Can he piece together the puzzle in his mind to save the world, or will this war end him before the apocalypse even begins?
The future is broken, and only a villain can fix it.
An avid reader with a fondness for Fantasy, Sci-fi, and HaremLit Books. I strive to write interesting worlds and characters like those that drew me to these genres. My debut book, Exile: De'Vas Chronicles Book 1, is my aim to achieve that goal. I hope you enjoy the book and the others to come in the future.
I enjoyed this book quite a bit, as it's a different take on the super hero plotlines that are more common in haremlit.
The MC is in a desolate future with his wife as they try to get away from some bots that are chasing them. They use something known as "the echo machine" to send half of his memories back to himself a few years prior to whatever caused everything to be a mess. Then the story begins as the MC wakes up with half-formed memories driving him to make choices he normally wouldn't make. Choices that lead him to the leading super hero academy. An academy he has no interest in joining.
The only locked down LI in this book is his childhood friend, and the two have been avoiding confronting their feelings because they're all each other has had. But now in a new city, and with other women around, the LI makes her move. It was actually well done, though the sex scene was pretty average.
There are quiet a few nice plot twists in this, and there's going to be some really interesting events shaping up for book 2. I look forward to reading that.
I’ve been reading this author for a while, but this is my first time actually sitting down to write a review. To start, this book felt like a step up from his previous work—at least in the first few chapters. However, once the protagonist met his family, the pace slowed down significantly. There were moments where it felt like the characters having powers was just an afterthought. Additionally, the romance between Ryan and Tori felt poorly written. In fact, I felt most of the characters had great potential that wasn't fully realized. The plot felt a bit aimless at times, with the characters being too passive rather than driving the story forward. That said, it’s still a good story overall. I’ll be waiting for Book 2 to see if these issues get ironed out.
Wow, another great start to a series from this author. I will always put this author's new works on my 'save for the weekend' list. And at least the first one will go on my no audiobooks list, I know If I like a series enough I will again listen to it with the right narrators. This is the right combination of almost every genre, plot, mystery, chemistry, and action to keep you entertained the whole way.
I won't even bother explaining further, just read this book and find out, if you need something to hook you in think blade runner with more super powers.
I generally despise superhero stories. I held my nose when I bought this book. Based on the fact that I love this author's other books, I gave it a shot. This author did not disappoint me. This is the best superhero book that I have read. I like how the story is more character driven, then powers driven. While the characters are various level of powers, I like how the author made them all relatable. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Some time in the future a supernaturals being finds a special rock and with help transports it to a damaged Supernatural Academy. When there he is told he is the one who has to go back. They somehow send his essence back into his own body but it only comes out in snatches. Now he sees snatches of the future as it will be if someone doesn't change the present. Classic good verses evil not sure which is which sometimes. Good Read.
Chase has truly outdone himself. De'Vas was great, Feral Mage was awesome, Echoes though, cranks all the tension and pumps it up to 11 right out the gate. If you like super heroes, anti-heroes and characters with utility focused powers stacked with a brain between his ears I highly recommend this series. Its shaping up to be one of the best in the genre.
I read this on release day without stopping. A gripping story with well written characters. The pacing was just right and the world building was well done. Lot of hints for the future but still focused on the story being told. Editing was excellent and I am so looking forward to the next in the series. More please!!
Excellent. The tried-and-true premise of the MC's future self finding a way to send knowledge of a dystopian future to his past self, but with superheroes. I'm there for it.
I found the story engaging, the characters likable, and the harem elements suitably subdued. You can see where it's going, but it's not rushing to get there and doesn't get in the way of telling the story.
Enjoyed reading this one a lot, I had certain expectations going in since I’m a fan of the authors other series the De’vas chronicles and I have to admit that this book blew those expectations out of the water. This was genuinely a treat to read and am eager to read more
I have not read a book by Chase Kilgore that I did not like and this one is no exception. Well written with great characters all around. Didn’t really have anyone in this book that I didn’t like or think played a good part in the book. Super hero aspect was well written too. Looking forward to the next several books in this series!
I love all of Chases books so far and this one is no different, the story and characters are fantastic so far and I'm looking forward to see where this one goes next.
Another banger from the author, eagerly awaiting this and another installment of his other series’. A very engaging story had me enthralled from start to finish.
